I picked the Surfing Turtle based upon positive reviews but I definitely didn’t have a good experience. I guess someone has to draw the short straw. That was me - my room faced the very BUSY and LOUD road that was about 4 feet from the door. The loud music from nearby clubs went on late into the night. I have stayed in busy and noisy hotels all over and have never had to resort to the earplugs that were left in the nightstand. The Google Map link sent to me wouldn’t work which created confusion about directions. I ended up 20 minutes away from the Inn and then had to backtrack. It was so poorly marked that the person who I called for help referenced a nearby coffee shop in order for me to find it. No ice either. Definitely would not recommend.

After a long trip, staying here was a breath of fresh air. This hostel is the gold standard for hospitality. The check-in process was seamless and professional, and the entire place was spotlessly clean.

What really sets them apart is the attention to detail. They provide everything you could possibly need: beach towels, chairs, an umbrella, and even great coffee with sugar choices for you to brew. The bathroom was stocked with toiletries, and the location was perfect. You can tell the owners truly care about the guest experience. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Would definitely be coming back.

We stayed here for 8 nights during our visit to Luquillo. We loved the location as it’s a short walk to the beach. Wonderful coffee shop across the street. Great restaurants within walking distance. Prompt response for any requests made. It does get a little loud at night, however, provided ear plugs did the trick. Also, bed was very comfortable. We hope to return. Thank you for a memorable vacation.

Check information was received in a timely manner. There were lots of beach amenities (towels, loungers, umbrella) provided in the room. Nice coffee setup for the mornings. The property communicated with us promptly during a power outage but it was only one grid so we walked to La Pared and grabbed a bite at Boardriders. It was nice they provided wait plugs bc I image it wouldn’t been very noisy during the night if the power hadn’t shutdown. I felt safe in the area and the people we met were pleasant and friendly. 100% would stay here again!

Excellent location, great room. We had a great time in Luquillo! The staff were communicative and quick to respond to any issues (body wash dispenser was empty and one of the beach chairs was broken, both were handled quickly). Not very noisy at night except for the occasional car blasting reggaeton music and the hotel provided ear plugs. The call of the coqui frogs was a great way to fall asleep!

Room was just OK. Neighborhood not so much. House next door is ruins. Steps away is liquor store with drunk people around (nothing happened to us). Could use a better mattress. After 2 nights my back is killing me. Would not recommend.

The room was very nice and close to the center of loquillo where a lovely square surrounded by restaurants is found. Only a block from the beach. My only complaint is the excess noise nearby. One night giant speakers in the back of a car trunk blasted music from the corner on the square until almost midnight. There is a reason that there are packages of earplugs on the nightstand. Use them! Every night you hear the Coqui (a native frog) make its distinctive noise most of the night and awaken to that in the morning. Again the earplugs. A fantastic dinner spot within walking was Sama. Highly recommend. Also note that no parking is included with this rental. The night of a festival on the square proved difficult to obtain parking without driving around searching. Two good breakfast places nearby. La Fonda in the square was decent but overpriced IMO but you need reservations at both evening restaurants I mentioned. Overall a great trip. Highly recommend the bioluminescent tour in Fajardo.

The rooms were extremely noisy. Very loud music from two bars up the street flows through the single paned jalousie windows till 2 am. Also, a steady stream of very loud motorcycles and cars cruise past till a bit later. Right on the main drag.

Staff was quick to respond and very helpful through text. Very clean room, note there are ear plugs to use for sleep. With that said understand you are staying in a local community. They party all night, and you will hear it. We didn't mind. Room had beach chairs and towels for use which was a great extra!

The room was big, clean, had 2 beach chairs, towels, umbrella fridge, microwave, coffee maker, ear plugs because the street is loud (bars and cars), cute rooftop deck with ocean view, seating, listen to frogs, 🐸 my only complaint is the bed is NOT a king, but 2 twins pushed together & I got stuck in center-pillow top mattress was not comfortable.

We had a wonderful stay! The interior was beautiful and very welcoming, and the room had all the essential amenities, all very clean and well maintained. The front patio with a beach view created such happy, relaxing vibes, and the service throughout our stay was excellent. The two days we spent here left an everlasting impression. We especially appreciated the cute kitchen and utensils, TV/internet, and the beach chairs—such thoughtful touches. Would absolutely love to stay here again.

Room was decent but the sound was terrible.it felt like you are sleeping on the road. We stayed in room 2. Its facing the road. You hear ever car and every bike going on the road. And some one started playing loud music at 10.30 PM and continued most of the night. I am a sound sleeper usually can sleep any where but couldnt sleep here even for a minute.

Beautiful apartment with fun decor and great outdoor space. Very clean with small kitchenette. Only downside is ambient noise from nearby pub that played loud music past 11pm, and cars blasting music as they drove by. Nothing the owner can fix, but fyi.

The property is in a great condition and in a good place! Walking distance to food options. La Plaza is right there! The host replied fast and sent us important information, even though there is not a front desk.
Although the property has no parking, it was easy to park on the street.
Note: loud music and loud cars pass midnight was a minor detail we didn’t like. Our room was right on the street.

The hotel is wonderful. Every morning I was able to come outside and watch the sunrise while enjoying my morning coffee. The hotel is super clean and the staff were very pleasant whenever we interacted with them. The manager reached out also ensuring we were having a great stay. Me and my kids were able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner and were mesmerized by the beach view. We would definitely come back on our next trip.

Room 7 was just perfect for our quick getaway to Puerto Rico. Conveniently located close to the activities we wanted to do, El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, Ferry Boat to Vieques and Culebra, and many golf courses. The room was modern and comfortable, and staff was easy to contact and accommodating. Check in and check out was as easy as can be. Would definitely stay again.

My sister and I had a great stay at The Surfing Turtle Inn. The property was clean, the room was clean, decorated beautifully, and had everything we needed for comfortable stay. Expresso machine, refrigerator, bottle opener, glassware, beach chairs, towels, cotton swabs, stops. The beds were comfortable and the AC was just right! We loved the location! Quaint, busy coffee shop across the street, Coffee Therapy, from the Inn, a spirit store, burger joint and other delicious food options within a block distance. Minutes away from a local strip of restaurants, bars and a beach full of action. We are already looking forward to a future stay!

This property was perfect for exploring the area and quick walk to the beach and incredible dining options just across the street. The staff responded quickly and when our rooms AC unit had issues they were immediate in response and moved us to another available room! It is a town with friendly people and on the weekends has a bustling night life so may not be great for families with kids but my husband I loved every minute ❤️

The host went above and beyond their means to accommodate us. There was a problem with the room that we booked, but then were shifted to a bigger room. The host was very responsive and provided us with information when we needed. Kids enjoyed sleeping in the bunk beds. Parking were available nearby and the beautiful beach was just a few minutes of walk. There were plenty of restaurants in the area and great breakfast place just infront of the hotel. Great work, keep it up.

This is an excellent home base from which to enjoy the east side of the island. The rooms are excellent and a great coffee shop literally steps from the front door. Very close to the town square. Do be prepared for road noise and lively folks outside but the owners are aware and provided earplugs - although I did not need them. If you like being in the heart of the action and have a super cute place to stay... this is it! The parking is roadside but we were able to get a spot right outside our door every day... not an issue at all.

I stayed in Puerto Rico by myself and this property was absolutely convenient and close by took everything I needed for my very short stay I recommend the surfing turtle to anyone who wants to feel like a local! The police station is right around the corner not that you need it. Food was accessible right across the street with a great breakfast and dinner. I highly recommend the surf surfing turtle!

This hotel is a real gem. We needed a place to stay in Luquillo before getting the ferry a day later to Vieques. The hotel was clean, perfectly situated to enjoy Luquillo restaurants and bars, and the owner responded to questions very quickly. Really could not have been happier with The Surfing Turtle!

The room and patio were great! 5 minute walk to the beach. There is no front desk, but the service through text messaging was great, with good directions to get to the hotel, where to park, and how to access your room. The only down side was the noise from outside, with loud music from the bar on the corner, and jerks drag racing down the street into the wee hours of the morning, music blaring. Also a couple of yappy dogs nearby bark all night long. But aside from the noise, it was a lovely stay!

The owner was very easily contacted with any questions or concerns. We did find it a bit loud outside on Sunday night but all was quiet by 11:30pm. Nothing a pair of ear plugs won’t fix. Pull out couch was very comfortable and spacious for our 13 year old and the bed was comfortable as well

The facility is nice and the rooms are well appointed but the road noise and traffic at night is a problem. The restaurants near by are great but I would not return because of the noise. They need speed bumps on the road in front of the hotel or something.

Quaint Inn nestled within a friendly neighborhood. You can see the beach, which is within walking distance of the Inn, from the balcony. Cute coffee shop right across the street. Easy self check-in and out. Room was spacious and modern. The bed is listed as a king but is two twins pushed together with a mattress connector. The mattresses are comfortable but the dip that's created if the mattress connector isn't secured correctly is very uncomfortable. Overall I really like the Inn and would booked with them again.

Fantastic stay

The location was only a block from the beach and near all sorts of good restaurants. The only drawback was the road noise, which we were aware of going in. If you can, get a unit in the back (5,6,7) where the noise might not be as bad, but some of the cars had such loud subs that I think you could probably hear them loud and clear all the way to the beach! The room itself was spacious, the bed was comfy, the shower nice and hot, and all the amenities were there, including coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Parking was within a block of the inn. Check in was easy and they were very communicative.

Not really a hotel, but more like an Air BNB with self check in and no reception area. Nice clean and modern room with everything we needed, including coffee and waters complimentary. We stayed here for 3 nights to visit El Yunque and surrounding beaches. The top floors 6 and 7 have the nice view of the ocean, and the roof deck outside. Great location for these day trips. This area of Luquillo also has some good restaurants and a nice cafe across the street for breakfast. Easy street parking.

I didn’t see one cop the entire time I was there. That should tell you how safe Loquillo is. On the weekends it’s loud all weekend. There was someone over the loud speaker till about 6am but I slept through it for the most part. It’s very walkable and have a few great restaurants in the area. The room was so clean. I went solo and never felt like I was in danger. The beach is right around the corner. There is good coffee and breakfast across the street and a liquor store/bar pretty much across the street. Loved it.

overall the experience was excelente with the exception to not having parking, it was all in great condition, the room was more spacius than it seemed and some beach supplies were given to use in the beach nearby, one bathroom was slightly dirty but the other was extremely clean, the beds were all in the same room making it perfect for friends or family to enjoy time together with some curtains in each bed to add some privacy to each one. definitely would return for future visits.
