Bed was crap but luckily for me I didn’t have to sleep on it. The lock broke on my colleagues door meaning he wasn’t able to get in to his room. No staff, no contact number. I slept on the floor and my colleague got the horrible bed. We probably both had a rubbish night

Strange arrangement regarding security which sole female travellers may find unsettling. Also heating was blasting out of the radiator which I tried to turn down but the control knob broke off. Many good qualities to accommodation but for the price the standard of some aspects, especially security and mattress quality, was poor. Several electrical sockets in my room didn’t work. All staff I met were friendly and polite. Milk was forgotten when my first morning breakfast hamper appeared - no staff if anything is needed. My friend’s hamper was completely forgotten so she had no breakfast!

Great staff, spacious room, very hot day and our room had a fan, brilliant. Only negative, the carpet wasn't in the best condition, however, for a busy pub with a lot of guests it wasn't a big issue.

I paid upgrade to a more expensive room so had higher expectations. The room was fine, but nothing to shout from the rooftops about. Proper coffee for breakfast would have been nice, rather than the instant. The breakfast continental box was nice though. The area was quiet, so that was also pleasing, and convenient for the Cathedral.

Great location, however if you’re in a car , it’s very difficult to find a spot and the NCP right opposite the hotel has an entrance a 7 minute drive away but a lot longer in rush hour . The hotel does not have any private parking! .

We loved the Cardinal’s Hat. Fantastic pub and a wonderful place to stay. The bedrooms have been refurbished to a very high standard, beautiful comfy bed and very clean. Fantastic breakfast. Only sorry that we couldn’t stay longer but we will definitely return.

A very nice stay. Though the rooms are above a pub, it was a quiet sleep. No on-site parking, but right across the street there is a municipal parking garage which wasn't too expensive. The Cathedral is a very short walk. The inn provided a nice continental breakfast. The pub scene was quite nice...the locals were friendly and welcomed this American.

Bed was comfortable with luxurious pillows. Fan provided which was much needed as it was a warm night. Ideal location for shops, river, cathedral, cricket, horse racing etc and the road it’s on is all half timbered buildings. If you love history and olde worlde it’s the place to stay, will definitely go back

This is a very beautiful little pub. The rooms are all unique and have their own charecters. Staff are really friendly. The continental breakfast is delivered in a picnic basket outside your room or you can have a cooked breakfast in the bar.

Somewhat weird. Great central location, comfortable bed, nice clean, tho tiny, shower and with cute personality; but the broken fan in the wardrobe made it hard to hang stuff, the wand holder in the shower was also broken, the car parking advice on their website is wrong, and its pretty strange when the only way to check out early is via the fire escape. Quite the experience.

A very friendly and helpful welcome from Ted who helped with our bags and apologised for the kitchen being closed for the evening due to staff illness but we were able to order into the bar. Our en-suite room was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for an overnight stay. We sampled the excellent local beer and the continental breakfast hamper was both charming and beautifully presented with quality produce. Beautifully situated in the old streets of worcester and convenient for eateries, cathedral and main sopping area-all within easy walkiing distance. Thank you for making our first overnight in Worcester so relaxing.

This review is so 50/50. The pub is beautiful, old and in my opinion one of the nicest places in Worcester (old town). The staff were friendly, chatty and went out of there way to help. The room was directly above the garden tent, Friday night was not the time to book if you want sleep! This appears to be Worcesters local hot spot and was loud to say the least. However the locals were there before I was so that’s my problem for the date I picked. The pub tries to be all fancy, biscuits, hot chocolate, water but sadly the state of the room let it down big time. The dirt on the carpet was nothing more than vile. The curtains all hanging of the rails and the longest dog hairs you have ever seen on the bed! (It’s also a little damp and the wallpaper is pulling away, but in fairness it’s an very old building) if house keeping stepped up it would be a beautiful place to stay. As I said, staff were lovely, breakfast was nice, but money needs spending to refresh the rooms. Would I go back?? Possibly!! Different room, midweek, but only if housekeeping clean that carpet

Lets start with the good/very good; Great location, nice historic street, friendly staff, nice comfy bed and room, loved the hamper breakfast, good facilities, big modern bath in the room is an extra nice touch.
Some traveller notes; Room - Elgar. There was a really bad waste/smell issue in the bathroom (check this has been resolved). The discounted car park ticket provided expires - check when as we went to the cathedral after check-out and so the NCP opposite was £17 for all day parking. Yes, you do use the fire escape to enter/exit during 23:00 and 10:00 ish as it’s a pub that obviously closes but that’s not an issue and straight-forward. We must have got really unlucky with the Jubilee preparations - woken up at 05:30 and stayed awake due to lorries going down the small street - bottle/waste collections but mainly a roadsweeper that went past at least EIGHT times over a 2 hour period (cleanest street in town), therefore very noisy. Real shame and must be a one-off as not mentioned in other reviews.

Room ok until I realised there was no working heating. We were told earlier after 11pm there was no point trying to resolve as there’s no one on site until 12noon the next day. I am expecting a price reduction due to the room being cold at night and in the morning.

Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our two stay at the Cardinals Hat, room was fantastic, staff really helpful. As we stayed two days we chose to have continental breakfast on the first that is left outside your room in a picnic basket which is a really nice touch. Second day we had the cooked which again was delicious and home cooked. Would we stay again....definitely.!

Check in was a shambles. No record of our booking. Staff clueless. Room tired and badly in need of a lick of paint. Radiator in room not working. Small portable electric radiator was provided but completely inadequate to heat room. On the positive side, a very good location, lovely building and the pub is very nice.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Cardinals Hat. It is located right in the centre so great for shops, restaurants and bars with easy car parking across the road at a special discounted rate. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had the free continental breakfast which was delivered to our room which was very nice with plenty of choice.
We brought our dog with us as well and it is also close to the river which was great for nice walks along the riverbank with him. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

A fantastic stay at this atmospheric gem of a public house. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back to sample the fine ales and unbelievable pie with cheesy mash once again.

Small but perfectly sized room which was nicely decorated. They called before my arrival to check I was still coming, as it had got a bit late, so I felt properly welcomed when I arrived.

Simply stunning. This is my 2nd stay here, I love it. The staff are super friendly, the rooms comfy and spacious (and quirky!) and the little Christmas touches in the room was very well received! There is no lift, a huge NCP car park opposite for which you’ll receive a discounted parking ticket for and you check in at the bar.
