The front staff was great. Breakfast was ok. Nice to have hot food and bread products/cereal. A label under the juice to say what they are would be a good idea and keep the yogurt on ice.

Our room was quaint and great for one night. There was a problem woth thr toilet that maintenance couldnt fix, so i figured it out and just fixed it wach time it was needed. Water pressure was great. Quiet room although the fan was on, it never really cooled the room. Nice to have a fridge but it was noisy! For one night, it was a decent place to stay.

Let me start with the staff here is amazing. The history of the building is really cool. The main floor, hallways and main bathrooms are clean. The food is okay.
Upon entering our room, we noticed that it was dated ( but its a super old hotel so we went with it) There was a bit too much furniture in the living room area and no tv. The mini fridge kept the drinks cool. There was a tv in the bedroom, but we like watching from the living room area...but that is our preference.
The linens were all clean, the bed is super firm, so if you like that, then it was perfect for you! The lights ( of the three sets you could use in the room) only one set worked.

You do get a free drink voucher with any purchase over $10. The waiter was wonderful.
The breakfast was okay. It was free so i wont complain! scrambled eggs, sausages, french toast. You can also make toast, have cereal and yogurt. Juice, water, tea and coffee are all available. Go to Hello Toast across the street:)
Our room was right above the weed store and bar. We are parents of 8 kids, so the music pumping until 2 am didnt bother us. The weed store, well, it helped me sleep quicker and deeper;)

We've stayed here many times and love the authentic, old time atmosphere. There were a few things that bothered at night. Firstly, the fan in the bathroom was on constantly and loud. The toilet was dripping all the time.
Secondly, the fridge was very loud all night, which made it hard to initially fall asleep. (room 505)
Thirdly, everything was cold at the breakfast buffet (beans, potatoes
, egg cups) Happy to see the yogurt back, and the mini croissants were good. Staff is always polite and helpful. We'll be back!

Paint peeling off the wall in the bathroom above the sink, the door quite battered and the wall fan in the bathroom in desperate need of a cleaning.
No cover plate on the plug in behind the bed - safety hazard??
The room was overly warm and we could not find how to turn the heat down so resorted to opening the window. Alas, the taxi driver convention at the pizza parlour across the street at 3 in the morning was very annoying.
The staff were great, especially in the attached pub.
Breakfast was ok.
And the bed was very comfortable.

I booked two bedrooms for three nights because I drive a long way need good sleep, while my son needed to study till late night. The first day I got a room with no door in between the two rooms, so the lights could affect people in the other room. The wood floor is not even flat, missing one curtain and safer not working. The noise from pub downstairs is unacceptable. The loud music and bass speaker shakes the building and windows, even noise cancelling headphone couldn’t help much. Music till 2am, then people gathered outside screaming and shouting. I couldn’t fall asleep till maybe 5am. Then I have to wake up at 6:30 to do my stuff. I talked with staff, they said they can offer a quiet room but it’s double queen which is downgrade to my booking, and doesn’t work for me. I said two rooms also ok. They said everything else is sold out. But I checked online there are still 6 rooms available that day. They told me all two bedrooms are at the same side, so will all be noisy. We are able to change room to one level up. At least this one has a door in between the rooms which helps. Again loud music till 2am, I called front desk, they said they’ll check what they can do and let me know, but never called back. No music on third night, I can finally get a night sleep. I end up getting sick after the trip, maybe related to couldn’t rest well.
Otherwise cleanses is good, king size bed is comfortable. Would rate higher if no such loud noise and music.

Room was relatively clean staff were friendly. Odd smell throughout the hotel. Price was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area and the location was great. Main issue is the bar downstairs blasting music until 2 am I don’t typically mind but we were staying on the top floor corner room far away from the bar and we could still feel the music vibrating the room, we decided the only remedy to this would be to go down to the bar and join in on the “fun” we got to the door and a security guard informed us is was a ticked “special event” $25 per ticket. There was a total of 4 people in the bar, we left immediately. I’m sure it’s a much more pleasant stay during the week.

I stayed at this hotel recently and wanted to share an honest, balanced review.
The main issue was the condition of the room. It felt quite old and not well maintained, and unfortunately it did not feel clean or comfortable. There were visible stains and marks along the skirting boards and on the bathroom floor, which gave the impression that deeper cleaning and general upkeep are needed. The thermostat was old and non-functional, making temperature control difficult. Additionally, the main room door had a noticeable gap of a couple of inches at the bottom, which affected both comfort and noise.
Noise was another concern. While this is a downtown location and some street noise is expected, the windows were not well soundproofed. I could clearly hear pedestrian crossing beepers, traffic lights, and street activity throughout the night, which made it difficult to sleep.
Breakfast was available, but options were limited, especially for guests looking for fresh or healthy choices. There were pancakes and potato wedges that appeared freshly made, along with packaged items such as muffins and toast in cling wrap. However, there were no fresh fruits or other healthier options, and for those who don’t eat meat, the choices were very limited beyond scrambled eggs.
Parking was an additional cost, which is understandable for a downtown hotel. However, the parking lot itself did not feel very safe or secure. There were many homeless individuals present, which is a broader, province-wide

We planned to come back there after to end our night and Mulligans had a private event SO IT WAS CLOSED TO PUBLIC.

Would have been nice to know that. I believe the Hotel with an adjacent business with an entrance inside your own lobby you should have information on that company as many people book certain places for the closeby shops, restaurants, and stores.

Good location downtown but very noisy at night if your room is on the 4th ave side. There is an outdoor speaker playing the music from the pub. Hot water in the shower/tub was randomly hot and warm. Our secondary lock on the door was broken and therefore non functional. Pay close attention to where you park if you pay for hotel parking. They have a small sign at the front desk (that’s easy to miss if you’re not at the right side of the desk) showing where the hotel parking is. It is basically one big lot that’s part private lot, part hotel lot. When there’s lots of snow it’s easy to not see where one ends and the other begins. Staff should warn you verbally when you pay for parking at check in. From desk girl was not about to do anything to help me resolve my ticket

The room was clean and bed was quite comfortable. It was a small bathroom but the shower was nice and some toiletries provided. The only real complaint is that we were beside the elevator and could hear it going up and down. If you’re going to book ask to be away from that, even one room over would make a difference. Staff were friendly and check in/out was quick and easy, and the breakfast provided was surprisingly good with hot food like eggs, sausages, pancakes. The breakfast bar was attended by Pooja who was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast time is 6-9 am and I would like to see it extended a little longer as we’re not early risers but we hustled down to get a coffee and a bite to eat only expecting a muffin or pastry so we’re pleasantly surprised with the selection. The building itself is interesting in its historic aspects and has a pub and liquor store attached which is convenient. Only surprise was the pay parking of $8 for the 24 hrs. I’m sure it was in the fine print and I didn’t read it.

A Disappointing Stay Despite Friendly Touches

We had high hopes for The Plaza Hotel Downtown, but sadly, the experience fell well short. Though we appreciated the friendly staff and found the beds quite comfortable our overall stay was disappointing. Although the hotel had plenty of character, the room felt dated, the bathroom was very small, and the elevator was rickety and slow. Most concerning was the surrounding downtown area, it felt noisy, unclean, and not especially safe, which made it hard to relax or enjoy the location. The carpark was very tight, so difficult to navigate. While there were a few positives, they weren’t enough to outweigh the negatives. We hope future improvements can help this property reach its potential.

If you have a car. Its $8 a day to park in there lot. Which is very tight. I have a dodge ½ton. More suited to a small vehicle. Breakfast is included. Food was good. But I had to ask staff for condiments everyday during my week long stay. Front desk staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of good restaurants close by. Also if you like golf. There is a mulligan's lounge in the hotel. I would stay here again.

While the heritage building is beautiful, the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. If you have a room facing 4th Ave and/or Victoria Street, prepare to be awakened by the bar crowd when they close at 2. The price point is excellent, but you are getting what you paid for!

The good first. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was adequate. Hotel was kinda interesting in and old timey kind of way.

The room was dirty. Looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a couple of weeks and deep cleaned this decade. Bathroom fixtures/tiles were chipped and cracked. The worst part though was that my room overlooked the parking lot above the bar which turns into a nightclub (at least on Saturdays). Loud bass music and street noise into the wee hours. Also there was a food truck parked immediately below my window that had a loud generator running the whole time. Not much sleep to be had!

Also it's in a sketchy part of town. I could have paid $8 to park in their parking lot, but it's tucked off the street so I feel safer parking my truck in the free street parking.

Around afternoon, we complained about the air conditioning in our room because it was too hot. The staff said she would adjust the temperature, but it was still too hot until the evening. We had an infant with us, who was getting so uncomfortable and cranky because it was past her bedtime. We approached the staff again, and she said she could move us to another room. She gave us the room key, but when we opened the other room, we were surprised to find another guest there. She wasn’t even apologetic about what happened and insisted on transferring us to a different room again. The next day, we had a big event and were out of the hotel all day, but she wanted us to transfer our room at 12nn because there were guests coming in. Her attitude was awful, and we had the worst stay there that we should have had comfort at a hotel.

Clean but very dated and basic. Room was small, a safe was provided but inaccessible due to furniture being in the way. The room had an aircon unit, not required in October which further restricted space. Breakfast was meagre and not a continental breakfast in its purest form. There was no milk which had to be requested from the one staff member who seemed overworked. The hotel is next to a liquor store where the carpark is located which raised some concern about the vehicles safety, fortunately it was fine. Overall I was surprised that the property is part of the Wyndham Group.
