Onsite restaurant twice for breakfast - first time food and service were great, second time the staff appeared overwhelmed, experienced a long wait and the restaurant was not busy, with less than 1/3 tables occupied. Close to sites, great nearby restaurants. Would recommend and return.

Very cool restored hotel, rooms are quite small as an older hotel, however well maintained. Try and get an outside room overlooking the gardens as interior rooms all look at the mechanical on a lower roof.

Nice spot to stay, food was great, however had a bit of a challenge with the room. And calling down to the desk was impossible no one ever a stand our shower was plugged. Finally was fixed at the end of the third day.

The room was OK and the maintenance was also just OK. We had the message light flash on the phone the whole visit and they could not turn it off. The room was cleaned well but toilet paper for example were not replaced when empty. Same with towels. Overall good location but very average room.

This is a beautiful hotel originally built in 1927 overlooking the public gardens in the middle of downtown Halifax. We had an absolutely wonderful time and will stay again.

My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites. Though clearly an older hotel, has been extremely well maintained. Stepping into the lobby with its wood paneling and chandeliers is a bit like traveling back in time to the mid 1900's. It is conveniently located across the street from the Halifax Public Gardens and within walking distance of the Halifax Citadel. There is a surprisingly vast number of nearby restaurants to choose from. There is a parking garage attached to the building though it's a bit of a maze to figure out how to get from the parking garage to the lobby. Also be careful in the garage when opening up the back door of an SUV (especially if it swings above the height of the car). Some of the parking spots have low hanging pipes for the fire sprinkler system which I managed to bang the back door of my car against. Still, we would not hesitate to stay again in the future.

The only part to be aware of is the elevators are quite old and thus small. Be ready to wait extra few min waiting for it or the next one. We had no problem with it tho.

Great location for a Halifax visit. In particular this was excellent for participating in the Halifax marathon. In addition it was a short walk to the waterfront. Close to the Cidatel and public gardens. Room size was good and well house kept. Noise level was a little high due to wedding guests and a relatively busy street. I would note that depending on the time of day there were a lot of homeless people when walking to the waterfront. No issues at all, just noteworthy. Great hotel! Don’t ignore the restaurant, it’s quite good for breakfast!

The room was lobby was lovely, and the room was clean. We had pre-ordered champagne to the room for our evening arrival and it was not there. The front desk was dismissive when we went to ask about it and did not make it right. Overall the hotel location was on point, very accessible for walking the gardens and Citadel Hill. I would likely not stay again though as the initial arrival service was truly lacking, there are only some many getaways one gets and I’d prefer a hotel that is responsive.
