The hotel is located just a few short steps from the centre of Sorrento, thus enjoying a splendid position overlooking the sea and with a panoramic view of the entire Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. There are numerous bars and clubs nearby, while the bus and train station is about a 10-minute walk away.

Naples International Airport is about 65 km from the hotel. The warm welcome reserved for guests and the professionalism of the staff make this a first-class hotel, where guests can enjoy a holiday fully taken care of by the hospitality.

The beach hotel was fully renovated in 2008 and consists of a total of 110 rooms and suites. Guests are welcomed into a lobby with a 24-hour reception.

Further facilities include lift access, a bar and a breakfast room. The hotel rooms combine elegant styling and the simplicity of detail.

Large and sunny, most offer views over the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius or the surrounding gardens from the balcony or terrace. Each is en suite with a shower and hairdryer.

Grand Hotel Riviera is a five star hotel. The location is beautiful - just on the water in a quiet part of Sorrento, surrounded by open skies and lush trees. Service was top - as everyone from desk concierge to cleaning and restaurant service were friendly, helpful and accomodating. Breakfast in the lounge daily was heaven overlooking the sea! Swimming and sunning at the beach club was delicious. The room was clean, comfortable and convenient. Would definitely return, miss it already!!

The hotel was ideally situated, with beautiful views of the Bay of Naples.It was within easy reach of the town with all the amenities Sorrento offers.
The hotel was very well run, domestic staff did an excellent job of keeping our room clean, and reception staff were knowledgeable and organised and couldn’t have been more helpful.
All in all, we loved the Riviera.Breakfast staff were also unsurpassed, particularly Teresa, who made our experience extra special, by her attentiveness, and lovely smile.Tall man cooking omelettes was also fabulous!

The staff at Blu was exceptional. Giuseppe and Mario are truly five star staff. Traveling companions had an issue with the manager as they had to cut their stay short and she was unwilling to come out of her office to even discuss a refund or you a tab for the bar restaurant. Thankfully the rest of the staff understands customer service!

Service and amazing resort!

This property was impeccable. Every part of this resort sparkled! The staff was friendly and professional. This property was breath taking. The breakfast was delicious and elegantly presented! Dinner on the terrace was incredible. The staff was always offering a warm greeting and outstanding customer service. We were traveling with a teenager. I would not hesitate to reccomend this hotel. It is a resort where you can create wonderful memories. It was a dream come true!

Lovely hotel overall: lovely clean room, BEAUTIFUL VIEWS, very walkable to restaurants, wonderful deck down on the private swimming cove with loungers and snack bar, helpful and friendly staff.

The only reason for 4 stars not 5 is that the breakfast was not good. Maybe it's petty to take it down a whole star, but every other hotel we stayed at in Italy had either a great breakfast or an EXCELLENT breakfast (included with the room). Sadly, at Grand Hotel Riviera the cappuccinos were meh, pastries were just okay, juice had a weird plastic-y taste to it, all the fresh fruit was cold and not ripe, the chocolate cake was dry and stale-tasting. It was so disappointing cause we loved everything else about this place but bad breakfast is so easy to fix and would take this place to the next level.

The location and views are amazing. We had me of the best meals of our trip. The aircon was not yet functional, but the front desk did offer a fan. We just left the terrace door open.

Stayed at this hotel on previous occasions. It is a beautiful hotel with lovely pool and lido areas. The accommodation and staff are excellent as always.
The only negative comment is that half board option is no longer available. Although we did use the hotel restaurants we found the menu to be too limited which was disappointing in comparison to the previous half board menu which was fantastic! Also, the restaurants had to be booked in advance and were not always available.

Great view, everything else lacking

So the positives - the room had a great view + the staff at the private beach (another positive is the private beach) were fantastic. Breakfast was good also and the omelette station was excellent.

However, the negatives. When checking out it took 15 minutes longer than needed as it seemed staff were more interested in having breakfast than us making our ferry.

The bed....well, you might as well sleep on the stone floor.

Ants outside (can't do much about that really) but a few got in and overall cleanliness was just lacking.

The shower was in a corner bath which, although nice (if you minus the mould), needed a step ladder to get into and 5'10\".

Finally, you can hear every door slamming in the whole building and, if you want to pay for the Deluxe Sea Room, know that the breakfast bar is above and you WILL hear each time a chair is moved in the morning. So don't expect sleep.

The whole place needs a revamp.

But the view is nice and it is convenient to get into town.

The grand hotel riveria was a grand stop on our vacation. The view from our room was. Beautiful. The facilities were kept as if they were brand new. Great choices at breakfast as you look at the sea. Staff was very professional and went above and beyond. Front desk even took the lead in asking my travel plans a day before i left to make sure it was covered. The only thing i would suggest is that they include a shower mat. The tub is narrow and curved edges causing it to be very slippery.

First, getting to location by rent a car was horrible. Second, my room was on the 5th floor too loud from customers passing hallway after drinks on Terrace for the two nights i stayed. But I must say front desk very accomodating.

The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, overseeing the Gulf of Naples, with Mount Vesuvius in the backdrop. It has a private sundeck/beach and the general decor is beautiful. The staff are also all friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included, and it’s delicious! Unfortunately, we were possibly given the noisiest room in the hotel - right next to the service lift. Despite there being other rooms available (available on hotel.com), we weren’t given other choices to change/upgrade. This spoilt our anniversary somewhat

The facility itself and the attention to its upkeep alive up to the “Grand” in the property’s name. Looking forward to a repeating the visit. All of the front desk and beach staff were superlative. There are gems in the dining room (including three Luigi’s), but there is inconsistency across servers. The bar staff were generally aloof and inattentive, but nothing that will give me a second thought about returning - I will simply go up to the them to order a drink rather than waiting to be served.

Lovely Hotel in Sorrento

We had a great time at the Grand Hotel Rivera. Our room was a partial sea view and our balcony overlooked the pool and the sea which was stunning. The breakfast offers many options from sweets, to meats, to fruit, etc and includes champagne. They make a great cappuccino so ask for that. We did the half board so dinner was also included. We only utilized it twice in our stay, but came in handy when my husband wasn't feeling well enough to go down to dinner. When I mentioned this to the staff they prepared him a meal and sent it to our room. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk to city center and the train station, but is out of the way from the hoards of people, and the walk takes you by a beautiful picture spot. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we return to Sorrento.

Overall good experience. Clean room, good breakfast helpful front desk.

Small complain. Lunch restaurant and bar waiters did not allow to sit at a table on the sunny side of the terrace in almost empty restaurant and argued that the table was for 6, but we were only 3. Party of 6 never materialized and the table was occupied by 2 people. Ridiculous.

We booked the hotel last minute and couldn't have asked for more. The hotel is clean and comfortable with staff who couldn't do more for you. 10 minute walk to the town situated by the coast. We felt so relaxed from the minute we arrived. Wish we could have stayed for longer.

I had the corner suite facing the sea with a wraparound balcony. It was perfect. The beds were firm, but with some give. The pillows were firmer too, which I like. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. The location was about a 15min walk from the piazza taso (main square) so we were far enough from the bustle/noise but close enough for easy access. Amazing views.

Fantastic Stay in Sorrento!

What a great stay at Grand Hotel Riveria! The property, while older, is in great condition and located in a central spot in relation to shopping/sightseeing/relaxing on the water. The breakfast included was fantastic and offered a great variety of hot and cold foods. The best part....the waterfront views! You can take the lift down to a nice dock area with lounge chairs, snack bar, and access to the water. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Sorrento! We were able to do day trips to Positano, Ravello, and Pompeii which was a plus too.

Great location right on the water with wonderful views. Crisp all-white interiors offer perfect respite from the heat and sun. Lovely pool area. 15 minute walk to the beautiful old part of town. Sorrento itself is gorgeous ….. plan to spend at least one evening exploring the old town!

Nice hotel but noisy

We spent a week here and really can't fault the hotel for appearance and style - we would definelty recommend paying extra for a seaview room. However, we found that the rooms were not sound proofed, so was kept up by noises coming from the corridor and other rooms during the night and found the cleaners made a lot of noise in the corridor each morning, which meant we didn't get a good night's sleep for the whole week we stayed here.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed here for 2 nights in July and it wasn't enough! Unfortunately, we had a very stressful and unpleasant journey down to Sorrento as there was a train strike which left us stranded in Naples for several hours. We called the Reception for advice and they were very helpful offering to book us a cab and advising us about other modes of transport. When we finally arrived at the hotel very hot and bothered, we were greeted by the staff and told we had been given a complimentary room upgrade which definitely lifted our spirits! The views from our room (and the rest of the hotel) were beautiful and the perfect place to relax. My boyfriend and I travelled around Italy for 3 weeks this summer and Grand Hotel Riviera and Sorrento itself were definitely a highlight.

Fantastic hotel in Sorrento.

We stayed for three nights and couldn't be more impressed by the level of cleanliness, comfort and service during our stay. The view from the hotels were amazing, uninterrupted views over to Vesuvius and Naples. Some of the outstanding moments of our stay included: the 'snack bar' lunches with great service and amazing reasonably priced food with the best view in Sorrento. Dinners/Sunset on the terrace overlooking Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. The free towels (no need to take your own) for use by the pool and on the bathing deck. Air conditioned rooms with electronic shutters that block out all the light. A free safe. Huge Queen sized comfortable beds... the list goes on!

The hotel is approximately 10 minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento. Ask for a sea view or partial sea view on a higher floor, we were on the second floor and had a fab view of the lemon groves/mountains/sea. The transfer took just over 1 hour by bus and takes you to the train station approx 10 minutes walk from the hotel. It costs 10 Euros and waits outside the arrivals area of Naples Airport and has 6 stops en route but gives lovely views of the coast. We booked a taxi back to the Airport which costs £70 booked in advance and took less time.
