Very unhelpful and unpleasant front desk staff throughout our stay.

Room was poorly equipped, safe was broken, sliding balcony doors did not close properly, no fridge or basic room amenities.

Overall very disappointing stay. Only positives were the cleaning staff and the breakfast buffet staff (both of which could provide some training to the front desk and evening restaurant staff on customer service).

Horrible hotel. Unfortunately we had to stay here because our flights got canceled. Everything was absolutely disgusting the hotel rooms had bugs we had to switch rooms and the washrooms were gross.

The breakfast was another matter everything was cold and oily there were bugs running across the serving tables. The bread offered was as hard as rock and even the coffee was bad. No point in paying extra for breakfast when this is how it is. Especially with bugs on the serving counters of the buffet.

Please stay away this place is a health hazard.

We were not told of the steepness of the path leading to the hotel, which was difficult for my wife to negotiate.
We were half board but we're not told drinks were not included with our evening meal, not even water. We also were not told whether we could bring our own drinks in, even if it was just water. The staff were not very helpful if you did not want to buy drinks and if I'd known that you could not have brought your own water to dinner I would not have booked this hotel. There was not an all inclusive option available when I booked this hotel so we should have been told that soft drinks would/would not be allowed at dinner Instead of being watched suspiciously by staff whilst eating our meal.
I don't want lots of additional costs to my bill at the end of my stay and don't see why I should pay exorbitant prices for drinks when absolutely no alternative, not even water, is offered. As I said, the hotel should say brought in soft drinks are allowed at dinner or offer at least one free beverage per night, especially when a all inclusive option is not available at the hotel.

This hotel is in a great location and, has a good restaurant which offers a buffet breakfast with a great variety of things.

The rooms are neat and tidy and the views from some of them are spectacular.

I Would recommend for smaller groups, families and or solo travellers.

ATTENTION! Woke up one morning to use the washroom and there was an extremely massive coackroach i dont understand how it even got in if we are in the top floor. On the maps it says estrelicia is the bottom hotel and its not its the top one. You need to walk up a hill almost 100 meters to reach your hotel. The photos is shows when you book your staying are not the same photos because mine looked nothing like the photo's i wish i could post the photos. There is a lot of people that only stayed one night and asked for the money back and found another hotel. We had to clean the washroom when we arrived because it wasnt cleaned properly. The breakfast buffet is nothing special. I will not come back.

Overall the property was pretty poor. The staff were nice enough however facilities were much lacking. The room was spacey but one of the rooms had no fan or air conditioning and so was too hot to sleep in. The location was not very accessible located at the top of a large hill and so getting luggage up was difficult. The hotel was noisy and one of the rooms was located with the window facing inwards towards a wall.

The staff was very helpful and kind. The area was more \"touristy\" than expected. The hotel itself was outdated aside from the restaurants and lobby area. The room did not have ac so it was hot and musty. The bathroom was extremely outdated and did not seem very clean

The hotel is a good cheap option with some pros and cons.

The public areas are modern and well maintained. Swimming pool area and terrace were lovely. Breakfast buffet was well stocked and co sat toy being refreshed. Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the bedrooms and the corridors let the hotel down and need refurbishment and modernisation asap.

Not a very good start when we arrived at the hotel. Queued up with other arriving guests with bags and luggage in tow. Got to the check in desk and the receptionist asked if we flew EasyJet which we had, gave us a key and a card with check out information for the next day. Said they hadn’t been paid and need to send boarding passes to their email address. Tried to explain we were booked for over a week but she was very abrupt and uncooperative and we went to this room which was terrible and definitely not the room we had booked. Met the general manager by coincidence and explained the situation but he was as confused as us. Went out for the afternoon and came back and spoke to the reception manager who explained she had mistaken us for people who work at the airport - clearly. Didn’t check names on ID to the booking system but we were given the room we had booked that evening. Reception manager was furthermore very helpful. That aside, car parking was a challenge on the first day. We asked about the car park but receptionist wasn’t helpful and as a result we failed to prebook and had to park the car a 10 minute walk away. Breakfast always busy, never had bacon and sausage at the same time and sausages are mini hot dogs. Bread rolls stale after a few mornings. Good choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereal and pastries. Breakfast staff friendly. We enjoyed drinks by the pool bar some evenings. Rooms are in need of maintenance and could do with updating.

Very expensive for what this hotel has to offer. The pictures of the listings do not match with the bedrooms. No air conditioner, rooms werent ready at time for our check-in, cables hang around, lack of electric plugs and sink was bloaked. Also no kettle/tea/coffee facilities. And very poorly choice of breakfast buffet.

Excellent hotel for price, exceeding expectations!

I can not leave a bad review for this hotel. Although not the best I’ve stayed in, it is good value for money!

Firstly, this is a late 1980’s built hotel, with few updates other than maintenance. This reflected in the very affordable price. It is clean, not run down, but dated.

Get a room with a balcony & the higher the better. We changed our room from 518 (facing north/west) to 512 (facing south/west) for more sun on the balcony in the late morning, however the rooms were the same, twin beds decent sized wardrobe and shower en-suite. All very clean, but no kettle or fridge. Take a travel kettle & adapter plug!

Staff were excellent & professional, check-in was easy, they ordered taxis and even organised a well priced car rental for us, together with some great sight-seeing advice. (Sunset beach/Maktub Pub).

The buffet Breakfast is absolutely fine and good selection, however can’t recommend the buffet (school?) dinner! Try the Fora d’Oras for an excellent evening meal near the entrance.

The indoor swimming pool (& jacuzzi) is excellent for raining days but can get busy occasionally, the outdoor pool & bar area great for sunny days & sun terraces are good too.

The sea is a 7-10 minute walk down the hill, but be warned, like most of Madeira, the climb back is steep! The area is fine, but don’t bother going up from the hotel. There’s a nice pub showing sports if you turn left, turn right and head down the hill for loads of descent restaurants & shops.

Mixed feelings about this hotel

Staff are very friendly and professional. The hotel needs renovation though. The room was small. No air-condtioning. I had to leave the windows open at night due to the heat, unfortunately it can be noisy at night. Room had no balcony. Tenis court was decent. The gym was good, although access is limited. The area (Lido, Funchal) is great. Breakfast was not good.

Lovely view to wake up to

We just use our hotel as a base so do not spend a lot of time in it.
It was a reasonable hotel for the price. We paid a little extra for a view, this was worth it just to be able to wake up to a lovely sunrise over the bay of Funchal. I certainly don't recommend anyone with walking difficulties should stay here unless you were thinking of hiring a car as the hill up to the hotel is very steep.

the outdoor pool had a nice garden and a nice view, the bathrooms were big and renovated

A disappointment

This was graded as a 3* hotel and is certainly not. It says that rooms were refurbished, the first room we were shown was horrible, old and not clean and nearly underground. We were then offered a much better room on 8th floor, which was clean and re-painted and with a new bathroom. The room was on the small side but that was fine.

Access to the hotel was a bit of a nightmare as our building was on top of a steep hill which at the end of a walking day/levada was a bit of a hurdle... Most other hotels are at the bottom of the Lido.

There was no WI FI in the room; we had to go to the hotel lobby to be able to have a connection.
In the room the TV was at slanted at an angle where we could not see the image properly and the connection stopped every 20 to 30 seconds..

The only meal we had was breakfast and that was of quite poor quality apart from the breads, quince, fruit, cheese. The ham was 'reconstructed ham'! Thank God we ate out every other meals..

All in all we were disappointed - we thought this was a good deal but obviously there was a catch.

Hotel was clean staff pleasant, hot food not good, repetitive and not appetising. All good very repetitive. Room very clean, towels changed every other day, but very small. Windy while we were there and the Windows did not fit properly, so very drafty. Indoor pool nice, gym dated. Outdoor pool and terrace area nice. Food at terrace bar very good and reasonably priced. 500m from the sea, vertically, the drive up to the hotel was especially steep, certainly not suitable for people with mobility problems.

This is the second time I stay at this hotel, staff were so friendly and very helpful.I have a small child, so I did not wanted to stay to high up so they accomodated to an even better and child friendly room, very confortable and clean on second floor where we all felt so welcoming. I definately recomend this hotel, very near to town, you can walk through promenade only takes 15 minutes, where you can enjoy and mesmerize the beautiful nature of Madeira: flowers, exotic trees, the views of the mountains and the sea

We booked this hotel with 3 star in mind but it was a tired hotel all round and certainly in need of redecoration.
The food was not good although the staff were very nice.The breakfast certainly needs to be looked at and the presentation of the evening meal was not very appertising to look at.
The pool was good and clean and the overall cleanliness in the hotel was Ok .
The entertainment although good was very much the same every night.

Experiência pouco agradável.

O hotel é interessante, muito bem localizado para quem não quer comer no hotel.
No recinto existem 3 hotéis do mesmo grupo, aos quais, não estão identificados.
Fui á primeira receção em que apanhei uma funcionária super simpática que me explicou e indicou onde era realmente o hotel onde iria ficar.
Subimos ( uma rampa a pique) para a seguinte receção onde está uma tremenda confusão e fui atendida por 3 funcionários, super desorganizado.
Quando questionei sobre deixar o carro no parque o mesmo é pago 7€ ao dia, quando reservei o hotel, não dizia NADA sobre o parque ser pago e para aquele dia que cheguei não tinha lugar, ou seja, depois de jantar, o carro ficou estacionado quase 2 quarteirões do hotel.
Seguindo, recebemos cartão mais dois vouchers de desconto para o 1 pequeno almoço e 1 jantar (top) e quando chegamos junto ao elevador pois era no 7 andar só existia 1 elevador a funcionar para 11 andares!!! Chegamos a estar 20/30min á espera do elevador.
Quando chegamos ao quarto por duas vezes, o nosso cartão não abria a porta e la nos mudaram o cartão.
As fotografias acolhedoras que mostram na “publicidade” dos quartos não é a realidade, o nosso quarto tinha o chão sujo, o frigorífico com cabelos e a casa de banho, enfim. Não existe AC somente uma ventoinha.
O nosso check-out foi dia 25-10 e até hoje ainda estamos á espera da fatura.
Nisto tudo, a melhor parte do quarto era a vista para o mar.

This hotel is located at the top of a hill, so not for people with bad legs.
It is located in a quiet and peaceful area, so perfect for people who want peace and quiet.
The restaurant by the pool makes nice burgers, sandwiches, etc.
The pool is large enough to swim a few laps.
We enjoyed our 10 day stay, 3-4 of which were spent on the hotel grounds, the rest of the days, we spent on trips around the island.

Staff at the hotel were always helpful and friendly. Check in was available when we arrived late at the night, and also no problem with late check-out.
They helped to get doctors to the hotel because of a medical emergency. In the end it required treatment at the hospital. But it was good to have staff members that made things easier.

The location of the hotel is great. And it is close to several restaurant, cafés, Complexo Balnear do Lido, centrum of Funchal and more. The pool area of the hotel were quite nice.

But I have to be honest and say that in general. The hotel was pretty outdated and it definitely needs some maintenance. And it was a strange smell in the room. Maybe fungus or mold. No AC, and the safe didn't have a lock. And there was no fridge. Perhaps there are some in other rooms 🤔 But I got the impression that other rooms were better. And we got the opportunity to change room so thumbs up for that.

The food was okey, and you had a few things to choose from.

Overall an okey hotel with a good potential to be even better. Staff were great as mentioned. But hotel needs and upgrade and some maintenance. The hotel is fairly cheap to stay at, so if you want to travel on a budget. Or just dont want to spend a lot on a hotel, this will be a good option.

Pire hôtel que je jamais réservé de ma vie je suis arrivé dans le site ça disait stationnement gratuit et stationnement disponible il a fallu qu’on marche pendant 15 minutes et en plus il a une grosse pente pour arriver à l’hôtel vraiment difficile d’accès la chambre était tellement sale l’eau de la douche sortais à l’extérieur je ne recommande jamais cette hôtel à personne vous perdez votre argent réception était méchante N’a jamais de trouver des solutions pour nous il a fallu que hôtels.com les appels et trouver une solution le manger était vraiment dégueulasse honnêtement je suis quelqu’un qui voyage beaucoup et je vais jamais vu quelque chose comme ça difficile d’accès compliqué d’entrée car il a trois hôtel en un Vous pouvez trouver mieux à quelque part d’autre la réception et l’hôtel m’a jamais aidé les important pour eux c’est leur portefeuille et non le service à la clientèle

Nicht zu empfehlen ...

Das Hotel ist in den 70er Jahren stehen geblieben es ist nicht wirklich mal etwas renoviert geworden. Von klappernden Fenster über undichtes Waschbecken bis hin zu sanierungsbedürftigem Gebäude war alles dabei. Und das Frühstück war auch mehr schlecht als recht.

Zimmer in Ordnung, könnte sauberer sein. Neben dem Hotel ist eine Baustelle, die vorab nicht erwähnt wird und sehr laut ist. Frühstücksbuffet nicht zu empfehlen, kaum Abwechslung, geschmacklich nicht gut und für Vegetarier*innen nicht wenig Auswahl.
Service sehr freundlich. Gym gut ausgestattet.

cet hôtel est bien situé dans Funchal mais fait partie d'un groupement de 3 hôtels avec finalement très peu de places de parking ( environ 20 places!) Faut donc de la chance pour pouvoir garer sa voiture chaque soir. Il y a bcp de chambres sur 11 étages alors si vous aimez les hôtels plus familiaux, il n'est pas pour vous. L'avantage est que le personnel parle français. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux. Il y a aussi des animations autour du bar....

Ótimo custo-benefício

Ocorreu tudo bem, os funcionários foram bem atenciosos. O hotel é bem localizado, tem um pequeno almoço ótimo, com boa variedade de alimentos. Aproveitamos a piscina, jacuzzi, sauna. Há também um ginásio, aulas variadas de atividade física e apresentações musicais à noite. Não há internet wifi nos quartos, mas na área comum a internet wifi funciona bem.
