Hotel Capitol – Simply Good

I booked a small room at Hotel Capitol for a work trip, and my stay was truly excellent. The room was quiet and peaceful, with a window that let in fresh air—perfect for unwinding after a busy day. The Wi-Fi was outstanding, thanks to their Wi-Fi 6 setup. I had no issues with connectivity, whether I was working or streaming.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout my stay. A special shout-out to the gentleman working in the breakfast area—he went above and beyond to assist guests and made mornings feel welcoming. I’d also like to commend the room service team. I had a minor issue with the trouser press, and when I called reception, someone came promptly and resolved it with great professionalism.

Breakfast was delicious, and the hotel’s location was ideal—just a short walk from my workplace. My room was cleaned daily, and everything was kept in perfect order.

Based on my experience, I’m happy to give Hotel Capitol a 5-star rating. I genuinely can’t think of a single downside.

Comfortable place to be

Not the fancy hotel but was clean, comfortable, and in a great neighborhood away from the center - but still very accessible to tourist sites. Breakfast gave you all the choices - American breakfast, German breakfast, European breakfast. The staff was very helpful and kind.

Im stunned anyone has ever rated this hotel beyond a 2 star rating.
It’s extremely run down and we spent a good chunk of money.
The room had a horrible smell to it, the tub (yes there is no shower) was so high I almost fell getting out. The tub wouldn’t drain so we had to shower in our dirty water.
Browse around, spend the extra $200, I definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here until some serious Reno’s are done.
Also elevator barely fits 2 people it’s sketchy.

This was my second stay at Hotel Capitol, and I will come back again! The staff here are WONDERFUL, and do everything they can to meet your needs. The furnishings are stately, only slightly worse for the wear. It is a lovely quiet sanctuary in the heart of Milan, with continent food and shopping available. Rooms are ‘cozy’.

The hotel was outdated, and nothing like the pictures. The bathroom was not as clean as I imagined, and the AC in our bedroom did not work. We tried to call reception but the phone also didn’t work. There are also no plug points besides the bed which is really annoying as you want to charge your phone next to you but you can’t. We asked for a smoking room and was not given one. We also heard someone trying to open our door at 6AM. We were scared and felt as though we were not safe. We kept on hearing a trolley outside our room at early hours where we knew staff would not be around so early. The breakfast was extremely limited, it had barely anything. Was very disappointed in this. The only good thing about the hotel is that it is very close to the Metro.

This is a charming property. The room was small but well appointed, clean and comfortable. The centro is a bit of a walk from this property, about 20/30 minutes, but it is a safe, interesting walk with lots of shops and restaurants along the way. The area right around the property has many shopping and dining options. I would stay here again. The front desk staff was very helpful.

Great customer service! The staff was super helpful and friendly. The suite was very large and roomy with a jacuzzi. The bed was very comfortable, and the black out drapes were great since we were in a high floor. It’s pretty much quiet, but you can hear sirens if they pass close to the hotel— but definitely did not hear any neighbors. My husband and I specifically came to Milan for the F1 Monza race and it was easy to get taxis to/from the hotel. Lulu, the concierge, was AMAZING! She recommended an amazing restaurant for my birthday and was also super friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

The subway is a 2 minute walk from the property. You are not a 10 minute walk to any major attraction. Overall, the kitchen staff was great. The lobby staff was okay. I like that the hotel had lobby staff 24 hours a day. The room is tight. It was difficult to get in and out of the shower because you have to climb over a tall bathtub

main dissapointment for me was the air con advertised when booking was turned off. Resul was a room that was too warm for a comfortable nights sleep.When i queried this response was it was October so turned off. i would not have booked this hotel if i had known this. Air con was advertised and first thing i select on preferences.
No hot water first morning, plumbing problems, this happens, ok next 3 days.
Continental breakfast was disappointing compared to other hotels. Recommend spending 10 euro elsewhere. Picture of breakfast on front desk definitely doesn't reflect current offering!
Staff were really attentive and helpful. Good location close to Red line Metro.
No complimentary water in room.

Clean, well priced but a cab ride from the action

In a mixed residential and commercial area, this small hotel offers extremely friendly service and clean, very charmingly decorated rooms at a fair price. Be prepared to take a taxi to anything worth seeing in Milan, though, as the Capitol is definitely not walkable. The reception staff, while very well meaning, are ill equipped to cater to tourists (i.e., no city map with highlights, no recommendations of where to eat or what to see). Parking on the streets nearby is available and easy, once you figure out the arcane metering system. Bathroom was back-breakingly tiny. The caponata from the restaurant was outstanding.

The hotel and its staff are excellent and it is set in a lovely area of Milan with great food, coffee and shops in the local area. The staff are always happy to help and a credit to the hotel (an example is we had to move room due to a fault and they couldn’t have been quicker or more helpful), breakfast was fabulous and the choice excellent.
Whilst the hotel is very clean one small area for improvement is that the decor in our room was a little worn, but this is a very minor point which didn’t detract from a fabulous hotel.

Great location, clean but staff was not the best

Arrived at the hotel late in the evening as we were traveling from Switzerland by car. The area is perfect and there was plenty of street parking for our rental (BTW don't use Hertz as they are a bunch of clowns who give you a jalopy). The hotel is very clean but has a 1970s vibe since it looks so antique and ancient compared to our other hotels. None the less we were upgraded to a suite only because our friend know the owner (not because the staff was kind or friendly). Room had a view of the street, was a bit noisy but it's Milan so not much can be done. Walking distance to subway, shops and restaurants is convenient.
Breakfast at this place was no better or worse then others that is included for free but for some reason they charge. Wish the staff was a bit more friendly and accommodating. Keep in mind that if you are going to the airport from this hotel it will cost 120 euro for a taxi or uber. The hour long train ride is going to be full or sold out most days. Not the best option if you want to get to airport on the cheap.

Great Option in a easily accessible area!

Hotel Capitol provided great service. The staff was very helpful, made my stay easy from check-in to check-out and had a very good handle on speaking English. The room was a bit tight but no less than what I needed for a couple of nights on a business trip. Bed was comfortable and there was no noise on the third floor. It had a treadmill and some small gym equipment which was a large plus (not the highest quality but all you will need for a quick workout). The hotel is located in a perfect location only a few minutes from the metro and plenty of restaurants, shopping and cafes very close. The breakfast was also a great feature but was included with my booking. Hotel Capitol was definitely a repeat stay for me when traveling in Milan for Business.

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience with one of the reception staff, who gave us random answers to questions we asked (e.g. we asked what's the nearest gas station and he told me there isn't any in the city, but actual there is one three minutes drive away), and we could not receive any wifi within our room, and limited to one device per room.

We didn't realize Milan's airport was about 45 km from the city. However it was easy to get to the train/metro terminal and the hotel was only a few short blocks from the hotel. It was surprising to see an old style hotel but with all the modernities people need nowadays. Nice neighborhood.

Positives: I was going to see the Last Supper so I chose this hotel because it was close to it. Turns out is was close to lots of shopping, a park, etc. I liked that a lot. The hotel had charm and expresso machine was easily accessible for coffee any time I wanted downstairs.
Negatives: 1. No wifi in the room. The password they gave us worked and I checked in at home while sitting in the lobby. Our room was some kind of dead zone and nobody that worked there cared but that is needed since my friend and I were from out of country. 2. My friend forgot her ipod in the room and they would not mail it to her! Not even at her expense! I find this ridiculous. Hotels are there to create homes away from homes for travelers. If you don't accommodate them, then how can you have a good hotel? So they just get to keep forgotten items?! How does this make any sense? Yes, we should have thoroughly checked the room before leaving but come on.. people must forget things all of the time.

I would not stay there again if I went back to Milan.

Wonderful small hotel front desk staff were excellent always very helpful.They were able to give clear directions to places whereas you will find getting the directions from locals not easy.

Decent enough stay but a little underwhelmed by the lack of some 'home comforts'. The room was tight and the jacuzzi bath described wasn't available in my particular room. The daylight came through the bathroom window but little into the room itself.

There was an ironing board but no obvious iron, whilst there was no kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee.

Also, water in bottle charged, usually expect at least a couple of bottles complimentary.
On the positives, the bed was really comfortable and the location ideal for what we wanted

I was only in for one night for business. Found the room to be a little small, but comfortable, clean, and well decorated. No English TV channels, but hey, I am in Italy. The food in the restaurant was excellent with wonderful service. Only 30 mins walk from all the sites. I enjoyed my brief stay and would go again.

Nice hotel near santa maria del grazie

We were in Milan for one night to see \"the last supper\" and stayed at Capitol Milano. The hotel was within walking distance from santa maria del grazie as well as Pagano train station.
Nice and clean. Room was a little small but they had a nice sized closet to store luggage so that helped.
Wifi worked great. Breakfast was good. Staff was very courteous and helpful.
We were visiting in first week of August so it was fairly quiet.
We were within walking distance of places we wanted to visit (city center - ~ 25 minutes). There is also a tram that runs fairly frequently for city center.

There was a problem with the booking - I booked a room with a jetted tub and when I arrived that is not what I got. An extremely rude man was shouting at me and I said Ill have to go to a meeting and when i come back I will sort this out. Luckily when I came back there was a very lovely woman at the reception :) The beds a re super confortable and the rooms are clean. The decor is very old fashioned and not very appealing. Location is not right in the centre, but Milan being quite small I could walk to all the attarctions. Breakfast was pleanty, but I eat quite healthy and there were no fresh veggies :(

Hotel in Milan convenient for conferences

A 15-minute walk away from the MiCo convention centre, partly through a park, this high quality, quiet hotel is conveniently located for conferences. The rooms are nice, but not very spacious. The generous hours for breakfast (7-11am) is a bonus.
