Locational is phenomenal, rooms are great for what they are. Check in was a little rough, no on sent us a code to get into the building and the door was locked, so we had to get a local from a shop to call the number on the door for someone to let us in.
They clean the room and make the beds everyday, staff is very friendly. Highly recommend staying here!

A nice hotel in the very center of Funchal with everything at hand. I was pleasantly surprised by daily room cleaning and towel change, as well as common kitchen where you can get utensils and plates.

The building is in the old district so it's not the most modern, which goes for furniture as well. Everything was functional, the beds were comfortable. The sound isolation is not good, but in the night there is quiet period as well as no traffic on the street so no issues with noise.

Only bad thing i noticed is extremely dim lights in the room, which made it a bit too dark after sunset.

This wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Convenient location in the heart of the city and next to the market. The room was very basic. The shower flooded the first time I used it because the curtain covered the hole and the water rose quickly. If you open the windows, there is the smell from a kitchen frying food outside. But it is budget accommodation in the heart of the city.

The room looked nothing like the pictures. The picture of the front of the property is actually on a different street in Funchal. There was a light switch hanging loose from the wall. The TV plug would not reach the socket. The sink and shower blocked up and overflowed as soon as they were used. The flooring was unclean and damaged. The balcony (I use that term very loosely here) overlooked an extractor and vent from the eatery next door which was belching out fumes constantly. There were two dirty and broken chairs outside, which I presume were for residents. We had no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, and the shared kitchen, which was two floors above us, was a complete mess and didn't look like it had been cleaned for a while. We stayed for one night, after having booked a week and that was enough. We were lucky to be able to find somewhere else to stay. When we left the property, we were unable to find any staff to speak to. I messaged the owner, but have yet to hearback. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Steer well clear.

Property is in a great location and clean. However the major problem is reception is only manned a few hours a day so the chances are you will have to call a Portuguese number upon arrival to give you an access code to get into the property. This was very stressful as my phone could not dial an international number so I had to borrow a phone.

Where to begin...
The description clearly states 24hr reception. There is no 24 hr reception. You need to call the number listed on the property entrance door to speak to an employee, who will then either attend the property.
I had been to the unattended property days earlier, and after no luck, sent several messages advising of my early arrival. I was advised not to worry- someone would be there. No one was there.
I was waiting outside for 30minutes- in the heat with my luggage. Luckily another guest exited the building and I was able to gain entry whereby the nice cleaning lady stored my bags.
I think it's pretty disgusting that a paying guest needs to wait outside.

I had booked a room with a double bed and 2x twin beds and a private bathroom with rainwater shower head. What I received was not as pictured. It was a dated room with 3 X single beds.
And there was no rainwater shower head.

There was no fan although it was requested at check in it was a 35° day- the room was warm!
Normally there are tea/coffee making facilities - this is just a room with beds, a wardrobe with no doors. Nothing else.

After 5pm- there are no staff on site.
So I could not request a hair dryer. Or follow up on the fan.

The building was uninviting, dark and old. It was overpriced.
It was worse than any accommodation I had stayed this far- and I have stayed in afew hostels previously.

Little room with a private bathroom and upstairs shared kitchen. Location is great, if you rent a scooter, there is a free parking just outside on the street.
Traffic noise and the fish smell from a restaurant downstairs is not so great though.

this place is all about location, right next to the market and easy to get to anywhere you care to visit in funchal or visit using public transport. that does mean noise, especially in rooms at the front, the back was quieter. the hotel is basic, old fashioned and could use some tlc, particularly in the bathrooms but you get what you pay for, cheap and just about cheerful. the staff were great and the manager very friendly.

The stay was ok but I wouldn’t stay again. It was always noisy outside and the room walls are paper thin. We had a shared balcony so no window to open. It was clean enough but a daily sweep would have been appreciated. Overall the whole room really needs attention, it’s old and tattered. On a positive, the bed was comfy enough. Most staff were friendly but one in particular was awkward.

night receptionist wasn’t happy to open door for us. he was complaining instead. Residential facing the big Market therefore too much noise from very early in the morning.
Location was absolutely central and only a minute away to restaurants, bars and shops.
Toilette sink was blocked and very uncomfortable to use. Shower plate without any cover box and so bathroom always full of water. I tried to talk to team regarding those issues but they wouldn’t be able to help. Only boss apparently could have done something about it but I didn’t see him at all.

The location of the hotel is great the market is right there and the beach but halfway through our stay there was construction going on juat above the room and it was really loud and they would start frm 8 am till 13pm ish. I understand that they have to do the job but i don't understand why the hotel didn't warn us about it. As soon i said about this problem to the reception the noise stop for 30 min. Just disappointed about that

In the best position in central Funchal, next to old town and new town, no walking up the dreaded hill to the clinical hotel zone!! Clean , en suite, memory foam mattress on bed.Nice and quiet.Lovely restaurants in two minutes walk.This is basic but we will return at the drop of a hat.Enjoy local Madeiran life in and around this small pension.Great.

I was very suprised. Positive. I recomend rhis place everyone who want to sleep for less money. Room was big and clean enought space for 2 persons. Same is the bathroom clean. The maneger Chavez was very friendly and kind. He offerd us best what he could. If you want to wisit such island as Madeira there is a sin to stay in hotel over day. You must be outside and explore. 100% We come back to stay in this hotel.

Terrible, please avoid this scam

You book one hotel, pictures look not bad. But when you arrive their manager who speaks no english takes you to OTHER hotel. Their manages offers you \"better\" room which looks like a storage room with three small bed and no place to walk. After long arguing they offer you other room which is still from 80's and super small.
Noise coming from drunk neighbours on the street all night long, room dirty, asking to clean it does not help.

Please avoid as they dont give you anything like in the pictures.

* cheap
* walking distance to city center (a few min)
* 2 super markets are nearby: Pingo Doce is in shopping center (by bus stops). Continente is also nearby. Pingo Doce is our go-to-place for breakfast: decent cafe + nice variety of pastries (yum!)
* neighborhood is safe
* across from Mercado do Lavradores, we can see fish market from our room
* 24H front desk, only one guy speaks some English, and another guy doesn't speak English at all. But they're nice.
* good WiFi signal. This is because our room is next to front desk

Bad:
* There're 2 bars on the same streets, which means loud noises till late night. Plus, Mercado do Lavradores opens early in the morning, which leaves you only a few hours of quiet time. This is because we had to open the window as there's no AC in room. It might not be a problem in winter.
* only soap is provided, and cleaning service doesn't supply till I asked to the front desk
* towels were old and hard
* Shower area was small
* My husband saw roach on the 1st night. Since then, we don't bring food to our room. But roach is more of island problem, and not hotel's problem.

Basic, cheap, clean, very good central location.

A small, basic hotel. Rooms fairly small ( but not so small as to be a problem ), clean and cleaned daily. Beds good, shower good. Staff spoke little english, but were always friendly and very helpful ( we broke the key to our room in the lock at 2200 one night, so couldn't get in, the man on reception tried to open the door but failed, so called someone out to fix it. ) Not all rooms have a balcony, you really do need a balcony room, even in early December we came back from eating and sat out until midnight.
The location is brilliant, centre of Funchal, bus stations, cable car, sea front, old town restaurant area all within a couple of hundred yards,
Balconies overlook a busy, narrow street with bars and cafes and the city market on the other side. Great for wathcing the locals go about their lives, never too noisy though.
No food / bar at the hotel, but other bars / cafes close for breakfast.
We spent most days walking the levadas, a brilliant way of seeing the island.
Probably not good for younger families, but if you are looking for a base that is clean, cheap but very cheerful in a good location this hotel ticks all the boxes.

I had read some good reviews about this place before we went and looking at the photos we thought we had booked a good place. Unfortunately we were given a room next to the reception. When we entered the room it was not like the photos. The room was very dark even with the windows open. The bathroom wasn't good either. The noise during the night was horrible. For a cheap place it was in a good area though. Good for people only staying a few days, we were very pleased we only had 2 nights there.

Nos tocó el lado de la calle y es bastante ruidoso. Al haber adoquines en la vía, se amplifica todo. Las camas son muy cómodas, el trato amable, pero no tiene ascensor. El primer piso está en una segunda planta y si la maleta es pesada, no tienes ayuda. El techo tenia humedades sin arreglar. El baño limpio, luminoso pero sin ventilación. La luz de la habitación era amarilla y pobre. No teníamos mucho espacio dos personas en la habitación. También sólo nos dieron una llave para dos personas. El aparcamiento es un problema de la zona, solo tiene lineas azules de tiempo limitado. Juan nos informó de todo y de recomendaciones para comer y aparcar el coche. Gracias. Recomendado si te toca una habitación interior si quieres alejarte del ruido.

Descriptif mensonger. Pas de réception de cet endroit miteux. On vous appelle pour vous emmener à une autre adresse. Très grand mais très très salé et nid de guêpe ds la sdb. On propose un autre endroit où on peut aller sans nos valises et rechanger le lendemain.
Bref je déconseille fortement

It was horrible. They claim to have a 24/7 reception but when we arrived in the night, there was no one there. It took 17 minutes of calling numbers before the owner picked up the phone. It took another 20 minutes before he called us back to give us a code to enter the building (which hadn’t been send before at expedia). The rooms were old, stain on the bed. But we were glad that we had a place to stay for the night.

Het is een oké hotel voor paar nachten. Kamer is erg benauwd. Badkamer ventileerd niet goed en is een houtje touwtje douche gordijn is met wat koorden vast gebonden aan het plafond. Oké hotel, wel midden in het centrum

Het hotel ligt midden in het centrum, bij aankomst had ik een mail gekregen die dag met code om binnen te komen in het hotel. Sleutel lag in de kamer. Bedden waren prima. Hotel was oké, douche ruimte was echt heel erg minimaal. Douche kop zelf erg fijn. na het douchen erg vochtig in de douche ruimte. Kamer zelf erg warm om te slapen. Voor ons prima hotel als je niet naar het houtje touwtje werk kijkt hoe het douche gordijn is opgehangen.

Appena arrivate abbiamo avuto una camera in cui c'era un cattivo odore molto forte, ma il proprietario su nostra richiesta ci ha subito accontentate a cambiarla con un'altra. Quest'ultima più accogliente, pulita e più confortevole. La posizione è ottima, centrale e comoda per raggiungere qualsiasi posto, inoltre anche il parcheggio si trova facilmente. Consigliato! (Tranne la stanza n.22).

Pior lugar onde alguma vez tinha estado. Roupa de cama manchada, bichos nos lençóis, chão imundo, cheiro a urina e cabelos na casa de banho. As portas não têm qualquer tipo de segurança e não há apoio nenhum. Não fui sequer capaz de ficar.

Foi contatado no mesmo dia as 11.30 porque nao teria ninguém na recepção e foi confrontado com perder minha estadia o ficar num apartamento da Residencial Mónaco tendo este as mesmas condições contratadas mas na verdade era um apartamento num edifício privado que só tinha 2 camas individuais, obviamente nao tinha recepção e na recepção do Mónaco também nao tinha ninguém no nosso checkout as 8.31, tive que ligar para entregar as chaves

The is close to everything in the city center, but unfortunately it is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at.
But the room was very worn down and dirty. There was dust flying around the floor, water damage in the ceiling, the shower curtain had stains that looked like rust or old blood.
I bought a pink wash cloth that I hung to dry in the bathroom, and on my last day there the staff seemed to have used that wash cloth to clean the toilet! Because there was suddenly pink residue all over the toiletseat after the staff had cleaned.
I won't be recommending anyone to stay here and won't be back myself.
