Pestana CR7 Funchal is a fantastic place to stay in Madeira. The central location makes it easy to explore the city, and the views over the harbour - especially watching the cruise ships come and go - are excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast is delicious with a great variety to choose from. Honestly, what’s not to like?

Hotel was very run down, the room didn't feel very clean. When going in and out of the hotel the staff don't greet you. At the bar it takes over 15 minutes for them to acknowledge you. The only friendly staff were some of the cleaners who greeted you when you walked past. We stayed for 4 nights and 2 of those nights we couldn't use the roof terrace as they had private parties. There is loud music playing all night until around 2am coming from the front of the hotel every day. The beds are very uncomfortable they wobble even if you just lean on it. We had breakfast included in our stay however the food and layout of it looked extremely unappetising. After researching about the hotel and everywhere saying that you get free entry to the museu.
That is infact not true and you do have to pay. Overall very disappointed in this hotel. Considering that all other cr7 hotels look beautiful and well looked after. And the one that is in Ronaldo's home is the worst of them all. Unfortunately its the worse hotel i have ever stayed in.

Beautiful: great location but a bit loud

As a former GM of a few hotels. I will say it was an enjoyable stay. The design of the property with all its natural light and views is amazing: the breakfast was impressive with such great variety with both cold and warm foods. The coffee machine/area could use signage staying the pods are in the drawer below. The portion size of the wine was so minimal I had to send it back to increase the volume to 6oz. The room was very clean. Housekeeping was wonderful. The room is not lit well with only one small overhead light at the entrance. My room was 104. It was basically next to the outdoor pool and bar area. Every night ( 4 in total) the music/party was loud and difficult to sleep. I did not ask to be moved, but probably should have had. Again, overall an excellent stay. I want to recognize both Marcus and Hugo for their excellent service. Marcus, who checked me in was kind, thoughtful and took time to inform me of an excellent seafood restaurant:

The dirty shag green carpet in the hallways was very dated. Bed sheets as too hard and no soft mattress pad. Very cheap furnishings and toiletries. Not even a lotion in the bathroom.

CR stands for ?

Hotel has a style , location is amazing , but be ready to \"fight\" the cruise ship crowds , it's never ending . I actually enjoyed the city view with a grassy balcony vs facing the cruise ship balconies of the \"sea view\" . Breakfast was plentiful, service was amazing. The hotel was great. Good location. Clean rooms.
However, the hotel is right on the harbor where the cruise ships come in. There was a lot of loud horns at night and in the morning.
Also, the hotel had a DJ on the pool deck Saturday night when we stayed. The bass thumped in our room till 2:30 AM. Then people continue to party until approximately 5 AM.
We didn’t get a wink of sleep that night.
When we brought this up to the front desk staff, she dismissed it. There was no apologies or any concern for the inconvenience .

This hotel is nice and unique. The service staff is very nice however we had a poor experience with reception where one staff member in particular had a bad attitude with nearly every interaction. The hotel is clean and walkable to downtown but after staying on the southwestern side of the island at a different hotel for a similar price, I would seek out other options in the future.

The service provided is super friendly and super helpful. Hugo the Manager is such a class act, nothing is too much trouble for him or his staff. Special Mention also to Gorati who ran the show in terms of the Dining, Bar and Breakfast set up. A Beautiful personable lady who made our experience so welcoming. We cannot wait to return in 2025. Its been 7 years prior to this week since we last visited, we will be coming back for sure.

A great long weekend break

A short break booked at the last minute, we found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful and hotel is ideally located to Funchal centre. The breakfast offering was great with very good selection of food to choose from.
The only thing I would say was that the bed was a little too firm for both my wife and I, this is obviously a personal thing. Overall a great stay and I would recommend to friends and family.

Although the hotel boasts a fantastic staff and an excellent location, our experience was marred by several issues. The noise levels in the hotel were exceptionally high, compounded by a nearby nightclub blaring loud music until 8am every Friday and Saturday. Additionally, there was ongoing construction beneath our room throughout our stay, which proved to be highly disruptive. Our room felt rather dim, to the extent that we needed a flashlight to navigate the obscured wardrobe. While the pool seemed inviting, it unfortunately served as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Moreover, the pool bar service was practically non-existent, prompting most guests to venture downstairs for a drink due to the lack of service. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone.”

The a/c didn’t work, clogged bathroom sink, door going to balcony broken, glass next to door spiderwebbed, had to move to a second room because we couldn’t get into our first room, had to repack to move, send hotel director an email since there is no site manager and he never responded.

It was a good stay overall. However the lighting in the room was awful. It’s not enough light to do anything. We have to use flashlights to pack our bags. I emailed the hotel a few times before landing to ask about airport shuttles but never got a response. Breakfast was the same things everyday…not the best. They should be a water station that guests can use for water without being charged. The staff was very friendly and nice!!

I had a few issues with my booking where Expedia over charged me, but Expedia Customer Service are absolutely awful and do not care about quality customer service, that is based on my experience so far! This has still not been resolved due to Expedia's poor service.

Whereas the CR7 hotel experience was fantastic! The staff at reception and in the restaurant were fantastic & extremely helpful! Breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner was great! The facilities at the hotel were great with a nice roof top pool, sauna, jaccuzi and outdoor gym! The location is great and 15-20min to walk to the old town.

It’s a good experience. However the back door of my room didn't lock (was broken), had to wait for someone to fix it. The room was very dark with only blue light under the bed and over the curtain to guid you. Would be perfect for a honeymoon instead of a holiday stay hotel. In my bathroom was a fake “camera” on the top corner of the wall. Made us uncomfortable. The curtains are so high we couldn’t reach to close it properly. The air con wasn’t really working.

We stayed for 4 nights and had a great stay. The staff was amazing and answered all of our questions. Breakfast in the morning had lots of options and was nice to have the restaurant in the lobby for a quick bite during the day.
Parking was technically ‘off site’ but was under the hotel and the elevators access the hotel.
Rooms were basic but spacious. Bed firm, rooms quiet, and cleaned daily. Our ocean facing view was occasionally blocked by the cruise ships docking (knew this prior due to other reviews).
Only a few minutes away from the old town and tons of restaurants near by.

Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and paid for a superior room. We were a bit underwhelmed and didn't think the hotel was 4 star standard - more like a 3 star hotel. The rooms were quirky and clean so no real problem there.
However, cruise ships blocked the ocean view which for us was very disappointing, we had paid the extra money for the view and not to look straight at a ship! We did express our disappointment on departure and would not stay here again.

Fabulous family holiday

The hotel is in a fantastic location and the staff are really superb. They were so helpful and seemed to know everything. The food was excellent- lots of choice for breakfast and the lunch is great value. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the rooftop facilities were very nice and we made the most of those. We would not hesitate to return here. There can be some noise from the cruise ships anchored very close by would be the only downside.

The CR7 Pestana hotel is located by the Marina in Funchal within walking distances to various points of interest. It’s a small hotel with a rooftop infinity pool that’s situated right above the CR7 museum. The complimentary breakfast had a varying selection and the staff was amazing. My only complaint would be that in the times we used the pool there wasn’t a bartender behind the bar. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning to further explore the truly beautiful island of Madeira.

This is a fairly new hotel situated right on the quay, a great location close to the old town for bars and restaurants and just a short walk from the Aerobus stop. Hotel Accommodation was spotless our room overlooked the quay with great views of the cruise ships coming and going. The bar and restaurant was great and the breakfast was excellent value. Staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I returned to Funchal.

Hotel is in a great location just a short walk from the centre of Funchal. Room was comfortable and breakfast, which was included in the rate, was excellent. My only issue was that I had requested a twin room but was given a double. The hotel was fully booked so it wasn't possible to change rooms. It should be possible to select the type of bed at the point of booking and not have to rely on making a special request.

Great location, great staff. Facility fitness center needs serious upgrade to be more contemporary and useful. Room had weird interior bathroom window, serving no purpose. And they lack an entry at far end of hall for rooms with higher numbers. Extremely inconvenient for patrons.
On the plus side, the CR7 museum is fantastic!

Enjoyable hotel, excellent staff, central location

A quite different very modern hotel with the Ronaldo theme very obvious. We upgraded to a sea view rather than the standard room at the back, this is a must do option. The first morning we woke up to a huge cruise ship moored outside and a band playing as this ship was on a round the world cruise apparently. Many passengers could almost see inside our room which was at first a bit er scary until we got use to it. The staff at CR7 are very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our bed was huge and the extremely large pillows meant I had the best nights sleep in a long time, helped by some delicious Madeira wine of course. If you like watching cruise ships this is the place to be, we had Queen Elizabeth and many others during the week, so always plenty going on. The roof top pool area was never busy and a lovely place to relax and soak up the sun, the weather was amazing around 26-29 most days but this was unusually warm apparently. A short walk into town ..loads of restaurants and the steaks in Madeira are the best ever. 2 restaurants we wanted to go to sent us a taxi for free, ordered by the hotel, and took us back after we had eaten, this was a nice touch and worked well. I would definitely recommend a stay here..but would we go back, maybe not but only as we usually have an apartment which we much prefer to a smallish hotel room. We were also able to use the pool facilities of other Pestana hotels so we tried Carlton, Promenade and Miramar, this added good variation.

My husband had a health problem, this has never happened to us abroad before. The hotel staff were brilliant. Helpful, concerned and aware, they knew exactly what to do. They gave us excellent advice, and checked up on us to make sure we were alright. Couldn't have asked for more.

Gut gelegenes Hotel und Fußläufig zur Innenstadt nach Funchal rein.
Zur Autovermietung SIXT ist es auch nicht weit.
Die Schiffe stören auch nicht wenn man das Zimmer zur Stadt hat, hat man das Zimmer zum Wasser und ein Schiff ist da, schaut man direkt darauf. Entweder man mag es, oder nicht. 😀

Frühstück ist auch sehr gut und das Abendessen können wir auch empfehlen.

Quarto muito confortável. Falta luminosidade à noite, caso se queira trabalhar no quarto. Atendimento excelente de toda equipe. Serviço de limpeza diariamente perfeito. Pequeno almoço variado e completo. Localização privilegiada, perto de tudo no centro de Funchal.

Tout d'abord, les points positifs :

1) Le petit-déjeuner offre un excellent choix au buffet et un service à la commande. Les omelettes sont excellentes !
2) L'accueil et la gentillesse du personnel.
3) La vue depuis la terrasse de la piscine sur le port et la ville.
4) La promenade facile et agréable de 15 minutes jusqu'à la ville et ses bons restaurants.
5) Le parking souterrain est facile d'accès, mais aucune réduction n'est proposée aux clients de l'hôtel, soit 15 euros par jour.

Points négatifs :
1) Le bruit. Les chambres paires sont proches de la route, l'une des principales voies d'accès à Funchal. Certains se plaignent du bruit du casino, situé en haut de la colline, mais je pense que ce n'est pas aussi gênant qu'il y paraît.
Les chambres impaires donnent sur le port, ce qui offre une vue intéressante. Mais les chambres à partir de la 125e se trouvent au-dessus de la terrasse d'un bar-restaurant indépendant de l'hôtel. Extrêmement fréquenté et bruyant, il est ouvert jusqu'à tard, jusqu'au petit matin, le week-end, semble-t-il. Les clients parlent fort par-dessus la musique d'ambiance et leurs enfants courent et crient. C'est parfait pour eux… mais pas si vous essayez de dormir… Les chambres de la 101e à la 125e devraient être plus confortables.
Malheureusement… ce n'est pas sous le contrôle de l'hôtel…
