The room was excellent. Comfortable beds. Quiet and warm as the weather outside was forecast snow.
Hotel was clean and the staff were helpful. Food in the restaurant was so good and the prices were very, very good. My son and I had a good sleep and a great breakfast the following morning. We would definitely stay here again.

Staff appeared disinterested. For example at breakfast no glasses, no mugs and no coffee. Chipped crockery. Observed a number of staff having a chat as far away as possible from the breakfast area. Only one member of staff appeared to be working. Staff were most animated when it was time to clear the breakfast area.

Good location, a bus stop just a few minutes away and most importantly quiet. The only downfall would be the lack of maintenance in the room itself, the mirror light in the bathroom was cracked a didn’t work, the bathroom fan wasn’t working and generally the room lacked a good refresh. Looked very well used.

Decent hotel in a good location, big bed to enjoy myself with the husband and wife threesome I organised through Tinder. Stayed their for three nights and staff were nice, didn't eat in the place as its cheap food. My guests were happy with the room whilst we entertained ourselves.

First the positives. The staff are really helpful and friendly, good bathroom towels, a powerful hot shower and a large, reasonably comfortable bed.
The negatives. The bathroom could do with deep clean, a non functioning grubby mirror light, rusty bin and pink mould on the shower head. Not great. The hallway carpets are also in a very sad state.
Breakfast was very average for the money.
I did message the hotel about check in times but received no response

No sleep for me. Generator in car park outside room going day and night and room was really hot so had a choice of be hot and annoyed or open the window the generator be even louder.
Also lights on side of building on all night shining through curtains.

This is my 3rd or 4th visit. The room price reasonable and having the restaurant attached means you can dip in and out as you need. The purpose of our visit was to see family and friends.

The mattress in room 4 was poor. It ha a big dip in it. When I sat on the bedside, the dip in the bed meant I fell sideways. And similar when lying in bed, I rolled towards the middle.and woke every morning with a lump in my back. I didn't mention it until leaving as we had a busy schedule and changing rooms would have been a nuisance. I hope the staff took this on board.
The staff are friendly and informative and at times very busy, meaning they couldn't be in 2 places at once. Ie not at hotel but somewhere else.

Value for money? I guess so especially when using Tesco points.

Please check your mattresses more regularly this is a basic for any where offering overnight stays.

The Kingstown Experience

The first thing I would point out is the the staff, to a person, were friendly, helpful, happy to answer our questions and in my opinion the hotels best asset. We experienced different people doing the same role over our two days, they all were the above.

Prior to booking in, we had endured a six and a half hour journey from Hertfordshire, with the A1 a virtual cark park at certain points, this included being taken on a one way street tour of central Hull once we had crossed the Humber Toll Bridge. So we arrived around 19.30 for check in (member of staff on the desk until 20.00) and were allocated room 35. This turned out to be the furthest room away from reception on the left wing as you look at the front entrance picture. Lugging our gear through multiple fire doors we became quite adroit at by the end of our stay.

We found the bed fine to sleep in with a good mattress. The heating was turned off, but it was not essential this time of year. The shower worked fine but was in a fixed position, so if you were of small stature and wanted a shower without getting your hair wet (as some ladies prefer), you were out of luck unless you had brought along your own shower cap.

When originally booking, I went for the breakfast included option. This I recommend, we had the full English, there was also a choice of cereals, breads, pastries; the staff were attentive and friendly without being intrusive, which we appreciated.

We also used the night porter to get in around midnight.

Hotel a bit run down, advised hotel manager at the time that the corridor smelled really bad of marijuana, he said it happens all the time and did nothing about it.

Need accommodation for our crew for up coming work in the area, will look for alternatives.

Review your cooking processes!

Cleanliness ok. Food was extremely disapointing across 3 meals. Decided to just bring in a pre packed sandwich on 2nd night after rock hard burger night before. Breakfast - nice guy very interactive but no checkbacks. Extremely poor full english. Forgot beans, cold shriveled mushy half tom, microwaved sausage that had gone hard and split. Bacon ok. Coffee cold both mornings and dribbling out of jug.

I was disappointed in the interior it’s very tatty and in desperate need of refurbishment.dining facilities were poor for breakfast.the toaster cremated the toast and if you turned it down it still cremated the edge whilst the centre remained almost untouched.the bed was not made on my second day, and the room wasn’t hoovered. A lot of the time there was no one in reception as the ey were helping out in the restaurant. The outside was covered in litter and cigarette button the Saturday morning,clearly appearance is not a priority.Although the price was reasonable I was verquite disssapointed. Only stay here if your desperate I will not return.the only thing that was good was staff ,they were very friendly and very helpful.

Superb value for money - will be returning!

Really enjoyed my stay here and was very impressed. What really made it was the lovely team - every single staff member I encountered went out of their way to be helpful. The room was immaculately clean too. With the Hungry Horse nearby and shops you don't have to get into your car for, you've got everything in one spot, and it's easy to get to. Definitely going to come back here again. There are only two negatives; the corridors look a little tired, although the room I was in wasn't once inside, and the room was a little cool, and I couldn't work out how to adjust the radiator. Not enough to stop me returning though, as it's a good hotel at a very reasonable price.

Many things in the room were broken, table lamp, bathroom heater, bathroom light, bathtub cover, etc. The staff was homophonic and rude. I was ignored by several bartenders and treated badly by 2 front desk workers. English Breakfast was minuscule. Overall bad experience. Would not recommend to anyone especially LGBT couples.

Ideal place to stay but couple of things to fix

Handy for where we were visiting, great that it has a pub and restaurant and the rooms all on one site.
Downsides were the toilet barely flushed, not even enough to get rid of two sheets of loo roll on their own, we had to fill the kettle with the bath tap and use that to flush.
Also the nice new smart tv didn’t appear to have an aerial into it so no channels and no option to tune in and wasn’t connected to any Wi-Fi for iplayer etc to work. I’m quite techy and didn’t see how to connect it.
Big cracks in the wall too so decor could do with attention.
Room was quiet and the bed was big and comfortable.
Despite the couple of faults we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, we mentioned the flush and telly issues on departure so hopefully they’ll look into that.

Staff were friendly, let down by the room, i could open my door with a spoon from the outside due to the massive gap between the door and the frame, no other room offered, despite my concerns of security. Large patch of filler on the wall that had not been rubbed down and painted. Black mold on the bathroom sealant, bath panel had seen better days, the towel rail kept falling off and the extractor in the bathroom didn’t work. I know it's quite old but needs updating. Mattresses were cheap spring ones that were not very comfortable, so didn’t get the best nights sleep. Despite these problems the general cleanliness was good, bedding and towels spotless. Breakfast was average, nothing to write home about. I've stayed in better accommodation for the same price or less, so unfortunately will not be booking here again.

I a little disappointed, the place was a little scruffy and the room was right at the end of a very long corridor, for the price it was okay, the TV in the room didn't work which was very disappointing as we didn't want to go to far or do to much. The staff are great they came to look at the TV it was obvious they didn't know what they were looking at but they tried. They also gave us breakfast for free as an apology.

A very nice budget hotel. Friendly staff who were extremely helpful when I left a backpack of clothes behind and agreed to pack them up to send home if I organised a courier pick up. Meal at the Hungry Horse restaurant exceeded expectations and was incredible value for money.

Rooms in need of refurbishment, my mattress was firm with a dip in it, no USB plugs, weak toilet flush, bad WiFi and poor lighting.

The bath is very slippy and narrow so shower curtain sticks to you when using the shower. The extractor fan didn’t work in the bathroom and the switch to turn it on was unreachable on the ceiling. After struggling to turn it on it didn’t even work.

Staff all very friendly, no problems with check in or breakfast it’s just the facilities are very dated. Ok for a one night.
