The building is modern, and located halfway up the hill, with fairly easy access to the CBD via an adjacent hotels parking garage elevators. The rooms are totally kitted out to be like a small apartment...dishes, glasses, cutlery and utensils. Best of all, a washer/dryer combo WITH laundry detergent. So we'll appreciated. And the Wi-Fi was steady and strong. A must for working. There were a few stains and tears in furniture fabric, but the only real drawback is no easy access to coffee or a café for a quick breakfast. Then again, ANY could go to the store and get some for the room and make my own.

Fair sized room right on the doorstep for City centre, museums, wharfs. Washing machine in Queen suite, and a bigger machine available if required. Spotless. Parking available if booked everyone very friendly. Wifi worked for us no problems. Upgrading air con so will be even more comfortable.

The young lady at the front desk was very helpful. She took the time to help me get around the streets in the area so I had my choice to walk, drive or take public transportation. House keeping takes excellent care of the property. Some remodeling or repairs were going on and the crew worked hard not to inconvenience the guest.

Centrally located hotel equipped with everything we needed. Atop the Plimmer Steps from
Lambton Quay (weekdays 8-5 you can use the Plimmer building’s escalators and the car park elevator from level 4 to 8A to escape most of the steps!) we found most of what we wanted to see in Wellington within easy walking distance.

The Gilmore Hotel is absolutely fabulous! It’s in a great location in Wellington, with easy walking access to one of the best shopping streets along with some of the historic district areas. Staff is wonderful and the facilities have been updated and are very modern. Would highly recommend!

It would help to make arrangements with the buildings across the street for guests to use elevator to The Terraces. Except for the uncertainty of convenient parking, this was a very good experience.

The room was clean. The hallways are very dark, and parking is limited. The washer/dryer only worked to wash - you had to be there watching it in order to set the dryer settings when it got to that exact point, which then didn't work very well, so we had to hang our clothes to dry. The location was great and within easy walking distance to shops and dining.

Parking was close and even though we checked in after hours, it was easy. Be aware that the property will put a two hundred dollar hold on your credit card before you arrive, as this isn't immediately obvious in the booking conditions (there is a line about they \"reserve the right to put a hold on your card\" which I found inadequate). With single glazed windows and being in the middle of the city it was noisy and light from very early as it was summer when we stayed and the curtains didn't quite block all the light. The accommodation itself was nice and quiet and very private. There was no air conditioning in the bedroom space, but windows on stays meant you could air the room out and cool it down before bed. All in all we were happy with our stay.

I didnt notice the qieen apartments doesnt have air-condition. They provided fan instead. I didnt think in 2025 we needed to check if aircon available. All the 3 star motels has aircon. I wouldnt recommend their queen apartments. Sorry.

Would recommend Gilmer - I arrived after hours and everything was set up for me including parking which is very easy and convenient. The hotel is easy to access from SH1 which reduces city driving. The room had everything I needed. I didn’t need aircon but there was a fan.

Room was quiet. Bed very comfortable. Easy access to Lambton Quay through a parking lot to an elevator. Very good Chinese restaurant, Jasmine, after you exit the elevator. The toilet in our room took a couple of flushes to clear the bowl. The AC never seemed to blow much air and made a clicking sound. Hopefully they get those things fixed for the next guests in 316.

If you drive to the hotel, make sure to book the hotel parking in advance. Otherwise, you will need to park at the public parking across the street

Seemed to be an error with the room we were first given, didn't resemble the room I'd booked. Very small and confined. Management moved us to a more appropriate one when queried that was much better.
