No air conditioning inside the room! Stayed for 3 nights at the worst time when there was a heat wave warning with temperatures up to 40C. Talked to the reception who said air conditioning was not working and still under repair. Did not know how long it would take to fix it and only offered a fan in our room. There was no prior notification of the issue, no apologies whatsoever. Hardly any sleep because of the heat. My worst experience ever. Never stay here again!

When we arrived, we were informed that the central air conditioning system wasn’t working, which was concerning given it was a very hot day and the overnight temperature was expected to drop to 4°C. I was told they had been unable to reach me using the contact details provided, although there had been earlier communication about a room request so that didn’t make any sense. The room was too hot to stay in the day of our arrival so we spent most of it at a local shopping centre which wasn’t ideal. They had provided small heaters which came in handy overnight.

The hotel itself is actually much nicer than it appeared online, and the only reason for my lower rating is the noise. The walls are paper thin, so we didn’t sleep well. As it’s a pet-friendly hotel, there were dogs barking, and we were woken early by the sound of kitchen cupboards snapping shut in neighbouring rooms. You can also hear every conversation in the hallway, and the doors close loudly, so you’re aware every time someone leaves their room.

There was a strong cleaning smell when entering our room, unsure if the carpets had just been cleaned however we adjusted to it after a while. There was also a clump of hair in the shower drain which indicated the shower hadn’t been cleaned since the last guests departed.

Beds are singles pushed together and extremely soft. All of us had sore backs the following day because of this.

Location is out of town so quiet area with lots of parking and short drive to the city.

I used to stay here often. I like the easy parking, late checkin with box code after long day on road and modern size of room off Monaro Hwy. This trip was really disappointing. Check in after hours although clean bed and bathroom room stunk of dog, fleas on kitchenette bench, cockroaches greeted me on floor. I sneezed all night with windows wide open. It takes a lot for me to write such a review, but when i addressed with reception I got a weak apology and an offer of a small discount next time… but I don’t think there will be a next time Abode I’ll stay elsewhere!

I have been to this property several times and never had an issue. The rooms are clean, have all the amenities which you would need for an overnight stay or even a week stay. They have clothes washing and drying facilities in the room along with a mini fridge and cooking facilities.
It’s also great if travelling with kids, depending on what suite you choose there is a seperate room for them in the suite. The other good thing is that it’s a pet friendly, so if travelling with pets this is the place to stay.

It’s in walking distance of a nice German restaurant, which we love to dine at. You do have to drive back into the heart of the city, but it’s not far at all.

Plenty of parking and has always been safe and quiet.

Staff are amazing and so helpful, which is always a bonus.

Autumn in Canberra

Abode was a lovely place to stay and my friend and I were very comfortable in a family room. The Hotel was quiet and in a good location for our visit. Staff were polite and there were plenty of supplies - tea/coffee etc - for our stay and a full kitchen. Excellent stay.

Hidden gem on the edge of CBR's inner South

First time I've stayed here. Used to live in the area - Great location for arrival and departure in CBR by Car. Right off Hindmarsh Drive which connects directly to the Monaro Hwy/Federal Hwy making for an easy arrival and departure. Kitchen fit out was sufficient to make quick on the go type meals when not dining out at a restaurant. Definitely enough to head some pot noodles, make cereal, toast for brekky. Manuka shops are located a short drive away. Bus service to the city is a short walk away of about 2 blocks if you need it, but check the timetable as services can be infrequent, particularly on weekends and public holidays. I usually stay in an older complex in the Forrest/Manuka area. Abode apartments are much newer and very comfortable. Price is great comparing to similar options in the local area such as Forrest, Curtin, Kingston. Oh - almost forgot to mention - the free parking in the MASSIVE open air car park is a winner. Overall will definitely consider repeat visit. It's on my shortlist now for consideration next time I wish to have a weekend getaway from Sydney.

This was a great place to stay in a really good central location, with plenty of things to do within a fairly short drive. Reception staff were absolutely lovely. The room looks relatively nice but there were just a lot of small things that made it really outdated. Things such as no smart TV, a really crappy showerhead, not very comfortable beds etc 😅 that being said, I would absolutely stay again and if they updated a few things it would elevate people's stays SO much. Not very exciting for families to stay but if you want somewhere clean and fairly central then it's a great place to stay 🙂

Out of town so less bussle but you must have a car. I do not like animals of other clients in the hotel, down corridors and and sleeping in the rooms i occupy after them. A policy that defferentiates Im sure, but Im over this company.
Rooms a good size, NO COFFEE MACHINE (poor way to cut costs) but above all, the bed is way to soft as the foam collapses to the middle.Cheap bed mattress and base. Worse bed i have had in years.
Ive stayed here at least 6 times over 7 years. Its gone down hill in my opinion and dogs in rooms i rent is the last straw
Canberra has better for the same price.

Return travellers to Abode Narrabundah. Very disappointed with disgusting mould and scum build up around the shower frame which meant we skipped showers. Carpet in the living area was dirty. General dirtiness over the whole room. First experience was fine - will not book here again after this experience.

Possibly the best accommodation I've had in Canberra. The nice lobby was a good indication of the what we could expect for the room. Booked a family room for Floriade and we got 2 cool welcome gifts. I'd definitely stay here next time I'm in Canberra.

Right next to a driving range and pitch and putt which is why I chose to stay. Abundance of parking. Spacious room, clean, comfortable with all the amenities you need. Very friendly helpful staff. Only issue I had was the toilet flush would get stuck and stay on for a while and couldn’t connect my phone to the tv which I have been able to at other abodes

I have stayed here multiple times here and have always enjoyed it. This time though the toilet water, and all tap water was brown, so I wasn’t able to drink it so had to buy bottle water, didn’t bother me too much but was a slight inconvenience. Other than that, the room is very clean and bed was very comfortable. Reception staff always friendly. Will stay again.

We were called the day before our stay to ask for room set up, i.e. twin beds and not king, however, this was not made up. The wall not being a full wall in between the bedroom and other areas is also not advertised or ideal when travelling with kids.

I want my money back. Once pristine Abobe Narrabundah is now in a bad state of repairs. The curtains were falling apart. I felt I was staying in Harlaam, New York. Reception staff had very basic English.

We had to stay a night in Canberra and found Abode to be a lovely place to stay. Inside the room we found a stovetop with cooking utensils so were able to cook a meal without having to dine out. The staff were polite and professional to deal with. The room was clean and tidy and housed all necessary items required for a stay. There is plenty of free parking however it is shared with the health facility next door and is open to the public, so we would recommend to ensure you remove any valuables and lock up your vehicle however we found it to be fairly safe and secure. Some of the rooms look out on to the adjoining golf course so you can watch others getting in their daily steps from your window.

We did find that house keeping came 15 mins before checkout time but when they realised we were still finalising our bags and ensuring we had everything they left to return after we had checked out. This was the only fault we found with our stay at Abode.

We would recommend the property for anyone looking to stay in Canberra. The property was clean, tidy, well maintained, the staff were professional and polite.

Very easy simple stay for families. Very happy that a washer and dryer was available in the room. Water pressure in shower was great. Location was out of town but very easy to drive everywhere near by, this also meant it was quieter. Only complaint was the hallway noise, other room doors closing and people talking.

Althought the property is modern and well appointed, it is disappointing that all rooms are designated pet rooms, rather than specific area. As a person who doesn't live with their dog inside, the smell and noise in rooms an corridors was noticeable. Despite the rules there was evidence of recent animal stains in the corridor carpets.
