This property is not in the middle of the shopping or dining district. While it is a short walk, you will walk through an area with a lot of homeless people.

Dissappointing.

Hotel was disappointing, epecially for the price. Lobby was nice but hallways on upper floors were shabby. Room was small. Toilet seat was so boxed un by units that no one bigger than a small child could sit on it. Not the best located hotel for the historic part of the city. Would not stay again.

Very enjoyable stopover

Stayed here on our way down to the south coast. Hotel has a great central location, which made it easy to pop out in the evening, and the inside has a lovely feel to it. Very convenient parking under the building, and the kids got their breakfast free.

Adequate hotel, located on the fringes of the old town, walking distance from the Cathedral (which is the centre of it all). Neighbourhood is ok, looks better in photos than reality, but safe enough. Room is spacious, clean and adequate. Overall, a good deal for the money, but no frills.

Overnight stop. Hotel easy to find and although close to a main road, we still had a good nights sleep. The receptionist was polite and friendly, making check in quick and easy.
The room, 405, was comfortable, clean and well equipped. A handy coffee machine, hair drier and a balcony!
Underground carpark at the hotel was €10 per night.
Clermont-Ferrand is a beautiful, friendly city, highly recommend

The family rooms were excellent. 2 Separate bedrooms which included TVs inside both which allowed us parents to relax while our 2 yr old and 3 yr old slept next door.
Parking reasonable price.

The first thing I have to write about is the view. Be sure to book a room with a view because it will not disappoint. The hotel was very easy to access and the staff spoke perfect English, making the stay that much more enjoyable. In terms of cons, the hotel garage was super tight and the room was small—by American standards. By French and European standards, the room was perfect. I don’t give perfect reviews often, but this one deserves a perfect review.

The views from the breakfast room on the top floor are great. The breakfast is tasty and varied too. It's a short walk up into the city centre and there are plenty of places to eat around the hotel. The rooms are modern looking.

At check in the staff was friendly and professional. After that, the series of problems began...

They gave me the wrong room that I had paid for, needed to insist on a change for my original reservation. (they tried to give me a tiny room for the same price.)

Internet connection was horrible, unacceptable for this kind of hotel, they told me I had to have a room near the center of the hotel to get wifi.... euh thanks gang, not helpful.

No heating at all, the room was cold for my entire stay, the heating system was non functional.

The night shift, specifically the woman at the desk was not fun and unhelpful, if you don't want to work there, stay home or find another job... never experienced this, ever.

A good overnight stop at this slightly funky \"literature\" hotel. Room was quite small, but clean and well maintained, and themed in line with the hotel's style. great breakfast on the 6th floor overlooking the cathedral and Puy de Dome in the distance

It maybe just us but we did not have hardly any wifi. In order to get one bar we had to open the door to the hallway, ridiculous actually. We loved the view from our balcony, comfortable bed and decent size shower but basically no internet access in room and uncomfortable lobby( due to remodeling) made it hard to enjoy the stay. Their free breakfast was pretty good for hotel in France though. If they finish the remodeling and solve wifi problem it will be so much better although the beautiful park like are in front of the hotel was kind of scary due to the sketchy ppl hanging out.

Pleasant Stop in Claremont-Ferrand

This was a quick overnight en route from western France to Venice. The city view from my room and also from the breakfast room was spectacular. I would definitely stay here again.

Great Location!

Hotel is located in downtown, close to many shops and restaurants. Train station was only a 10 minute walk. Morning breakfast was awesome. What a view! Best in town! Food was good.. nice selection. Traditional French with a mix of some American. Staff was very helpful, from making reservations to calling cabs. I would recommend this hotel.
We stayed in the family room, which was nice. Separate room for parents, 2 kids each had there own futon. They were happy.

We had a one night stay on New Years Day. The hotel staff were efficient and friendly. The underground parking is secure and easy to access. My only criticism is the room smelled slightly of poor toilet drainage when we came in.

Astonishingly comfortable beds!

Although the volcanic theme (local geology) made the room look a little dark initially, the beds were amazing and the hotel was very quiet. The receptionist recommended a walk through the city which showed us some of its best points, which we really enjoyed.

The check in and out where easy and also the use of the underground hotel. the breakfast room is on the top floor with a great view and there is also a seating area which may be possible to use during the day. the rooms and corrider have just been decorated so its gettings a uplift which is always good. Monor point choice of tea and coffee in the room could be better.

Comfortable hotel but a bit dreary and grey!

We used this hotel as a stop-over on the way back from our touring holiday however would not recommend it for this purpose or in fact the city itself. The road networks are compliacted in the centre of town where the hotel is situated so it was not ideal to reach being tired out from a day of driving. The underground car-park is handy with the hotel being in the city and it is secure however is very tight if you have a large car making it a pain to navigate without damaging anything! The room itself was clean and comfortable but lacked any character or colour, just grey, white and rock-like textured canvases on the wall. I would say it was more suitable for business than for families. We all slept fairly well and breakfast was what you would expect from a good French hotel.

Great stopover fm south to north

Lovely renovated room w modern amenities and very comfortable. Hotel is still in progress being renovated, but when it's finished, I'm sure it will be great. Very nice to have secure parking underneath. On the edge of the old city center, so a bit of a walk to the more charming neighborhood. But gorgeous rooftop breakfast room and terrace w view of the old city and mountains.

Moving in the right direction

Not a flashy hotel. They are going through renovations and the rooms are quite nice. It was a good value for the quality and comfort of the room.

The restaurant and lobby much be some of the last parts of the renovation. If the rooms are any indication, the hotel will have a fabulous feel once refit is completed.

The internet is complimentary and decent speed.

Suggestion to hotel: find better refrigerators. They barely keep anything below room temp.

This was a perfectly clean and functional hotel. There were a few nice touches though - the large Apple iMac in the Foyer was useful for netsurfing and emails. Breakfast was good quality if simple, and the staff were very pleasant and spoke good English. I am a regular there.

Hotel is a modern, concrete slab construction, halfway up the hill between the railroad station & the cathedral: clean, quiet, all ordinary necessities (including excellent TV set!). Very kind & courteous staff.Neighborhood uphill from the hotel is a fairly distressed area: insofar as Clermont Ferrand has a lively area, it's over the hill from the hotel & past the cathedral: bit of a walk! In short, good digs in awkward location.

Great hotel with good sized rooms and fantastic shower in the room. Only slight issue was they hadn't got the message r/e a twin room - but it turned out when we took the cover off the sofa it was a proper made up single bed which worked fine! They did try to see if they could switch us to another room with twin beds but the hotel was full. Also very reasonably priced. Would stay here again.

Room 210 ... wifi in hallway only ... the ac was off, switched to heat and it was 80 something. The staff is good ... very helpful but like most european midpriced hotels they staff is subject to greedy owners. I much prefer the Oceana in Clermont.

Pleasant place to stay in Clermont

Hotel des Puys is a very good hotel and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Clermont Ferrand. It has very clean rooms and the breakfast is served in a rooftop restaurant with excellent views of the city. The underground car park is also very handy as parking in the vicinity would be difficult.

Worth mentioning that there are many very good restaurants within the Old Town just a few minutes walk from the hotel.

The location is great. Room is a good size for Europe but could have used a chair other than a desk chair. The air conditioner was not on and there was no controller even though the day time temperatures in the city went above 25C for 3 days running. Breakfast was good and the view from the 6th floor fantastic but expensive.

Overlooking a lovely park. View from the balcony was astounding. Clear view of the church and Puys de Dome. Within walking distance of excellent local quisine, shops, variety stores and the train station. Would highly recommend. Very friendly desk staff. Avoid the breakfast in a bag unless you like cookies and breakfast bars for breakfast. Too many carbs for me. However the breakfast on the terrace included a fine selection of cheeses, meats, croissants and even hot food. The view was amazing.

Great value for money, good start of any C-Ferrand city visit

Staff is very friendly, open and willing to help out on any question/issue you have.
Rates are modest for the roon you get; basically clean rooms and modest but okay bath room.
Breakfast at to floor gives great view of the city, and really makes you long for the city exploration.
Hotel is at a nice square and directly leads up to the centre of the city.
The restaurant service is good. Risotto was not fantastic, but rest quite okay.

Next time I visit Clermont I will go here again.

Pour un hôtel 4 étoiles, l'accueil et la prise en compte des desiderata personnels en terme de confort et surclassement demandés en amont sont très décevants car non pris en compte. Aucun effort fait sur place à l'arrivée pour trouver une solution, attente très longue à la réception, attente encore plus longue pour prendre un verre au bar. Impression d'être face à une équipe indifférente aux attentes de ses clients. Dans la salle de bains, le sèche-serviettes était complètement poussiéreux et visiblement quelqu'un avait oublié quelques poils dans la baignoire.Flacon de produits de toilettes quasi vides.

Lieu très agréable, amateur de livres c’est fait pour vous ! Découverte de l’auteur Alexandre Vialatte ! Le lieu est par ailleurs très agréable, meublé avec goût !
Le petit déjeuner est excellent il y en a pour tous les goûts : sucré salé variété de fruits….
Un lieu de lecture à l’accueil des livres disponibles à lire sur place ou à acheter.
