This is an old property and reflects its age. The walls are thin and noise travels. The shower stall floor is steeply sloped to the drain insert which floats up with the water level. It was hard to stand up and I kept slipping and stubbing my toe on the drain insert. The staff however, were wonderfully professional and helpful.

The staff at reception were very good, so was the breakfast and the location of the hotel. The only thing pulling it down was that the room wasn't as clean as I would hope. The kettle looked like someone in the past had cooked noodles in it and the shower could do with a decent scrub.

Cannot fault the cleanliness of the room in any way. Know I went budget, but didn't like the reminders I had gone budget - like no functioning air conditioner/heat pump - and it was the hottest, muggiest few days. And of course, only 1 opening window, that has restricted opening so no real moving air could flow in. No dishcloth or tea towel or liquid to wash my tea/coffee mugs with - no basin plug, no shower cap (being a woman do tend to rely on these). No plate or knife to put my dinner on.
So, have learnt, go a little better budget next time!

Room was not ready at 2pm. Poor signal resulting in no tv for nearly 24 hrs. Our pre-paid breakfast vouchers were not given at check-in.
Rooms are dated.
Feel for the staff who were constantly saying the word ‘SORRY’ to literally every guest.
Avoid this place till the promised renovation is complete. By the way, we stayed 3 nights & 4 days and did not see a single tradie, machine or hear a nail gun.

The staff at reception were friendly and rooms tidy and clean. However lost a few points for the condition of the room (410) - the fridge ran so hot it hummed and the draw above fridge with cups, glasses and spoons was really very hot, so everytime you took a glass out it was hot.
There was an open hole into wall where the shower head came out.
There was also no air conditioning that worked which is not ideal just a big fan that was quite noisy. For a room that caters to 2-3 people lvthink there should be 2 seats at table so one doesn't have to eat in bed. Tv only has the basic tv channels and Internet kept cutting out throughout the whole 3 night stay so you cant watch a movie on your phone either (I did call reception about this on second night and they didnt seem surprised. They just said someone was coming to fix it, but was same issue every day so think that might be their standard response).

The staff were amazing both at the front desk and the housekeeping ladies.
Room was average. Something was sticking through the carpet that got stuck in my child’s foot, I do think they are under renovation because the room right next door to me looked amazing. Staff were 12/10 room was a 3/10 and that’s being nice. Word of advice, utilise the discount on offer for Wilson car park next door as the under ground parking is tight.

First of all, I have never ever heard of a Hotel room not having Aircon. I have travelled a fair bit in my life and never come across with a room with no AC. They offered us Fans (which were very dusty, could have cleaned it first). They also don't supply tissues (we have stayed in Lake Taupo in a Motel for 1 night, even this little place had aircon and tissues. We have emailed them at the time of the booking, that we require secure parking for a daily fee, well they didn't have any, we were told, first come first served, they have run out of parking spaces. They did not mention this at the time of booking. We had to park in Wilsons Parking (unsecured). Next morning I woke up to see a line of thick dust in the \"headboard\", had to ask them to clean it as it was right at my head. Bathroom very small, vanity had hardly any room to put a bag of toiletries down. For a bigger room, TV was tiny, no ability to log into any apps, as they didn't have any. Although the same chain in Auckland was a lot better, with this experience we will never book anything with Mercure. Terrible experience.

Our room was very run down, had a rotten window frame, broken mirror which had been duct taped up, no sheer curtains and an apartment block right opposite that looked straight into our room. Had drapes but if wanting to get changed in the daytime, needed to close the drapes which made the room dark. Acrylic Shower cubicle was also very small and we are not large people. Overall felt it was a very run down hotel.

Room was very dated than what is presented in the pictures. Walls are paper thin, could hear friends in toilet and the people partying next door. Upon check in wasn't told about the elevator that didn't work in the wilsons carpark. We would have dropped the luggage and me at the door as i am having surgery on my knee and walking down 4 flights of the car ramps was very painful. There is no cutlery only coffee stirrers. Also the room was serviced at approximately 4.45pm which was such a weird time as we were getting ready.

Overall the place was in a good location for the city and the TSB arena.

Room was ok but property had a tired look and needed better quality renovations. Shower performance needed improvement.
Breakfast buffet seemed expensive at $35 per head and a human hair was found amongst the scrambled egg. Its location appeared to indicate a lack of hygiene procedures by kitchen staff.
The shops nearby did not enhance the properties location

Room was comfy and clean. Location was convenient and lots of places to eat nearby. Hotel breakfast was contracted out to cafe next door and it was a good breakfast except they ran out of food and didn't replenish anything and heaps of people after us went without. Most irritating thing was that we tried to check in after 4pm and told our room wasn't ready yet with no timeframe provided. We had tickets to WOW that night so this meant we had to change our plans and it was just annoying. Hotel staff were nice but didn't seem to care that this was an inconvenience and offered no solution. Tainted the whole stay, really.

When booking the motel the photos seemed nicer than what the actual room was. Our drain in the shower was blocked with hair.
We had a buffet breakfast with our stay.
Buffet food was cold not hot and very over cooked.
Parking was a nightmare not very well signed saying this is where to park. Very tight car parks was very difficult leaving as bigger vehicles were parked and hard to move past

Check in was difficult, asked for early check in when booking and when I arrived this was not even considered. Room had rubbish under the bed. Bathroom was not up to standard, mould, dirty shower curtain. Wallpaper in main room was peeling off. Staff were in the corridor complaining about guests. Location was great. Tried to extend booking with property directly and found them very hard to contact.

The greatest problem was the check-in process. There is a loading zone out the front of the property which is limited to 5 minutes. This is not enough time to unload our bags, check-in, deliver our bags to our room and repark in the paid parking underneath the building. We found out the hard way as received a council parking fine for being in that loading zone apparently too long. We are not fighting that ticket and yet to receive a result from that.

The best room of the fortnight trip. Wonderful dark room theme and a super comfy bed. Close to bars and restaurants, definately could have stayed longer if I had the time. Unfortunately the car was too high for the next door carpark but convenient street parking 1800-0800 was found very close by. Great value for money.

I have stayed here before and it was fine. The rooms are tidy, clean and have what is needed. However on this stay I had a group outside making noise until late, an uncomfortable mattress, rain on a tin roof somewhere and 3 rubbish trucks (or the same truck 3 times). A night of poor sleep.

Hotel is in a great location, with good staff and lovely front of desk.
First branded hotel I have been to with single glazzing on a main street in a city and no air conditioning by default - didn't read the fine print that air conditioning is an optional extra.
Car parking is convenient but car parks are small and tight.
We stayed on a Saturday night, so we got basically no sleep, as it was warm, and there was yelling and screaming outside our hotel all night, and then trucks \ buses from early morning.
For $250 for the night it would be the worst value hotel I have stayed in from memory

Generally clean and tidy. A bit of a glitch with the drawers in various bits of furniture in that they kept opening by themselves. Needs a bit of maintenance.
The beverage satchet tray had an open coffee satchet in it. Hard to know if that's an accident or just not cleaned properly.
Also no teaspoons for the drinks and only 1 disposable wooden stirrer that was hidden away.

A good place for short stays

Hotel is a bit out of the main CBD, but not far to good restaurants & cafes.
Service was good, the towels were changed daily , which is not really necessary for just one traveller.
Bed was very comfortable and a variety of pillows to chose from.
The room itself needs a bit of attention, it is pretty old and some wall paper is peeling off walls.

Good location. Rooms are very dated. Wifi for TV kept coming & going so gave up.
Receptionist was awesome when I arrived as first room I could hear everything in the rooms next to me , she kindly moved me to a better quieter room.
Comfortable bed. No teaspoons for stirring coffee etc which I found unusual.
