The hotel was very comfortable, quiet, and an easy bus ride to the centre of town. The staff was friendly and helpful. Notable were the free garage parking for our rental car as well as the quality of meals in the various restaurants. Would definitely vacation there again.

I felt snubbed by the staff of the front desk area. The reception was cold and the check-out was even colder. I felt like I was treated harshly perhaps because I was American. There was no warm welcome for me and my family and the check-out was even colder. The guy didn't say a thing nor ask how our stay was.

I commend the food staff and waiters. You'll be well taken care of there. They were very hospitable, accommodating, and smiled! Housekeeping was daily and done well.

The Portuguese at Enotel Lido do not honor nor exercise hospitality basics. If they're not happy with their job, it shows. Worse, if they don't like you because of where you're from, it shows. I speak specifically about the check-in and check-out desk. Not a single smile when we had to interact with them.

A fantastic hotel which managed to balance chic modernity with tradition and comfort, both in communal areas and in the spacious and comfortable rooms. A great selection of bars and restaurants though the buffet alone was more than adequate - delicious food with great variety, and I was pleased to see vegan and gluten free options. Excellent service. Good entertainment but it wasn’t “in your face”, you had to go to the right place rather than be forced to endure anything you didn’t want to.

Having tried two other 5 star and two other 4 star hotels in Madeira, we can confidently say this was the best.

Overall excellent and only the most minor of suggestions for improvements - soft close toilet lids and a map of the building for guests!

Family Friendly meets Pensioner Retreat

Great hotel, friendly service. FREE Parking! Food got the job done. My kids 11 and 5 enjoyed the kids club. Our family room was HUGE by European standards— we are American. Bath tub and standup shower. Whole place has a cruise ship feel as everyone convenes at either the Piano Bar, Lounge or sports bar after dinner. We wanted a hotel where we could retreat with ease after adventuring during the day. The dining options and cocktails made it feel like our vacation was easy. The hotel consisted of half pensioners, other half mix of families, couples etc.

Over all, huge value here. If you are looking for a multigenerational hotel destination, this is perfect.

Enotel Lido is a 10 floor hotel centrally located 10 to 12 minutes by car from old Funchal. We stayed for 7 nights and were impressed with its housekeeping services, pristine grounds, and exceptional buffet menu. Each night was themed and there was an extensive vegetarian option. Lamb, chicken, duck, veal, shrimp and fish were outstanding. Desserts were incredible!! We plan to return as long as the chef doesn’t leave!!

Shower area so tiny you can hardly wash your hair. Spa areas smelled unclean and hot tub area under construction and not hot at all.

Very good sized rooms, staff were mostly helpful and very friendly. Nice swimming pool and sun terrace. However, some of the facilities were tired and in need of being updated. What really spoilt it for us was that it was All Inclusive but the hot food was terrible. In the buffet, we never had an occasion when the food was hot, at very best it was lukewarm. When we first arrived mid-afternoon, we went to the snack bar & the pizzas looked like they had been sitting there for ages, the chips and other food was cold.

There is a good selection of food at the buffet with pasta cooked fresh, selections of meat and fish. Many of the salads had onions in which isn’t ideal if you don’t eat onions.
The Beach bar has food all the time and endless ice cream for the kids.
The outdoor pool is very nice and a great temperature. It is a little crowded with the sun loungers. The indoor pool is convenient because it is also outside and close to the bar with plenty of tables and chairs to relax.
There is table tennis and table football, however it would have been better to have more than one table as we found that we had to wait a long time to play.
The pool and snooker tables were great, although the quality of the cues was not good and there was no chalk.
We used the iron and ironing board for 2 hours.
We had a family suite and it was very spacious with a small living room as you entered and a nice big terrace.
It was easy to get a taxi, we just asked reception to call and they came quickly. There is a Spar within walking distance.

It is very much a family resort hotel, busy pool area. Food was average buffet stuff, drinks were ok and unlimited, barman made a nice Negroni for me each evening. After the first night we ate out in the old town which is very nice. For large family groups it is probably superb, for a couple you are better without the all inclusive as the restaurants in the town are not that expensive.

Great location, we set up multiple tours etc and all companies were able to easily pick us up from the hotel. Also beautiful property/grounds. Rooms are very nice, all with balcony, great views! Bathrooms in the hotel rooms could use a little TLC. Loved the all inclusive option! Buffett at every meal is fantastic!! The 3 themed restaurants are all very good (each open various days of week), though they have set menus (vegan/non vegan choice) and the Italian restaurant has somewhat small portions. Kai restaurant is very good, a great ‘stir-fry’ experience but an odd ‘first come, first serve’ process (for only 50 people, one seating on a few nights per week). People were sitting outside waiting almost an hour before it opened. And then all rush to form a line of sorts when doors are opening; seems like there might be a better way to get a ‘reservation’? There is an activities group that works VERY hard to entertain the guests- the poncha making and sampling was so much fun! The hotel did have super loud music from the pool deck one night until 1130pm which was a bit annoying. We called to ‘inquire’ when this would be turned off (we had a 6am tour pick up the next morning!)-the front desk informed us the music would also be playing like that on Wed night (ugh). But Wed night: no music, so perhaps other guests complained; (there were many families with young kids). Drinks from all bars hit or miss: some great, some ehh. But all staff very polite, provided terrific service!

This place was gorgeous. The food and drinks were great, lots of options. The restaurants were top notch and I really loved the \"tasting menu\" style they served. It felt really elevated and as a lover of food, I appreciated it very much. Its about a 30 minute walk to the city centre with lots of great shops and restaurants on the way. It was an older crowd of what seemed to be retired British people so it was a very chill , quiet and relaxed vibe.

I stayed in a suite and it was extremely comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The facilities were excellent and as an all inclusive resort, the food was absolutely fabulous and plenty of it during the day and night.You would never go hungry here!! You could also have a v active holiday here or a v relaxing one - the choice is yours with different pools to lounge by or using the gym (which is what I did daily). I will definitely go back to this resort again.

We were in room 950, next door was an electrical room. Often we were woken at all times through the night with staff smoking and talking. This happened 7 or 8 times through the holiday. It also left a really bad smell of smoke on our balcony. Most of the time we were unable to use our balcony.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Enotel Lido with the all inclusive package and I have to say, it was a wonderful experience!
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The room was spacious, clean, with an incredible ocean view and well-appointed with all the amenities I needed, including a comfortable bed and a great shower.

The hotel's location was also fantastic, with easy access to many popular attractions and restaurants. I especially appreciated the breakfast , lunch and dinner every day which had a great variety of options to suit everyone's tastes.

The agent in the hotel booked two full days tours on my trip which were fantastic! Our knowledgeable guides took us to all the must-see sights and provided fascinating historical and cultural context. Each day was filled with unique experiences and surprises, from exploring beautiful places in the Island,

Overall, I highly recommend the this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable stay in this area. I can't wait to return on my next visit to Madeira and would stay here again in the future!

We found the hotel spa facilities amazing, one of the best i have seen, however the rest of the service/facilities would say they were ok definitely not superb and not for a 5 star hotel. While we were there, it was clear the hotel was short staffed, staff seemed stressed and not very welcoming, from reception to the waiters at the restaurant: the queue for the food in the evening was ridiculously long, could wait 20 minutes for your main, the cleanliness in the main restaurant wasnt as per basic standard, you could see food from the evening before on the floor during breakfast. Activities were not many, aquagym in the morning with the same 80/70 music for the 5 times i went!Kids club was very good, well done to the young team there, although it would have been better to have some activities outside. It was an ok stay, however we were expecting more for an all inclusive 5 star hotel.

Lovely property! Great location for walking downtown or along the promenade.
Free garage parking was a great bonus.
We arrived 2 hours early but they let us check in right away. Our room was spotless and very large, I was not expecting such a large room! We had a corner suite, There was a living area along with a separate bedroom and the bathroom had a full shower and soaker tub. And two large balconies! One overlooked the ocean and the other overlooked the pool area.
Food was good, a fair amount of choices at all hours. Service was a bit slow for drinks at times but the staff was friendly.
My only small complaints are that the pool was very cold, and the bed was a bit too hard, sometimes uncomfortably so.
But overall I would not hesitate to recommend hotel lido to any of my friends and family, I hope to be back someday!
Also Madeira is GORGEOUS!!

It was a couple trip and unforgettable. It is a wonderful hotel, comfortable room, clean and with everything we need. All inclusive is really worth it, with a variety of drinks and food for all tastes, lots of vegetarian options. The staff are very friendly and always available to help. It was wonderful to stay at this hotel, the view from the hotel is incredible and we walked to the city of funchal with stunning views. It is really worth paying for the yellow bus that has a bus stop about 200 meters from the hotel. Highly recommend and for the first time we want to repeat a destination and stay in this hotel again!

Only senior citizens, at least in winter. The advertised activities like yoga and Pilates didn’t exist. The SPA treatments are reasonably priced though. Dining options very limited and the quality of the food does not warrant the hotel’s star rating at all. They’re generous with the wine in the all inclusive, but there isn’t a wine list or anything - it’s red, white, rose. Soulless atmosphere, especially the huge canteen-like buffet restaurant. The rooms are a good size, but that’s it. Sparsely decorated and few amenities provided. If you’re expecting a true 5 star experience, don’t go. If you are after a seniors club, an alternative to a serviced home for pensioners, this could be the place for you

The hotel exceeded all customer service expectations! All the staff were so warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel itself was clean, spacious and the spa (saltwater pool in particular) was outstanding and so peaceful.
The Atlantico restaurant offered a variety of food which tasted so fresh and their were a couple of gluten free options, too.

The all inclusive hotel fit for its name. The staff is friendly, always helpful and ready to give extra help if needed. Multi talented staff work in different areas and always smiling.

The reception is ready to help beyond our expectations as there were some issues for some of the friends bookings.

Hotel is just in front of the beach and great view and swimming pool just in front of the beach. Also heated pool was working for everyday.

Overall amazing stay and great food and amazing staff.

Would also like to mention one instance where our kids making a little noise while others having dinner, then one lady was infuriated to the restaurant manager (sorry don’t remember his name) but he calmly said it is family hotel and he can’t say kids not to have fun around. He handled the situation very well and didn’t take action under the pressure as lady was raising her voice to complain against him. Greats Thanks to him.

Overall hotel is good however it is not 5 star. Staff are excellent Cleanliness excellent Rooms would be if they put tea and coffee station in without having to ask and if when you do it gets replenished, also the cold drinks in room were nit replenished during our stay only on the first day, small oversight. No drinks available until downstairs bar opens unless you want your coffee in a plastic drinks glass. If you sit in main foyer you can only get drink at night so you need to go down to poolside and sit in what i can only call a underground garage on plastic chairs. When upstairs have lovely views and soft seating. Food was of good quality however never had a hot meal no matter when you arrived either stone cold or tepid unless you got omelette made or pasta, lots of nice eating places outside hotel and very reasonable, again options to eat at lunch are only in garage (downstairs) at poolside. Pool is nice however very crowded i have never had to do the hunt the lounger before or be able to be as close to other people that was not in my party very overcrowded however i would probably say this was due to hotel being very busy. Overall we had a pleasant stay and would return when other countries open up as i think you would get better reflection of hotel. So with a few little tweeks it could be a wonderful stay.

Madeira is a must visit place

The room with a terrace was simply great. Gorgeous unobstructed view of the ocean and gardens! Breakfast and buffet dinner were decent. However, only one a la carte restaurant was opened, and it was not possible to book a table due to a large number of guests. The patrons are mostly elderly people, and there’s no entertainment even on weekend nights. Even though there is a large and comfortable hall with a stage. Also, there are no premium drinks in the bar. The beach advertised is not suitable for swimming - very rocky and extremely small. Hotel’s personnel is very good and welcoming as all Madeira people we’ve met!

We loved this hotel, really clean and the 5 restaurants were good and a nice change to the buffet every evening. Buffet was lovely the nights we did have it though and always plenty of it.
We went in September so no children which we liked as made the pool area really quiet and never struggled for beds.
Well located within town for us, was about half hour walk to the port area so didn’t have the noise and busyness of the more central hotels but if you have mobility problems and want easy access to town then a central one may be better as the island is very hilly.
All round we loved it and consider it value for money and would recommend, we aren’t usually ones for revisiting locations and hotels but Madeira and this hotel we would definitely return to.

All staff are lovely and the foyer reception area is very nice.
Had paid for a two bedroom family suite which had a limited sea view, only one bathroom and was very dark. We felt like we were caged in because the main view was a wall and railing and one would have to really stand tall to see the sea. We asked to be moved and they located us interconnected rooms on the first floor with direct access to the pool area. Very disappointed with Expedia for advertising this resort as 5*. It clearly is not our standard of 5* resorts.
There was copious amounts of food and drinks at all times. However, the majority of desserts had animal gelatine so we ended up not being able to have any. The vegetarian options were very limited.
Lunch time was in the pool side restaurant where people were allowed to walk in and eat in their bikinis and swimming attire- this was so annoying and disrespectful.
Generally the whole poolside area was tacky and reminded me of a set from the Benidorm series.
I will be very careful in the future before booking an all inclusive holiday via Expedia- felt very let down!!

Hotel was superb in every way. Only downfall was the lethal pool surround. We saw one after another both adults and children landing hard on the pool surround after slipping on standing water. They werent even running just walking slowly. It was a miracle that no-one was badly injured.

Enotel Lido is an excellent property that offers great service from check-in staff who was very helpful and would answer all our questions. We loved Jesuita who was the nicest person always smiling and ready to help. The wait staff in the buffet restaurant was very helpful and fast.
The food in this hotel was very good with a lot of variety. The hotel is very clean. In the evenings we enjoyed good entertainment and wait staff from the bar was excellent during the day around the swimming pool and in the evenings. Kudos to them they really stand out with their customer service. We will definitely be back... what a great place to spend holidays.
