Overall the stay was ok, the room was a good size for our family and breakfast was nice. However the hotel was a little run down and the pool and hot tub were cold. We didn't have a very enjoyable evening meal experience either as the staff made hard work of the ordering process and complicated it through having to order some bits from the bar and then waiting to order other bits from the restaurant menu. When i asked the main manager on duty what the food was like and what she recommended in the restaurant i was told i wouldn't know I've never eaten here so how would i know what its like. Great! Not impressed.

We had a family room wasn't very nice...looked like some sort of meeting room or something. Very odd design, in rather a tired state and oddly furnished. The bed was in a separate room with doors and was nice but the bathroom tiny and felt like in a broom cupboard.

Our Key card failed everytime so had to walk back to reception leaving my son and bags etc. The room was all the way at the back of the hotel so this was a pain, too.

Reception was deserted, apart from on arrival where I had a lovely chat with the staff member about martial arts. Very bad especially when needing a key card redone in the evenings. I called the number as said on reception phone to alert staff but no answer. Maybe staff shortages or just one person on night shift but really annoying and bad customer service.

There was a fire alarm at 3 am and not only was this upsetting, scary and exhausting after our 7 hr drive, but it was badly managed by the hotel. Or didn't seem to be managed at all. Again assume due to not enough staff but the guests were left to sort ourselves out, no one came to role call/count heads or to tell us to come back in etc. Absolutely awful. Rumours were that someone was smoking and the night shift guy was checking rooms but not good enough. A member of staff should have come out to check us and keep informed.

At breakfast- a great selection, unfortunately the eggs we ordered arrived after finished our plates. Took 20mins to scramble them!

Jacuzzi didn't work.

Very disappointed in the Privilege upgrade room, very dated and below standard to many hotels standard facilities, noise from next room tv from 11.45pm until 2pm unbearable, staff did go have have a word once we spoke to them but made our stay unenjoyable.

We have stayed here several times as the location is excellent for our visits to see relatives. It has become apparent that this hotel requires significant investment and updating. The rooms are pleasant enough and the beds comfortable, but they are looking tired . On this visit, we booked a Privilege Room, but it didn’t feel like an up grade. It was cold on entry and didn’t warm up much despite having the heater on permanently. The bathroom just isn’t up to standard - no heated rail so towels don’t dry, no shelf, no hooks and of more concern, no grab rail in the bath/shower and no non slip mat. We did ask at reception for a bath mat but nothing appeared. On top of that, there was the fire alarm at 2:30 am one morning (false alarm) for which no hotel staff appeared to be in control of. The breakfasts are usually good here though one morning the hot food items ran out and were not replenished for some 10/15 minutes. We have some sympathy with the staff who generally do their best though as with many places, there are not enough of them. We would stay there again due to the location but improvements would be appreciated.

We arrived at 10:30 at night after a long journey. We checked in quickly and went to the room which was the furthest from reception. Neither keys worked and so I had to go back to the reception to get new keys. Once we got in our “privilege” room which we paid extra for there was an overwhelming smell of mould, we had to open the windows to air the room however the smell outside was even worse - it smelt like a dump!! The duvet was too small for the bed but it was late and we were tired.
We got up to get a shower - the shower gel was empty so had to use the shampoo.
I complained to the reception about the smell and lack of shower gel and I was assured the room would be deep cleaned. I returned to the room and also reminded the maid that we had no shower gel and the room smelt bad and she acknowledged it would get sorted. After a day out with our family we got back to our room and it had not been serviced and the smell was worse than ever. We had no towels which we had let outside the room - they had gone but nothing to replace them and the shower gel was still empty. We were unable to get a shower the next morning despite telling the reception we had no towels - no effort was made to bring us replacements. This is a mercure and I would not recommend it to anyone. We had a slip outside our window and a half demolished wall the other side I hate to think what a regular room is like if this is a superior room. Very disappointed despite several complaints nothing was done.

Clean hotel, comfy bed, it was a great stay for 2 nights. Staff were very friendly and check-in process was very quick. The free use of facilities (gym & pool) was a bonus although do expect children’s classes going on as well. Hotel in good location as McDonald’s & KFC just a min away plus few othe shops. Overall, I’d recommend as good value gor money.

This hotel is well known to me and is absolutely fine but if you book a 'privilege' room do be aware that the privilege is not yours but the hotels for you staying with them and paying the extra, unless you describe a somewhat worn room, especially the 1980s bathroom, with associated fungi around the bath taps and caked limescale on the showerhead, and no fridge, a privilege... You do get a coffee machine and pods and slippers and gown though.! But overall it's perfectly comfortable and will be fine...

It was ok I found the flags very dangerous behind the hotel were you have tables and chairs near the gym and swimming pool not level at all.
As for my toilet in my room it didn’t work properly at all .
I did ask for it to be repaired however no one came to fix it

Very poor experience. Stayed for 2 nights:
The room smelt of mould and sewage;
Hairs in the bed and toothpaste in sink;
Paper thin walls, we could hear other guests snoring all night;
Condensation on the windows, these windows were very old and needed replacing asap;
Our key card stopped working when we arrived back to the hotel at midnight, it was a struggle to find someone to help us back into our room;
The shower was but a trickle, a very unpleasant experience.

In conclusion, this was one of the worst hotels we’ve stayed in in the UK

Young girl on reception took a phone call for 5 minutes whilst I stood at check in. Lift out order. Waiting staff at dinner good but food bad. Asked at the bar for a G&T after and told they had no glasses, did I want something else. Said no, please can you find one. He said they only have 6 and they were in use but if I could wait, he’d go to another locked bar. Came back with a lipstick marked gin glass which I wiped myself. Room walls paper thin, hear the American man next door on the phone for an hour. Next morning, rang own at 6:45 an ordered a soya decaf latte and veggie sausage bap to the room, along with a little jug of soya milk for tea in the room as milk intolerant which was advised on check in. The man at reception said he’d never made a latte before and would go and check if they did vegi sausages which were on the menu. 20 minutes later, 2 male night staff knocked on my door, one carrying the sausage bap and spilled coffee, the other carrying a jug of soy milk. I said awkwardly didn’t they have a tray and they said they never thought. After they left, opening the bap, it was bone dry. I had to walk 15 minutes to reception (no lift) to ask for ketchup. The man on service, who delivered the bap, is not capable of the roll and I do not mean that as a negative against him, it’d wrong of management to have left him alone on a night shift where he could not manage. That’s why I walked as against rang down, it was not fair on that member of staff. Sausages raw, uncooked

Booked and paid for this property via Expedia an hour before arrival. I booked as it was supposed to be a 4 Star Hotel. It definitely isn’t.

On arrival, from the outside it looks ok. I went to check in and I was asked to pay, and even though I explained that I had paid via Expedia, I was told it wasn’t showing as paid on their system. So paid with my credit card. I went up to the room, checked my online account and sure enough, charged twice. Although I will say it was significantly cheaper to book direct with the hotel than via Expedia. So I won’t be using Expedia any more! Give the hotel credit, it was refunded when I checked out.

Now the hotel room… Hottest day of the year and the hotel doesn’t have aircon. The “opening windows” was a 1 inch gap, stifling heat, but the hotel did provide a fan.

Carpets dirty and stained, walls similar. Bathroom had a broken towel rail, broken toilet flush, and the inside of the toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Open electrical socket in the bathroom, filthy ceiling lights, dirty walls, door handles and mouldy windows… list goes on.

I then laid on the top of the bed and then was bitten three times by something!

All in all, a tired, dated hotel that certainly should not have that fourth star! Two star plus at best.

Nightmare evening.

My partner and I were so excited to spend a night away, our first from our 5 month old son. Everything was great to start. There was an event on and our room was by the event space, music was loud but we knew it would stop eventually. The issue came after the event ended when a couple returned to their room next to ours with multiple people. They had their own party which kept both of us up, I was about to complain to reception when there was a knock on their door and they were asked to leave so it quitened down but they returned shortly after and continued to make noise until 4:30. Neither of us slept which was what we were most excited for, we complained the next morning about the noise. Management told us their had been multiple complaints put in as a result of the noise and that was it. We spent upwards of £200 whilst there on food and drink and they couldn't even offer us discount on our next stay or free breakfast as a goodwill gesture. I would not recommend going as they won't remove inconsiderate guests and don't compensate you for having to put up with them.

Room was double booked on arrival so not room i had initially booked, however after a complaint they managed to find me a privilege room i had booked. Swimming and facilities in desperate need of refurb.
Restaurant staff running round like headless chickens 3 people tsking my room service order then tried to sit me down. Asked for room service but wasnt booked at room service no fsult of my own so had to wait in hotel area for myself to take it to room. One positive the hotel manager was a very pleasant lady and apologised for my inconvenience. Sorry but will not be returning.

Work away all over the country every week always stay in hotels with a spa as this is what I spend my evenings doing ,
To my disappointment the steam room was closed and jacuzzi not even warm I should of booked the village hotel as similar price £115 a night and not even a email the day before telling me spa not in use would of cancelled and got a refund !
Not even offered a free drink or meal
Next visit in a few weeks I will be booking the village

Didn’t like the stay at all, every-time when I’d order a drink they would put ice in it that would make it taste like drain water. The receptionist was giving me creepy vibes! One lady had an attitude, & one other lady walked into our room whilst we was sleeping around 9:13am didn’t even knock & had put a door letter on my handle saying something about not coming in yet. Don’t think I’d ever stay here again. The Bed was just like rock.

The staff in the hotel are all super friendly and helpful. Simple things like remembering where you sat the night before at dinner give a personal touch.
There are parts of the hotel which do need updating though. Everything is clean and the beds are comfy but some areas look a little tired for example the bathrooms.

In the bar area there were chairs with torn seats.
In the room the carpet was worn, the curtains were not a good fit for the windows so light not blocked and marks on bedding. The bathroom was dated with cracked tiles and towel rail coming away from the wall.
