We really enjoyed our stay at the Grand Flora. The hotel is modern, accessible, and in a great location—just a short 7–10 minute walk to the center of Sorrento. We were pleasantly upgraded from a deluxe room to a suite with breathtaking views of the volcano and ocean. The staff were friendly, though service could be a bit more polished. Overall, a wonderful property with stunning views and an ideal location.

Ask for new section of the hotel

Location is good. We stayed at the old part of the hotel, AC is controlled by the front desk. Hair dryer was not working. Bathroom is very old. Picture shows the new part of the hotel which is much better. My first room was right next to an antique elevator.its impossible to sleep even with my ear plugs. Staffs are very friendly.

What an amazing experience! I booked an Airbnb that was not ideal and made this booking last minute. I liked it so much I stayed an extra day! So convenient, every single person that helped us was amazing and close to everything. I think I’m dove with Airbnb’s from now on. Beautiful property!

One of the worst hotels i have ever stayed at!
They sold me an old room that is completely different than the picture! Bad AC, no working electricity sockets no safe, door doesn’t close properly!
It was bad! And the staff is very limited with very slow response time!
For this high price i would have booked a much better place!

This is a nice hotel if a bit dated in the rooms department , whatever happens if they offer you a room in the 650’s it’s so noisy , I’m a light sleeper & it was awfull …..but good enough we asked for a change of room and they let us & gave us a decent one on the ground floor , nice pool , good breakfast & a decent location ..not bad but not the best .

This hotel is walking distance from the bus/train terminal. Very clean room, beautiful lobby, great pool. Convenient walking distance to town/restaurants/shops etc. Small room. Bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads which provide no pressure so you take a lot longer to shower. There was sufficient hot water. Get a room n the back which overlooks the lemon trees they have growing back there and the pool (we were able to see on when it was empty). The rooms in the front face a gas station.It would have been a nicer stay with a back facing room. Staff was nice and let me check in early

In our opinion, the hotel is not safe from theft. We left a wallet with money out on the table when we went down to the pool. When we returned, the wallet and money were missing.

We immediately reported this to the front desk, but they were dismissive, claiming a Manager was not on site, and telling us to wait until the next day.

The next day, someone came to our room and confronted us about the theft with housekeeping present, saying the maid did enter the room but it was \"impossible\" that she stole the money, since she worked there for 10 years. We felt unsafe that this conversation was initiated with her present.

We noted that there was no \"do not disturb\" sign, and we had no option to deny entry to the room while we were away.

After this incident was dismissed, we went to the front desk to try to communicate, but we were told there was no proof of the theft, and nothing they could do. The staff seemed totally uninterested in assisting, and their callous reaction made us feel it was not an uncommon incident.

We filed a police report, but in our opinion, the hotel should have been much more concerned with our report and making things right, as we believe the only possible explanation is the item was stolen by hotel staff.

Following our experience, we found multiple other reviews mentioning theft and mirroring our exact experience.

The hotel looks nice on the outside and is well located, but we feel it is not safe.

At first we were very happy with the property pool was still open bar was open hotel was nice , but the next morning we left our room for 15 mins for the complimentary breakfast and we returned to the room with the maid inside we left and let her finish . When we returned I looked around and noticed 70 euro missing from my wallet which I had left thinking 15 minutes to the breakfast a floor down was a safe bet in which I was wrong . Confronted the maid in which she said no English and the front desk didn’t seem to care about my complaint either . Don’t trust this hotel or their staff after a quick google search I found a dozen complaints about thefts during breakfast from their cleaning staff .

Older hotel with fabulous 60’s decor. It felt very much La Dolce Vita Mode!
Pool area and outdoor dining excellent. Room large and comfortable.
The hotel is a 10 minute walk to the Old Town and 5 minutes to Train Station and buses, so very well located.
Reception staff were very helpful with our booking amendments.

A very nice traditional Italian hotel, very helpful staff, pool and bar were good to relax at after a days sightseeing, breakfast at the top of the hotel with lovely staff and views set you up for a good day. Easy flat walk into the centre in a few minutes. The room was traditional with a lovely balcony and a nice touch was a fridge . A very enjoyable stay.

A lovely hotel. We had a great large modern room with large bathroom and balcony. It is in a good location close to the town and has a nice pool. The breakfast was good. The evening menu looked really good too with lots of good vegetarian options but no one else was in there so we didn't eat there. It's a shame as the restaurant is on the top floor and has a great view.

Great location. About 7 minutes walk to Train and Bus station. Friendly staff. The only thing that I was dissatisfied with, we asked to call a Taxi to catch our tour to Capri at 7:30. The receptionist (forgot his name, but a tall with glasses middle age guy) called us a car but not a Taxi and for 7 minutes ride they charged us 30 Euro, and they even did not drop us at the Marina or the LIFT to the beach and we had to run around to find the lift & almost lost our tour. I am that glad they waited for us!

Do not waste your money staying here. All the furniture is dated. The only good thing about this property is the pool. Also, don’t book a room on level 4, every morning at 6:30am you will be woken up by the sound of scrapping chairs from above as their breakfast buffet is on level 5. Also, don’t expect the amenities or TV to be anything special. Mine didn’t work.

Older hotel with lots of character, had a small room with balcony. Perfect for what we needed, 15 min walk to center, close to convenience store and small restaurants. Breakfast was worth including, staff was super friendly and helpful. Live music by the pool bar on Tuesday night was awesome.

Loved my room which was on a corner and had two balconies. Morning sun and a view over the pool towards the sea. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The breakfast room was attended by friendly waiters with lots of choice. Coffee was not great from machine. The pool was incredible although it should open way earlier than 10am and open later than 7pm. I would have loved an early morning or late evening swim. Some reviewers have complained about the fact there are no parasols which would be good, especially on the upper deck where they could have fewer loungers. Each lounger has a little fold down shade at the head end so you can read in the sun if you want to. Water in the rooms on arrival would be a nice touch. I was surprised there was no water as it was so hot. You can get some from the bar near the pool though if you like. Good walk
into town along the bustling high street. A couple of lovely bistro pizzerias next door open until midnight with a great atmosphere. The lobby is very bright at night. The lights in my room were extremely bright. Would have liked more ambient lighting options. The air con was a bit patchy. Would definitely recommend booking a room on the pool side. I put the do not disturb light on in my room when I went for breakfast so was surprised to find the housekeeper in my room when I got back a little later. ‘Do not disturb’ & ‘Please make up my room’ signs for the door handle would be helpful. Overall though, a very pleasant couple of days.

Good location and easy access from the road; in fact, it is on the main road. The daytime desk staff was helpful. Some employee not friendly. The martinet at the pool starts enforcing closing time at ten minutes to 7 PM. The breakfast room administrator would not let us in at 5 minutes before 7 AM even though we had a 3.5 hour trip to catch a plane from Rome airport; he would not open a minute before the 7 AM scheduled opening time, but he did have a plate available for tips for the staff. Otherwise the rooms were nice, even the ones not yet renovated.

We were a family of 5 and had 2 rooms that were very similar. The three kids stayed in one room which had two beds. We were then charged more that the cost of the room again for a sheet and blanket on the couch. The kids rooms therefore cost twice the amount of our room even though it was slightly worse.

A Pleasant Stay

I stayed at the Flora for four nights during my first trip to Sorrento, and found it to be a pleasant experience. Where there might have been a few hiccups - my friend and I were placed in separate wings of the hotel, our rooms were not equitable etc. - all of this was balanced out (and potentially explained) by the reception staff's willingness to check us in earlier than planned. They answered our many questions, made it easy to navigate the hotel, and were professional throughout. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. The pool was a true blessing after warm days out under the Sorrento sun. Overall, a great stay.

The hotel is a beautiful older hotel with charming decor. The room was clean, well furnished, and everything we needed. Breakfast was provided on the top floor with a breathtaking view of the sea and Mt Vesuvius in the distance. Hotel staff were wonderfully accommodating, going out of their way to explain local sights and clarify transportation to Naples international airport.

If you like 60s Deco this is the place for you. Loved the art deco glass lighting and the lobby has a huge gathering space and bar. The pool was amazing and the staff at the morning buffet where wonderful. Its an easy 5-10 minute walk to downtown and Tasso Square where you will find awesome restaurants and shopping and most tour pickups. The only downside was our room was on the 1st floor facing the street so very noisy and smelly for car exhaust, I'd ask for room facing pool and higher up.

the pool was cleaned every night and was bright and clean
the hotel is old and could do with renovation to modernize it
which would make it a better hotel , we were given the wrong room when we arrived and after arguing with the reception they eventually agreed to move us the next morning ,
the room we moved into had an excellent sea and pool view as ordered but they need to update them, the electric sockets did not comply with the European socket ?? and we had to buy adaptors for this

the bar was quiet and not much atmosphere and after 7pm it was empty , they should look at this to make a better atmosphere

So we booked here due to this being the only hotel left on Sorrento with rooms £3000 for 5 days you would expect a little more than what we got ! My children in a different room on a different floor ! They are 4 7 and 12 !!! Really ! Rooms are dated and dirty the bathroom was mouldy with blown wood from the damp around the doors. This wasn’t the worst thing about the place.
Maid tried to get in 8.50am into our rooms!!! Woke my children up !
Night staff rude Criss was aggressive and intimidated us to leave. Not a nice experience when you are in a foreign country with children.
We left after 1 night they charged us for the whole stay even tho we told them
How unhappy we was ! The pool area dangerous my youngest cut his arm on rusty nail !
Avoid this hotel absolutely shocking if give it a 1star ! We are in Sorrento for a family wedding. And this had really upset me on what should be a happy weekend away.
Stole my sons sunglasses from his room when we asked they said nothing was in there when we know what we left ! Please avoid this place as it’s horrrific

I truly wanted to bash this prosperity, but there were some pleasantries that are not deserving of a bashing. The bar/pool team were awesome, very attentive and professional. The pool itself was immaculate. Not over chlorinated. The breakfast was delicious. Wide variety to choose from. Breakfast staff was also very friendly. The balcony view was so beautiful. Location is top notch as well.
The hotel has not been grand since 1984. It’s like visiting your grand parents that haven’t remodeled or updated their home since the 70s. The AC is controlled at the front desk (which I’ll address in my grievances paragraph next). Beds are dated as well. Furniture is weathered and torn. Baseboards and door frames peeling off. Outside of hotel’s control, but wouldn’t recommend the 4th floor. You can hear the chairs scrapping the floor from breakfast.
Now to the grievances, the night guest service agent is pathetic. He lacks professionalism and has the problem solving capabilities of my 2 year old. Internet went out. He tells me that I’m not the first to tell him if the problem, so I asked what he was going to do to address it; he called the manager. He doesn’t answer the phone, argues with you about turning the air down in the room (27 degrees is acceptable for his standard). Overall incompetent. Spent all 5 nights sleeping in our underwear on top of the sheets. Loved Sorrento, would recommend staying elsewhere.

The best things about this property is the pool however it closes at 6:00?? They say no lifeguard didn’t see one all week, next is location close to center.
Beds hard as burnt toast, ration soaps, towels, hotel run down and outdated. For $224 Euro the hotel was disappointing.

The staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful in regards to public transport, places to eat and places to visit.

Pool was very clean (cleaned every morning) and well positioned for people both kinds of people (shade and sunbathers).

Air conditioning kept the rooms very cool but adjustments can be made to the air con.

Road quite busing in the front of the hotel, would recommend staying at the back, facing the pool if possible.

We booked months ago and when we went to check in were told they were overbooked n offered a sister hotel around the corner. We felt it was a bait and switch. Other hotel was smaller n beds were not comfortable. They gave us a free meal at Hotel Flora dining room n that was mediocre. No discount on the room was given. First time we used Hotels.com n i would be hesitant to use them again as wonder if overbookings happen often.

Great staff, super clean and great location. Breakfast was always delicious and a they had a bag breakfast because we left early.

Very basic hotel

Hotel is ok, no real service as such. Had some strange experiences in trying to get water. Was hung up on twice and then they just let the phone ring out! Wouldn’t go back I’m afraid.

Nice hotel

Very accessible to the town and the railway station. Nowhere seemed to be more than 10-15 minutes away. Plenty of local bars and restaurants within 2-3 minutes of the hotel.

It was good, staff are friendly and helpful. The only thing is so dark at the lobby and front door, since We checked out at 5:30am, it was completely dark and made me felt and twist the ankle. Other than that, room is ok, breakfast is good.

Edmundo in the pool bar was fantastic. But I found the rest of the staff to be quite rude especially late night staff.
Food was poor at breakfast, however pool side food was lovely.

Good hotel for good value

Good pool and service. Room was clean and comfortable. The road was busy but didn't bother me that much. It was about a 10 minute walk from the centre, but still a great hotel

Fly Infested, Old, Dirty & Noisey

The hotel is infested with flies from the moment you walk in to the room itself. Dead flies in breakfast food and cups (don’t believe me, see photos attached).
Room is old and dirty - left over hair and dust.
Room is on the major noisey street, every 30 mins when the train passes the room shakes.
Elevator has been broken for 5 months.
A total rip off - mean staff and discusting hotel.

Wouldn't stay here again but they had a nice pool!

Pros: large, clean swimming pool; close walk to center of town; helpful reception.

Cons: room and bathroom were very small; the mattresses, linens, and pillows were very poor quality; telephone didn't work, tiny shower didn't drain properly... I alerted the front desk of both of these issues within an hour of checking in and they never sent anyone up to address it even though they said they would.

I was grateful we only booked one night. While the staff were friendly, timely responses to room issues were definitely not high on the priority list. I wouldn't stay here again.

Good location, shame about the room

Liked the hotel, staff were great, pool was lovely and breakfast was fine. But... Our room was like a cave! The \"balcony\" was behind a perspex panel next to the bar so no natural day light. We only stayed 3 nights and were hardly in the room so didn't matter too much but would have been very disappointed if there for longer.
