Room was very clean and confy, basic but functional. Close to mall snd bus so for business etc very well suited. Staff very helpfull and courteous. Confortable bed and desk for working. Basic breakfast no thrills but good enough. Would go again :) very good internet speed so for business it was perfect.

The room was huge and gave us plenty of room to spread out. It was difficult for us to navigate with big luggage with the many stairs up to the 4th floor as there are no elevators. The room was still being cleaned when we arrived, but was done fairly quickly. Hotel is old and it shows. The room was sufficient for our one night stay and if you are looking for a no-frills, fairly basic location, this is one to consider. The room was clean and we opted not to take showers due to the big tub and trying to access it.

Got to our hotel... and they did the old you can’t stay here tonight but we will send you to another hotel and pay for the taxis. No you stand your ground I had booked and paid for my room in January for September 2019 they were happy to take my money... I did get a room, they were not happy. Also no lift in the building, if you are slightly disabled you would be hooped!!! Great location though!!!

On Expedia sight we thought we just needed to request parking as it wasn’t included in the price but was available at the hotel. We therefore wrote the request on the Expedia site as we made the booking.
However the hotel was not made aware of this and we had to find alternative parking when we got there. Not happy. Can’t blame the hotel for this.

I arrived at the hotel at 1am after a long train journey from Munich. When i arrived the main front door was locked and reception was dark. There were no numbers to call and the telephone number I had in my confirmation wasn't being answered.
After a few minutes I did find a side door where there was a telephone number through to another sister hotel where they had my details and gave me a code to get into the hotel using the side door.
Following this the stay was fine. The room was very basic but comfortable enough for a good sleep after the long journey.
The breakfast the next morning, although again basic, was nice and set me up for the day.
I would just like to see them put information about late arrivals and the telephone number to call near to the main front door as well to avoid any confusion for other people.

We stayed at Basic Hotel Sophienhof for 3 nights for a business trip. The hotel was easy to find and the staffs were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was much better than what we expected. However, our hotel room was okay. The carpet and shower were very dirty. The shower door was cracked so water was everywhere when showering. The bed was comfortable but wobbled a lot. There is absolutely NO sound proof at all in our room -- we can hear the cars (room right by street), people walking in the hallway, neighbors taking showers, etc. Remember to bring a pair of ear bugs if you plan to stay here. Considering the price for our hotel room, I am not sure if I would consider staying here again.

Die Unterkunft liegt sehr zentral vom Hauptbahnhof, gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Nur zum Schlafen ohne jegliche Anprüche bedingt empfehlbar. Das Zimmer ist funktional, ohne Schick, dafür mit Staub. Die Gemeinschaftstoilette hat den Charme der 70iger Jahre - seit dem wurde wohl nie etwas daran gemacht, auch hier lag der Staub schon seit längerer Zeit. Um diese zu benutzen, muss man schon etwas härter im Nehmen sein.

I order a room at 20.30 by hotel.com. 10 minuttes later the hotel call me to inform me that there's no personel after 22.00 (It's the beginning of KielerWoche, it was a reasonably senario).
I got the best off wellcoming af 21.15 and a nice calm room.

Das Hotel liegt oder grenzt an den Stadtteil Kiel-Gaarden. Dieser Stadtteil gehört zu den problematischen Stadtteilen Kiels. Das zeigt sich im Erhaltungszustand bzw. dem äußerem Erscheinungsbild der umliegenden Häuser. Das Hotel selbst ist auch schon ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen und hat eher den Charme einer „Absteige“, als den eines gutgeführten Hotels. Die Zugänge zu einigen Zimmern sind durch mehrere Türen und Treppen bzw. Stufen etwas unbequem.
Die Einrichtung des Bades in dem von mir genutzten Zimmer sind teilweise defekt oder nicht mehr vollständig gewesen.
Einzig das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Ich würde nicht mehr übernachten wollen.

parken kostet extra und es gibt kein Fahrstuhl für schweres Gepäck. Auch hört man die Nachbarn und Gehgeräusche im Treppenhaus. An die neuen Preise für diese Art Mittelklassehotels muss ich mich noch gewöhnen, da sich mein Stundenlohn auch noch nicht so richtig angepasst hat. Insgeheim hatte ich in diesem Hotel einen guten Aufenthalt.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt in unserem geräumigen Zimmer. Die Ausstattung ist modern und gemütlich. Einzig die Duschkabine kann etwas Zuwendung gebrauchen. Das Personal ist sehr höflich und hat sich Zeit für Fragen genommen. Wir empfehlen diese Unterkunft gerne weiter und kommen sicher wieder.

Väl framme vid hotellet visade det sig vara stängt! På dörren satt ett skriftligt meddelande att vi skulle istället ta oss till ett annat hotell, då detta var stängt pga ingen personal. Inget meddelande på mejl om detta! Vi tog oss till det andra hotellet som låg en ganska bra bit ifrån, och på plats fick vi besked om att här serverades ingen frukost, vilket vi betalt för. Det nya hotellet kunde inte betala ut pengar för utebliven frukost utan man uppmanase oss att skriva och begära detta från vårt ursprungliga hotell. Istället fick vi en papperslapp med näraliggande caféer där vi kunde köpa frukost. Dock visade det sig sedan att dessa var stängda då påföljande morgon var en söndag...Vi sov gott på det nya hotellet, men situationen och bristen på info kändes inte ok.

Alles in allem eine wirklich schöne Unterkunft. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig, mit leckerem Kaffee, Brötchen, Wurst, Käse und Marmeladen. Das WLAN war leider nicht das beste. Das Zimmer war ordentlich, jedoch etwas kalt durch die Größe. Ein Schrank oder etwas ähnliches hat gefehlt, grade bei längerem Aufenthalt etwas unpraktisch. Mehr als ein Kissen pro Person wäre auch schön gewesen. Mein Kissen war sowas von groß und hart, dass ich die Nacht nur damit beschäftigt war eine richtige Position zu finden, da kein weiteres Kissen da war, leider auch keine Möglichkeit auf ein kleines Kissen auszuweichen. Unausgeschlafen wie ich leider dadurch bin, ist das aber meckern auf hohem Niveau. Alles in allem ein süßes Hotel, mit sehr nettem Personal.

Wir haben das Hotel für eine Übernachtung vor Beginn einer Kreuzfahrt genutzt. Für diesen Zweck optimal - Gute 5 Minuten zu Fuß vom Bahnhof entfernt und sogar in 40 Minuten (mit Koffer) zum Kreuzfahrterminal möglich. Nette Einrichtung - freundlicher Empfang. Allerdings kein Aufzug!
