The hotel was satisfactory overall. However, the windows were broken, and some of the electrical outlets were not functioning properly. The cleanliness was acceptable, and the staff were excellent—very attentive, respectful, and protective. When we arrived, a random individual appeared to be following us, and the staff handled the situation professionally and ensured our safety in a very respectful manner.

The location was excellent, very close to the beach, which made the stay enjoyable. The room had a slightly unpleasant smell, but overall, I appreciated the experience and the hospitality provided. 😊🏨🌊

The best part of this was the location and free parking. Our room was clean, but everything in it was just sloppy. The mattresses were basically cardboard, sunk in weird places, and the one of the frames was missing a leg and a wheel, so it dipped lower than the Dow currently. The shower was accessible and large, but someone had used enough bleach to dissolve body parts to clean it. One of the lamps didn’t work at all, and the bedding was probably older than my elder Millennial self, and was as threadbare as my will to live.

It depends on what you can tolerate and what you can't.
Let's say good things first. The location is excellent. It’s right in front of Ocean Beach. You can walk, jog, ride a bike, or swim. I had a wonderful early morning stroll on the sand. The room is roomy, the beds are clean and comfortable, there are clean towels, and there is a fridge and microwave. I stayed with three teenage daughters, and we literally just checked in late, showered, slept, got up the next day, and left.
The toilet sink was cracked and painted over, and the bathtub was almost plugged, so it didn't drain fast. Inside the microwave, there was no turning dish, but it worked.
It's Motel 6, but it's pricier per night than other locations because of its location.
We slept fine, and I enjoyed the morning St or all at the beach so. I may stay again if I have the chance to visit San Francisco.

If you get rooms 117 118 or 119 be prepared to have a noisy night. The security gate doesn't latch properly so you'll hear it slam. Also a long term tenent has a dog living with them. You'll hear that yipping and scratching around

There is no better location on this side of the city and on Ocean Beach. Just a quick walk across the street and you're ON the beach and if you cross the street to the right, you're in Golden Gate Park. Honestly, besides its lack of amenities, it's a place I will continue to go back to stay.
And there are cafes within walking distance and the Zoo just down the street less than 2 miles away. You could walk there from the hotel on the beautiful Great Highway on Ocean Beach.

I stayed here for 3 nights with my family of 4. The property is definitely in need of updates. The rooms are bare bones…broken dresser, no tv remote, busted lamps, weird outlet wiring. The beds are decent but it was very hard to sleep with all of the noise. Between the cars revving engines, doors slamming at all hours, walls so thin I could hear my neighbors sleep apnea, two random guys screaming at 1 am, and animals scampering on the roof it was impossible to sleep. Stairways were filthy and ln disrepair.
The only saving grace was the wonderful maid that cleaned each morning and the location….The sunsets can’t be beat.
I won’t be staying here again.

One of our beds was missing a leg, making it unusable. When our upstairs neighbor took a shower, water dripped down our bathroom window. Almost none of the outlets worked - couldn’t use the tv or charge anything. There was a dead cockroach next to the bathtub. The toilet broke and required maintenance to come out at midnight to fix, and still leaked on the floor after. There was weird scratching noises in the walls, very loud, we have it on video too. The chair completely fell apart when our child sat on it. No screens on any windows, and when the cleaning lady was “mopping” the water literally spilled through our door from outside.

This is a great location for a decent price. Beds are comfortable and shower was clean. But the rooms do have a musty smell. You can open a window but there are no screens. No microwave or coffee in room. But overall a good motel for just a bed and shower. Will stay there again.

This motel has not been thoroughly cleaned or updated in decades. There was no overhead light in the room- only small desk lamps that would turn off randomly. There were stains on the wall, some of which had been covered off with mismatched paint. All of the furniture is beat up and damaged in some way. The bed sheets had permanent stains even if washed. There were dirty hand towels, food, and dirt under the bed.

There was a man asleep on the stairs outside the room in the morning which was quite alarming.

I did not feel comfortable or safe in this room and would advise against staying here. I will not stay here again.

We stayed here during our trip to San Francisco and I’m giving it 3 stars mainly because of the price-to-quality ratio.

The room had a bit of a strange smell, and the furniture looked like it might have survived the Wild West era 😅 The floors also seemed like they hadn’t seen water in a while.

If you’re not too picky and just need a place to sleep, it might work. But if you love clean, fresh spaces that give you a good feeling the moment you walk in, this might not be your spot.

Definitely a fan in the room will be fantastic because it gets very stuffy in the room without any type of ventilation.

It was the dirtiest motel I’ve ever slept in. There was black mold around the bedroom window in the back and it smelled something awful! One of the cleaning ladies I had asked for towels was rude to me. I hated this place. I would have switched hotels had I known it be this horrible. But it being valentines weekend I had no options. Never again would I ever stay here!!

Staff was very courteous and accommodating. My request for an upper floor was no problem and when I asked later for an extra blanket, they responded immediately. Room furniture and bathroom needs some updates, but was very clean and good bed and bedding. Overall, you cannot beat the location and view. It is literally on the beach. Small convenience store next door, and great food truck for Tacos in the parking lot at night. 400 ft from the Muni bus stop. Would book again

Rooms have become smelly and dilapidated. Floors creak and good luck sleeping if you’re not on the top floor. Staff was slow to respond to a chirping, low-battery smoke alarm. Took almost three hours to get maintenance. Family member was severally hurt when she ran into the side of a poorly put together bed frame. Cut shin so deep she ended up in the emergency room. The staff had no manager and were less than helpful when we tried to at least file an incident report at the front desk. Never again. We stay there because of proximity to ocean beach and a wonderful coffee cafe on the corner and how close to Golden Gate Park.

The hotel is on the street. Anyone can pull into any of hotel parking space. So hard to park especially on weekend. Street parking can be taken by some homeless cars. There is no place to sit outside the room, it is right on the street and noise level is high. The streets can be busy plus sea breeze can bring beach dust to cover everything. The only good thing is the price... that seems to going up too.

Bedroom was reasonable, however bathroom area was in need of a remodel. Sink worn and rusty, toilet seat wrong size and broken, shower had areas of moldy grout and water damage on the outer wall of tub. We stayed there overnight the first week, returned the next week and we were assigned the same room. Bathroom floor had not been sweep or mopped, as there was still a hair scrunchy on the floor from the previous week. Very noisy!!! People upstairs had a large dog that barked through the night. These people must be day sleepers as they made noise all night long stomping across the floor in heavy boot, knocking the chair over numerous times, moving furniture around. I really thought they were doing construction all night long. I realize this problem is hard to control as you never know what kind of people you are going to get!!! Sleepless experience!!!

good location and good price. the actual motel was perfectly average. sheets and towels were clean, but room was dusty and a/c was funky (worked, but funky). i never felt unsafe going out, and there were some really great coffee/food options within walking distance. public transport was good, too- lots of options and schedules were consistent. you can't see the beach from the property because it's behind the sand dunes, but if you want to GO to the beach it's literally across the street. i picked this motel because it was close to golden gate park (which was my primary reason for coming to san fran) and to be able to go to the beach, so it did not disappoint! staff was also very kind.

The pros: There was plenty of parking across the street from the hotel. This was my first time staying at this location, but have walked past it many times over the years while visiting Ocean Beach and walking along the (now) closed Great Highway between the hotel and the beach that is dedicated to walking and bike riding (no cars). Beach access is also convenient. Check-in was extremely easy and the staff polite. I stayed for one night. The hotel is 4-5 miles from the city center; however, I purposely chose to say near the beach knowing this. There are public transportation options within 1-2 blocks to get you to the rest of the city if you do not have a car. These was an A/C in the room (rare in SF) but not often needed near the ocean.

The cons: The room itself needs upgrading and repairs. As with any budget hotel, some sacrifices to comfort are made for the low price. And while the sheets and most towels/surfaces were clean, there were some issues that I tolerated but were not very assuring such as finding different colored long hairs on one of the clean towels, a broken light bulb in the room, blood stains on the half used toilet paper roll, a broken/missing toilet paper holder, and gnats/flies in the bathroom due to poor ventilation. The room was usable despite these items I've listed, and as a solo traveler, I made due without stirring any trouble due to the low price I paid. However, small fixes could have made the experience a little nicer.

Little care has been taken to maintain this property. It gave me the creeps. There were holes in the ceiling in the walkway outside my room. The light plug sparked when touched. The bathtub had debris in it. The chest of drawers was broken and the furniture was mismatched. I paid for 2 nights I did not use and went to a decent hotel. Other than that it was swell!

The motel is old. You can feel the springs in the bed. The room was dirty and broken down. I don't have high standards and it was bad! The motel is incredibly noisy. There was a taco truck in their parking lot outside our room so crowded we could not park. There was booming rap music all night and people yelling. No one in the motel cares about their guests or service.

Great location. The dunes are right out your window and short walk to beach. Great price. Don’t expect anything fancy. It’s a very simple room. Much older. Room was very clean though! Highway is kind of dirty looking. I did see homeless quite a bit as well. It’s a noisy area and people coming and going can be loud and our room was right by the stairwell, lots of loud echoing voices. The roof felt stuffy each time we returned it. It met our needs, just a place to sleep and shower. Gone all day every day! Great fir kids and family’s and pets too

This hotel is not fit for any traveler. There appears to be absolutely no management or care for cleanliness, safety or upkeep. The smoke detector had a plastic bag tied over it. The room was filled with gnats and flies. The windows were so filthy could not see out of them. The closet had no hangers. The water pressure in the shower was very low and the water luke warm at best. There were holes in wall. The hotel ice machine was broken and when asked about it there was no plan to ever fix it. There is no coffee machine or microwave. The small refrigerator has no frozen compartment. The manager office was closed on one morning with no way to contact anyone. We were told the hotel is set to be torn down for affordable housing which would explain the lack of any concern for guests.

TV didn’t appear to get any channels, and looked like there should have been another remote for it, but we couldn’t find one. No free coffee in the lobby like the sign at check in said there was. The floor in places was uneven like there had been some water damage. But it was clean, safe, and convenient to GG Park and the beach.
