Great experience @ Ubumwe Grande Hotel.

I had a wonderful time during my 4- night stay at Ubumwe Grand Hotel.

Lovely service, comfortable rooms and very pleasant staff.

Manzi ( Roof top Restaurant staff) was exceptional.

Also the hotel has an amazing roof top view of Kigali both during the day and at night.

I would highly recommend Ubumwe Grande Hotel in Kigali to anyone visiting Kigali.

Kigali is indeed a lovely, clean city.

I plan to stay at Ubumwe Grande Hotel when next I visit Kigali, Rwanda.

My stay was very comfortable, and the rooftop restaurant is wonderful. Nice to have a small fitness center, too. The outlets in my room tripped twice, but maintenance was quick to reset them. A minor inconvenience. Universal outlets are convenient.

Nice view - but bad service and bad upkeep of room

I landed at 1:00 am, and they did not send by airport pick-up. After waiting for 30 minutes and calling them, they made arrangements to bring me to the hotel. This was despite sending them several emails and making an international call, and finally getting an email confirmation. Other than that night's front desk guy, all other front desk staff were unfriendly and unhelpful.. When you shower the water floods the bathroom.

Great location. AC not adequate in room although lobby was OK. Food average, VIP benefit was free airport shuttle on request. Apparently 'on request' doesn't mean ask reception to book you a free shuttle, you have to request via email. I booked this place largely because of the roof terrace - it's a large, enclosed, uninviting airport hangar of a space & very disappointing. Wouldn't recommend this place, there are many better options.

I liked the way they welcome guests.
The building/ rooms are good and clean.
But I was shocked when blocked my wife telling her to pay $25.00 shuttle fees. Taking her bags was retained of Transportation provided. This was bad experience ever. Why they don't list that to be the one of the service they charge so guest sees during booking process? I don't think I can recomend any one to use due to the poor customer care I experienced.

Very nice hotel once you enter lobby. Had to park down in a dark dirty basement with bad smell and rubbish everywhere. Then had difficulty trying to find elevator to get up to lobby from parking. I recommend having a driver drop you off. They would not let us park in VIP parking which is much more pleasant and accessible to lobby.

None of the pictures in The Hotels.com websites are current. The rooftop bar is non existing the way it shows on the picture. The room was very nice and comfortable. The swimming pool looked like its been ignored for a while. I get that c of the Pandemic, but in no way is this hotel a 4*. The staff is nice but extremely slow. The food is not cheap when it tasted like something thy cooked up in a microwave. I wouldn't stay there again.

The only complaint I would have is that I was trying to work with them to get in contact with the airport about lost bags, and that didn’t quite happen. At every point of contact with staff outside my hotel room, I was asked if I was a \"guest\" and then asked for my room number. I don't know if they are trained to ask this question, but it made me feel judged and uncomfortable.

Why would I be here if I am not a guest?

Also, the food tasted strange. In fact, the hamburger didn't even taste like real beef.

The main attraction of rooftop pool and restaurant were closed. No warning was given. Very disappointing. Not worth the price given the lack of amenities. Menu was too restrictive and based on religious dogma.

Security issue

This a good, clean, well located hotel with great views from the top floor. However, arrival was a little upseting because they have a metal detector machine that was not working at the front door. While I understand the need for security and even applaud the zeal of employees, it is excessive to ask guests who are checking in to OPEN THEIR BAGS and go through a FULL PET DOWN before entering the premises. This is not TSA, there were no eminent threat alarms in Rwanda at the time. Plus, they say breakfast starts at 7am (we had an early flight), but it indeed takes them almost half an hour to finish set up after that time. We left hungry.

I would stay again.

Beautiful room. I always prefer hardwood floors to carpet in a hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Not the most comfortable bed or pillows I've experienced, but I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed in Ubumwe Grand Hotel for a few days in the week of July 9. The reception, the rooms, the bathroom and every corner of the room was impeccably clean.
I feel like the breakfast could be better but all the rest was up to my expectations. I enjoyed staying there and I hope will too.
