Safety hazards; Hard to find - We left immediately

Just awful.

The photos of the hotel on the hotels.com website do not reflect the room that we were given, nor the condition of the property. Our primary issues concerned safety hazards:
> Dark and long walkway leading to our room (it was a maze to get to, the woman escorting us said \"it is far\"). We used our phone flashlights
> Open trenches with inconsistent and uneven tiling for crossing over that we were nervous we would fall into - especially our daughter
> White iron cage that was clunky and difficult to open - we had to open this to access the door to the room
Door was difficult to unlock
> The whole unit was dim and it was difficult to see. Some lightbuls
> The living room - had sliding rug that moved when we walked on it. Once moved it exposed broken tile that we could trip on or get cut by
> More iron bars in the unit
> Our phone reception did not work within the unit - we had to find windows to get reception

Other issues
> The wifi did not work at all
> Isolated and difficult to locate- the road leading to property had one gate that was locked at all times, and we eventually learned we had to drive all the way around the neighborhood to get to a gate that was opened.
> Dirty and dingy. We felt like we were in a jail.

We left within 45 minutes (the time it took us to get enough reception to reach hotels.com and then book another property). I've asked for a refund; we didn't get what we paid for & we didn't stay. I don't recommend Aerotropolis.

A great place to stay near the airport if you're connecting to another flight the next day. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area and your desired needs. The breakfast was wonderful and was prepared with care. Thank you and will stay here again and recommend the hotel. The grounds are also fantastic and pleasant to the eyes.

We were here for an overnight after long flights on our way to Botswana. It proved to be a very easy pick up from the airport, a very comfortable room, friendly competent staff, and good food. We are going to stay again and we reccomend it.

Stayed for one night on a Saturday night. It was very noisy until around 2 o'clock in the morning – not sure if the noise was coming from others outside at the hotel or an adjoining property. Hotel would have benefited from a few more small amenities, such as more towels and a bathmat for the bathroom, and air conditioning,

The lodge is conveniently situated near the hotel in Kempton Park, within a secure and safe compound. What truly stands out are the exceptional staff members: the wonderful Zintle at reception, Sister Joyce in the kitchen, and Justice, the driver. You'll also appreciate the delicious food and the serene, beautiful environment that is just a stone's throw away from the airport. Worth the visit qnd highly recommended.

Really good and real value for money stay

We stayed on 3 seperate nights on our travel. Very convenient to the airport, first night we used the great shuttle service from and back to airport, easy trip about 10mins max. Other 2 stays we drove ourselves, felt safe doing that. A small mall and restaurants close by.
Gated with security area, premise is gated, all felt safe.
Room was clean, newly refurbished, water hot, bed and linen great, all very comfy. Cooked breakfast to order lovely.
Grounds and premises kept well. Staff are doing a great job. Thank you all, see you next time we fly.
Great value for money, wil recommend.

This 'accommodation' was truly unique in presenting as an UTTER DISGRACE to the South African Tourism Industry. Traumatic experience indeed! NOTHING was as described as per pictures or website description, NOTHING worked properly, EXTREMELY disorganised/chaotic/disorientating. Warning - Disability unfriendly! Management/owner displayed unethical, disrespectful, immoral, money-grabbing and unprofessional conduct with preferential treatment toward certain customers and a TOTAL disregard for harm inflicted apon a fellow human being. No consideration in replying to emails, offering goodwill gestures, not even a humble apology. However, KARMA comes after everyone eventually! You can't get away with screwing people over your whole life, I don't care who you are. What goes around comes around. That's how it works. Sooner or later the Universe will serve you the revenge that you deserve. SO MOTE IT BE.

A great location and facility!

The facilites were very nice. The room was clean and well put together. I believe it was Justice who was basically running the place. He was the airport shuttle driver, the chef and the facilities manager. According to their website there was a restaurant on site but thst was not the case when I arrived. Other than rhat, it was a pleasant overnight between flights.

Big room and in good condition but whith smoke odor. The wifi was OK. Basic restaurant from 6:00pm to 9:30pm. The transfer from the airport delay 25 minutes since I called. It was a small car. We was 5 and was space for 4 people.
In spite of this things is a good place to stay for one night.

It was older than the impression one gets from the photo on the net. The staff was very friendly and considerate. The Name of the Lodge conflicts with another such facility and causes confusion as to where to go to catch the shuttle. When I called the lady said got o gate ?? and I could not catch wich gate. I asked people where to go and they said gate 6 as all they heard me say was Aero Guest Lodge instead of Aerotropolis. I wound up going to the wrong place, but they were very kind and understanding. There is a need to make sure their name is clear and what gate you need to go to at the Joburg airport.
Also, I was told the breakfast was at 7:00 Am but the preparation just started then and the meal came about 7;30. I had scheduled an 8:00 AM transport for the airport but, the car was still in the garage and it wasn't clear where I should go to get in. Overall it was a very laidback attitude, that is quite friendly but not too appropriate to one who is traveling and needs promptness. I do recommend the staff and people there as very kind and accommodating but, not if you are anxious and concerned about promptness.

Waited about 1 hour for the \"free shuttle\" as the vehicle was small (max. 3 or 4 passengers and 6 waiting. Flights are low (noisy) even at night over the property, dogs barking etc.

Wonderful place for families to relax after a long flight- let the kids run in grass/swim/play. Plus, can eat on site which is also great when exhausted. Quick 7 minutes from airport.

This property was unable to extend my check out time to accompany my afternoon flight.

I was forced to shower in a dirty staff bathroom prior to my flight - after I had asked if their were facilities available.

The airport shuttle driver spent 2/3 of the drive telling me about his recent car crashes.

Front desk staff very halpful. Better menu then sister prooerty. Close to grocery store but not much around. Probably not a good area to walk at night. Room was nice but only a curtin seperated the bathroom from the bedroom. Would stay there again.

The staff is very helpful.Close to the airport,they have free schedule to the airport whenever you need. Good hot breakfast cooked to order. Safe area, not much around,easy parking, quiet.Only improvement that could be made is, we were there in winter and I could have used more heat in the bathroom

My stay at the Aerotropolis Guest Lodge was excellent. The staff was very helpful; my room was immaculate and comfortable; the breakfast was delicious; and all of the logistical details of my stay were handled efficiently, including my transportation to and from the airport, which is conveniently close to the hotel.

We really liked it. It had a very homey feel. Only the food in the restaurant could be a bit beter and the wine glasses were not cleaned properly. Great location ifneed to get to the airport quickly. The free shuttle was appreciated
