We were looking forward to eating at the hotel but the restaurant is shut which no one told us before. Despite sending me a PDF about my upcoming trip, encouraging me to eat there. There is no room service available either even though there is a QR card in the room with the room service menu.

We liked our stay at Villa Barbarich this August. The history, property and surrounding area are so peaceful! The staff were kind and helpful as well. The only negative was that we felt the carpet in the rooms was very worn and in need of replacement. The bathroom lighting was also very dim. Older eyes need better lighting. Other than that, we enjoyed the villa.

We loved the villa’s classic old world charm and modern amenities. Even though it’s not located directly in Venice, the free shuttle service makes it a great alternative at a reasonable price. The breakfast buffet was the best I’ve ever had during my travels in Europe, and dinner service was equally impressive. Our wait staff, Ilisa and Francesca, were professional, attentive and friendly. We’ll choose Villa Barbarich again for our next visit to Venice.

We really enjoyed staying at the Villa Barbarich! They had a shuttle to and from Venice which was super convenient, but the train station was also a short walk away and was another great way to get to and from Venice. I am so happy we stayed here compared to right in Venice, gave it more of a luxury holiday feel. The breakfast every morning was great and the staff were lovely. We had a garden room facing the pool which we really enjoyed. The property is so beautiful and has a lot of history! There’s even a nice path to walk behind the hotel. If we were ever to come back to Venice we would stay here. The only downfall was the flys!! When you were sitting out by the pool they wouldn’t leave you alone. But that’s just nature!

I’m not usually one to write a review but this was a truly exceptional stay. The villa is so beautiful and peaceful, the service is exceptional and the food is divine (and very reasonably priced considering the quality) I cannot recommend this place enough. They even offer a shuttle to get to Venice island included in the price of your stay.

This villa was very beautiful and lovely to be away from the busy Mestre and Venice. You’re surrounded by beautiful gardens and water but only 30 minutes away from Venice via bus or train. Elena was very helpful when we checked in to explain the best ways to get around and into Venice. The room was spacious and beautiful as well and dining was spectacular. The staff is friendly and helpful with a bar open until 2300 and a wonderful breakfast option in the morning. Highly recommend staying here

Wonderful property. The historic villa is a visual delight. The pool was so nice on the hot days. There’s a spa and massage services for an extra expense, very reasonable. Wonderful breakfast. While the building, the rooms and the location are beautiful, what sets the Villa Barbarich apart is the staff. The staff is so very friendly and helpful. We spent 32 days in Italy, in dozens of hotels. Villa Barbarich had the nicest staff of all.

A really relaxing location and away from the Venice crowds yet easily accessible by car or hotel shuttle.

Old property with Venetian charm. Particularly hot June so tge outdoors pool was a bonus. Clean and refreshing. Pool service was a little slow but nothing significant.

Booked a king deluxe and the first room we got was dark and facing the parking lot. After some persistence we managed to get a nice bright (big) room.

Lovely manshion like hotel beautiful wall murals. The outdoor swimming pool was outstanding. A great locatiom bus stop outside with regular buses to Mestre or even direct to Venice itself. Tickets for public transport available from the hotel. Restaurant excellent.The menu is limited but the food is delicious.

We enjoyed our stay, the staff were all excellent and very friendly but we noticed at the airport that they had charged us for a number of items from the minibar that we had not had! Obviously not checked properly and as were on a rush we did not have time to check. So, we were overcharged by about 50 euros leaving a pretty bitter taste in our mouths. A disappointing end to a good stay.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Francesco, who couldn't do enough for us. Hotel itself was beautiful, our room was beautiful and sheets/towels changed daily and bed made. Pool absolutely amazing and very clean. Breakfast was good, lots to choose from and so glad we added this to our booking!! Location just outside of Venice (centre) but transport really good (bus stop 2 mins walk from hotel-literally round the corner, catch the 5e or 6e) and if you catch the bus before 9:30 you can get a direct bus there which only takes about 20 mins. After 9:30 you have to get the bus then tram (or another bus) which adds another 10 minutes to the journey but very cheap and buses/trams run very frequently - every 10 mins. Only negatives from hotel were the ants outside in the garden area as we got bit quite a few times and some of the food can be quite expensive compared to local alternatives.

The hotel and grounds are excellent and have real character. The ground floor rooms have private gardens which is quite special. Breakfast is good and served in the main restaurant which is spectacular due to the amazing frescos. The hotel is quiet and relaxing and the staff are very helpful. Public transport in to Venice is via bus and tram and are good although busy and takes 45 minutes. Taxis are about €35 and takes around 20 minutes. The restaurant is pricey but the food is good.

It could not live up to our expectations...

We booked a suite for 3 days, it costs 240 euros per night! Not worth at all!
There are TV in both sitting area and bedroom, we can't find any remote and asked for it, but the staff told me the TV in the sitting area was not use for watching TV, it is only use for showing a welcome message to us! How ridiculous ??!!
Window was broken in bedroom, we didn't dare to get close to the window, so we didn't have much chance to enjoy the view for our whole staying.
For toiletries, we found none of the toothbrush nor body lotion, but found FOUR bottles of hair conditionier ?!
After cleaning of our room next day, the glasses were not cleaned and no refill of the teabags, so we didn't have tea time on that day...
Wifi was only good at sitting area, not at bedroom.
Not much choice for the breakfast buffet, I asked for hot coffee with hot milk, but the milk came after my coffee got cold already. No refill with coffee, too.
Pool opens at 10am, isn't it too late to open for a traveller? It's our very first time to experience the pool which open that late!
It could be acceptable and understanding if the room rate is below 100 euros per night, but it costs 240 euros per night, I have to expect more, am I right?

The hotel was full of character and history with beautiful murals on the walls and ceiling in the restaurant. Our room, although not huge had a lovely private garden with direct access to the swimming pool and an excellent large bathroom. There was a well stocked frigobar in the room and tea & coffee making facilities. Although we had a very pleasant stay at this lovely hotel we found the restaurant and bar extremely expensive.

I had given my son and daughter in law a 2 night stay as part of their honeymoon trip. They told me that they really enjoyed their stay at the hotel and that everything was very comfortable. I have stayed at the hotel myself with my daughter on my trip to Venice 2 years ago and thought the hotel, staff and grounds were beautiful. The bar tender was particularly attentive and went out of his way to make our glass of wine and nibbles special on the patio.

Located on the mainland and not the islands, but ideal if you need parking and prefer day trips in. €20 for a day pass which includes bus & tram to the islands (30 minutes and very easy) and also includes water taxis all day. The local area is also loaded with amazing restaurants which are much, much cheaper than the islands and possibly some of the best food I have ever had!

The hotel itself is amazing. Pool and gardens are amazing and the room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Decor is old school but nice and makes you feel like your in a traditional roman villa!

As if that wasn’t enough breakfast was awesome.

I throughly recomend this place as a cheaper alternative to staying on the islands (particularly if your driving) but not passing on any luxury!

First impression late at night ; dinner in the dining room. Few vegetarian options and costly. After nice sleep woke to fabulous buffet and was able to appreciate the frescoes and refurbished villa. The hotel has a shuttle to Venice at 9:30 AM and a pick-up in Venice at 5:30 PM. We definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Wonderful Hotel 15 Mins from the Marco Polo Airport ( The Hotel can be contacted in advance to lay on a Taxi to pick you up - E35 each way )

The Hotel also lays on a free Shuttle Bus into Venice ( across the Straight ) free of charge at 9:30am and pick up at 5:30pm ... you can of course just use it to go into Venice for the Evening.. a taxi back will be about E35.

The Rooms were good and the area very peaceful. The Breakfast is included and was also great. The Restaurant was very impressive and service brisk from the friendly staff.

The best part was the Swimming Pool which is immaculate in the lush green lawns and also had a Jacuzzi attached. The Hotel also offers a free Gym and Steam and Sauna room for the cooler months.

This place was amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful with whatever you needed! We saw Francesco and Sofia at the front desk the most, and they were always so helpful and easy to talk to!

They have bicycles that you can use if you want to explore the small town mestre a lot quicker! I wish we would have known that earlier in our trip, but we never asked until the end.

The pool they have is really nice, but it is cold! It felt great while we were there because it was 90 the whole time, but it did shock us the first time we dove in!

Breakfast is complimentary and is really good! We had coffee every morning with a nice selection of fruits, veggies, eggs, prosciutto (looks like fat bacon, tastes like ham), pancakes, croissants and more! Carmela was wonderful!

We stayed for 2 weeks and had dinner 2 nights there. We had heard it was expensive and the portions were small, and we are budget travelers. The first dinner we had, I got lamb and the spouse got fish and veggies. Both plates had quite a bit of food on them, and we left full. The 2nd time we both got the lamb, and the portions were significantly smaller, and we left still hungry.

The rooms are great, but you can hear everything from surrounding rooms.

It said check in wasn't until 4, but we got there at noon because of our flight schedule. We were exhausted from flying, and they had a room ready for us, so that was a huge plus!

All in all, a wonderful place to stay, and we will probably return next year!

They also sell bus/boat tickets at the hotel. My friends and I took the bus to Venice. The bus stop is very close to the hotel. It was convenient. On the last day, we did not have time for breakfast as we had to leave early morning for the airport. The staff offered us a to-go breakfast ready at our checkout time. I was impressed. I would stay here again if I come back to visit Venice in the future.

Beautiful hotel, a 15 min drive to Venice and a short walk into the village where there are a few shops, cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours! A wonderful haven after the hustle and bustle of Venice. Lovely pool and gardens. Great food in the restaurant - try the fish it is amazing - and the setting with the frescos on the wall is stunning. Our room was very comfortable. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. We hope to visit again in the future.

Amazing place to stay

The place is amazing, very clean, the staff is very friendly and professional, breakfast is amazing and to top it all it also has a spa you can relax in after a day of walk around Venice. The villa offers a free shuttle to and from Venice as well, but you have to register for it at least one day in advance.
In conclusion, you can't go wrong with this place, we would definitely stay there again once in Venice.

The hotel is a very old Italian Villa. We went through the dining area taking pictures after breakfast (highly recommend the buffet). The staff was extremely friendly and showed us the rooms in the old Villa. Frescoes on walls and ceiling are original.
The bedrooms are added onto the Villa, so are newer.
Rooms open to an outside patio
The beds were very comfortable.

Excellent in every way, but not for those who want to be in the midst of all activities. This is a beautiful, relaxing hotel... and quiet. A cab ride can easily take you anywhere.

Our recent stay at Hotel Villa Barbarich was beyond our expectations. The hotel itself a fantastic 16 century mansion remade modern and comfortable. The staff was exceptional in everyway, the Chef a master with a dining room restored to its original beauty.
We could not have asked for a better hotel, with free shuttle to Venice the hotel was quiet and set on a beautifully manicured lawn. The staff was there for you and we could see they enjoyed their job and took pride in everything they did. Thank you for everything.

A great stay at the Hotel Villa Barbarich

The Hotel Villa Barbarich lived up to the expectations from previous reviews I read before I booked.
We arrived at 9am but the very helpful receptionist said our room was available for us which was great as we could unpack and set off to explore Venice for the rest of the day.
We bought a 2 day pass for the public transport at 30 euros per person and used the buses, trams and waterbus. We also used the hotel's free shuttle service into Venice one morning.
The room was fantastic and the food in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner was very good.

Classy, affordable retreat close to Venice

Very nice location for a wedding. But also nice for a couples getaway with spa facilities. Breakfast was a feast everyday in a hall of high frescoed ceilings. Rooms are very clean, in condition and with SMART TVs. It was a blessing to be able to switch the movies from Italian to English. 2 shuttle times in and out of Venice. But there was a convenient bus/tram service which could take about 45 mins each way, if your timings aren't exact. Service was very good and friendly.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Breakfasts were very good with a huge selection of different foods. Very easy to get to Venice from here by bus and tram, and you are able to buy the tickets for these and the water buses from the hotel, which is vey handy. There is a large indoor shopping centre a short walk away, and in the other direction there is a nice little village with some shops, including a wonderful patisserie/cafe. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to visit Venice.

Beautiful hotel with awesome staff and very comfy rooms. Staff was so helpful in getting us from airport, explaining getting into Venice and helping with restaurant suggestions. Very highly recommend!

Beautiful Hotel

We stayed at Villa Barbarich for our mini moon and it was perfect. Hotel room was spotless with very comfortable beds. I would recommend this hotel as long as you don't mind a 40mins bus ride into Venice.
