Issues but would still recommend

The room that we were first given was very dusty and looked as if it had not been cleaned for a long time so we were given another room. In this room the heating did not work so we were given a stand alone heater.

The up side was that the gentleman on reception did everything he could to resolve these issues which he did to our satisfaction.

The breakfast was very nice and the service from the one lady that went round like a hurricane doing everything was first class.

Lovely staff and big rooms!

Lovely 4 night stay for a family wedding nearby.
Rooms are big but no aircon, provided with a fan but during the heatwave, wasn't powerful enough. Hotel could do with investing in decents fans.

No lift at the hotel, reception staff were great with luggage but not ideal for them or visitors.

Jodie was particularly helpful and couldn't do enough for us!

Breakfast was great, however, had a different chef on our final day and we could tell instantly as it wasn't as good.

Sta well away if they are hosting a wedding

The hotel does warn guests that it often hosts weddings on a Saturday. Beware as it is quite small for such events and the disco noise will ensure that you get no sleep until gone midnight. Taking into account guests returning to their rooms in high spirits then it may be gone 1am before things really quiten down. Hotel is OK for priice paid but unless you are wedding guests stay well clear when they are hosting such events.

Late night event

Only thing that let it down was a function in the basement, we were on 1st floor. Went on till early hours, loud music which kept us awake. Had I known i would have booked elsewhere for this visit. 6 hr drive next morning didnt help. I think hotel should inform guests when booking if an event is on that may disturb you. Have stayed here a few times and not had any problems. But this time, not good.

Good hotel, clean and functional

Stayed for one night as my daughter's were attending a concert in Halifax. Room was spacious and clean. The tiles over the bath could have done with a good scrub as the grouting was mouldy but I imagine the cleaner doesn't get enough time to do that. We were in room 25 which was over the restaurant and had vents outside the window on a flat roof. Don't stay in this room with young children as it might be tempting to climb out, which would be very easy to do. Receptionist was very friendly and professional.

Overall really clean and tidy, however did notice that the buttons on the TV remote had staining, so had a peek and there was dust on the kettle and phone. I’m not a germaphobe, but it did make me wonder how clean touch points like the light switches were.

Would also be a good idea to have a fob system to exit the building at night, I couldn’t sleep and had to disturb the night porter a couple of times and felt awful! However, I understand it would be a big change, financially.

Hopefully you take this as constructive criticism and not me being a Karen. Staff were absolutely lovely, check-out was swift and parking was abundant. If I were in the area again, I’d stay her :)

Very clean and well maintained hotel. Very competitively priced. Situated in a small industrial areas near to residential areas. If you are having breakfast, ensure you book it in advance as the price increases by half if you just turn up. Breakfast was a little sparse but food quality was good. I felt that the large sign in the restaurant warning not to take food from the dining room otherwise you would be charged was a little 'Fawlty Towers' like. However, on the whole, its not a major issue as everything else was exactly as it should be. The maintenance and cleanliness was especially impressive.

Overall, a very nice place to stay

Nice pleasant room. View was a brick wall, about 4 feet in front of the window, but I wasn't there to admire any views! As you usually find in most hotels, the shower head was poor and the head rail was badly positioned (with a lot of fluff and muck on top of it!). The room was fine though
The restaurant was nice, food lovely and staff very pleasant too.

This was my second stay at the Guide Post and, as last time, the people make the place welcoming and warm.

Perfectly placed for our needs, the rooms were comfortable although decor is a little dated now. Breakfast was always piping hot and a great way to start the day.

Beware when booking that there is a DJ that doesn’t stop until 1am. Family rooms are right above it! I didn’t realise on booking this was the case unfortunately meaning very little sleep for us and our little girl. Breakfast was lovely and staff were friendly though. On the basis of the noise it’s just not worth it and wouldn’t ever go back.

Disappointing visit home

Decided to stay as we could have a family room. However the room was noisy due to traffic and the industrial estate (we know that the hotel can’t control environmental noise but there was no mention on any literature) wouldn’t have been as bad if the hotel had fans in the rooms/air conditioning. Had to remind staff about having extra pillows having requested them. Room seemed clean h til we moved a bedside table so that it was accessible for the single bed and there was dust.
Was pleasing to see signs regarding reusing towels but then immediately under individually plastic wrapped plastic cups.
Warm Veggie option in the bar was also poor.

Nice hotel. Poor service

Stayed here before and did so again as its a nice hotel.

However this time, after checkout the service was nothing short of disgusting. I was told my invoice would be emailed. Fine. 2 days later when it hadnt arrived, the receptionist was arguing saying I had to get it from Hotel.com when I paid in the hotel. She eventually hung up and refused to answer when I called back but later emailed the invoice.

So apart from a nice stay, make sure you get your invoice if you pay local as the service is very poor

One night stop over.

Ideal location for a one night stop over visiting family.
Plenty of parking onsite or just over road.
Room was nice size with good facilities.
Breakfast very good with pmenty of hot snd cold choices and very reasonably priced.
Overall very please snd will stay again when visiting family and friends.

Very comfortable hotel near Bradford and scenery

Fast check-in. Spacious bedroom and bathroom with a bath. Quiet room overlooking allotments. Good parking. Very good choice for breakfast, from buffet and menu

Positives: Check in and check out were easy and fast. The staff were all friendly. The beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows (I sleep with 3 and I had enough). The room layout with the double bed and the two twins for the kids was excellent. There were plenty of outlets so everyone’s gadgets could be charged at the same time. Multiple light switches so we could focus where we wanted light. The bath tub was very deep and great for soaking sore muscles after a day of sightseeing.

Negatives: there was some mold along the bathroom shower glass where it meets the wall. The hand soap dispenser at the bathroom sink had a very dirty dispenser cap that was just gross and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a good long while. We stayed in August during a heatwave and the duvet was still a very thick winter one, so I had to sleep with nothing because it was too hot to be under it.

Overall I’d rate it a good place to stay. We did not use the restaurant or have the breakfast so we can’t rate the food or service that way.

Overall satisfactory, good facilities in hotel although we didn't use bar or restaurant, preferring to go out. Room as expected. Pillows on one bed had a slight odour but not bad enough to bother changing them, and internet wasn't good in our room.

A lovely comfortable stsy

We arrived early but this wasn’t a problem as the receptionist checked us in no problem room clean & comfortable good choice menu for breakfast and cooked to order which was delicious. The only criticism I would have is you need someone permanently on the main bar the receptionist was doing it all!
Guidepost holds a special place in my heart as I worked their for many happy years when it was privately owned from when it was first built .

Clean and comfortable stay

We stayed for 1 night while at an event in Halifax. We received a warm welcome with a clean and comfortable room and enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant and a full buffet breakfast the next morning. No complaints at all and as expected for the price.

Standard hotel with many events

A place to sleep, average decor, not new, not old, not stylish, a very basic place to sleep. Holds many events and Saturday night yielded drunken arguments outside my window. No place to walk to nearby, industrial estates most surrounded the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful.
