The only down side I could find was the beds were too hard and very worn, and could do with replacing.
Overall a great place to stay but be aware on-site parking is 10 euros a day and the room safe is 19 euros a week ????
But if you want a good clean and well staffed hotel
Look no further.

We had a wonderful time here and can’t wait to go back! We spent 5 days here as part of our honeymoon and loved it. We spent our mornings out on tours and the hotel packed lunches for us to take with, and our afternoon by the pool sipping sangria. Can’t go wrong with that! It’s a very small resort but it made it that much better - laid back, quiet, good selection of food options for me that were gluten free, and friendly staff

Unfortunately, we had issues during our stay in this hotel. 1st day we had cockroaches in the bathroom and the bedroom. The guy in the front desk was very helpful, he transfered us to another room. Then, they said that room was booked and they moved us to another room on the next day. We moved to that other room. However, we had cockroaches too. And, then we saw a Geckos on the curtain of the bedroom.

The hotel is beautiful and the stuff are very friendly and welcoming and the entertainment team were great but such a hotel should be very clean specially inside the rooms. Cockroaches and Geckos can't be inside the bedrooms. That is too bad.

The front facing staff were, with one exception, very friendly and helpful. We had adjoining rooms and in both of the bathrooms the paint was peeling off in parts, the shower pressure could have been better as could the quality of towels. The bedroom areas were both nice after benefitting from some upgrading work, although the house keeping could improve. The supply of food was very generous but a little repetitive, one of the a la carte choices was first class, and for us, the drinks were good. On the whole, we had a very relaxing stay which I would rate as average, nothing awful but nothing amazing either. There is obviously a programme of improvements underway with the property and once completed this will enhance the overall experience of guests.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with the third single childs bed and they went out of their way to help sort this out for us. Even got a brand new single mattress! The resort entertainers were enthusiastic and always smiling. Would definitely recommend to families as all is made easy for you.

The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was pretty good (didn't like the themed night buffets, like mexican food served in Portugal). Also the Reservation restaurant is nice, but their menu as inclusive food, and anything outside of that you have to pay (didn't like that we were not notified of this beforehand). Rooms were nice and AC works very well ! Although the beds were super hard ( I weight 248 lbs and could feel the bed springs in my hips and torso side). All in all, i give it 4 out 5 stars !

We arrived late in the evening after our transfer from the airport. The resort had arranged the transfer for us and the driver was waiting at arrivals for the 8 of us in our group. He was great and gave us a bit of a tour on the way to Calheta.
Our reception at the resort went well and the woman on duty made sure we got down to the buffet before it closed. She was very friendly and attentive to our needs after a long day of travel.
Our rooms were modern and clean and cleaned and tidied well each day by the cleaning staff,
The buffet was great with a large selection of food items. Drinks at the bar were served quickly and were good. The \"drink of the day\" by the pool was excellent on the 2 days we had them.
The resort is in a beautiful location, nestled below a cliff. There is a public beach next to the resort which has great sand and water access.
Evening entertainment was fairly low key but pleasant as we enjoyed the evening by the pool while listening to a musician or watching the dancers.
We had no complaints about the staff at the resort. They were friendly and did their job well.
All in all I would recommend staying at this all inclusive Calheta Beach Hotel on the beautiful island of Madeira.

Worst experience I have had in 25 years of travel across 50+ countries. My room was disgusting, I paid for a suite with an ocean view and was given the equivalent to a motel 6 in a small town with no view, no AC, and the worst access to food I’ve ever seen. I paid $3k for this… it was so bad I left after just 2 days and they refused to refund me even though I bought a room that was NOTHING like what I got. Do not book.

Not what we were expecting from a hotel that sports the name savoy the hotel itself was very clean and tidy the food however was terrible by the time you had made your way around the buffet your food was cold, mostly consisting of low quality high carb foods the juice was so watered down they were indistinguishable from each other, the evening entertainment was so loud one night it sounded like a football stadium, nowhere to go to have a quiet drink. And the restaurant had no dress code and allowed the children to run around sticking their hands into the food mainly the ice cream no parental control, it’s billed as a four star but overall is no better than butlins. Certainly will not be returning to any of their hotels and certainly would not recommend any one to use them.

A very relaxed ambience at rhe hotel. Staff were always helpful and responsive. Front desk staff were helpful with ideas for trips. Main plus for us was safe beach / sea access right next to the hotel.
Slight downside was the room was dated, bad lighting in the room. And no proper coffee available other than at the bar which opened in the evening.
Overall we had a really nice stay and would consider staying again.

Our time at this resort was absolutely amazing! We were a little worried because of the mixed reviews but we had a great time. Some reviews said that the food was horrible, but keep in mind you are booking a fairly cheap all inclusive resort so you can't expect Michelin star dining. As not food critiques, we thought the food was great! We were worried because we saw in reviews that the all inclusive package doesn't actually include ALL food and drinks, however, everything is very well labelled on menus so you know what is included. The staff also always mentioned what was included in the all inclusive. The buffet is completely included, and the other two restaurants that you have to reserve state on their menus what you can order. Reviews said that only pre-mixed cocktails were included, but the list of drinks available was very extensive. I have put a photo of the all inclusive drink list on this review. The staff was super nice, the room was clean and we had booked a double bed, but it was huge, more like the size of a California king. There was entertainment every night and daily activities that were free to participate in. The saunas in the spa are also free to use, but booking a massage is extra. We took a Bolt to and from the airport and it was only 40 euros each way. All the beach chairs on the resort are free to use, but the ones on the beach cost 2 euros for a whole day to book (we didn't feel a need to do this).

This hotel is not all it claims to be. Pictures look way better online than what it looks like in person. The rooms are old and need to be updated. The all inclusive component is a joke. The food at the buffet is inedible and absolutely terrible. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. We tried to get out of reservation after one night and they would not refund us for the nights we hadn't stay yet. They blamed Expedia. Finally, after many wasted hours going back and forth they offered us to go stay down the street at their sister hotel for additional charges. Basically, we had to pay again with a small discount. The sister hotel was 5 stars and fantastic. It was not all inclusive, but did include breakfast and it was excellent.

The pool and drinks were the highlight. Property is well maintained and clean. The beach area is also nice but you have to pay for umbrella and chair rental. Food was terrible and I’m pretty easy to please if I’m not cooking or cleaning up after myself. Massage I received was also terrible. Most of the staff were friendly but a handful of rude staff really stood out. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Calheta Beach Resort is a simple yet lovely beach property. Some reviews say ‘dated’, but I think that’s the charm of the place. Food was good, not great, but service was fantastic all across the board. Easy to get to and easy to take day trips to Porto Moniz and Funchal. I would recommend Calheta Beach.

Overall had a fantastic holiday, a few factors stopped me from giving it an excellent star.
As a vegetarian I would suggest labeling the food with a veggie symbol or having a dedicated vegetarian section in the buffet area.
Smoking on the hotel balconies - not sure if it's actually allowed but be greeted by downstairs smoke at 6am is disgusting.

We found at all times that the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was varied and always had something that would apeal to someone with varied taste.

The snacks and drinks were always on offer throughout the day and you are never waiting long to get served

Nice touches like help yourself to wine from.tye bottle. Beer from the pump or softdrinks and chilled water

Although there is a great pool and pool side area the man made beach is no more that 50m walk away so easy to go for a swim in the sea if you need a greater expanse of water to enjoy

I would thoroughly recommend a stay here to anyone.

The hotel was very nice, plenty of everything and sun beds were plentiful if you wanted them. Its on one of the very few sandy beaches on the island . Food was very good, staff were nice. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Parking you have to pay 8.50 Euros a day if you use the covered car park opposite. We did that the first night but then used the free on road parking about 3 minutes walk away (not the blue zones but just beyond). Spaces are limited but saved us some money.

Madeira island as a whole is beautiful! I highly recommend coming here. However, I would stay anywhere else. This hotel is very new according to locals, and the lack of attention to not even details but just basic expectations of an all inclusive is evident. The food is horrible, we spent most of our time eating across the street at the grocery store. Each night had a different theme, I liked the fact they tried to make it fun and different. But, putting on outfits and different music did not mask the foods quality. The food was not edible, I heard many people complaining .The drinks were atrocious, my boyfriend is not a big beer drinker but we both stuck to beers the whole week. Every cocktail tasted either watered down or dirty. The only cocktail I remotely liked was an espresso martini. I am a bartender and aware these are tedious to make, but was shocked when I ordered one to have a server aggressively sigh and roll his eyes. Although he made the drink, he left all the ice in the glass and did not shake it.
If you’ve ever worked in the service industry you have a certain level of empathy for people working like this. But my empathy ran out by the end of the week. There were only so many times I could take bad service, rude employees and a negative atmosphere on the chin. A manager needs to step in and set some quality standards. Madeira is a must visit, but don’t stay here. It’s a waste of money, I could’ve spent a lot less staying elsewhere else & making food myself.

just returned from an excellent week at this hotel , all the staff are so friendly and helpful . we needed assistance with Gluten Free meals , the head chef would come out each day and advise what could be eaten and even cooked fresh if nothing was suitable , Best Gluten Free service we have ever had in a hotel.
The all inclusive food was very fresh and a varied menu all week .
Only advise for hotel is please label the Gluten Free table in varies languages as people were causing cross contamination by mistake .

Wide range of excursions available , we also paid extra for a spa day at their sister hotel in the same resort

Expresso bar across the road run by hotel is also excellent . .

Great hotel excellent staff and great food and drink options for an all inclusive. Relaxing vibe but well located for walking esp if you hire a car, and beach next door. Recommend getting sea view rooms-worth the extra. Good quality food with lots of variety, changes every night and option to eat in restaurant, Always something to eat throughout the day. No queues for drinks and plenty of sunbeds available when we stayed end of September. Also this area seems to get the best weather which can be varied in Madeira.

The staff very friendly and understanding.The gym opening at 8am I cannot understand it should be available well before Breakfast it's not unusual to have the gym open 24hrs. All inclusive is perfect treat in Madeira with the varieties of food, friendliness of staff and the amenities are simply outstanding. Staff is very attentive to your needs they will help you whenever you need it.
They decorated our room as we were on our honeymoon which was a good surprise and offered a bottle of champagne too.
Breakfast and Dinner are the only food services we used and they were really good. All inclusive also means drinks so this could be dangerous. It’s almost like a one stop stay for everything. They offer different entertainment every day that ranges from fitness classes to Portuguese lessons and some board games. If you are tired by the end of the day they have lovely live music that you can enjoy and take part in dancing before heading for a well deserved snooze.

The only downside is if you are travelling by car - there is no free parking during the day but there is free parking in the evening which starts from 7pm to 8am. The prices are not as expensive but if you forget to put the ticket you will be fined!

A very good value-for-money hotel

Overall, an excellent hotel. Chose a mid-price room that had sufficient space, a balcony and a sea-view. Apart from the expected standard features, the room had a fridge which was most useful.
We were all-inclusive which in hindsight was probably the best option as there were not many other eating / drinking premises near the hotel. The food was plentiful, varied and of a good quality. (British guests) do not expect the fare you eat in the UK, it is certainly much more Mediterranean - but every dish was fresh and very well prepared.
The hotel swimming pool / sun-lounger provision was entirely adequate for the number of guests staying at the time, although unsure of the percentage occupancy.
Non-alcoholic beverages were available on a self-service basis 24/7 which was an excellent arrangement. The staffed bar was open from mid-morning until late at night and served a wide range of alcoholic beverage including coctails.
A definite surprise bonus was the self-service access to ice-cream!
There are a range of activities / games available on the hotel site viz. gym, sauna, table tennis etc
Maderia is not renown for sandy beaches, but one has been constructed just outside the hotel - it is a public facility but not at all crowded at any point.
We found all staff to be proficient, hard-working and very helpful. We were impressed that the General Manager was constantly patrolling the hotel and was always available,
Overall we thought that this was an excellent hotel for the price

Food was pretty average although staff very efficient, Andre was very attentive.
Pool was very cold..!!
Overall would stay again if visiting the area.

Most of the staff surly and unfriendly. Food very disappointing poor choice and lukewarm. Staff in restaurant unfriendly . Paid extra 40 euros for upgrade and was only shown the wine list the day before we were leaving. Unable to book the a la carte restaurant . Meals in a la carte restaurant limited and of different quality to other diners. Bed linen not changed at all during stay.

Hotel was fine, food and drink selection ample, staff were lovely.
The area currently leaves something to be desired, most coastal areas of Madeira that we saw were mountainous, and Calheta had suffered from rockslides so severe that the the local restaurant had it's roof caved in and all of the few local shops / bars in the harbour were shut and cordoned off.
On top of this there was repair work taking place on the rock face to prevent further falling, so drilling was audible all day.
A shame, it didn't spoil our short break but it was disappointing that you had no option other than the hotel's facilities and that there was the work noise during the day.

Liked: friendly and helpful staff, all the public areas were clean attractively decorated and comfortable, beautiful view from balcony, pleasant dining areas, well laid-out pool and outside seating area.
Disliked: Very little storage space in the bedroom; outside area had one small covered-in space a long way back from the swimming pool for non-smokers but smokers were everywhere else; one morning we moved seats four times because every time we settled down, someone lit up next to us. Advertised as 'all-inclusive' but access to the restaurant (as opposed to buffet) is limited and using the room's safe is extra; we took the 'premium guest' upgrade but it wasn't worth the cost.

The hotel is excellent for those who want to spend their time using the facilities there: Calheta Beach itself is quite isolated - the hotel shuttle to Funchal is 20 Euros and taxis are a lot more, but there are several good island tours which pick up from the hotel for those who want to see more of Madeira.

Overall, even taking the 'dislikes' into account, I enjoyed staying at the hotel and would recommend it.

Lovely friendly hotel ideal for a relaxing break

This is a lovely hotel overlooking the sea, beach and marina. Good all inclusive package offering very nice rooms, good food and good facilities. Very friendly staff, hotel is situated in quiet village on south west coast of island with easy access to Funchal and other areas of interest either by taxi, or by hiring a car which is easy to arrange and very affordable. Would recommend to couples and families.

Great Hotel but with bwlow average food

This hotel is clean and modern with super friendly and helpful staff.

Though it had both an indoor and outdoor pool, they both could be bigger and deeper.

Drinks are good, as is the entertainment. rooms massive, beautifully decorated and comfortable. What let's this hotel down us the food which is similar to canteen food. Best eat locally which is quite cheap and good quality.

The hotel is located 45 minutes from the the main town but taxis are across the road providing island tours for a reasonable price if you go as a group.

I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it but jysing the bed and breakfast option.

The sea view is totally ruined by the concrete blocks they used for the new beach and marina,which is still under construction! Breakfast is poor,dinner is ok! There is a supermarket and a coffee shop in the annex building

Calheta paradise

An amazing hotel, the reception staff couldn’t do enough for you and were very informative about the local area. The food was great, nice variety and great service in restaurant. You need to to hire a car if you want to really see this beautiful Ialand although wouldn’t really recommend driving into Funchal - very busy! We would definitely book again without hesitation.

LOVELY CLEAN AND WELL RUN HOTEL.

Great hotel for some peace and quite,very clean well looked after friendly staff,spa is well worth a visit great treatments,the room was so nice had everything you could need nice touch with the soap,shower gel and washing up liquid dispensers,the staff were all top notch so helpful and friendly all the time,the only thing i would say was the pool was freezing just would have been nice to be heated,but saying that its a 6/5 for me,thanks for a great stay all.

Escape from the British weather

Enjoyable ten days (9 sunny) escape from the British weather. Hotel quite remote so much sunbathing (avoid new blue and white beds which give backache, those on upper tier much more supportive!). Beach alongside the hotel is under construction hence several days blighted by screeching diggers. To see this beautiful island you really need to hire a car or have deep pockets for organised day trips. Restaurant a bit 'cafeteria' and disappointing that the stated dress code is not enforced .Coffee (from machines or in the bar) is just awful although food is generally good and 2 nights at the 'a la carte' restaurant next door is a bonus (though portions huge!) Evening entertainment was welcome and gave the bar a good atmosphere. Staff are amenable enough but don't really go the extra mile. Would have liked more daytime fitness opportunities than one 'stretching' session. Our room with balcony and sea view (including large digger!) was comfortable and cleaned well though we would have liked more storage than 6 coat-hangers and 2 drawers and the shower is feeble for those with long hair.

A good all-inclusive hotel

A good all-inclusive hotel. Food and drink above average. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, especially at reception. Bed very comfortable. A bit remote if you don't have a car, although there are shuttle buses available.
