The room and ensuite were spotless, we arrived after the cut-off time but were still welcome as it was only 5 minutes late. The manager called us to make sure we still wanted the room around 9 pm and we said we did but would be just late as we were marshalling on a local rally, pity we missed the bar but that was our fault. 5*

Check in was quick an easy. Out of hours access was also handy.

We were not that impressed by the room. We didn't complain as we were only staying for one night and had plans to meet family and friends so only needed somewhere to sleep. It was also cheap. However, the soap dispenser and tissue dispenser had fallen off the wall and were just balanced on the shelf. The bedding had lots of stains, tiles were falling off in the bathroom and the floorboards creaked throughout. The pub itself is lovely, the hotel side could just use a little renovation. However, if you want somewhere cheap around Newland Avenue, then here is an option

No thrills satisfaction hotel

I had a room in the back of the hotel near a noisy boiler / air conditioning unit. Given it was a warm evening in the summertime it was an uncomfortable night.

Ideal for Uni visits at a fair price.

Perfect location to visit Hull Uni. Parking available. Room was Ok but one ceiling light was not working. The bathroom was clean but needed some t.l.c. Bedroom was a good size and clean. good facilities. bed mattress was too soft for my wife and I but comfortable. Outside lights to the back of the property were still on around 1..30 pm which disturbed our sleep pattern a bit. In the morning 2 delivery lorries arrived (separately) and had some difficulty manoeuvring onto the rear car park. Might be worth mentioning to guests that deliveries are expected so park carefully. Both drivers were very careful. We will stay here again:)

The room felt incredibly cold, and I had received a call about the lack of heating, so I was already aware of the issue. The iron provided was more like a \"toy iron\" and didn't function properly. The television in the room was smaller than my phone. The food seemed to be microwaved, and the coffee served during breakfast appeared to be nothing more than colored water.

The location is excellent if you are visiting the University. Parking was no problem. Staff were friendly. Our room was a bit tired and we had a portable oil filled radiator provided, that did not provide much heat, as the plumbed radiators were not on.
On our visit the kitchens were closed so there was no breakfast or evening meal option. Fortunately there are plenty of dining options in the vicinity.
Personal gripe was that for a pub they did not offer any real ales.

Reasonable stay. Clean and nicely presented room with a desk and tea/coffee making facilities. Restaurant was closed and no meals/breakfast available. No heating on in my room when I arrived and it was very cold. When returning to my room after work on Day 2 the door had been left unlocked by the cleaning staff whilst my belongings were still in there. Great hospitality from the bar staff in the evening.

I have stayed here a few times and it is very consistent. Friendly staff, good food and drink, very good value, just opposite the university so good location.
My main issue is they don't provide plant based milk even though they have vegan options for breakfast meals! The staff said it isn't on their order list. Please get some soya milk for non dairy tea and coffee! Also the water in the tea urn was luke warm. The staff said it was Greene King policy. Ridiculous. The coffee was piping hot.

Easy and quick check in and friendly staff. Hotel was very convenient for where I needed to be. However, the room was disappointing. I wasn't expecting much for what I paid but I felt that the room was very tired and worn and fell below my expectations. There was a large stain on the wall that looked like someone had thrown a drink at it. The carpets looked dirty and old. Not all the lights in the room worked and the taps didn't work well. Having said that, for one night and the short time I was in the room, it was comfortable and did the job.

We were visiting the university of Hull and this hotel was perfectly located. Rooms were clean and practical. We could hear the music from the pub till 11pm but it wasn't an issue as we weren't asleep earlier. The interior feels old - looks like from the 80s, but as mentioned, it's clean. Globally a good value for the price (around £50 per room).

Booked the overnight stay here as it is next to Hull uni where I was visiting my son. The staff were friendly and professional. The pub was lively and had a great food and drink menu. The room was cosy, modern, and had tea and coffee making facilities. The bed was so so comfortable and the shower was powerful and refreshing. It was very reasonably priced. I will definitely be staying here again.

Cracking location for the University

The room was dated however the bed was very soft and comfortable (Rm4) and the shower was excellent! Having the restaurant and pub below was very convenient and the 20% discount was great too! The parking at the front and rear was shared with the pub customers so was a challenge around 5pm but that eased off as the night wore on so overnight parking was not an issue.

we were a disabled couple and the bedroom was at back of the hotel.
it was up a series set of stairs along a fairly long corrador through at least 8 fire doors an up and down stairs. certainly not any good for elderly or disabled. no hot water and the sink plug would not hold the water. Breakfast was excellent. music in bar was to loud.

A tale of 2 rooms.

The room I was given on the first night had no heating but i put up with it as it was late. Next morning I found out that there was no hot water and the shower water was cold. As it was too early for anyone to be on reception I had to put up with this.
I complained the next day and was begrudgingly given a different room which was modern, warm and well fitted out. The room from the first night ( number 16) is not fit for use in my view.

If you want student accommodation from the 80s then this is it otherwise it’s awful. The shower was broken, the toilet seat was wobbly , the soap holders were hanging off the wall, the furniture is tired and looks like some thing out of your great grandmothers house . There was a funny smell in the corridors and the room.

The plus side the bedding and towels were clean and the staff were lovely .

The room was suitable but it was difficult to work the radiators the one in the double room worked but only on high the one in the single room and the bathroom didn't work. The shower also didn't work. The bed was clean and comfortable unfortunately the staff in the care home next door were outside smoking and chatting loudly at 3am which was disturbing. The pub food was very good and reasonably priced the staff were courteous and helpful. I don't think i will stay the night again but would eat in the pub.

But….
The accommodation was one of the worst I’ve stayed in and I’ve stayed in some rough places in the past
For £80 I expected a lot better
Just to get to your room was like an army assault course and the smells walking down the corridors were gut wrenching…
When I open my door the heat and smell of the room hit me like a shovel.
It had two radiators both of which were running at full pelt…
All the windows were open but that didn’t make a difference to the 100 degree heat..
It turned out the radiators were jammed and you couldn’t turn them off…
The kitchen was below my room and all I could hear were the fans all night
I complained to the manger and took him to my room but he couldn’t do anything about it…
I even had to clean the bath out because it was dirty!!!!
I have traveled the world working and worked in every corner of the U.K.
but this is by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed…
Believe it or not I’m not one for leaving bad reviews but this was an absolute nightmare….
