My 2 rooms were on the ground level next to the lobby. It was noisy until late at night. The room, furniture, kitchen and bathroom were all very old. The shower was in a bad shape. The restaurant and dinner buffet had very low quality food for fairly high prices. Much nicer restaurant are all around the hotel with good food and good services. The hotel is located in a great area though.

Some photos of the property untruth. Shows pool with sea view. It's all building around. Limited sun. Property gets flooded with small amount of rain. Lots of maintenance issues, plugs , locks. All drinks even tap water paid for with meals included in price .

Amazing view from room great helpful staff

The hotel is short distance from downtown; walking or by cab. We walked into town and took cabs back. The front desk staff are so helpful. The breakfast buffet is very very good. There is an abundance of places to eat dinner near the hotel. Great little kitchenette area with fridge. If you are a hotel pool person this hotel is great.

Very comfy beds, we had a nice sea view room, shower also powerful. The breakfast buffet excellent lots of choice every day fully stocked the outside pool area very nice indoor pool was ok looking a little sad needs a bit of refresh however my son loved it. Bus stop 2 minutes walk very close to restaurants shop etc I would stay here again as a great base for exploring

Not ideal with building construction or demolition going going on, I came to relax, not have my head pounded by hammers, drills and dust.
Thankfully the reception team took pity on us and transferred us to another.
To have been advised in advance would have bee n a good idea, rather than attempting to sell transfers from the airport!

The property is very well kept and maintained. They have a lot of activities on property's premises. They have a nice pool and fitness room.
Our big surprise was receiving a champagne bottle for our birthays that happen during the stay.
The view from upper floors is astonishing and we realy enjoyed to get themorning coffee on balcony

All good, I used the hotel to explore island and was close to transport routes local buses, tourist buses and quick to get a Bolt cab.
Had cooking facilities in room, so I didn’t have to wait around for breakfast (or get up early on chill days) Sea view from balcony was good.

Check-in at 3:00pm after coming in 11:00am to notify needed parking. Came in 2:45pm to try get car parked in time for 3:00pm. Room was not ready until 3:15pm.

Parking lot is difficult and many unauthorized cars allowed in taking spots of paying customers. Very bad and this ultimately forced me to squeeze into a tight parking last night of trip. Causing damage to car just to get gas. Have not heard back from hotel management 2nd day after reporting in incident..

The location, the recreational amenities and shared events with partner hotels was excellent. The maintenance flaws could not be overcome though. Sparse times when there was hot water. Beds were old, hard and could not be separated.

Great stay, hotel is on a steep hill so maybe not the best for older people. Food was ok, nothing special but kept us filled up for the day. Staff were so lovely and friendly. Towels changed everyday, spotlessley clean and great to have so many facilities on site. Three pools, inner pool, tennis court and spa all included

Location of hotel close to Funchal

Hotel staff very friendly. Ideal location close to Funchal (30 min walk) . Beautiful sites to see along the way.
Plenty of places to eat if you want to outside of hotel.
Hotel needs to make a menu that is more child accommodating.
Highly recommend sight seeing tours around the island.
My kids love this hotel and staff remember them from previous visits

Room was ok for the price but if you can afford a bit better then do. The rooms have no air conditioning and due to the heat it was necessary to keep the door open it got noisy about 3am sho not much sleep the lifts are knackered out and bang and clang as well

Good basic hotel. Saving grace is young girl that works at reception - definitely goes the extra mile ( and in numerous languages!). Unfortunately, construction going on next door from 8am-7pm ...makes sitting on balcony difficult.

This is what we would call a budget hotel. It's a bit tired in terms of decoration but adequate facilities. Friendly staff. We went on b and b tariff. Breakfast was basic self service. A bit more variety in the cooked breakfast would have been appreciated.

Building works alongside which started at 8am till 5.30. Didn't bother us too much as we're out all day.

If folk are on same tariff try La Bamba restaurant just down the road. We ate there every night bar 2. Excellent service and the steak. on stone and spaghetti vesuvian are to die for!!

The hotel is close to many restaurant and there are many local tour around the area, is is very convinient. We can see the sea from the room. However, the hotel is quite old, so the rooms are not the most attractive.

There was a very nice bar to the right of the hotel, belonging to it, which also did good food. There is a nice pool in the hotel and you can borrow a pool towel to use. The room was very quiet and the breakfast very good value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are lots of eating choices nearby and it is well located. It is about a 20 minute walk to town and there are also buses which go into Funchal or take you westwards. We had a lovely sea view. There is a comfortable lounge downstairs and plenty of seating areas. There is free entertainment every night at the top hotel in the group of 3.

Nice hotel/apartment in Funchal

Easy to get to via airport bus. The hotel is a short walk from the bus stop but is quite a hill climb... but then Funchal is all about hills.
Nice reception and staff. We stayed on the 6th floor so lift or stairs. Rooms look like the photos on the web, spacious with small kitchenette and balcony. We paid for part sea view which I'm glad we did. Although we had a small building site to the left we could see the hills of Funchal and the sea. Some of the balconies overlooked the swimming pool or the other hotel so we were glad for the view. Bathroom was ok but needed a new sealant around the bath and shower screen. It didn't bother us as it was functional.

We had bed and breakfast and the breakfast was ok, bit limited on choice but again was ok.

There were 2 outdoor pools and 1 indoor pool which were clean and lovely to sit round. There was a pool bar and drinks were very cheap so was good value.

Staff were lovely and helpful and there were some entertainment on every night.

The hotel was near the outdoor Lido on the promenade a short walk away and was really lovely. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby but not rowdy or noisy. The only problem with noise was from the road nearby but traffic was diverted down the road due to road works.
There was a local supermarket so we could get food in for lunch or dinner as there was a fridge and small cooker/microwave.
I would happily stay there again but the only big problem was no Air conditioning in the bedrooms.

Great cheep break

This hotel is a little dated but the rooms are quite OK for the price.We stayed on the car park side and it was a little noisey at times. Glad we stayed at this hotel and not the sister hotels as it was nearest to the road and you didn't have to walk up the hill. Self catering facilities are basic but we didn't go to cook. Would stay here again.

We got a good deal so were not expecting much. Good location. Hotel was clean and reception staff were friendly. Room had everything you need if basic. Towels were clean and changed daily but rather thin. We paid small supplement for breakfast which was plentiful but eggs and bacon were not good quality. Overall I would go again but only at the right price.

Initial thoughts on arrival were quite pleasing because we found the place!! and the staff were pleasant.On later inspection of the room we found that the shower was not workable due to the push-button switch being locked rock solid.The sink in the bathroom would not let the water out and the fan extractor did not work.The pedal bin was broken and the lid kept falling off.Breakfast was rather monotonously plain with no change to the menu and finding porridge next to the beans was a bit confusing because many people thought that it was badly cooked scrambled egg!!

Have been to this hotel 3 times now, it is not 5* but it's a very good base with lots of ameneties nice little kitchenette in the rooms and some great views from the upper floors the hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the food particularly at breakfast is very good with lots of choice to suit every dietary need. The staff are all pleasant and very helpful, Internet is available in the public areas or you can pay and have Internet connection in your room if you wish, which I did . It's a comfortable walk into the centre taking about 20 minutes ,and a very good bus service back ,bus number 4 . I love this hotel and will be returning if I'm able

Yes, this hotel needs a facelift, but it is excellent value for money. We only stayed for one night, but for that we got a room, buffet hot breakfast, pool and a kitchenette in the room. Lots of good eating places close by. Try the Dragon Tree or Osteria, both on opposite side of road.

A 70's Flasback.

The rooms were clean. Breakfasts were great! The staff at the breakfasts were wonderful! Handy fridge to keep your water bottles, fruit and food cool.
Washrooms good size and great water pressure.
Great little souvenir and snack shop on the lower floor.
Nice pool area to relax.
Lots of restaurants within minutes of walking. Love Antonio's Restaurant!

Regarding the design...Flasback to the 70's!
Felt like we were walking backing into the 70's though. Could use a big revamp. With an update it would improve the overall look. No air conditioning.... We were aware of that.
It was HOT. There were no fans.
The view was beautiful!
No shuttle to downtown as advertised. You will have to take a taxi....to Funchal approx. 8 Euros.
If you are not picky about overall appearance then this place is great for you. The photos on the site must have been taken many years ago,as its age is showing.

Good value and enjoyable stay

Stayed as family at end of May 2016. Hotel is in need of some tidying up (it's not new) but everything in our room worked and room was cleaned every day. Good choices at breakfast, bacon and eggs etc. every day. Good variety of fruit and cold meats rolls etc. coffee from coffee machine is good. Tea bags are very weak.

They have indoor pool, Jacuzzi and a sauna. Outdoor pool was bit cold.

Overall good value.

Arrived at hotel and had to struggle into the building with 2 cases and a double buggy up some stairs leading to reception where there was only 1 staff....received no offer of help. the room wasn't ready so had to wait about 30 mins with 2 babies that needed feeding. When asked if we could have hot water to make baby milk they said they couldn't provide this.
When the room was ready, there was no one to help with the luggage. The 2 single beds pushed together were dipped in the middle. the baby cot provided was dirty...no way would i put my babies in it. the small kitchenette had a horrible odour.

First visit here enjoyed quiet undemanding place lovely food & wine. Walked a lot used a local bus for ride up to villages great views. Also from cable car & ride down in the basket is a great fun. The old & new town has lots of choice of restaurants, cafes & bars but nothing rowdy. Went on boat trip saw dolphins. Generally found people polite & friendly. Went to Reids hotel for afternoon tea - overpriced but enjoyed looking around this historic hotel & beautiful gardens.

We were very pleased with our room, clean and basic,enjoyed our little balcony,sun on it late morning through rest of day,sea view just what we wanted, was able to take room over early ,that was great, 3nice reception staff, only noticed Barbara's name, all very helpfull, able to use the other 2 hotels, happy hour In mimosa was fun,Sergio making cocktails! Lots of places to eat and drink close by,liked fora doras next door, nice pub opposite and one just up road, china town brill Chinese, all close to bouganvillia.,didn't want to leave, would go back, cold out door pool hot indoor pool, jacacuzzi sauna,all good.

Great value for money.

Stayed for a very enjoyable 14 nights. The hotel is very well situated and there is a great range of restaurants all within walking distance. The rooms are well presented and have everything you need to enjoy your stay although they are a little tired and there is no air coditioning, they are kept spotless and in no way detract from the enjoyment of the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpfull.. All in all a very good holiday good value for money and I would return.

Staff very pleasant, recognised us and knew our room number after 1 day. I was holidaying with my daughter and used the hotel as a base for exploring Madeira, and for this the hotel was perfect. The beds were very comfortable and any noise was not intrusive.

We booked a sea view room, but was put in room 3 ground floor, next to car park and near Reception. No view and noisy, apparently only room available at the time. Following several visits to Reception we were moved to 7th floor on the next day. Very good room, no complaints. Speaking to two other couples in the hotel, who had booked through online booking company, they had had a similar experience. A ground floor room until they complained. So be aware that there may be problems at peak times.

Great hotel for couples. Room was exactly what we wanted and the spa facilities were great, including free use of hot tub, sauna and indoor and outdoor pools! Hotel staff were happy to help when asked and the hotel was an easy distance from Funchal centre, either by bus for €1.90 or a pleasant 20 minute walk. Balcony view of the sea was incredible as was the view of Funchal from the rooftop. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Overall this hotel is pretty decent for the price. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful, which is great. Unfortunately they dont really do double beds which we didnt know when we booked, so the bed we were given was uncomfortable and not very easy to sleep on. Also, the buffet breakfast they serve is really bad - we had it one morning and vowed not to again.
The hotel facilities were great - indoor and outdoor pool, jacuzi, spa, gym and sauna and you had access to the facilities in the other 2 Dorisol hotels (3 in the same 'road') too so we made the most of the games room which was really fun.

Had a lovely stay in this hotel, very clean, comfortable room, quite spacious with a spotless bathroom and a nice little kitchenette. Not the height of luxury, no, but a great option for people on a lower budget. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also good with plenty of choice and hot options every morning. Also in a very good location- 20 minutes walk into central Funchal though there is a regular courtesy bus, and just 5 minutes from the sea, supermarkets and lots of eating options. Overall very happy.

Hotel Dorisol Buganvilia, Funchal

The location of the hotel is good - close to the Lido area, and with lots of supermarkets and restaurants in the neighbourhood.
We booked the hotel without breakfast, so we cannot comment on the quality of the food, The kitchenette in the room was fine, and we made our own breakfast in the room. In the evening we usually dined in one of the other restaurants in the area.
The staff of the hotel was excellent. Very polite, helpful and service-minded.
Although the matresses could have been better (especially the iron in one of the beds was very close to the body) and the hotel generally could need some paint here and there, we find that the standard is value for money. It is also a plus point that you can use the facilities in the two other hotels in the chain.

We were promised ocean view by hotels.com but in the first place got a room on 2.floor. But the day after we were moved to 8.floor, and had a wonderful ocean view and afternoon/evening sun. - And special entertainment by some doves, which could not understand that we did not want to feed them. In the end we managed to pursuade them to fly away thoug - until next time!

The hotel has a free shuttle-bus-service to Funchal Centre - except on sundays and holidays, and unfortunately we were there in Easter - But it was very easy - and cheap - to use the local busses, which were just downhill the hotel - as were the Sightseeing busses.

We would not hesitate to book the same hotel again some other time.

Good points - Regular Bus Shuttle to town, Location, Clean room

Points for Improvement - (1) More comfortable beds, (2) No sharp sticking out corner of beds that you hit your legs on as you walk by (3) shower curtains so water doesn't end up all over the bathroom floor, the shower guard is ineffective (4) Breakfast was adequate, but nothing special. I was expecting much more nice fresh fruit. Juices were not nice.

Next door is a another building site for another hotel I guess, Didn't disturb us but might if you are a light sleeper and want a lie in in the morning

Taxi from airport was 38 Euros which was a bit much then we should have paid. recommend getting an airport transfor arranged which cost us 25Euros on the way back

The room was very spacious and had even a kitchenette. There was a balcony overlooking the swimming pool which was very pleasant.
The hotel is very clean and has a great atmosphere, I would definitely go back there.
The only low point was breakfast, a lot of choice but poor quality, especially considering food in Portugal is of a high standard.

The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, and I am very grateful for that. They even allowed me to have a late check-out. The room was spacious, but unfortunately, it had no view — just a view of the parking lot. I absolutely loved the gym and the indoor swimming pool, and I also found the breakfast to be amazing! Overall, I had a great time and would definitely stay again.

Très bien mais un peu loin du centre

Chambre très grande et propre. Literie confortable.
Accueil sympathique.
Le petit déjeuner est bon et vraiment varié.

La chambre a besoin d’une rénovation !

Points positifs : chambre très propre, matelas confortable, serviettes de toilette de qualité, kitchenette, balcon, bon petit-déjeuner, jacuzzi au top. Pas de vue mer : nous étions au 2ème étage : un toit cachait la vue. Dommage que la piscine intérieure ne soit pas suffisamment chauffée.
Beaucoup de restaurants à proximité.
Nous avons utilisé l’application bolt pour les transferts aéroport et nous déplacer sur l’île.
Notre vol partant tôt le matin, on a pu prendre notre petit-déjeuner très tôt en prévenant la réception la veille. Séjour agréable !

Je ne suis absolument pas contente de mon séjour dans cet hotel ! Nous avons trouvé plusieurs cafard dans notre chambre, je prends plusieurs photo et je me dirige vers l’accueil. Un monsieur me réponds qu’il va appeler quelqu’un. 45min… toujours rien. Je descend à nouveau pour relancer. Une personne passe après quasiment une heure pour ramasser un seul cafard et le mettre dans la poubelle commune de l’hôtel !!!!!! Comment vous dire que niveau hygiène c’est 0 !! On m’explique que les autres sont en dessous du réfrigérateur donc il va mettre du spray. Je leurs demande une nouvelle chambre car il était inimaginable de dormir dans la même chambre, on m’a dit que c’était pas possible !! Puis au bout de 10 min ils ont décidés de nous mètre au RC ! Die Unterkunft war okay, die Matratzen waren gut und das Personal freundlich, leider war die nicht besonders sauber, recht alt, keine Klimaanlage und sehr sehr laut.

Ohne Klimaanlage konnte man mit geschlossenen Fenstern nicht schlafen (Reisezeit August, ca 30-32•), aber mit offenen ging es wegen der Lautstärke nicht. Schade. Das ist vermutlich ein Party-Viertel, wir haben es nicht gewusst.

The hotel is central located near bars and clubs. Small supermarkets are also nearby. Clean room and good housekeeping.
The breakfast was chaotic, no glasses, plates or cups because they still has to wash them. No basic breakfast or solution was given for people who had to leave early.
We also had dinner at the hotel. The warm food, especially the meat and fish, was terribly dry and overcoocked. We only took the 'fresh' salades.
Small scrimps hidden is salades without mentioning it on the foodcards. 1 bottle of tap water of 0,75L costs 3 euro!!!!!!
No airconditioning in the room.

Super séjour dans l'hôtel. La demi-pension est très bien, les repas sont variés. Les deux piscines avec le jacuzzi correspondent à la description. Salle de sport aussi. Rien à redire sur l'hôtel.
En revanche, service de transports complexes à Madère donc prévoir une location de voiture pour visiter

Das Hotel liegt in zweiter Reihe am Hang. Parkplatz kostet 7€ am Tag. Wenn man mit dem Auto unterwegs ist, ist es billiger, einen Parkschein zu ziehen, da von 20 Uhr bis 8 Uhr kostenfrei geparkt werden kann.
Das Hotel ist sehr sauber, Zimmer groß und zweckmäßig ausgestattet.
In der Anlage gibt es innen und außen Pool, Fitness, Sauna, Tennis, Sonnenterrasse, Musikzimmer, Bar.
Jeden Abend wird Unterhaltung geboten.
Frühstück Buffet ist reichhaltig und abwechslungsreich. Auch Soja- und Hafermilch zur Auswahl. Das Personal flink und freundlich. Abendessen gute Qualität mit landestypischen Speisen, zwei Fischgerichte, ein Fleisch, ein vegetarisch.
An der Rezeption sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
In der Umgebung mehrere Bars und Restaurants. Die Bushaltestelle ist 5 Min. zu Fuß entfernt. Für 2€ ist man in 10 Min. Fahrt im Zentrum.
Preis-Leistung ist sehr gut, wir können es empfehlen.

Larm

Hotellet har 12 etager og under vores ophold virkede elevatoren ikke. Så er der langt til 8 sal med kufferter. Derudover er hotellet MEGET lydt. Så når overboen gik på toilettet kunne det høret. Det sammen med kufferter med hjul osv larm var der. Og så var køleskabet i rummet med kompressorer som larmede helt vildt.

L’hébergement est bien. Petit bémol c’est Juste que il n’y a aucun isolation sonore entre les chambres.

Gutes Frühstück, tolle Lage wir hatten ein Meerblick Apartment mit wunderschönen Blick vom Bett aus konnte man auf das Meer schauen einfach super das Mobilar ist sehr abgewohnt aber für den kleinen Preis darf man auch keine großen Ansprüche haben das war Uns klar

Trevlig och tillmötesgående personal! Mycket fin trädgård och pooler. Ganska slitet hotell. EN knappt fungerande hiss. Kylskåpsdörren gick inte att stänga o lägenhetsdörren flög upp om balkongdörren var öppen, den var även svår att låsa. Takfläkten märktes knappt.

No check-in tivemos logo um problema - tínhamos feito reserva com pequeno almoço incluído e a recepcionista dizia que não.
O quarto com instalações já antigas, verte água pelo bidé ficando assim inutilizável. Várias baratas aparecerem à noite pela canalização da banheira. Num clima quente e tropical como o da Madeira um ar condicionado faz imensa falta. A ventoínha disponível no quarto não era suficiente para o nosso conforto. O pequeno almoço era muito variado mas sem qualidade. As panquecas eram secas e o bacon era de terrível qualidade.

Le séjour s’est bien passé . Mais très mal isolé. Nous étions dans une chambre collée à l’accueil. Accueil 24/24 mais les employés ne savent pas se taire la nuit. Nous avons eu affaire à deux agents d’accueil qui ont parlé toute la nuit en virant en rigolant … ce n’était pas reposant. Avec tout le monde qui passe devant la porte et qui crie…
Le ménage était impeccable ! Merci encore pour ça. Nous avons voyagé avec un bebe et le personnel était aux petits soins. Pas d’accès handicapé donc obligé de porter la poussette

Situé près des transports en commun, pratique pour se rendre dans le centre par la ligne verte (ou 30 min de marche). Le petit déjeuner est très correct avec un personnel particulièrement gentil et efficace. La chambre est spacieuse mais difficile de faire une grasse matinée. C’est très bruyant, les portes claquent, on entend les clients parler. En ce qui concerne les services normalement disponibles, Le jacuzzi et le sauna sont fermés et impossible d’obtenir une session de massage. A la réception aucun moyen d’être mis en lien avec un taxi, on se débrouille par nous-mêmes. Bref, l’hôtel est correct mais sans plus.

Hôtel proche de toutes commodités. Propre, repas très bien, personnel sympathique.
Dommage que la piscine extérieure ne soit pas chauffée, que le bar du côté Buganvilia ne soit pas ouvert le soir. Système de barrière pas au point pour la sortie du parking.
Bonne situation et très bien dans l'ensemble, surtout pour le prix

Aparthotel ze znakomitym widokiem na ocean i miasto. Smaczne śniadania i bardzo miła obsługa. Bardzo czysty aneks kuchenny ze wszystkimi potrzebnymi naczyniami.
