One of the best hotels my chap and I have stayed in for a long time. It wasn't 'tired', the staff were helpful, the breakfast was excellent and the room clean. If we had to fault it, being very picky, the bathroom was a bit cramped and the towels weren't changed when we asked.
The superb spa treatment that was a last minute booking, was a bonus. We highly recommend this hotel and we will be staying again.

Room was lovely an so was the spa! Didn’t like that I had to walk through the restaurant from the spa in a towel to get a drink! Then was handed a prosecco in a paper tea cup! That was the only downfall! Everything else was perfect ! The two young ladies behind the desk in reception were fabulous and very polite!

Hidden costs. Inadequate spa facilities for the number of clientele. Billed incorrectly. Food menus pricey and the food was uninspiring and very average.
Danger of scalding as regulator on hot tap was locked onto full heat- had to call out staff to rectify problem.
The staff were fine, but it seemed they lacked direction at times.
False alarm from fire alarm just as dropping to sleep.
Definitely did not come up to expectations.

Could not complain about a single thing, very friendly helpful staff, lovely clean hotel and great facilities, we were here for our anniversary and we booked a Supreme room, much to our surprise we had been upgraded to a suite, a card was also left in our room wishing us a Happy Anniversary with a coupon for 2 free drinks, such a lovely thoughtful gesture, beds were really comfortable and the food was also very good, the breakfast was amazing, we had a three course meal and all 3 courses were lovely, only a slight criticism was that the starter (Smoked Salmon) was very small so probably wouldnt order a starter next time but apart from this everything was perfect and we were very impressed.

Room - clean - a little odd layout (due to age of building) - like sloping ceiling - high window - but fine for a short stay.
Breakfast - excellent and constantly being refreshed
Great value for money - especially if pre-booked
Spa - nice / clean -wasn’t busy when I used.
Gym- limited equipment- but had sole use when I visited - so great, but may need to wait for equipment at busy times.

The hotel was quiet and the facilities good. Excellent food in the restaurant. The bed could have been a little more comfortable, although this did not impact on sleep quality.

Generally good, we stayed towards the end of summer and they may well have a deep clean or some areas of refurbishment planned but the carpets felt tired and the mattresses starting to feel a little old, but it was clean and staff were friendly. Whoever designed their bathrooms needs some training - the basin was small for a family room and the toilet roll holder at low level under the radiator was odd!! Breakfast was good with a good selection but the evening meal was poor - I had a lasagne which was 2/3rds white sauce and very little in the way of actual meat and was expensive for what it was. Good location - quiet and easy to find

This hotel is old and needs a complete refresh, the bed was so uncomfortable
It was a single bed which I didn’t think existed anymore in hotels
The curtains didn’t close properly and the window was in the car park, so could see cars passing by at night
It was noisey, doors slamming all night
The bathroom was outdated and the floor was worn away
The wallpaper was peeling off the walls
The sofa was old and grubby looking

Lovely spa/pool with outdoor patio and cafe for those sunny days.

Ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were of really good standard, very attentive staff

King size bed (superior room) was wide but not long enough, at 6ft my feet were hanging off the end! But a minor gripe for an overall relaxing stay

I thought this property worked well for my young children and myself. I had asked for an easy accessible room for my father who was unable to walk far due to being registered disabled, our rooms were at the far end of the ground floor sadly and he was unable to shower due to having a bath in the bathroom which he was unable to access.
My biggest upset was not to have butter at breakfast! Flora is an oil NOT a substitute for butter.

Lovely hotel…spoilt by noise and no air con!

Lovely hotel, staff extremely friendly. Room was nice but was incredibly hot lacked any fan or air con. Another disappointment was the noise, there was prom night happening at the hotel and it was very busy, we were situated at the front of the hotel and it was noisy. Wish they had warned us when we booked as we probably would have changed to another night because the noise was too be expected but extremely frustrating when you can’t get to sleep!

The Staff was very friendly, however the steam room was not working in the spa and jacuzzi was full of chlorine to the point that our eyes were hurting so much.
The top seat in the sauna was loose and therefore kept tipping over if sat on the edge.

Prices in the restaurant are somewhat expensive for what it was a very average meal.

Very disappointed and definitely would not return back

Comments

Not impressed about a ‘room service fee’ (which was in the hotel handbook), as well as a room service charge’, (which was not!). They both amounted to almost a quarter of the bill! Outrageous.
The fire door on the second floor, near the stairs, which has a step underneath it, is IMHO as a H&S professional, very dangerous! Better signage and perhaps hazard tape on the floor should be installed, to manage this hazard more effectively!

I was blown away by the excellent service, an amazing stay with so much attention to detail. Couldn't fault it in any way. All the staff are so helpful and friendly. Can't do enough to make your stay so special. The best hotel I've stayed at in a long time. Sometimes the bathrooms let the rooms down but not this one! The pianoist at the baby grand at dinner every night - perfect! Such a relaxing enjoyable experience. Will be back.

We stayed here for night in room 104, excellent location for the spa and all the facilities this beautiful had to offer. All Staff were great. The receptionists on our arrival were fabulous. The breakfast staff on the Sunday Morning worked really hard and were always making sure everything was topped up and fresh. Excellent 1 night stay. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was really good value for money. The room was spacious even with three of us in it, beds were comfortable and room was clean. Room could do with hooks to hang coats, rather than having to use the wardrobe.

Bank house hotel stay for business.

70th Birthday break

Well after a very stressful journey due to flooding everywhere we eventually got there,the smile and politeness of the girl on reception made us feel relaxed,she told go have some lunch and i will check you in later which we did,we were met in dining room by a lovely young man shown to table had the most wonderful Sunday Lunch,Than met Manager Salvedori who we met years ago at another venue ,had such laugh with him lovely hard working man.The Room was beautiful the staff were amazing turned up for work under appalling weather conditions due to Storm Bert,We will be going back to Hotel again if only for Sunday Lunch.Happy Christmas to each and everyone of you ,Thank you all again,Mary David Rm2

I stayed here overnight to break up my journey. Nice hotel. I had a spacious room, with good facilities. The dinner was good - a bit of a clinical dining room, but the fish and chips was excellent! The pool was small but nice, and just the right temperature, with a good lounging area. Breakfast was only average, but it was fine. I would stay again if in the area.

Friendly and helpful staff but often hard to find them. I had to search for someone to check me in on arrival. Very nice pool and this was in good condition. The hot tub/jacuzzi was a bit tired and some of the lights weren't working. The shower experience in the Spa wasn't great either, really tired, some jets very weak or not working at all. Pretty much all the carpets were very worn and stained. The facilities in my bedroom were largely all good, only downside was the fact the bed was in fact two singles/doubles pushed together with a very pronounced 'ridge' in the middle which was not comfortable. Another big downer was the fact there were no sockets or charging points anywhere near the bed. In this day and age that's not acceptable!

It was ok but expected a superior room not to be overlooking the car park and all the superior rooms on the website looked a lot bigger with sofas ours didn’t. The service was ok but I think the hotel was really busy with a mama Mia taking place so the seemed quite short of staff. We had something to eat which was lovely and breakfast in the morning was delicious. Spa was really lovely too

Great value! One night stay as a family of four on our way to Hay festival. Mattresses and duvets were very comfortable. We used the spa in the morning - pool on the small side but big enough for a quick swim and play. We paid extra for breakfast and the children remarked on the excellent sausages.

Not too bad, but not that good either.

It was ok’ish. We were given room 219 which was very small and on the top floor which meant a dormer window and sloping ceiling. On tip-toe you could see out of the window for a view of the bin yard and delivery bay (first lorry before 7am). There were always piles of housekeeping necessities in the corridors and stairwells. The meal in the Garden Room was preceded by the waitress listing all the things they didn’t have. We got the feeling that the place was rather “tired” although all the staff were friendly and enthusiastic which made it bearable. The spa was small but clean and comfortable. Anyway, treat it as a budget hotel rather than a destination and you won’t be disappointed

Friendly, professional staff, lovely room with very comfortable bed. Complimentary tea, coffee and bottles of water and biscuits were much appreciated. Hair drier, iron and ironing board were provided. Great range of hair shampoo, conditioner and shower gel as well as a soap bar. Nice quality towels and good shower pressure.

TV worked well and a fan to cool the room was provided. There is also a radiator if it gets cold. Guests have complimentary use of pool and spa. There is a golf course and restuarants on site.

Lovely 1 night stay. Simple yet comfortable room. Slightly disappointed with the spa, very over crowded, very small pool area. All other amenities such as hot tub, steam room and sauna also very small and always full so we didn’t get great use of this unfortunately. The best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had! Portion sizes were absolutely huge so could barely manage half of the meat accompaniments but food was great. Breakfast was lovely. Reception and bar staff really lovely.

Had a lovely 2 night break in an Executive room . Beds really comfortable and Temple Spa toiletries were a real luxury. Had use of the pool, hot tub , steam room and sauna and you could get a discount off spa treatments as a hotel guest. A great choice at breakfast and all the staff were really nice . Definitely want to stay here again

Leaking toilet, bed mattress needs replacing- noisey springs. noise from people in other rooms, noise from plumbing from other rooms when toilets flushed and taps turned on , poor lighting.

Service desk were friendly - but only offered an apology. No goodwill or partial refund etc.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The hotel from inside and outside was impressive. My husband played golf on the lovely course and I enjoyed the spa facilities.
Evening meal was lovely and all the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.
