Beautiful ocean view from our hotel room. Also, just minutes from the Forum Madeira mall, Pingo Doce grocery store, and oceanside promenade. The bus stop was also minutes away for an easy ride into old Funchal. My only complaint about the rooms is that the chairs were very close to the ground and therefore not comfortable for a tall person like me to sit in.

This is our second stay at this hotel and didn't disappoint. All the staff couldn't do enough for you and all happy faces. The view from the room was amazing. Breakfast is lovely with a good choice for everyone. The rooms are kept spotless. From the hotel you can walk into Funchal or 2 euro for a bus outside the hotel. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Will be back next year.

We had a fantastic stay. Upon arrival, they surprised us with a complimentary upgrade to a junior suite, which made our trip even more special. The views were absolutely stunning, and the entire staff was friendly, helpful, and informative throughout our stay. You can really tell they care about their guests. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Madeira and will definitely stay here again when I return.

The Madeira Regency Cliff Hotel was in the most pefect location, we had a room overlooking the sea which was amazing. The hotel was very quiet, it seems to be popular with the more older traveller, so no noisy drunks coming back during the early hours. The main doors are kept locked at night which adds to the safety, although this can be an issue when arriving or departing during the night.
The breakfast had a good choice and was always hot and fresh, and the staff were attentive. There are a lot of hills here but the hotel offers a free bookable courtesy car to and from the centre, and the main shopping centre is opposite the hotel, as are the local bus stops, which charge around €2 each to the marina. There is a chargeable minibar and free fruit and water in the room on arrival.
Overall extremely pleased with our stay and would stay again.

I feel like the property is stuck in the 80s. The towels, the gym hardly any equipment nor free weights. The 2 trade mills are not working correctly.
When you checked in, they give you an envelop where they would charge you for Chris and that if yo iso this and that. They charge me daily rate for using the in room safe, with 25€ deposit as if I were to leave the property with the key. If you want extra instant coffee or tea (more than 2 of each provided in the room) there’s extra charge.
There are total of 12 parking spaces for guests, 6 in the garage, 3 in front of hotel and 3 outside the garage. I assumed most are occupied by staffs anyway. So, if you are a guest and has a car… good luck.
It’s stressful looking for parking on the street when you are on vacation in a foreign city.
Pool towel must be exchanged for a card provided otherwise no pool towel for you. Thankfully I didn’t have to use it.
Overall, staffs are nice and they were helpful.

The location was beautiful, gorgeous views of the bay. Balconies were amazing. The staff was extremely friendly, Mara at the front desk and Adamar at the bar and restaurant were extremely helpful and pleasant. The breakfast buffet was included and had everything we wanted. You can catch a bus (2 min walk) to Old Town, or walk along the bay for 2.5 miles. Highly recommend it!

This hotel is just wonderful! Amazing staff, delicious buffet breakfast and helpful and friendly staff. All rooms have a sea view and the views from the terrace where meals are had is just stunning. Location great too, easy to walk to several eateries (but some steep hills to negotiate!) or take the bus into Funchal from a stop just minutes away.
I would say try and get a room on floor 2 or above (we were on floor 2 and suited us perfectly), floor one you may find yourself next to the pool where your privacy is somewhat affected, and people can walk past any room on that level.
Do not hesitate to book this hotel, you will not be disappointed!

This is truly a 4 stars hotel with everything as advertised, including the important fact that the rooms look like in the photos. Staff were extremely helpful, proactive, and friendly. The views are amazing! The area around the hotel is safe and quiet, and everything you need (groceries, etc) is within a 5 mins walk.

Good solid 4 star hotel , great staff in all departments , all seem happy to work there and are all friendly.
Great location , good quality varied breakfast , great Seaviews , outdoor pool is heated but quite small.
Dressing gowns and kettle are provided which is quite rare in Funchal.

We love staying at the Regency Cliff hotel. It was our second time there, and we will be back. Staff are pleasant, polite and always helpful and willing to assist. I love the rooms - we stay in one of the six premiere sea view double rooms with dual balconies. The views are great and the space is perfect for a couple.
The location of the Regency Cliff is ideal for some local shopping and eating. Also convenient for centeal Funchal.
They will arrange airport transfers too.

This hotel was wonderful we loved it and will be going back.
It's in a beautiful location with large rooms overlooking the ocean. Very quiet at night. Heated Indoor pool, and outdoor pool, I swam every day. Close to public transport. Airport bus stops outside the hotel.Excellent buffet breakfast every day, and 3 evenings a week a very generous buffet dinner. Delightful staff.

As always this hotel stay was great due to the fantastic staff. The hotel in general could do with some modernisation if it is to compete with other hotels. The carpets , beds and furnishings are showing there age.
Room 507 was noisy has it is below the dining room and we were quite disappointed not to have the room number we requested as we had booked well in advance. A fruit knife would be handy and the information pack could be better for buses etc.
Again the breakfast was fine but the orange juice almost tastes of water.
All in all we will come back again as this was our 4th visit.

Excellent hotel in a great location

The staff at this hotel are really excellent along with the position of the hotel which is within easy walking distance of a number of a excellent restaurants and a large shopping centre (which has a really good supermarket on the ground floor). The hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to and from Funchal which we used on two occasions - the driver is very friendly. The hotel is within 2 minutes walk to the jump on jump off bus and the local bus stop. The views from the elevated terrace for a tasty buffet breakfast are amazing and compliment the balcony in your room.

Do check out Bombay Spice which serves the best Indian food we have ever tasted - approx 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There is also a really nice tea house approximately 10 mins walk from the hotel which is on the coastal path which serves excellent fresh tea. Overall, we cannot fault this hotel and will at some stage return which is mainly down to excellent staff at the hotel.

Great Xmas getaway at the Regency Cliff Hotel

I enjoyed my 4 night stay over Christmas at the Regency Cliff Hotel, Funchal, Madeira. The room was excellent with a double aspect view over the Atlantic and it was sunny every day at around 18-20C. I met some friendly guests and professional, helpful staff. The Gala Christmas Eve Dinner was excellent despite costing 110 euros. Don't assume it will be a traditional roast though. If you want to eat out on Xmas Day there are restaurants open. I went for the buffet meal in the hotel's restaurant and drank the house red which was lovely. I enjoyed the warm indoor pool (28 degrees). I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the hotel with no kids around. I really liked walking up and down the area checking out other hotels, bars and restaurants of which there are many. I wish I could have stayed over the New Year but the price goes up considerably because Funchal is famed for its 8-10 minute firework display at the port. The sightseeing bus tours are a must because you really see how all the houses and hotels are built into the mountainous rock. The view from Monte was spectacular. If you want to relax, don't like it too hot and don't mind lots of retirees (of which I am not one yet but not far off) then Madeira is a good choice. I like the climate in winter there, the friendly people and the low crime rate. Thanks also to Expedia because everything ran smoothly. Do opt for the Madeira airport shuttle through Expedia as it is on time and cheap. It just takes the stress out of it.

So much to like about this hotel. Situated in a great spot about five minutes drive from Funchal centre (hotel provides a shuttle service). The amenities and shared leisure facilities are very good, although the two swimming pools are on the small side.Great breakfast and special deal on dinner if required. Fortunate to be upgraded to a suite which was brilliant and so the accommodation gets top marks. Hotel is on a good bus route including the hop on / hop off service for Funchal sightseeing tours. New shopping centre just over the road. Hotel staff were extremely helpful.

EasyJet did not make any arrangements for us so we returned from the airport and fortunately The Regency Cliff had rooms available so we stayed for another 3 days. We had a lovely stay. Breakfast was the usual buffet but I was supplied with gluten free bread on request. We used the 'hop on hop off' bus the first day to tour a lot of the island. Cable car to the top for a coffee, back on bus to the fishing village for lunch (fish fantastic). Jeep Safari on second day for a real tour of the west of the island, lunch included and well worth the price. Both of these organised by the reception staff as was our transfer to the airport at very reasonable rate.

stayed for 3 nights in a superior double on the 3rd floor and everything about our stay was great.
Parking is a bit tight but fortunately only had a small car. Check in was easy and quick, comfortable room with a nice balcony and lovely sea view. Very decent breakfast, friendly staff, good WiFi, good local restaurants and probably the most quietest hotel at night I've stayed in enabling a good nights sleep. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The Regency Cliff Hotel is about 3km from the centre of Funchal, but has everything you need. The hotel is very comfortable, with very friendly helpful staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and ours had a nice balcony with a sea view. The food is excellent, the breakfast bar has a good selection and the evening meals are varied and with plenty of choice.

Breakfast was plentiful. There were pastries cereals and hot choices as well as fruit salad and yoghurts but it would have been.nice to have a variety of choices during the week but that's a minor criticism.

Just returned from 4 days at regency cliff. Hotel in great location as well as being clean and easy to find. Staff all friendly and nothing to much trouble. Room great size with a view to die for, and an enormous bed.

Wonderful hotel with amazing views!

The hotel is excellent! With large and clean rooms! The room we had been given was lovely - with a big balcony and lovely view! The restorant of the hotel has the best terrace you can have your breakfast or dinner on,with a breathtaking view!The staff was really nice and always ready to help!

Overall a comfortable well-situated hotel.

Nice balcony with comfortable chairs. Bed comfortable but unable to have just sheet as some sort of blanket in duvet cover system so tended to get too hot. Fridge nice for cold drinks of our own. Bathroom needs work. Counter space used up by tissue dispenser - should be attached to the wall as taking a tissue knocked glass into sink. Bath very deep so hard to get out and fixed shower glass meant had to get into the bath to reach taps, plug, shower head. No wash cloth provided. Hair dryer was a vacuum cleaner hose which took ages to blow dry. Only 2 towels (1 each) for bath so had to use hand towel by bidet for hair or as wash cloth. Breakfast fine but advise you to avoid cooked food as made my husband quite sick as tepid. Nice homemade yoghurt with fresh fruit.
Was given cold bottled water and fruit basket on arrival which was appreciated. Overall good hotel.

5th floor rooms are right under the restaurant and very noisy once breakfast starts at 7am.Room safe costs extra for the rental of a key.Everyone was really nice.

Nice hotel in convenient location

Superior room was excellent with huge bed, lots of space and lovely bathroom. Outlook ok but not brilliant from 215 (pool & neighbouring apartments). Restaurant and staff very nice, and breakfast buffet excellent.

Contemporary hotel with stunning sea views

The hotel staff very very friendly. We had a superior room and lovely sea views. Room was very spacious. Had B&B only and ate out each evening. The hotel staff helped us to find some good local restaurants - all within walking distance.
We walked into Funchal old town which was 2 miles each way. Also used the complimentary hotel taxi to take us there and back. Lots to see and do around Funchal.
Would stay at this hotel again if going to Madeira. Liked the fact it has less than 60 rooms so felt more personal.

Excellent hotel in spectacular location

Enjoyed a relaxing week in the sun (most of the time) and pleasant temperatures. Funchal centre was an hour's walk away (hotel also provided a courtesy car return service ) and provided good shopping facilities, parks, restaurants and bars.
The hotel offered a good deal on 3-course evening meals including an aperitif and coffee.
