This is a beautiful location with stunning views. Just be aware that it the shuttle bus from the resort doesn't always go into town everyday. The village is far from Funchal and the public transportation is not always reliable or ontime.

I booked this place in December 2025 for the gym, the view, tranquility and the pools. The gym is NOT really a gym. It is a tiny room with a new treadmill and old bike and a weight machine. At times several ppl tried to use the gym at the same time but this was not possible due ot the small space. The gym is stuffy and also has no wifi or any exteral views.The pols are not heated so I did not swim.

There was no cleaning during my 8 days stay. There were 🐜 's in the kitchen. Someone came once to empty the in and change the towels.

The kitchen has good equipment and is spacious. The place is dated and could definitely do with a refurb to take it into 2026.

I liked the location and might go back .

This place has enormous potential, but the staff make the experience genuinely awful. We have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world, and we have never encountered this level of disdain for guests.

The front desk staff openly laugh at guests and seem to take pride in making stays more difficult. Need towels for the sauna? Be prepared to pay to “rent” one—only to be told you must keep that same towel for the entire stay. That means using it in the sweaty sauna, then for your shower, then at the pool. Fresh towels are never provided.

Housekeeping? There is none. Rooms are not cleaned at any point during your stay—no new towels, no tidying, nothing. Beds have no sheets, just a comforter that appears never to have been washed.

Hot water lasts about 30 seconds, and no one will address it. Early check-in or late check-out is flatly denied, often with smug smiles, as if refusing basic hospitality is a point of pride.

The on-site shop closes early without warning—don’t expect staff to tell you that you need to arrive before 1 p.m. if you want water or essentials. The “heated” pool was freezing cold, as were the sauna and hot tub. No staff were available to help with malfunctioning equipment, filthy locker rooms, or—once again—towels.

This property has great bones, but the customer service is shockingly bad.

Lovely hotel in the middle of nowhere, if that’s your vibe then this is great. We had a car for the stay so was easy enough to get around. Views are amazing m, food is pretty decent and lots and lots of entertainment for both adults and kids alike…

The only downside to this was that we had lots of ants near a window they had left opened…

The complex had everything we needed. Spacious and clean apartment with an amazing view over Funchal and the sea, with a nice size balcony and outdoors seating. The downside was the road in-between the accommodation and the facilities. It was quiet late at night although the traffic in the morning with all the tourist vehicles coming up the hill was rather noisy. We live in a village, so noticed it. It was quiet by the pool side though.
It has a restaurant and pool bar that does snacks at reasonable prices. There are two pools and sometimes I had the pool to myself to do laps. My highlight.
Communication was excellent. Lots of information on what to do, and just ask if you don't know. The complex organises event nights, excursions, transportation, anything you need.
It is on the highest point and away from Funchal, so if you want to be away from the capital which we found too built up, this is a great place. We were surprised how built up the south of the island is. Sometimes though, being high up, it attracts the clouds and cooler than being on the lower level of Funchal. Not much there without transport. You can get a local bus to Funchal and Lagos and a few other places. Or a shuttle bus from the complex, or a taxi. The complex organise with a few restaurants a shuttle bus to and from, which was perfect.
A perfect place to relax and do some excursion and/or walks.
I would recommend it for value.

The location of the hotel was incredible, it was really beautiful and has a view of the cliffs and the ocean. The hotel, Itself, is a little worn down and needs a little upgrading. All in all the bed was comfortable and it’s nice to have a little kitchenette. It also had a spa and swimming pool so you don’t have to go into town (far) unless you want to. I wouldn’t suggest driving yourself, especially if you’re not used to the roads of Madeira.

A nice resort in a stunning location.

Our accommodations were in a beautiful location . albeit at a high altitude which for some would require a challenge climbing stairs and hills. The amenities: pool, spa, tennis court, miniature golf, DVD library were excellent for our stay. Our unit itself was spacious and clean . I would definitely consider a return visit. The restaurant, pool bar and mini mart aptly provided us with delicious food and beverage although we did buy groceries and wine for our unit. Staff was friendly and supportive.

We spent one week in a one bedroom apartment in this wonderful property. The location is magical, right next to the Cabo Girao sea cliff with great views to the water, quiet, away from the hubbub of the towns, yet reasonably close to most sightseeing and a good base to explore the entire island. The apartment was clean, spacious and immediately felt like home. Nice bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and great balcony. Parking right below. The property has a convenient grocery store, two nice pools, a spa and several other amenities we did not use because we were out and about the whole day. Overall, we were very satisfied by this stay and it was excellent value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a good location to explore Madeira. It had great amenities for our family. Really liked the fact that the grocery store at the resort had very affordable prices (in some cases better than we found at the local supermarkets). Most of the staff we found to be very friendly. Our apartment was clean and well-equipped. They had access to a free laundry room and the resort has a shuttle and access to excursions if you don't want to book your own.

There are two pools, and saunas, but they close fairly early. Lots of cars coming through the area to see Cabo Girao. The apartment was well decorated and comfortable, but ants were all over the kitchen. Impossible to store any food or cook. We had to place our completely empty, yet infested with ants, garbage bin outside, as soon as we arrived. The WiFi was very slow, unable to do any work. Plenty of parking.

Village Cabo Girao provided great value. While the property is a bit dated everything was very clean and in good order. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The onsite grocery was well stocked and prices were reasonable so we were able to be self-sufficient during our stay. The views from the property are outstanding but note that it is a long & winding road down from the heights. If you seek a quiet escape and do not need to be in the midst of nightlife, I can certainly recommend.

it's on top of the mountain so you definitely need a car to get here, otherwise you can take taxi from major towns below but would highly recommend a car hire.
plenty to do on site for adults and kids, excellent games room and excellent restaurant for dinner, reaonable price too compared to nearby restaurants and high quality.

would like a bit more variety for the breakfast but it's all fresh cooked everyday. nice view too.

Beautiful location with great views of the sea and coastline. The hotel has loads of sports and games on site. The food in the restaurant and the poolside bar is delicious. The staff are all really friendly and helpful. There are walks of the levadas mapped out from the hotel for you to you walk. Local buses stop very nearby, so it’s very easy to visit other towns, including Funchal. They have a large DVD collection which you can use for free which was useful for entertaining the kids when we were in the room. The rooms were clean and well equipped. We had a great holiday and I would definitely go back.

Spectacular hillside/cliff top resort

Stayed in a good-size one bedroom apartment , with full kitchen facilities. There are great views from the apartment and large balcony area. The resort offers excellent sporting facilities too. It helps to be in good physical shape to stay here though due to its hillside location, therefore lots of steps everywhere. It helps too to have a hire car and one with a powerful engine: we were often in first or second gear on the steep access roads! An excellent resort though and one we will be happy to return to.

Lovely clean apartment. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We took the bus into Funchal which was an interestingly scenic journey in. The hotel do offer a shuttle bus service but local bus a lot cheaper. Very scenic area around hotel but not much else. Nearest town is fishing village of Camera los Lobos which is about €18 in taxi or bus for €1.30! Good pool and facilities in hotel though shop a bit pricey. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A wonderful resort high in the mountains with lovely sea and country views.Good food and very helpful staff in all departments makes this a happy and comfortable resort. A long way from other facilities but a bus runs from nearby into villages and Funchal. Great for relaxing or if you like trekking a good base for mountain walks. However not good if you have walking difficulties although there is a courtesy bus around the (large) site.

Fantastic apartments, a real home from home, everything you would need has been thought of and placed in the apartments, kitchen is especially well equipped. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area, a kitchen and a furnished balcony with a sea view. Maids make the beds etc every day except Sunday. The pool and bar area are fantastic too. Staff so helpful, particularly those on reception. The complex is high up on a hill which makes for a pleasant climate, cooler in the morning and evening, sleeping was no problem. However, there are many steps between reception and the apartments. The location is quiet and idyllic, quite isolated really. A car would be a good idea. However, several restaurants in Camara de Lobos will send free mini buses, you just have to book in advance and the hotel offers a shuttle to Funchal etc. We had a lovely holiday here.

Large apartment, great views and facilities

Our experience of Village Cabo Girao was so good we almost don't want to tell anyone in case it gets booked up!
The apartment itself was spacious and clean, with wonderful ocean views. The onsite facilities were perfect for us as a family with 9 & 10 year old boys. In particular, we appreciated the fact that equipment was provided free-of-charge for all the activities- mini golf, tennis, bowls, pool, table-tennis etc. Also the decent-sized pools were heated to a comfortable temperature so we could swim even on a cloudy day.
The staff were welcoming and helpful. Although we didn't eat in the restaurant every night, we can highly recommend the BBQ night where the food was plentiful and tasty.
Location wise, the apartments are near the top of a sea cliff, so the drive up is a little steep, as is the walk back up to your apartment from the main hotel! So perhaps not good if you have mobility issues, but for us, as a fairly active family, we cannot fault it! Thank you for a lovely holiday.

This Resort is the best for location, each room or villa has a privet patio with a view. You will not be disappointed. The amenities are endless and included. Love the fact they had an onsite grocery store. It is located so close to off site groceries and restaurants. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. fresh towels everyday if desired. We would come back and recommend to other travelers.

Very nice stay. Great facilities at the hotel. Free Swimming, free internet, free wifi, free parking. Games room. Great for walks. There are a few steps to walk up, depending on which apartment you receive. The surrounding area quite hilly. Driving there can be a bit of a challenge because of the hill. There is a shuttle bus usually twice a day from the hotel that will bring you to Funchal.

A most enjoyable holiday.

Could not have been more enjoyable; all staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful and also professional. The mini market had something of everything needed and the mini van driver was superb on very demanding roads. Although we had hired a car my wife was very happy to either stay around the hotel - there was much one could do to relax, in lovely weather - or take either the minivan to Funchal, or an organised coach trip. We will definitely plan to go back. N.B. strong recommendation to anyone planning to go to Madeira for the first time: rent a (small is good, can corner best) deisel car/van of at least 2000cc capacity for ease of driving on the very steep (occasionally seemed like 1 in 3, or 1 in 4.

Super endroit où séjourner à Madère

L’appartement est très spacieux, propre et confortable. Il possède tout le nécessaire pour cuisiner et on se gare facilement. L’environnement est calme. Le point gênant est juste la porte commune avec un autre appartement.
Il y a de nombreuses activités dans les parties communes : billard, piscines, mini golf etc.
L’emplacement était parfait dans les hauteurs près du point de vue de Cabo Girao. Il faut être à l’aise avec la conduite en montagne mais cela est valable tout le temps à Madère.
Le dîner au restaurant de l’hôtel était très bon mais les quantités un peu justes. L’happy hour au bar est bien appréciable et à un tarif très abordable. Le petit dej buffet était complet avec suffisamment de choix.
Il y a 2 restaurants de spécialités à proximité aussi très bien et avec des prix abordables.
C’est un endroit convivial à Madère où nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

Das Hotel ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen und bräuchte hier und da eine Sanierung. Die Möbel sind ebenfalls schon sehr alt. Die Betten waren unglaublich unbequem.
Das Frühstück war umfangreich und lecker, das Abendessen Buffet war den Preis leider absolut nicht wert.
Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit, außerordentlich freundlich und engagiert. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig, der Ausblick ist traumhaft. Parkmöglichkeiten direkt vor der Türe vorhanden. Der kleine Minimarkt im Hotel hat faire Preise und alles was man zur Grundversorgung braucht.

God beliggenhed med udsigt over vandet. Dejlig rummelig lejlighed med alt hvad man behøver. God service i receptionen. Pool bar/restaurant har et lidt kedeligt menukort med pommes frites til alt. Det er nødvendigt at tage en elevator fra receptionen for at komme til poolen. Middag i den rigtige restaurant var en god oplevelse. Der er ingen indkøbsmuligheder i nærheden udover den lille købmand på selve resortet.

Let's start with worst part: the employee called Carla at the bar. Rudeness and arrogance characterise her the most. Not an ounce of professionalism and a sense of service... For someone who was running the bar in the morning, she was a bad pick.
Next: none of the spa amenities were working. The sauna was warm, reaching max 40° C (it should be minimum 60°C) and the Hammam at 36-39°C. Most of the jets in the jacuzzi didn't work and the water was cold.
Thank goodness the pools were open and working... And lastly, most DVDs of those we chose are scratched.
Putting that aside, most of the staff were really friendly and nice! The receptionists José, Nicole and Ofélia were very attentive and helpful. Lídia, our maid, was very professional and always asked if we needed a change of towels (cos we didn't need cleaning during our 6 night stay).
The apartment itself was comfortable, but needs to be modernised. Those late 90s headboards are something worth getting rid of...

Très bon rapport qualité-prix

Séjour d'une semaine très agréable dans cet hôtel mi-club mi-residence.
Les appartements sont très propres et bien équipées.
Deux belles piscines dont une chauffée et intérieure.
Spéciale mention à l'Aquagym tous les deux jours en semaine que nous avons particulièrement apprécié à 9h le matin (il faut s'inscrire la veille avant 18h. Mais nous nous sommes toujours inscrits plus tard et ça a marché)
Il y a une buanderie avec des machines à laver et un sèche-linge dans chaque bloc d'appartements (gratuit).
Il y a une petite supérette intérieure à l'hôtel pour faire quelques courses à des prix très raisonnables.
Le snack au niveau de la piscine propose une petite carte simple et efficace (sandwich club, omelettes, frites, etc). Il y a aussi un restaurant plus élaboré pour le soir.
L'hôtel étant un peu excentré et en hauteur, il vaut mieux avoir une voiture pour les visites. Sinon des excursions sont proposées.
C'est à 5 minutes à pied à peine de l'attraction Cabo Girao.
Si c'était à refaire, nous choisirions à nouveau cet hôtel car pour 120 € la nuit c'est un très bon rapport qualité prix.

Perfect location in the center for the southside of the island, therefore an ideal starting point for all of your dautrips around the island. You do need a car as the nearest town/supermarket is a 15 minutes drive on the twisty and hilly roads. We really liked the spacious appartment (MC2) and the stunning sight over the valley and sea. This was way better as expected on forehand. The location on the hill 600m above the sea has a very nice climate in August, as there is no airco and we didn't miss it neither. The pools, spa, tennis, minigolf are fun althought some maintenance has to be done. The restaurants are ok, although we didn't make very much use of them.

Super Anlage mit tollem Blick auf Meer und über die Insel. Apartment war sehr schön und Umfangreich eingerichtet. Anlage bietet viele Aktivitäten: Tennis, Minigolf, Tischtennis usw. Die Anfahrt mit einem kleinen leicht motorisierten PKW aus Ruchtung Funchal war jedesmal ein Abenteuer.

Séjour très agréable. Etablissement très bien situé et très propre.
Par contre, un mauvais point pour l'accueil: arrivés vers 19h30, la porte de le réception était verrouillée et nous ne possédions pas le code. Un n° de téléphone était affiché: personne n'a répondu à notre appel. Nous avons pu entrer grâce à des résidents français.
D'autre part le petit déjeuner et le restaurant ne sont pas à la hauteur: carte peu variée et serveur désagréable.

Une vue à couper le souffle

Quelle vue, je ne m'en lasse pas.
Les appartements sont très fonctionnels, correctement équipés (pas de de lave-vaisselle, ni de machine à café cependant) et disposent tous de cette vue vertigineuse.
Nous avons très peu utilisé les installations de la propriété qui sont nombreuses.
Seul bémol, les immeubles sont assez sonores, donc si vos voisins sont bruyants, vous le saurez.
