We have stayed here many times. The front desk staff always remember us. They are very friendly and helpful. The garden view room we stayed in this time was very spacious and quiet. The hotel is in an excellent location with lots of restaurant choices nearby and now the Madeira Museum of Modern Art just around the corner with many musical performances.

The room was spotless; however we found the beds to be very hard, and the pillows were old and worn out. We had expected to see decent shampoos and conditioner in the bathroom. The staff was mostly courteous.
The coffee at the breakfast tasted like instant coffee; sub par.

The staff were excellent. The room large with two terraces facing in different directions . One overlooked the pool and had a table and chairs but the other was a perfect spot for the New Year fireworks . I slept extremely well. Breakfast buffet had a large fresh choice and chef who cooked to order . Highly recommend

My sister and I had a large room & bathroom in the new wing of the hotel. We thought the hotel was modern & spacious. The staff were very understanding and supportive when we had to cut our stay short by a day as my mum had taken unwell at home. We used the public buses to take us into the town centre & there was a great Italian restaurant round the corner called Stella D'ora

We loved everything about this hotel — the cleanliness, location, pool area, and evening entertainment — so much that we’re already considering coming back in a few months. The two young women working at the reception are wonderful: very helpful, friendly, and truly professional.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the gentleman working some of the day shifts, who always seemed annoyed when we asked him something. He could definitely learn from his younger colleagues and benefit from some additional customer service training.

Loved the location, cleanliness and vibe of the hotel with fantastic pools and all staff were great.
Only downside was limited parking and I was only able to get a space at the hotel on 1 of 5 days, all other days I had to search for on street parking around 500m away from the hotel. Not ideal but aware there isn’t much can be done about it due to the central location.

Rooms were kept clean by friendly staff and public areas were too. One gripe was the little gym room where the running machines are were not working as well as no air conditioning and it was quite inadequate for such a big hotel and very disappointing . The food was ok at breakfast as lots of choice and the staff work really hard keeping tables cleared etc. The outside pool and sun beds were clean and usable at all times . I was on 6th floor with a sea view but the noise from the main road below was loud and for that reason I wouldn't stay there again as the patio doors didn't keep noise out and I only managed to sleep after 1.00am till noise started again at 6.00 am .

Had an amazing stay at this hotel! I particularly loved my room - I had a superior room which was very big and spacious and had a balcony with such an incredible view. I also loved the swimming pool (both indoor and outdoor). The reception staff were super friendly who made me feel happy and welcomed. A particular shout out to Katerina at the reception desk who showed me such great hospitality. I’d definitely stay here again.

A lovely short stay at Enotel Magnolia. Our room was upgraded which was a nice surprise. The room was very spacious and comfortable and patio doors opened onto the garden and pool. The pool was lovely. There was a great selection of food for breakfast and the staff very helpful with our gluten free needs. The hotel is situated near a variety of restaurants and bars so a good location.

Check-in was very easy and it was a 20 minute ride from the airport. The breakfast buffet had all kinds of food available and I never went hungry. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a pretty good location. There are dining options within a ten minute walk and a small grocery store (SPAR) that is also a ten minute walk in case you forgot something.

A really nice hotel situated just outside Funchal's city center, which you can access by leisurely walking into town for 20 to 30 minutes. The room was so spacious and comfortable to stay in. The TV has modern features letting me cast my phone to watch what I wanted to. The room also came with robes and pool towels that could be replaced. The hotel itself has some great amenities like a pool and spa area which was so needed after a day of hiking. Breakfast was super solid. I am taking one star off for the following reasons. 1) Parking is extremely limited on property. I've heard of some guests having to park off property. Luckily I did not encounter this issue as I got back to the hotel by 3pm each day and would walk into town for dinner. 2) my rooms thermostat was very weird like it was on a schedule (like one I have at home). Despite setting the temp to around 22 to 23, it would reset to 24 to 25 degrees at night and i would wake up feeling hot and have to turn down the temp. I tried to address this twice with the front desk who seemingly took notes on this and tried to relay this to their staff, this issue was never fully addressed with me nor resolved. 3) not a fault of the hotel, but something to be mindful of is that some cars like to zoom past in the middle of the night making a lot of noise. I happened to be facing south and would hear cars speed down the main road in mid night. If you are sensitive to noise, make sure you have some good earplugs.

I had a great stay at Enotel Magnolia!
The bed was extremely comfortable — every night’s sleep was restful. I also liked that the bins were separated for recycling, which made being eco-friendly easy. The spa facilities were excellent, especially the indoor pool, steam room, and sauna, which was a bit tucked away but perfect for unwinding. Staff throughout the hotel were lovely and very helpful.

Breakfast was another highlight, with a wide, healthy variety including plenty of fruits, gluten-free, and lactose-free options, which was great to see included.

The only downside to my stay was how my birthday was handled. I had informed the hotel in advance, but there was no acknowledgment or even a simple \"happy birthday,\" which was disappointing. Small gestures make a big difference in hospitality, especially on special occasions. I had seen other reviews mentioning thoughtful birthday surprises at this hotel, so it felt even more noticeable that nothing was done in my case, which sadly took away from the excitement of the day.

Overall, a very good stay, but the missed birthday gesture did leave a sour note.

I enjoyed my time very much here. I loved that there was parking but depending on the time day of you came back it was often full (only fits about 17 cars), and you had to get creative with parking elsewhere (5 creative spots). If all the creative spots were gone then you would have to park ten minutes away, which luckily didn’t happen to us in early April 2025. I would imagine during high season parking would be very difficult, so don’t stay out too late with your car!!

The location was not too far off the highway and offered day tours and hiking tours at reasonable prices on various days of the week.

Their indoor pool is NOT INDOOR. It is only covered and is open to the elements, I actually think the indoor pool is colder than the outdoor pool because it is not warmed up by the sun. We used the steam room and dry sauna which was nice but they close early at 7pm which should be open later as people could use it after a long day of hiking! It was relaxing the one time we used it, the second time we just sat in the residual heat.

Breakfast buffet is great and has many options, the perfect fuel for exploring the island!!

One thing I would say I found annoying is that I often went to the front desk to ask questions and half the time no one would even be there and there is no bell to ring so I would say the service staff were not super helpful at this hotel.

Honestly, I thought this hotel was great.

I enjoyed my room: clean, with a great shower and it had the benefit of a fridge and a balcony with sea-view. The daily room service was also appreciated.

The hotel's team members were friendly and efficient.

It had a decent in-house restaurant, but there was also the option of walking for no longer than 10 minutes to get to other restaurants.

Good sized pool(s) with plenty of seating.

We had some last minute travel difficulty and since we had booked through Expedia, we were stuck paying for the night we missed. Neither Expedia nor the hotel would work with us on that. Understandable because we had missed the window, but we had hoped for more forgiving service given our circumstances. The staff at the front desk was hit or miss. Our first encounter at check in was lovely, but then subsequent interactions and a phone call or two were a bit short. One time I went down with a question and the frontdesk was unmanned with no staff in sight for several minutes so I left.

The room itself was quiet and clean except for the shower which was poorly designed and absolutely flooded the bathroom and into the rest of the room meaning we had to pile towels on the floor to soak up the water which is gross and unsanitary.

This hotel was amazing! The location was great, staff was friendly, the breakfast buffet was really enjoyable, and overall a great hotel. The room I stayed in had an amazing corner view with views toward Funchal, the mountains, and the ocean. The room was very large and comfortable. Even though I did not get to enjoy it, there was also live music in the hotel’s bar area and two pools which looked very lovely. I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I am in Madeira!

Hotel was very nice. We had a great corner room with large opening windows so felt as though we were outside. Had view of mountains and of the ocean. It was also very large by any standard. It is not ocean front, but that is not so important as there is no beach in Funchal and our room had an ocean view.
Only slightly negative observation was lack of things one usually sees in hotels e.g. no water bottles, no lotion..But that slight defect was overwhelmed by the quality of the room.

The staff were amazing, helpful, friendly and genuine, breakfast was delicious with so much choice. The pool was really relaxing with jacuzzi option integrated. The gym equipment probably needs updating in the near future but we happily used it. The entertainment was very nice, top quality and varied. I think the only thing I would have liked would be to get the room floor moped everyday as I noticed dirt and dust from unpacking and coming in with shoes the day before, I felt I couldn’t walk barefoot, just a small detail. Drinks are expensive at the bar as expected. Parking arrangement was great, free and available every time, first come first serve basis. Towels were changed everyday and the linen was changed once while we were there. We would definitely stay there again, in fact we are in the near future.

Enotel Magnolia in Funchal does it right!

Great hotel with very friendly staff. I made request ahead of time and they were able to accommodate me. Thanks. Also I got early check in as the room was ready. Beautiful grounds with outdoor pool large patio and big heated pool/hot tub. Top floor terrace with 360 views of the surrounding area. Really one does not want to leave. One issue is the noise from the street level especially if there is a loud motorcycle passing. Overall minor issue. I would also appreciate maybe coffee tea making machine in the lobby as there is no kettle in the room. I like to drink hot water and going to the bar each time is not convenient. The room has a safe mini fridge that actually works and personalized message on tv upon your arrival. I thought it was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend that hotel. Also worth mentioning the airport bus stop is just on the other side of the street. 5 euros per person will take you to the airport. Easy and convenient. Bus stop #12 of the aeroport transport line.

Very bad air conditioning systems and hot in room

Hotel was nice and clean with bigger room then usually have other hotels.
But hotel rooms have very bad air conditioning systems, in room is very hot and there is no option to change A/C temperature at all.
And we have very bad experience with one waiter which we reported to hotel reception, he was very stressful and rude and his behavior was like he is some boss of the hotel with his own rules about small details in breakfast and dining area.

We had an enjoyable seven night stay at this hotel, we got a room with a nice balcony on the fourth floor overlooking the ocean, the room was fine and had all you would expect, one thing missing was a kettle but that was rectified quickly after asking if we would be able to get one, breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of cereals, fruit, various breads and buns and a choice of cooked foods, coffee was good and plenty juice, the hotel is about a 20 minute walk into central Funchal or you can hop on a bus, the hotel will also sort out airport transfers for you for about 35 Euros in a taxi, there was lots of other things we never got around to using like a couple of swimming pools and a sauna

The location for us was ideal between Funchal and Lido. Breakfast had loads of choices and the hotel had a lot of facilities to use if you wish. My only slight compliant would be the pillows wasn’t great on the bed and the air-con wasn’t as cool as i would like however these are minor.
