Classic room was clean, but the shower was quite small. Air Conditioning was turned off, except for hotel rooms with a view of the ocean according to the staff. If staying in this hotel would recommend more updated room with an ocean view. Would’ve given 3.5 stars if that was an option.

The room was beyond what pictures could describe, incredible would be putting it lightly. The staff was also so pleasant to speak with and very helpful as well. The included breakfast was a huge help in being in a country that neither my wife or I had visited which was a nice way to ensure we started the days off right.

We stayed for our honeymoon in Madeira and loved it! The spa amenities, daily breakfast buffet and of course the views were incredible. We rented a car from the front desk and that process was SO easy and seamless. Parking was free and easy. This was the perfect spot for us to easily get on the highways and explore the island of Madeira each day. My husband and I are truly so pleased

What can I say? This property was 10 out of 10 coming from New York we loved everything about it with the balcony facing room of the water. Staff were super friendly. Food was good when everything in the area was closed down and my massage with Maria was out of this world book your spot ahead of time because it sells out very quickly. The only downside is that we were put into an accessible room when we didn’t need it so the toilet and shower were not very comfortable.

The hotel had lovely decor and the public areas were always clean. The breakfast and dinner buffet was exceptional: a great choice and high quality foods. The room was very comfortable, and quiet at night. The staff were friendly and helpful. Wifi was good throughout. The pool bar served lovely drinks at a reasonable price. My only negative comment would be that the room surfaces and floors were a little dusty even after the room had been cleaned. Everything else was excellent and I would stay here again.

I didn't like that it was not walkable for someone with arthritis. We couldn't make a reservation for the rooftop dining experience, so had limited food options. Although, the buffet food was very good. The fruit left as a welcome gift should have been refreshed. Also, the pool area needs to be updated with new cushions, the existing ones were very soiled. Lidia was very warm and welcoming.

A Decent Stay with Some Unfortunate Oversights

My partner and I stayed at The Views Baía Hotel from Saturday, 10 May to Thursday, 15 May, and while the hotel had several positive aspects, a number of avoidable shortcomings prevented our experience from being truly memorable. Unfortunately, our stay got off to a poor start. Upon arriving, we were greeted with a blunt “Passports” from the front desk staff, with little to no further conversation apart from a brief mention of the visitor tax and the optional no-cleaning policy. I had to prompt questions regarding things like hotel parking, and overall, the interaction felt cold and transactional. A smile or even a “welcome” after a long day of travel would have gone a long way. Sadly, the check-out experience was almost identical—no inquiry about our stay or any farewell, just a bill and a goodbye. There were a few puzzling service moments during our stay. When we asked for an iron and ironing board, we were told that a single iron was available—but only in a service room on the 3rd floor of this 11-floor hotel, and it couldn't be brought to the room. Another odd instance involved a staff member knocking repeatedly just to hand over a single wrapped chocolate—nice idea, but a little overbearing in delivery. The Views Baía has potential—it’s well-situated, the facilities are modern, and the “no cleaning” discount was a unique perk. However, the lack of warmth in service, combined with a few service and comfort issues, kept this from being the relaxing and special stay. 3/5

Fabulous adults only hotel.
Super friendly with a green eco approach with cleaning the rooms, towels etc.
We enjoyed buffet breakfast style restaurant with menu options too.
The Michelin restaurant Desarma was the best experience, we added the wine flight to complete a special Birthday for my partner. It was a tad Nicer than The William restaurant at the Belmond Hotel.
My score 4 stars for cleaning only because the windows were bit dirty and the floor around the windows where the tables are was quite dusty.
Easy to walk down to town although up hill coming back, but do able.
Taxis plentiful everywhere.

A great 3 night stay.
We loved the location - super views but very easy to walk into the town to explore! We were able to park our car on site too which was a real bonus.

Our room was clean comfortable and we had a lovely view of the port.

We enjoyed the pool and terrace on our last day.
One suggestion and that's for more information to be given on the Spa facilities. We thought they were great but sadly only found out about them at the very end of our stay.

I have to mention the breakfast buffet. It was amazing. So much choice, catering for all tastes with great staff too

If we returned to Funchal we would definitely stay here.

Can’t recommend enough - the location is fantastic (despite the uphill walk on the way back from town) for visiting, the rooms are super spacious and clean, the breakfast has a good range of options and price wise it’s such good value for money.
Above all though, the staff genuinely care and will go above and beyond to help - I want to give a special shout out to “Andreia” who really helped my family and I out on several occasions, it seems she works all hours because she’s always at the desk!
I hope she sees this because she was truly wonderful at her job and didn’t care we asked so many questions!
No need to look elsewhere, you can book this hotel and I promise you’ll be pleased.

Room was not that clean when we arrived. Hotels.com said the hotel had a VIP facility for gold status. I emailed hotel prior to arrival to confirm this. They said they did not offer this

The quality of this hotel was superb, better than the 5* we stayed in previously. The spa facilities are immaculate (heated indoor pool, sauna, steam room, ice bucket, four seasons shower etc.) – the only thing is it can get quite slippery due to the tiling so recommend wearing slippers/sea shoes. Breakfast was nice. We had the buffet one night and it was also good. Free shuttle service to Funchal seafront included. We plan to return!

Not what it claims to be, huge disappointment

Unfortunately this was a disappointment.
The staff especially on reception and assistant manager was quite frankly rude with conflicting information.
It claimed its adults only, but there was many groups of teenagers staying there. Plus again allowing people to smoke when they say its smoke free.

Great location, bc it close to everything. There's a trail from the hotel that leads down into the town. Clean room, balcony isn't that big but I didn't spend much time in my room. So it wasn't a deal breaker. I took a star away bc there are no irons in the room. Staff told me there is a room to iron your clothes on the 3rd floor. That's an inconvenience and kind of weird for me. The food was good and fresh, and there was an assortment to choose from. Overall I'd go back again.

We had a lovely stay at The Views Bai hotel. We had a deluxe Mountain View suite which was great, champagne and treats on arrival, great room amenities, two loos, large shower with stunning views, lovely comfy balcony, mini kitchen with smeg coffee machine and comfy super king bed with great aircon. Also, money off spa and all food and drink and also special tables and service at breakfast. We loved it!

The hotel is in a quiet location, easy to catch cheap taxis (we used Bolt which was cheap and plentiful) or walk into Funchal. Great views with a banana and mango tree outside!

Staff on the whole really friendly and helpful.

A few niggly things… we selected our room to be cleaned every day (you decide on arrival and if you don’t have a clean they deduct €3 pd from your bill). But cleaning, making bed, towel changes were very hit and miss, half the week our bed wasn’t made. One day it hadn’t been cleaned at all, which once phoned was rectified immediately. Not a major issue and we did inform the hotel.

Also we didn’t really enjoy the cocktail bar as each day they had entertainment which was loud (so hard to talk) and I think though talented musicians were catering for the much older crowd…chilled/lounge music DJs would be good.. due to the hotels varied age groups..

I used the spa which was nice, I had a great massage but very weak facial. Gym was quite small but decent equipment!

Overall we loved Madeira and would return to the hotel and would recommend!

Literally perfect in every single way, super clean, rooms were really spacious and so many great restaurants all walking distance away. Only complaint was parking/driving into the hotel premises. Parking fills up fast and trying to figure out how to get into the lot is a whole ordeal but this should not steer you away from booking. Highly recommend!

Hotel is situated within walking distance from Funchal city centre. Be aware that it is on a hill with quite a steep incline.
Great amenities - indoor and outdoor pool, spa, gym, tennis court and pool table. Great restaurant with amazing food.
Very helpful and polite staff.

Views are terrific. Could use a moderately priced restaurant in the evenings in lieu of the buffet at night or along with the buffet. A coffee type cafe. Wish the shuttle to Funchal ran more regularly throughout the day and early evenings especially back from Funchal up the hill. Enjoyed the shuttle amenity. Pool could stay open until 10:00 pm. for use. Lovely and comfortable rooms. Friendly staff.

I was disappointed with my stay. Staff were nice. But a few things were unacceptable. The main one being that everytime cleaning would happen, room service stuff wouldn't be cleared away. So I got food smells.

No do not disturb sign in my room until last day. No dressing gown but everyone else had one. When room service arrived, no salt, pepper or basic sauces given. Bus timetable I was given said no weekend service but then I later found out there was a weekend bus service.

The 5.00 charge to use the spa when staying at hotel isn't fair. Sauna broken. The towel system of paying 1.00 for a new towel is very unhygienic. The jacuzzi and pool were cold! So not enjoyable

The hotel is simply amazing. We had a deluxe room on a high floor with a gorgeous view, amazing bathroom and lovely extras like chocolates and Madeira wine. The staff were polite and friendly and the indoor pool and spa facilities were top notch and immaculately clean. The outdoor pool area and bar is also amazing but the weather for us made the indoor one more appealing. It’s 15 mins walk away into the main part of Funchal and with steep incline could be difficult for some but we used it as a bit of fitness after food !!. All in all, a great hotel in a convenient location with all the facilities you could want.
