One concern was dining, with bar/restaurant closed at 6pm, although there was a more expensive restaurant open later.
However, later in the room, we found room service most of the items from the closed bar. Not sure why hotel staff did not mention this...

The only thing that made this room good was location to the airport, unfortunately there were too many negatives.

The shower was filthy, the sheets weren’t overly clean. No restaurant or even “snack” option as we arrived after 10pm and to top it off we were right next to a generator that went on and off all night. Would not recommend

The Rydges is a gorgeous establishment and so convenient being at the airport. Unfortunately the reception staff member, Kiara was extremely rude, she wasnt hospitable at all, she couldn't process my bankcard and repeatedly said it was my fault and I didn't have sufficient funds and my card had expired. I showed her clear evidence that she was very incorrect. Luckily the manager came over and processed everything correctly for me. Luckily Kiara was the only bad experience i had in NZ. The Rydges is a gorgeous place to stay....just goodluck if you get that receptionist.

The hotel is located in the airport. The buffet breakfast was sufficient with a variety of options. Other dining options could be limited if airport dining options are closed. Not a lot to do around the area. Our room was very comfortable with two queen beds and the shower was spacious with a recent renovation. Only downside was we could hear people going down the hallway for an early flight. The staff were friendly and personable, though I did think that they should have a few more staff at the desk instead of one person with a long line when a flights have been cancelled.

Flew in after midnight and once we found our way to the hotel had a shortish wait in reception to check in as there were two couples in front and the system was running slow. Once up in the adjoining rooms we were able to get settled and our young ones in to bed pretty quickly. My only feedback in the room would be the adjoining doors do not stay open. We had to move some furniture around to chock the doors open so our little ones could find us in the night if needed. We caught the tail end of breakfast which we had not prepaid as for two little kids it was very expensive. Turned out to be expensive anyway. Just ordering toast for the kids was $17NZ and for my partner and I to have an omelette and a drink brought to total up to $69NZD. Overall though was a good stay and we would stay there again when we fly in at night.
