Loved it got a free upgrade.
My adult daughter and I enjoyed the pool, breakfast, gym and other facilities.
Did the Madeira tasting evening which was yummy, with plenty of food, and wine, well worth it.
Car park was a little tricky required reversing in, if arriving back later in the evening, but that added to the adventure of the holiday.

Hot tub was not heated! Pool was too cold to go in, but the weather was chilly so we wouldn’t have wanted to go in anyways. The breakfast was great. Excellent selection of fresh fruits, bakery, eggs, yogurt.
There are no amenities in the room. No ice bucket, snacks, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Shower was very small and the bed was shot on one side, the other side of the bed was comfortable. No furniture on patio view of the ocean. We traveled very far to visit Madeira and these accommodations fell short for us unfortunately.

Overall, the hotel was decent, but our room was very humid, even with the air conditioning on. The room didn’t look much like the photos shown on Expedia, which was a bit disappointing. It was generally clean, but we had a major issue with ants in the room, especially around the area where we kept our luggage, which made the stay less pleasant. The fridge wasn’t working and had a strong unpleasant smell.

On the positive side, the breakfast was very good, with plenty of variety every morning. However, dinner wasn’t worth it, it was quite expensive for cold pasta served buffet-style, with very little service. The parking was convenient and worth the small extra fee, although the spaces were quite narrow.

The hotel was very dated. The parking situation was horrible (lot to the side that the passenger would have get out to push the button to open each time you would enter or exit). The breakfast is an additional charge each day, and although I did not eat (I had a cup of coffee), I was charged for a full meal. Even checking out was hell - would not recommend this property.

We celebrated my daughters birthday and enjoyed the whole stay. Staff was always friendly. Room was very spacious and always cleaned early.
I wish the hotel didn’t promote smoking by the pool. We did not enjoy being surrounded by people freely smoking on their chairs and inhaling the smoke all day long in the heat. There should be a smoking area. Otherwise we highly recommend this hotel.

EXCELLENT STAY! Just wish that our flight was not canceled upon arrival due to the HISTORIC, COUNTRYWIDE BLACKOUT that took place on April 28, 2025 in Portugal (as well as Spain) for over 12 hours. The next flight to Funchal, Madeira was not available until 2 days later as we lost 2 nights. Regardless, EXCELLENT STAFF, EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!! THANK YOU!!

The property is lovely with excellent service; however, personal care items and other necessities are not offered; no shampoo, conditioner, body lotion; no packets of coffee and teas; no daily bottle of water!!!!! You get one bottle of water with 2 packets of coffee, then no more! Will NOT stay there again. B&B is a better option if you won’t have basic amenities at the hotel.

On one of the morning at 6am I witnessed one of the most poorly organised fire evacuations I have ever seen. The fire alarm was going off for half an hour, some people were told to turn around and go back to their rooms some didn’t have information. No member of staff was around to co-ordinate us or send us to the assembly area. We were stood outside with no information. Even when the fire alarm finished, there was no check in place, no one was told it was safe to return. It was a shambles! I’ve never experienced anything like it. I am a young solo traveller and this was a very scary experience. i suggest you review your fire procedure because of there was a severe issue you would have fatalities on your hands.

I have also grievances with the lack of facilities advertised. When I booked I was made aware that there was a jacuzzi (the reason I chose this hotel as I thought it would be nice in winter months) when I went up to the roof to use it was taped off and closed. I went down to reception to speak to the lady and she was very short with me, saying it was being fixed right now (there was no one up there fixing it) I asked if she had a rough timeline, did she expect a couple of days/ months? She was very rude and didn’t give me any clarity or decent customer service!

I also had broken air on (which has now been fixed) and broken safe (also fixed) but should have been inspected upon check in.

I contacted management but had no response or support whatsoever.

Air conditioner was not working properly at check in. Two requests were made to fix it, resulting in a small fan being provided. This lasted until we left a week later. When I asked for a discount for our inconvenience at checkout, we were told that the hotel does not participate in such things.
Breakfast buffet was okay, nothing special.
On the upside, general staff was very good and attentive.
If you go anywhere in Madeira be prepared for a lot of hills! 45 degree inclines are common and you are never far from passing traffic and exhaust fumes.
We paid $200 a night, expected more for our money. Plenty of other hotels in Madeira, try one of those first.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel and our stay. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the grounds and view were gorgeous. We stayed in a deluxe ocean view room and it did not disappoint. The only thing I'd say that I took any issue with is the bathroom setup. Aesthetically it's beautiful, but practically ... not so much. The toilet has a sliding door without a lock and the shower is basically open. There is a curtain you can close from the bed side of the glass, but only on that side. If you're there by yourself or with a partner (and you're not shy) it's no problem, but I do tend to prefer a bit more privacy. This would absolutely not deter me from staying there again.

Regarding food, breakfast was excellent everyday. The dinner, for me, was a bit less so, but still good. My partner loved all of the fish and though I don't like fish as much, I always found something good to eat.

As for the location, it depends on what you want. For relaxation that's still close to restaurants and some shops, it's perfect. We didn't take the bus, but there's a stop immediately in front of the hotel to take you to the center and old town of Funchal. Walking takes about 25 minutes, depending on your speed.

We travel pretty frequently (once or twice a month) and this was one of the best hotels/stays we've ever had. I have no intention of staying anywhere else the next time we go to Madeira.

Only downside is it’s on a very steep hill if getting airport bus it’s only €5 per person each way very cheap. So just be prepared for the uphill walk!!. Lovely views from the roof top bar area

We have just returned from a lovely stay at the Savoy Gardens. Staff were helpful, room was clean and spacious and we had a great view. We'd asked to be away from the noise and this was accommodated. The breakfasts were good, hot tub on roof was good with a great view. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and this was a great choice.

Loved the hotel for the most part. Friendly staff good location and comfortable stay over all. However, I would have liked to see better selection of coffee and teas in the room than cheap lipton and nestcafe given that it is a 4 star hotel as such are found in 2 star accomdation. I would have also loved to see a gym/health club facilities. Lastly, the breakfast buffet is generous, indeed, however if one is staying for more than a couple days it gets really boring. Aside from that all the best.

No hot water and broken shower dirty bathroom on arrival. No water in room. Dirty carpet told due to flood. Room damp and smelt. On leaving and checking under bed found rotten apple left by a previous guest. Checking sea facing rooms they looked good. Manager found after 3 days of requsting. - apologised said room due to be decorated offered free dinner. Computer not working. Pool not heated. No courtesy bus and hotel on very steep hill not near shops or restaurants.

Nice hotel, with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Walking distance to everywhere,bus stops and restaurants nearby and reasonably cab fares if you are too tired to walk back the hill.
Breakfast is plenty with variety of choices and the staff is friendly and efficient. Room is clean and the bed is comfortable ,you get a free bottle of water in the room everyday and there's even a radio that you can listen to in the bathroom as you get ready in the morning!
It is very quiet ,you can relax by the pool or or on the roof terrace with an amazing view!

Nice hotel, catering especially to English-speaking guests and adults. Rooms were comfortable, clean, and relatively spacious. Our balcony offered a lovely view of the ocean. A substantial breakfast was included. The hotel styles itself somewhat as a \"cruise ship on land,\" with nightly entertainment, spa, on-site tour directors (from TUI/Thomson), etc., and largely succeeds in this endeavor. True to much of this area of Funchal, it sits on a substantial hill, so if you are badly out-of-shape or mobility impaired, getting around may be an issue. Otherwise, you are a <5 minute walk to a \"levada\" walking trail and numerous restaurants, and ~15 minutes walk to shopping and the Lido Promenade. Only real complaint is that the hot tub was more akin to a \"tepid tub,\" but that is small potatoes.

Bring in the New Year in Madeira

We have stayed in numerous hotels for both pleasure and business and can honestly say the hotel staff at Savoy Gardens was amazing. This was our first time visiting Madeira and really had no idea of what to expect. We were not surprised to find the hotel bustling with guests from various countries given the time of year. However, we were surprised at how professional, informative and pleasant all the staff were. They answered our numerous questions patiently. We would happily recommend this hotel to any friend or relative.

Super roof terrace!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here. All staff were welcoming, friendly, professional and very kind. We moved on to a different destination for the rest of our holiday in Madeira and, by mistake, I left behind some jewellery, my perfume and my Radley shopping bag in the desk drawer. I phoned reception in the evening. The following day all the forgotten items had been brought to our second destination by lunch time and given back to me. How's that for service!
We loved the roof terrace sun bathing facility. This includes a choice of styles of sun beds including a canopied double sunbed, and a jacuzzi on a raised platform giving wonderful views out to sea or across Funchal. Also, there is an 'honesty' bar area stocked with drinks, including tea & coffee, packeted nibbles, sandwiches and fresh fruit and lovely seating area in which to enjoy these.
Good choice at buffet style breakfast including English type back bacon 'properly' cooked! We were booked for b&b and chose to eat out in the evening, so unable to comment re dinner, but there seemed to be lots of choice on the menu as well as an additional a la carte facility if guests wanted it.

Solides Hotel, leider wird auf der Website mit einem Whirlpool geworben… diesen gibt es zwar, aber das Wasser war komplett kalt. Grade im Winter wenn auch der normale Pool fast zu kalt ist, finde ich das sehr schade da er echt toll auf dem Dach des Hotels gebaut ist. Das parken ist mit 15€ pro Tag auch echt recht teuer. In den umliegenden Straßen kann man kostenlos parken wenn man Glück hat.

Allgemein ist zu sagen, dass das Hauptgebäude durchaus als \"in die Jahre gekommen\" bezeichnet werden kann. Die Lobby, das Restaurant und wahrscheinlich auch die hier befindlichen Zimmer treffen nicht die gewünschten Standards.
Im Neugebauten Nebengebäude befand sich das von uns gebuchte Deluxe Zimmer, dieses war in tadellosem Zustand: sehr groß, hell, neu eingerichtet mit Regendusche und großem überdachtem Balkon. Anzumerken wäre hier, das die Toilette lediglich über eine nicht schalldichte Schiebetür verfügt (wird nirgends erwähnt).

Die Hotelanlage und Pools sind sehr nett, der Innenpool ist definitiv in der Nebensaison ein Entscheidungskriterum gewesen!

Das Frühstücksbuffet war reichlich, jedoch sind hier keine kulinarischen Highlights zu erwarten. Der Kaffee war schlecht, Essen wie in einer Kantine- alles hatte eher eine \"Allinlcusive Anmutung\". Qualitativ gibt es hier Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten.

Die Parksituation am Hotel war schwierig: der beschriebene Parkplatz war voll, wann erneut ein Platz frei würde konnte nicht gesagt werden. Eine vorab Reservierung war ebenfalls nicht möglich. Zudem gab es hier Unstimmigkeiten beim Preis. Während es beim Check in noch hieß ein Aussenparkplatz würde 9€/Tag kosten, waren es einige Tage später 15€/Tag (den Grund konnte keiner nennen).
Das Personal war freundlich, jedoch nicht zuvorkommend.

Zuletzt Befindet sich aktuell hinter dem Hauptgebäude eine LAUTE GROßBAUSTELLE, welche vorab nicht kommuniziert wurde.

O valor do pequeno almoço achei exagerado para o que nos foi apresentado. De salientar que o café expresso(bica) e o capuccino não estavam incluídos no valor do pequeno e seriam um extra muito caro.
O quarto deixou muito a desejar, as paredes descascadas, as portas riscadas, sem isolamento l.

O melhor deste hotel foi sem dúvida as funcionárias na recepção que nos ajudaram em tudo dentro e fora do Hotel.

O hotel é belíssimo e muito confortável, conta com uma hidromassagem no terraço com uma vista linda. O café da manhã era sempre saboroso e bem servido. A localização era boa considerando que na Madeira os pontos turísticos ficam espalhados pela ilha. Tem restaurantes bons próximo do hotel. O atendimento era muito bom, porém a acessibilidade não era das melhores considerando que para ir ao terraço era necessário subir um lance de escada e para acessar o prédio novo era preciso passar um pequeno lance de escadas da recepção até a piscina externa, apesar de ter recebido ajuda tanto na chegada no hotel quanto na saída com as malas ainda sim caso uma pessoa com deficiência quisesse acessar o terraço ou ir para a piscina externa seria difícil, não era o caso porém seria bom que eles pensassem sobre isso para qualquer imprevisto futuro. Minha estadia foi muito confortável e o hotel oferecia pacotes de passeios pela ilha com saída do hotel (minha dica é que vocês agendem logo que chegarem ao hotel assim conseguem escolher as datas que realmente desejam). Espero poder voltar a Madeira algum dia!

Chambre conforme à ce que nous avions demandé, avec petit balcon vue sur mer. Nous avons apprécié les 2 piscines (extérieur et intérieur) ainsi que le rooftop avec jacuzzi et bar.
Personnel serviable et accueillant.
Le spa et le restaurant Culinarium sont à faire (sur réservation).

L’hotel est à 30min à pied du centre de Funchal mais plusieurs bus sont disponibles dans la zone si besoin.

Seul bémol : pour un 4* on s’attend à avoir des peignoirs dans la chambre. En option payante (8€ /peignoir).

hotel perfeito (à excepção da piscina interior!)

Muito bom. Instalações actualizadas e serviços muito convenientes e de primeira qualidade. Só 4 aspectos a melhorar: acesso à piscina interior pela rua e em frente ao restaurante (pouco discreto e muito frio), devia ser obrigatório o uso de touca na piscina interior, a piscina interior fecha demasiado cedo (7pm) e o piso junto à piscina interior é muito escorregadio (pedra polida que garante em absoluto uma queda aos mais distraídos).

Hyggelig, men med teppegulv.

Ok hotell med fine fasiliteter og hyggelig betjening. Jeg kunne nok ønsket å slippe teppegulv på rommet. Ligger i et rolig område, men likevel i nærheten av mange bra restauranter. Wi-fi var ganske ustabil.

Bom hotel mas vocacionado para séniores

O hotel é bom mas um pouco ultrapassado. O pequeno almoço é muito bom e o serviço tb mas a limpeza do quarto, apesar de boa, tivemos de a solicitar um dia porque parecia que não ia acontecer.

Der erste Eindruck war eher schlecht. Wir haben ein anderes Zimmer erhalten als wir gebucht hatten. Eine Reklamation an der Rezeption half uns ein anderes Zimmer zu bekommen, jedoch erst am nächsten Tag.

Zimmer:
Das neue Zimmer war top, mit einem wunderschönen Ausblick. Sehr positiv empfanden wir, dass man andere Gäste nicht hörte, obwohl das Hotel augenscheinlich ausgebucht war.
Die Zimmerreinigung war ebenfalls vorbildlich. Uns fehlte jedoch eine Minibar. Ein Kühlschrank befand sich im Zimmer, jedoch war dieser nicht befüllt. Sehr schade.

Frühstück:
Die Qualität der angebotenen Speisen war ausgezeichnet. Allerdings war auch hier nicht alles Sonnenschein. So war der Frühstücksraum sehr eng. Die Tische waren daher auch sehr dicht aneinander gestellt. Am Buffet herrschte dichtes Gedränge. Schade war ebenfalls, dass kein \"Early-Bird-Breakfast\" angeboten wurde. Die Zeiten waren von 07:30h bis 10:00h.

Sonstiges:
Auf dem Dach befindet sich eine Bar. Abends hat man von dort einen wunderschönen Blick über die Stadt. Die Abende auf dem Dach haben wir sehr genossen.

Aufgrund einer benachbarten Großbaustelle war keine Erholung im Hotel möglich. Natürlich kann das Hotel nichts dafür und dieser Fakt wurde auch nicht mit in die oben abgegebene Bewertung aufgenommen.
