Room was tired, dirty and generally not in good order. Booked this hotel solely so i could use the pool after a long day on the road with work. Arrived to be advised it wasnt included and they wanted £14 for me have a swim. I had a matress cover that was too small squeezed over my bed making it bend up and become all out of shape ....wont be returning!!

What a great find. Cave Castle is a lovely hotel and the staff are amazing. I contacted the hotel a few days before with some requests regarding my wife as she has mobility issues. One was for the room to be on the ground floor or close to the lift and the other was for extra pillows as my wife has to sleep upright.
When we arrived the staff on reception pulled out our check0in notes and informed us that everything was set up as per our request.
The staff are warm and friendly as well as helpful. If you want a base for exploring this part of Yorkshire come here and you won't be dissapointed.

The staff on reception awful and unhelpful towards my disabilty .didnt offer any assistance into and within the building. Other guests helped me.
The room was beautiful, but no emergency call system And no telephone in the room.it was the furthest room from reception and had to go.outside to get to it.
Access to fhe block was ramped but too steep a gradient to get in independently.

Beautiful place from the outside, lovely space. Inside was dark but i liked it, some bits need modernisation, taps in room struggled to flow with the pressure being low. Pool area was nice and quiet and sauna was good. Breakfast was nice. Biggest downfall waswas music going on till 1am so i could ot sleep at all

Very pleased with my stay, the Gentleman at the reception was extremely welcoming - shame I didn't ask his name, but he was very kind and helpful, even though I arrived at midnight he gave me all the information about the hotel and showed me where my room was. He also stayed for another couple of minutes to make sure my card key is working and I'm in the room, safe and sound. Thank you!

Lovely venue and historical features are fabulous. Heating an issue - in cold for a few hours in a really icy spell outside (Room 29) but working with Amy she mended the boiler after a while and room warmed up from 9pm onwards. Amy was very helpful - thank you.
Breakfast was good and staff really helpful.

One of the bath towel's had dirty marks on. One of the hand towels had a hole in. Drinks order wasn't taken in restaurant; had to go to bar to place order there. Restaurant wasn't busy, 5 tables in total. Food was lovely though & wasn't waiting long after ordering for food to arrive.

The stay was ok. But the ladt night we stayed we was not allowed to park on the car park meaning we had to park over a mile away and walk. This was a challenge when leaving the following day when we had ti carry our luggage a mile down the road. This was due to having a party on. So please when you are booking ask about parking as this was not good enough speciall when it was terencial rain. They didnt even say sorry. We booked this over 5 months in advance. Woman on recepection couldnt have cared less. Breakfast was not worth paying for.

Key card didn't work on arrival so had to return to reception which was very annoying
My room was on the second floor the lift would only go to the first floor so had to use the stairs with my luggage several times and it was like that for the duration of my stay.
The television in my room had no remote so I couldn't use it reported it straight away and the next day and again when I checked out
I hope the next guest fairs better than I did
Couldn't leave curtains open in my room there was a ladder outside the window.

The room has everything you need, with socks at both sides of the bed. However, the mattress felt old as you could feel the springs and the hotel in general requires a full refurbishment.
We wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed at Cave Castle for a few days last week (15-18 September) as part of a Yorkshire coast road trip-something a bit different we thought to your average hotel. Nice setting, great spa with a nice pool and well equipped gym. Good dining too, in both the Courtyard & the Windsor Restaurant. The staff were generally terrific, very pleasant & helpful, so it's a shame that the blonde lady with glasses on reception when we checked out somewhat spoiled things. Carrying on a conversation with another staff member for two minutes while ignoring guests who are waiting to check out is quite rude. Similarly, when asked about the carved bears in the property, she dismissively advised us to \"look at the scrolling screen, all the information is on there, or just look at the website\". We're checking out, it's an easy enough question. If you know, why not just tell us? If you don't know, why not? Sorry to interrupt your busy day, but the clue is that you work in \"hospitality\". What a rude woman, and what a disappointing end to an otherwise extremely pleasant stay at Cave Castle.

We had booked the whole weekend to celebrate my husband's birthday so it was a huge disappointment to me when I saw the shabby room we had been allocated and wished I'd asked to upgrade.

However, when we had to complain about the TV not working to the Receptionist, and was told \"that was it\" and \"we were lucky to have a smart TV in our room, not everyone has,\" it set the tone for the whole of the weekend.

The bathroom I have to say was spotless, if a little tired and old. The shower was a leaky mess that refused to budge, the shower curtain - inadequate - barely reached the top of the bath. There was old, badly applied mastik in areas I didn't wish to see.

The TV, as I said, didn't pick up any of the apps on the remote and we had Freeview or nothing, so that was annoying because why advertise smart TVs if you then can't supply wired internet or decent wifi to run them?

It was also very old and so small that we couldn't see it from the bed, which was shoehorned into the opposite end of the L-shaped room.

The storage would have been adequate but there were hinges hanging off that banged when the doors were closed and zero hangers. The carpet was old, tired and badly marked.

There was a definite lack of electric sockets for chargers, kindles, etc and the curtains weren't lined, so we woke at dawn with the sun.

These things might seem picky but the ads for Cave Castle boast luxury, and this wasn't it.

There was more but this awful website only gives me 1500 characters.

Good stay overall. The food wasn't as good as usual in the restaurant which was disappointing and were allocated a different room to the one requested. The room we chose was large & comfortable, didn't like the shower room though, would have prefered a bath and higher basin. The leisure club was great, as always, definitely need air-conditioning in the changing rooms though on hot days as it's unbearable getting ready without it after using the facilities. Breakfast was good, maybe not as much choice as there has been previously but overall, still a good, relaxing stay.

Their was a humming noise coming from the fan in the bathroom that took ages to turn off breakfast was £12.50 wasnt the best but it was all you can eat and had plebty of options full english , continental, cereal, fruits warm and cold drinks also included with breakfast was acess to the pool,gym,ducuzi, steam room and sauna .Took a lovely trip out over the humber bridge to rhe veiwpoint and called in at cleethorpes. Overall it was a fantastic stay and i woukd come again to explore more of the grounds

Attended a beautiful wedding here, the grounds and house are beautiful. The bedroom was nice and big, but they couldn’t do separate beds like I had requested so had to share with my mum. The mattress was very firm which wasn’t the best but manageable and the pillows weren’t the best. Bathroom was a good size but the shower was quite rusty. Overall was good for an overnight stay after a couple drinks; but would want different if staying for more than one night

Great stay for a couple!

My partner and I had a lovely relaxing stay at Cave Castle.
It is a stunning place and the grounds are immaculate.
We took advantage of the gym and spa facilities, they were a great extra!
Lots of choice for meals as there’s 3 restaurants on site and a bar area.

Theres a nice looking golf course on site if that’s your thing but we aren’t in to that so didn’t try it.

We booked a double room but when we arrived were put in to a very dated, dingy looking twin room (with a view of a back car park) it was literally two beds pushed together not even trying to look like one bed with one headboard etc. it was just blatantly two single beds with a double duvet over. When looking at our guest card our original room number that they had allocated us had been scribbled out and changed to 114 (said dinghy twin room) so we couldn’t help but think that we had been given a lesser standard room because they were quite full with having a wedding on.
That’s the only thing we really have to “complain” about.

However the reception staff were very accommodating and couldn’t apologise enough. They moved us in to a much nicer more modern double room with a view of the golf course. We were much happpier there and it was more what I expected.

We have both said that we would return.

I was genuinely surprised when I arrived as the place is beautiful and far exceeded expectations. Other than the plug not working in the bath, everything was fantastic. Lovely old-fashioned unique hotel. Lots of choice for food, and the spa is fab - £12 access per room is great, and the facilities were clean and updated. The gym/health club was a huge plus and made the stay even better. I would say the Bistro could do with some redecorating - the food was good and very reasonable, but the ambience/decor was a little plain for a dinner location! Aside from that, the rooms were clean, spacious and comfy, and the staff were all really friendly. Such a nice location for a weekend country getaway

Good overall, receptionist didn't mention booking breakfast or a table for dinner in the restaurant and could only get a later time when did get booked. The menu for the restaurant hsdn't been updated for the day but the waiter and chef were very accommodating and resolved it. Leisure was amazing and very relaxing, the disappointment was the rudeness of the cafe staff member who wouldn't make food as she was own her own, no apology, just matter of fact \"what do you expect me to do, I'm on my own\" went elsewhere so they lost money!

The hotel looks beautiful from the outside and is set in a beautiful spot but the inside and rooms are very dated and in need of some work. Sadly our room also did not have a window, it was covered in paper to conceal the dilapidated state of the outside. The room was clean and the bed comfortable.

Also my telephoned dinner reservation had not been noted at reception on checking in but it didn’t in this instance cause any problem .

Rude staff, dated interiors, dirty bathrooms. We paid for our breakfast upfront and then this was also charged on our room and the receptionist was extremely argumentative with us as we did not want to pay for this again. Double charged us for our room.
The list goes on..we stayed with a large group of people for 2 nights and the staff were very rude to us throughout the whole stay. Absolutely would not plan to stay here again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone. You would get better service at a Travelodge or Premier Inn down the road.
