I felt SAD AND DISAPPOINTED!! Filthy, room smelly, shower drainage clogged and when i checked it was full of hair stucked there for ages.. coakroaches everywhere, my children found 1 crawling on the table, 1 got 1 from the wall and another small coakroach inside the fridge, yucky! NOT RECOMMENDED!!

While the bed and bedding was nice, the towel rail was broken, the sliding door into the toilet didn't slide very well. Big white stains on the curtains. Reception was meant to be open until 7pm but wasn't. And you needed to check in before you got there. No parking unless you book it but it doesn't say that until you arrive.

“The property was very sticky on the kitchen floor. The bathroom water was not flushing properly. The beds were very uncomfortable—we could feel the springs in the mattresses. The TV was not working, but after we informed them, it was fixed on the second day. All the cupboards were very dirty.”

The bed was past its best, no bedside lights.

Had to ask for a fan since the windows were locked shut.
While using the spa bath, a brown scum residue was present after use (suggests fresh water hasn't been flushed thru the system for a while).

No phone in bedroom so had to use my own cellphone to contact reception to request both the fan and a TV remote but had to ring again, 1/2 an hr later due to no response.

Receptionist wasn't exactly enthusiastic on at least 3 occasions I went to the front office...general feeling of not really caring about the image of the service they were offering.

On a positive note, great location and the room service staff were very friendly. Pity the other aspects of the business let them down. Am unlikely to use it again, sadly.

Stayed a second night but had to change rooms. First room was amazing! Second room
(King regular) was awful. There was water on the chair cushions we found out later which was from the bath upstairs leaking through the floor. Carpet was wet, room was damp and musty, lots of mold in the room and bathroom. Do not stay in this room if you have asthma. Found myself struggling to breathe. Lots of deferred maintenance in this room, pick a different one. Tried to get ahold of reception, no one available. Overall the staff was very helpful the day before, location great. Just choose a different room.

Although the check in process was a little strange and I do not agree with having to give my credit card details over the phone, I was very appreciative of the room upgrade, it was very spacious and comfortable, the beds and linens were well-made and spotless. The room smelt freshly cleaned. Although an older building with older furnishings, for what I needed it was perfect. Perhaps a little more care cleaning in the bathroom, specifically the toilet.
As I was travelling alone, security and safety was my priority and at first I wasn’t sure of the location but it seemed very secure in the motel rooms.
There was an issue around 1am where there were loud voices from men and then what sounded like a vehicle colliding at force with something outside of my room which had me feeling uneasy for sometime after (I was a shaken up and too scared to look out the window to see what was happening, and the remnants of the collision were all over the driveway the next morning) but aside from those few things I had a very comfortable and value for money, stay which was appreciated. The location was fantastic and I would come back again definitely.

Dirty, dingy and not a place were going to be staying again.
The price reflected the quality so much.
Parking was extra and not advised.
We selected pay on arrival and they took the funds from my CC before we arrived.
The room had so many flaws.
Cracked and peeling paint, marks on the walls, rusting and leaking fridge because it was turned right down for the freezer to melt.
Hairs on the toilet and in the shower...
We slept and left promptly.

It was warm once heated and comfortable. It was pretty clean and tidy and the staff were friendly however could have physically greeted us rather than sitting in the back room talking to us through a doorway. Our room had lights without working bulbs. There were dishes provided but no plug to use the sink to wash them. The extra bed in the communal area made seating uncomfortable for watching TV. The $30 fee for 2 nights parking seemed steep and should really be a complimentry service unless people have more than 1 vehicle or something oversized or built into the price rather than an extra. Overall we enjoyed our stay but thought that these areas were constructive ways to perhaps improve guest experience. Besides the parking it was great value for money.

Room was small and noise, the bed was not nice and more or less on the floor/very very low.
The room was dirty and in one of the windows down stairs the curtains had black mold on it. The door at the top of the stairs open the wrong way almost falling down the stairs to open it.
No one was at the counter during the hole time we wore there had to wait over 30min to get service
I know it was cheep and you get what you pay for but this was not worth the stay.

Upon arrival we discovered the reception isn't manned and there is no one on site at all. We had to phone to check in and was then told it was an extra $15 for parking and they also required a $100 deposit even though we had already booked and paid online. None of this was mentioned when I made the booking online. After we finally got sorted and had the key for the room, it was immediate disappointment. I wasn't expecting anything grand for $80 a night but I do expect clean. The room was nothing like the pictures used online. Upon entering we noticed a lot of fruit flies, the walls were dirty, the curtains had something on them, possibly food, and the toilet hadn't been cleaned properly.There was no working light in the bathroom, the mini fridge has been left open/seals were broken and the ice box had frozen over, so the carpet underneath the fridge was wet. We were left 2 bath towels and a bath mat, no hand towels or wash cloths. There were no soap bars or bottle of shampoo/condition, the soap dispenser in the shower was empty. A jug and coffee/tea/sugar was provided, however the coffee mugs were dirty and there was one dessert spoon, no other utensils. The bed spread had a big stain right in the middle, the sheets and pillow slips were clean thankfully. The bed was on a base with wheels and kept moving away from the wall, underneath the bed was disgusting with dirty socks, rubbish and dust. Unsure of regulations but there was also no smoke detector in the room itself.

There was nothing I liked about this accomodation experience. Will send 2 emails
When we were around an hour from our accommodation It said on our itinerary to contact the accommodation to talk to the staff to discuss arrival instructions.

It also says that the office was opened from 8am-8pm. No initial instructions were given by staff at time of phoning ahead as instructed.

Call was pointless as she asked why was I calling…..

she never explained that the office would not be manned.

She also didn’t explain that I was to call her once we got there so that she could take our $15 for parking which I believe is a total rip-off, and should be added to the nightly price of $80 plus $15 making the total tariff $95.

If known it was going to cost $95 for the night I would not have booked.

We got to the front desk, luckily I saw the back door of the building,(no signage) as the hill was too steep to walk down and backup.

we walked through and found the stairs leading to the front desk. Otherwise I would have had to climb a very steep hill to get to our vehicle and for anyone with a walking disability that had booked they would struggle to climb this hill. This information should have been advertised in the AD but it wasn’t.

This info being omitted from the advert is Miss-leading the customer and not giving the customer an opportunity to make an informed decision to book or not.

We knew this wasn't going to be a super flash place. It is what it says it is, a safe and convenient place to stay at a reasonable price.

The room was not super clean, but the bed sheets were. The car park is very tight, but we still managed to get our Toyota Estima in and out. I was surprised at how quiet it was.

Would stay here again, but keep your expectations in check. This is convenient more than fabulous.

Happy with my stay and good value for money with carparking option. I was looking for somewhere inexpensive close to the CBD to stay for a couple of nights after driving down from Auckland to Wellington to take daughter to University. They have car parking on site (an extra $15 per night). Good location near the Wellington CBD. The front part of the lodge is an old building. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic weekend away. The initial walk upstairs to the room doesn't set the mood. But the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, room was big (twin room for my daughter and me), and the shower was hot and pressure was good. Be aware that reception may be unattended and you may need to phone when you arrive and get your key from a lock box. That's the only reason I marked the staff down - because I didn't really see them. It was perfect for what I wanted though. Good value for money even with the extra carpark charge. I'll happily stay there again when University finishes in November. I would probably choose something a bit more upmarket and expensive if my wife came on the trip though. But great location for University Halls moving.

But main problem was lack of any staff at all on the premises, so any queries had to be by phone to some other location, even though a sign in the footer said the desk was manned to 9pm.

The queen spa unit was rather small and not very pleasurable to stay. Lots of noise, doors opening and closing, everything echoed even the noise outside. 3 lights only one worked. Cleanliness was not at all up to par. Spa bath small and discoloration. Dust everywhere.

However, I do think the cleaning could be more vigilant- the shower curtain could be washed more regularly and I went to pick up something I dropped so noticed the accumulation of dust, etc under the bed.

Parking was challenging, reception charged us an additional fee to park despite our high room cost and the vacancy at the motel. The room was not clean, mold above the shower and in the tile grout. Hair and a contact lens still in the shower basin. Toilet seat not secured and roll holder was barely attached to the wall, vanity shelf was not level Room smelled musty, ceiling pants was peeling and not all windows opened for ventilation. We had room 42. Very disappointed, but the location was convenient to downtown.

When entering the building all I could smell was cigarette smoke, my wife said it smelt of fart. Everything in the room was sticky, the shower curtain was mouldy, and the walls were damaged. Outside was the sound of people smoking, fighting and coughing up lung. We were there 10 minutes before we booked a new hotel. We couldn’t stay it didn’t feel safe.

Never got to stay. I wanted to transfer the booking to another date a month later due to making an error. Expedia let saying that the hotel would not refund the money, which I didn't want to do anyway and the hotel would change the date nor offer any other acceptable outcome. Very unhelpful from Expedia and the hotel, luckily it was only $75 but Kiwi's do not like this lack of service and my review may cost you more than my booking.

We booked 4 nights here and stayed one night and left. We were in the older part of the building, when we opened the door to the room we walked through cobwebs. The queen standard room looks nothing like the pictures advertised and was very damp/musty. The wallpaper was peeling, there was cobwebs and dust all throughout the room. The drinking glasses were not cleaned, they had dried liquid in the bottoms still. Huge crack in the bathroom, which could use an upgrade. The area outside seemed sketchy and unsafe. Reception unoccupied during check-in hours.

Overall the stay was okay and comfortable and had what we needed for the night.
There was no reception on site but the janitor happened to be in the back and was able to contact owner (?), get our room key and send him a photo of our ID (kinda seemed like a sketchy process). The room is in an older building that had public access from downtown. Not soundproof at all as it’s regular wood doors along a hallway. But overall okay considering the low cost of the room and last minute booking.

We felt the pictures online were not the same as those we actually ended up with. We had been recommended this by a friend, and were disappointed.
There were no extra blankets, pillows, or even a chair and small table to put things on and have one of the 3 booked guests to sit on, aside from their bed.

It does not look ANYTHING like the picture! At least not from the front! There was no-one there - they operate it remotely. The entrance hallway smelled old and musty. The bathroom needed a good clean / renovation. The bathroom door didn’t fit properly so you had to slam it to get it to close. The extractor fan and several lights didn’t work. The net curtains and room in general needed a good clean. As we went in the room in mid afternoon the curtains were all closed, not inviting. The beds were very soft, but surprisingly I slept well. It was cheap and very close to bars and restaurants.

the photo shown on adverts is not really the lodge, it is the house at the back of the main building. This building is old and in need of serious renovation. .All the linen was very good and clean. I got the cheapest unit I could find as I was on my own and only needed a bed to sleep in for a few hours. So it served its purpose.

I booked 21st June. Checkin 10min wait while girl sorted my booking, we were worried we didnt have a room. Car parking was extra $15. Office smelt of curry.

Room did not look like image - dark and pokey and absolutely no ventilation in building or room which had jammed windows. 2 thin pillows on bed. Wifi not reliable- rang duty manager twice- no one in reception from around 6 pm so no one to help as we wanted to change to a bigger room. (probably owner) who passed the buck. Poor security as outer corridors open and accessible to the public all night. Yucky hair behind loo, no hand soap- we did not use the shower as it looked yuck. Would rather stay in a clean safe youth hostel.

Great spot right in the middle of Wellington.
Does the job for when you arrived at 11pm. Good instructions on how to get the keys and check in remotely. All you need really.

We did not stay here and would like our money back. The man who could not speak English showed me three rooms to choose from all of which we very dirty. Scuffs on every wall, carpets ripped and not vacuumed. Each spa bath had stains, scuffs one had paint splatters all over the bottom. Other had dirt. One rooms bed spread had stains on it. I took some photos as evidence. My children age 6 and 4 wanted to go home immediately after being very exciting about a night in the city having a mini holiday. Very disappointed, disgusted it was horrid. I would like a full refund as we did not stay and told the host all of the above. Please make contact to discuss this further.

Lacking Security

Conviently located for St Janes theatre but security totally lacking. Although a dead lock on front door off the street, no key or swipe card provided. Same with smoke door on ground floor so anyone can walk in off the street and have access to rooms. It looked like the door to my room had an attempt at crowbar entry! No checkin staff available. There was a compressor/pump that \"kicked in\" regularly throughout the night. Very noisy. Drafty room with just a sheet and light duvet on the bed. I slept in my clothes to keep warm.
