The location of the hotel is great. However, I have nothing else that is good to say about this hotel. For starters, the WiFi was only confined to the first floor and even then I had to go down to the front desk about the WiFi because I was having trouble getting on. When I went down to the front desk, I asked if there was an issue with the WiFi and only then was I told that the WiFi was broken. Two days later they did get it fixed, but the WiFi was still confined to the first floor. In addition, there was mold in the shower and bottom of the tub was peeling. Lastly, although the location of the hotel was great, the noise level was not due to hearing everything from outside and the thin walls that are inside so you could easily hear the noises that were happening from other guests rooms. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel unless if you don’t care about the WiFi. However, for people who need to do work while staying here, then this not an ideal place.

The hotel overbooked and they didnt have a room for us. However, upgraded us to windsor hotel just accross the road. The hotel was good and have free breakfast. But the noise from the street and pub was awful. People shouting screaming keeping as up all night til late.

It’s an old building but it was clean, staff were very friendly, everything was good, except that there’s no air conditioning and the fan was very noisy, another aspect is the beds are very hard, if they could change that, it would be great. Breakfast was excellent.

They moved me due to overbooking to another Hotel the receptionist there had no idea and did get grumpy told him that's not my fault
If I would have known that it only goes up and down the hill I wouldn't have moved and stayed downtown Funchal I asked at Greco twice how far it would be to walk as a local resident I guess he couldn't answer that question
Next time I know and let someone else move

Great place for a short stay. Generous room size. Pleasant and helpful staff. Location is superb, very central and walkable to places and it has supermarket next door which is very handy.
Stay included breakfast with reasonable choices.

Shower facilities needs maintenance as water pressure was very low, everything else is good and room had massive wardrobes and a lovely balcony.

After arrive receptionist told us, that they have overbooking and we need to stay in hotel sirius… We found it on Google maps, Greco has 4*, Sirius has 2* and it was visible. Loud, old, terrible… thanks god it was only 1 night.

This property was very okay. In terms of cleanliness, our room had an abundance of ants and the bedding was stained in various places. There was no AC, which made it hot and sticky in the room. Very small/ dirty shower. Only two outlets to share between three people.
On the other hand, the location was very nice, easy check in and they had an okay continental breakfast.
One thing I found strange was that when you leave the hotel during the day, you have to leave your keys to the room at the front desk. Then when you go back you say your room number and show zero proof of who you are. Anyone could get into your room, and there isn't someone at the front desk 24/7 watching your room key. Overall, this property was okay, but I would not stay again.

I have never been in the worst hotel. I don’t understand how is passible that they have 4 stars shocking.Very dirty carpet with stains.Window doesn’t close I can’t sleep, you hear everything what is happening outside and inside as well.Definitely not recommended. Thank you

Good but needs modernisation

Hotel with good location within Funchal, clean though needs a bit of modernisation, basic breakfast which is in the hotel next door and needs to have wifi in all rooms. Wifi is only available in the first floor lounge. Having said that, it is reasonably priced, well located and has friendly staff.

It is cheap, but also run down. Dirty carpet, sheets were so so. Guy who checked us in didn’t speak English so had get help from neighbour. Location is great & central. Would not stay again.

Hotel in a good city centre location

The hotels entrance was not welcoming as it was sandwiched between a supermarket door and its delivery bay. Reception area looked decent with marble tiles on both the floor and walls. A lift was in place and stairs also had marble tiles, it was obvious it was grand at some point in its history.
However, we were very disappointed as soon as we entered the room. The carpets were dirty, stained and didn't appeared to been vacuumed recently.Toilets smelt of urine, shower curtain was in a bad state and mould all over the walls. The towels were old and worn out but were plentiful.

The hotel is basic, but three shared a 5th floor room with a balcony. There is a good supermarket below. The hotel's downside was the continental breakfast. Nice dining area, but very minimal choice. We did not expect a banquet for the amount we paid for the room but there were only rolls, cheese and ham, jam and fruit juice. Just fruit or yogurt or cereal would have made a difference.

Great location, friendly staff

The location was perfect, just 2 minutes away from the centre and close for the market and marina. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was fine though could be a little noisy in the mornings as it was street facing and the Madeirans are very noisy. Breakfast was fine, the passionfruit juice always good.

There was a lot to see in Madeira and funtoursmadeira.com have cheap tours with knowlegeable guides. The trip on the Ventura to the Islas Desertas was worth doing, even if you didn't get to walk very far on the islands, as the staff were qualified and knowledgeable and we had up to 10 dolphins bow riding. Monte Palace Gardens are fantastic, though the exotic bird collection at the Botannical Gardens was great. Food and drink were amazing and not expensive to eat out. I booked my own tours, but the staff at the hotel are happy to do it for you.

Enkelt hotell med mycket bra läge i Funchal. Plus för att det fanns balkong och ingick frukost. Minsks för att duchmunstucket i duschen var katastrof, samt kuddarna i sängen var alldeles för tunna. Är man känslig för hårda sängar ska man inte välja det här hotellet, men för mig gjorde det inget.

Das Frühstücksangebot war zwar klein aber dafür lecker

O Zimmersauberkeit. Nicht zu dreckig, nicht allzu sauber
O Das Zimmer ist runtergekommen, aber alles nötige funktioniert

Negativ:
- Kein WLAN in den Zimmern. WLAN nur im 1. Stock. WLAN im 1. Stock ist ab meinem 3. Aufenthaltstag ausgefallen. Nach Rekalamation kam nicht viel mehr als ein Schulterzucken
- Die Zimmer sind hellhörig. Man hört jede Stimme, jede Tür.
- Die Fenster sind undicht. Man hört jedes Auto, jeden Besoffenen, ja sogar den Kassenscanner unter dem Hotel kann man hören.

Dafür, dass es einer der günstigsten Hotels in ganz Funchal ist, war es gerade so am Limit des aushaltbaren. You get what you pay for. Wobei ich sagen muss, das sind echt lächerliche Hotelpreise auf Madeira. Wenn man für so einen Schrott schon pro Nacht 60-80EUR zahlen muss.

We arrived at night and the room was very hot. One of the bed sheets had a blood stain...
I asked the reception for a fan and that helped a little to support the heat.
One bed was very bad and I could feel the springs on my back. The water had little pressure and bathroom was very old.
Breakfast was basic, but fair for the price. I do not recommend this hotel for a family. Maybe if your budget is low and you are travelling with friends it can work out due to be very central in Funchal. Renovations are urgently needed

WiFi works only on the first floor with a weak signal and there are no rooms on the first floor. There are no ceiling fans in the room as mentioned in the amenities. The receptionist (from the evening shift) wasn't that kind to discuss and he could not speak English. We were provided with used bedsheets and blankets. The bathing towels weren't in good condition. Breakfast was really good. But still it is not recommended to stay in this hotel.

Pro: comodità di essere in centro abbastanza vicino alle principali fermate dei mezzi pubblici e della navette per l'aeroporto
Contro: rumorosita sia proveniente da altre camere che dalla strada pur essendo alloggiato al quarto piano la finestra non teneva fuori i rumori
Quando sono arrivato dopo il check-in , non so per quale ragione , mi hanno fatto salire a piedi (al 4°piano) pur essendoci l'ascensore

El alojamiento más barato y se nota

Los trabajadores son todos amables, pero el hotel en sí se quedó en los años 60. Han renovado el suelo de las habitaciones, pero a la cama se le notaban todos los muelles, las almohadas eran pequeñas y de pedazos de espuma, un auténtico horror. El secador ni funcionaba, solo un enchufe al lado de la cama, las ventanas de aluminio ni cerraban por lo que se escuchaba todo el ruido de la calle, bastante transitada. El desayuno continental normal, no estaba mal. El parking es en un hotel cercano pagando 5 euros al día.

En general, si es solo para dormir cerca del centro y no te importa mucho la comodidad, entonces este es tu hotel.

Não gostei, a colcha da cama estava suja, o chuveiro deitava pouquíssima água e sem pressão. O colchão era desconfortável e para não falar das almofadas que não eram uniformes e cheiravam mal.

O hotel é bem simples, o que condiz com o valor, porém a higiene deixa a desejar e o pior mesmo é a condição de sono. Os trabesseisros SÃO PÉSSIMOS e não adianta pedir para trocar, pois além da má vontade, você só receberá outros travesseiros ainda piores. Porém, é preciso dizer que a localização é excelente e fica acima de um mercado continente.

Pequeno almoço muito fraco em termos de diversidade e qualidade.
Duche com água morna e praticamente sem pressão.
No geral, considero um preço exagerado para o serviço que me foi prestado. No entanto, pareceu-me existir vontade para melhorar. Faço votos de que assim aconteça para não denegrir a expetativa dos futuros hóspedes/turistas, nacionais ou estrangeiros.

La première nuit nous été logés à l'hôtel Central juste à côte. Correct.
La résidence par contre est en très mauvais état, la baignoire toute écaillée, le systéme d'eau date d'il y a 50 ans, je ne recommande pas.

Hotel figé dans les années 70, désuet mais propre. Personnel compétant et très sympathique. Emplacement exceptionnel en plein centre ville. Confort minimal atteignant une étoile avec peine, mais petit déjeuner correcte pour le prix. Wifi seulement au premier étage. Attention Chambres qui coutent le tiers du prix de la concurrence à cet emplacement, bien pour les jeunes mais à déconseiller à ceux qui cherchent le confort 3 étoiles. TV complète dans les
Chambres. Linge impeccable (draps et serviettes changées et propres). Hotel qui était surement luxueux il y a 40 ans comme l’atteste sa déco exceptionnellement bien conservée, Une curiosité pour les amateurs de design/architecture des années 70 ! En résumé un hotel familial qui permet de faire des économies non négligeables pour le logement dans Funchal Centre.

The only downsides were the ants I saw, the bad WiFi connection on the upper floors. Also there could’ve been some lights on the balconies or the patio. Nevertheless I had a great time.

O hotel tem potencial, entretanto está com a sua estrutura muito fragilizada. Fui no início do verão, ou seja muito quente, e no quarto não tem ar condicionado. O banheiro precisa de reparos e o local do banho não é nada agradável. O café da manhã é básico, café, pão, queijo e presunto, com umas poucas frutas. Como eu só uso o hotel para dormir, atendeu as minhas necessidades. A localização em FUNCHAL é perfeita! Era São João e vimos todas as festividades, bem ao lado do hotel. Precisa apenas de uma reforma. Os funcionários foram bem agradáveis.

Colocaram-nos num quarto que estava fechado há muitos dias porque estavam com excedente de reservas. Durante dois dias, dormimos num quarto que não tinha água quente, que tinha roupas sujas e antigas atiradas num sofá, que não era limpo, que tinha um cheio abominável a mofo e a humidade porque não tinham como mudar-nos para outro quarto. Após várias reclamações e contacto com o departamento de reservas ( que prontamente nos ajudou com o maior zelo e amabilidade) foi-nos feito um upgrade para o outro hotel da cadeia. Nesse hotel todas as condições foram bastante agradáveis e a experiência foi muito boa. No entanto, este alojamento deixou muito a desejar.

Réservation pour 2 nuits, je suis restée 2 heures et j'ai réservé ailleurs.
Impossible de rester dans une chambre si peu confortable, couvre lit ancien et pas très net au niveau propreté, double rideaux déchiré vers le haut, moquette vieillotte, lampes de chevet jaunies. Pas de ventilateur.
Salle de bain vétuste, rideau de douche jauni, sèche cheveux jauni.
Terrasse avec mobilier défraîchi.
Le comble : les fourmis sur la terrasse et dans la chambre.

Das Hotel geht gar nicht.Von der Ausstattung bis zur Sauberkeit.Das Frühstück ist total mies,immer das gleiche.Aber das Beste ist,dass ca.1 Woche lang 14-15 jährige Teenies von einem Schwimmclub in dem Hotel waren und die sich saumäßig benommen haben und bis in die Nacht hinein nicht an Schlaf zu denken war.Ich möchte einen Teil meines Geldes zurück.
