Room was alright although if I’m honest slightly dated with a TV lacking functionality and a leak with the hot water tap… the breakfast was also really poor at 8:40am it’s surprising to find all the food cold.

That being said it was a great experience due to super friendly and accommodating staff. Megan at the front desk was exceptionally helpful and all other staff we interacted with were great.

Check-in process was very quick and pleasant. Room was a very good size, clean and being winter the radiator was working rather than the air conditioning. It would have been a nice touch if the radiator valve had been opened prior to checking though as the room was a little cold when I first went into it, however a couple of hours later and it was pleasantly warm. I had a good view from the window too but could not make much use of it as I arrived late and left early on 2 of the 3 days of my stay. Breakfast was very good too, plenty of choice of hot or cold items and the tables were a good size and set well apart. One criticism is that the parking spaces in the car park are very narrow and the car park is often fairly full from visitors to functions, meaning that as a guest you do sometimes have a fair walk with your cases. Another issue is that the lighting in the room is not that good, so if you are going to be working or reading a book, it can be a little difficult on the eyes. Apart from that, an excellent stay

We had a fabulous stay here, from the friendly check-in to the end of our stay. Everything was immaculately clean and the staff very friendly. The pool was a hit with adults and kids and the breakfast was fabulous.
We look forward to returning and will definitely use Holiday Inns again.

Me and a friend stayed here to go to a gig at The Piece Hall in Halifax. The room was an absolute bargain at £89 for two including breakfast. Also the breakfast was something you just don't get with breakfasts these days in standard hotels, there was so so much choice I was in heaven the day after having a couple of beers! The place was clean and very spacious. Free parking is a bonus too nowadays!

Only reason I marked down a star is because the listing states check-in is at 2pm however when we arrived they said it was actually 3pm but they couldn't change the Expedia listing. They did give us another room that was ready though, it just took about 20 minutes to check in and was a bit awkward.

Check in very noisy due to a wedding reception taking over every area of the hotel. Long wait. Noise from wedding reception all night in room. Woken up at 12:35am with people trying to get into my room. They had the wrong room number. It turned out it was staff using the master key but they didn’t identify themselves and I found the “sorry” from reception when I checked out unacceptable. Wonder why staff member didn’t identify themselves initially. Disrupted night with a 400 mile drive. Will not stay there again. Not what I expect from Holiday Inn. In other room we had the deadbolt didn’t work either.

This is in a lovely location, and perfect for the M62. Our room was starting to look shabby now, especially the bathroom. I got locked in the bathroom due to the old lock, and all I got from the Manager was “sorry about that”. A 10 pound bar credit would have been a nice gesture! There was no ventilation in the bathroom, so apart from it been extremely hot when locked in, during showering, the walls and fittings are dripping with condensation.
The Receptionist who checked us in was very pleasant.

One note for hotel management: Staircase opposite front entrance that leads down to car park is in a poor state. Loose steps/slabbing. Trip hazard and it needs a handrail fitted.

Location and property were what we were looking for, room was nice and cleaned daily.

We had a wait to get checked in as reception was not staffed when we arrived (5pm on a Friday). Later the same day we wanted something from the bar, again no staff. I had to ask the gentleman at reception to come over to help which he promptly did.
As we were checking out there was a young lady at the desk, however she didn’t look up from the computer, didn’t enquire if we enjoyed the stay or required anything else before we left.

Last point I would make is that there is no elevator within the building. My wife has a little trouble with mobility and two flights of stairs was challenging for her. If this information was more clearly mentioned I would have requested a room on the ground floor.

However it is a nice place to stay, just a few tiny issues with minor problems.

Last minute booking. Stayed in the room with two single beds and a double sofa bed. The double sofa bed was uncomfortable but other than was a lovely clean hotel. Staff were very friendly. Pool was a little disappointing as there was a small lane sectioned off for family and larger section for solo lane swimmers.

We stayed for 2 nights in a basic room and it was a good comfortable room.
There was a sweet wrapper behind a chair for our whole stay that wasnt ours.
The bathroom door wouldnt close and the toilet/bathroom fan didnt work.
Dont rely on google maps to find it, we had to use what 3 words.
The staff team were young and excellent! 5* for them.

The toilets at Reception are disgusting, both cubicles & urinals. Urinals were either out of order or draining slowly to the point where they overflow!
Hedges in car park need cutting back as they impede on car park spaces.
Beds extremely uncomfortable with soft mattresses. It felt like sleeping on a bouncy castle.
The amenities in the room were awful, not even a pack of biscuits.
Hugely over priced at £217 per night when the facilities are awful!

The initial impression was very good and everything was clean and comfortable, but some small things were irritating. There was only poor quality instant coffee in the room and no herbal teas (would have liked peppermint and/or camomile at least). There were no signs to the pool (and regrettably I didn’t get round to asking). I ate in the bar once but was disappointed. The fish pie was stodgy - more mash than fish or sauce - and nowhere near enough vegetables. There were very few TV channels accessible - not even decent news.

I'm a bit torn with this because I paid twice as much as I usually do for hotel when visiting up North as on this particular occasion I wanted to use a pool/spa area to relax.
We arrived at 2:10pm to find the room wasn't ready (stated 2pm check in) and wasn't ready until 2:45pm.
Gym was alright, lacking a few key bits IMO but it's a hotel gym so can't grumble. Pool, hot tub etc were all great.

The room itself the shower screen was knackered to put it best, leaking water and needed seals replacing.

Lastly there's a massive pot hole at the entrance/exit which if you didn't pay attention to avoid it could have caused some damage.

Overall though it was good just hard to justify the price given the above vs a hotel half the price even if it lacked a pool/gym.

Great budget family hotel fab breakfast

Extremely soft mattresses and very limited evening meal with tiny pudding didn't take away from an excellent breakfast and absolute bargain price for a family. We would definitely stay here again and even plan our journey to stop here if we were going somewhere else early the next day which we were (Yorkshire wildlife park). Would go out for dinner though.

Arrived was told need to book leisure facilities, when we did go the pool was cold and the hot tub was not working! Then was told it was not working for more than a week.
We went to this hotel for a leisure break to relax and enjoy the facilities.
The bedroom were large but the bed was terrible it had a slope in the middle.

The rooms with the balcony are fantastic. We had to ask for an extra robe as the staff say you only get one per room which is strange to me with a pool etc.
The only disappointing thing we have found while staying in the hotel over the last two weeks, is the temperature of the hot tub and the indoor pool. Both are cold and the chemical mix in the hot tub is not correct. We are staying again next month and we are hoping they will both be warmer or we will have to find alternative accommodation.

I cannot fault anything, wish water were a bit warmer, might need new renovation in the near future, rather than that I always have an excellent experience with holiday, this might be my 100 nights overall in the uk and around Europe too. The food in the uk always is an extra mile compare to the Europe one, but the facilities are slightly better in Europe. Big thanks to the holiday in staff for making such a pleasant experience. The room was ok and we like the pool, gym and bar but we totally overlooked, when booking, that this was a dog friendly hotel. Nothing against dogs but it seemed to be overrun with them yapping in the bar, and in their rooms, etc. Nice hotel but we won't be booking again.
