Great facilities, beautiful gardens and view, well maintained. Buffets (dinner and breakfast) didn't have great equipment to keep the food warm, but otherwise good (though the multitude of mousse type desserts really all taste the same). Very quiet and comfortable room. Hotel completely ignored my request for info on public transportation and only promoted its linked taxi service which I didn't appreciate.

The grounds of the two hotel merged together and were beautifully kept. Nice location next to the ocean and a 40 minute walk into the centre of Funchal. Regular local buses into the centre of Funchal stop outside the hotel.

Hotel Eden Mar is a gem among the many hotels of the new Funchal area. The many pools, grounds and general facility are kept in immaculate shape. The daily cleaning of our rooms and hotel was amazing. When we were tired of all the tourist activities on the island Eden Mar provided a quiet retreat where it was just fun to enjoy the swimming and grounds at the hotel. The choices for breakfast must have covered everything and there were always plenty of hot tasty food and plenty of smiles and good mornings from a very hard working staff throughout the hotel. Probably one of the best if not the best hotel we have stayed at during our many travels.

Great hotel and facilities, it’s a shame that bars and restaurants onsite close too early.

We enjoyed our stay here as a family and our room was amazing. The breakfast has a great selection but could do with better coffee choices.

The restaurants onsite served up some amazing food and some of the theme nights the dinner is amazing.

Carlos in the bar was amazing and very friendly, he always had a smile on his face and was great with our daughter.

This was our first time in Funchal, but our choice of hotel was excellent. The suite was of a good size and well supported with equipment for our needs. The balcony was great, and we had a lovely view of the sea. It was a little noisier than we were expecting, but part of that was due to a nearby hotel being renovated. I expect that rooms facing the interior of the hotel would be quieter. The ensuite was very practical and the rooms were cleaned each day to a very high standard. Towels were also provided for the pools and spa. The complex is wonderful. A choice of pools (indoor and outdoor) and plenty of options for sitting in the sun or the shade. The buffet breakfast was outstanding - plenty of choice each day with hot and cold options. You could even enjoy a glass of sparkling wine if you were so inclined! The staff spoke excellent English and were all incredibly polite and helpful. There are plenty of dining options close by, and a choice of supermarkets. A bus route into the centre was nearby, but you could walk there and back, if so inclined. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, if coming back to Funchal. Overall, it was a wonderful holiday, with plenty to see and do in Madeira.

We used the gym and pool both indoor and outdoor and everything was to a high standard. We had a junior suite and found the furnishings very tired this was a disappointment(the rest of the hotel was very different). The bathroom was old. The room was a good size. The bed was comfortable.

I loved this hotel! This was our third time to Madeira but first at this hotel. In future this is where I will always book. The staff treat you like family and everyone from front desk, restaurant, bar, pool staff all pay attention to the smallest of details to make the guests comfortable. This resort is perfectly located and has so many nice amenities. We have a child with mobility problems and everything was accessible. It has numerous big pools both heated and unheated. The gym was one of the best at a hotel I have seen. There are numerous family games to play such as ping pong, air hockey, snooker, and boules. There is also a small playground. The food at the hotel is delicious but is also very close to good restaurants and a good sized supermarket. Wonderful place!

Excellent resort facilities and hospitality.

Beautiful resort, easy to get into town down the hills, friendly staff all speak good English. Guests were from across Western Europe not only Brits. The Beds and room were very comfortable. My only negative was the walls seemed quite thin once it was occupied next door. Hopefully the next major refurbishment insulation is added to walls to make it fully quiet, but this is really trivial. Overall it was very comfortable and a great place to relax and revive. Having the kitchen area was also very useful when you get fed up of restaurant food and want to prepare something lighter. Would definitely stay here again.

Elegant, sea-facing hotel, set among tropical gardens with several restaurants and swimming pools. It’s part of the Porto Bay group and one of three hotels within the Porte Mare resort in Funchal.
The staff is very helpful and the breakfast had a good choice of food.
There are shops and restaurants around the hotel, and a supermarket nearby. If you are fit, it's an acceptable walk to town. Otherwise you can take a taxi or a bus.

Hotel and room was as pictured. The bed, robe and slippers were very comfortable. Breakfast options were great and freshly replenished throughout breakfast service. The happy hour bartenders near Almafita restaurants were kind and made great drinks. Receptionists staff were accommodating and friendly. We stayed here for 4 nights ( travelled with family). the hotel was nice and the outside to it was amazing with palm trees and swimming pools.staff was friendly and the views were amazing.Only issue we found was no halal meat options in the restaurant and nearby to eat. so we had stick to veg options which was ok. And maybe they can have the breakfast running bit later then 9.30am. overall we enjoyed our experience and will come back. :)

What a fabulous resort. The facilities are amazing and you can use any of those in Eden Mar, Porto Mare and The Residence. All staff very friendly and welcoming and speak very good English. At the beginning of our stay the resort was very quiet but it did get busier during our stay. We were still always able to find a sun bed etc….
The rooms are lovely, very clean with comfy beds. Full sized rituals toiletries including shampoo and conditioner was a lovely touch. Good air conditioning.
Unfortunately, I had to be admitted to Funchal hospital during our stay. This meant, we needed to extend our stay considerably. The staff were very accommodating and allowed my husband to keep the same room for the duration of my hospital stay despite the resort being very busy. They were also very supportive in helping arrange urgent testing to come home. I know he found the staff a great support, thank you very much.
The restaurants are also very good. We ate in Il basilico and al fama and would recommend both. Breakfast had good selection, something for everyone.
Overall, excellent hotel which supported us in difficult circumstances.

Large complex , with every facility you would ever need , multiple pools indoor and outdoor, entertainment, several restaurants, gym and spa .
Spacious junior suite room overlooking the pool , clients are mostly extremely old , I’m 60 but would be considered a mere youngster here, there were a couple of young families with kids and there is a play area and other things to cater for them.
Great staff and amazing gardens which are pleasant to walk round , location is excellent , right on the promenade walk and many good restaurants externally in the immediate area.

Perfect Madeira hotel

The pool was amazing - so clean and the perfect temperature. Staff were great. Not many good restaurants nearby so we ate at lunchtime - not a big deal. We were able to check in early which was great. Parking was really handy but look the hotel up on Google maps before you go so you see how to get into the entrance of the hotel. It’s a bit hidden the first time.

Only downside was ants got into our room which caused some nasty bites.

We throughly enjoyed our stay but would have like our rooms on a different level (found it noisy close to the stairs /We had two rooms on the ground floor- requested to be moved to a higher floor but was told there was nothing available)

Great location, nice facilities and great restaurant \"The Med\" via the shared resources of the PortoBay Hotel Resort in which it resides or is connected. The Island of Madeira was spectacular and the people were very warm and hospitable, very professional in their approach to us as visitors. We'd visit again for sure.

Wonderful stay, excellent location

Loved our stay, close to promenade, shops, restaurants and supermarket. Made good use of the kitchenette. Beautiful view, comfortable beds, great staff
