The main issue was the lack of communication to enable us to gain access to the accommodation. It was only received a couple of hours prior to arrival and only after we chased it. A number of emails were needed before we eventually got the info needed to access the property. Using the lockbox to obtain the key was also challenging.

The staff was very rude and shown aggressive behaviour with our family. The bathroom was not clean and upon requesting to check the guy started arguing and shown aggressive behaviour with my family. The manger came and cheked the bathroom was smelling, which she cleaned herself and sprayed fragrance. Overall on requesting a towel to the guy he shouted rudely in the lobby, \" what? Why? There is already a towel I can see in the chair.\" We were three of us in the room and I saw only two towels in bathroom and didn't noticed third one was opposite way in the studio at dining chair.

Really convenient and great that they took pets. Special touches like having a dog bed, bowl and dog treats!

Room was clean and spacious and comfortable.

Check-in and out was super easy and I got a call before check in to make sure I had everything we needed.

These apartments are in an excellent location, just around the corner from Te Papa and across the road from the waterfront. Lots of nice eateries within a short walk too. The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The balcony had views of the waterfront and was a lovely spot. We would definitely stay here again if coming back to Wellington.

I booked an extra night.

Nice bright units are one block from waterfront, next door to convention centre and Te Papa museum, and walking distance to everything. Automated check-in but management office is onsite if you need anything. Comfortable bed with good quality linens and all amenities for a short term stay.

Spacious and Efficient Service

Stayed here with my family of five and it was very spacious and the contactless check-in process was very efficient and convenient. The one bathroom situation was a bit challenging but everything else was fantastic. The in-room washer + dryer was excellent and helpful too. The apartment is also located in a great location within walking distance to many restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. We appreciated the saved parking space across the street but note that it is an open car park area so we did have to be mindful about leaving our belongings in the car overnight. Overall, I highly recommend this place!

Location is absolutely the best, as it is only a block away from the waterfront, attractions, and many, many restaurants and bars. Staff are all professional and accomodating above and beyond. However the room furnishings are somewhat lacking, with things like luggage racks and desks missing, and no power or USB outlets where they would be most useful At night, the bedroom rattles with the sound of machinery, which goes silent in the morning. There is also no view from most of the balconies, but just having a balcony right by the water is nice

We stayed at U Residence Hotel on our road trip to Queenstown and on our return. We absolutely loved this place and we were travelling with our wee dog who was able to stain our room. It was extremely clean, warm and the location is amazing, both for food and to the Ferry. Check in was easy and contactless. Definitely will stay here again with or without dog.

Disappointment is a nice way of putting my stay at U Residence, Wellington. Online it says the hotel is 4 stars that unfortunately is a joke. Let’s start dishwasher doesn’t work, smoke butts and ash tray on balcony, no pen or paper to write on. Couldn’t connect to the wifi. One rubbish bin that was the size of a peg basket and no refil rubbish liners for when full. No soap. No vacuum cleaner, had a washing machine but no instructions or powder and no line to put clothes on. The shower bottom was uneven and slippery, my 70 yr old dad whom I stayed with slipped over while getting in. Also says pet friendly, no where for your pet to get outside no courtyard had to walk over 1 km for my service dog to wee each time. No stairs to access only a dirty lift. The doors are difficult to unlock and heavy. I was told the hotel had limited parking so asked as a disabled person for parking and the hotel has actually no parking at all it’s inside a shared building. We checked out at 7:30am because of all these factors it was an awful nights stay. I really am wanting a refund because it ruined our entire trip to Wellington and was not worth the money spent. It felt more like a brothel than anything else. I found it hard to give it 1 star. Very misleading online. Also said has sound proof walls that’s not true we could here everyone come and go and both sides of our room shower and use the toilet. Toilet paper was 1 ply but so thin you couldn’t even get it off the roll properly. Refund pleas!

Close to lots of Wellington things.

Great location for Te Papa, Michael Fowler Centre & the New Convention Centre. Comfortable room with kitchen, close to supermarket if you want to supply your own food. Good blackout curtains, bed comfortable but would have preferred a King (there is plenty of room for one). Air Con for heating works well. Watch out for the small lip when getting into shower. Nespresso coffee machine down the hall very handy. Doesn't have Sky TV NZ but its still a good smart TV. Just remember this is a single floor hotel with no reception sk you cant leave your bags there early or after checking out. Te Papa Museum has pay for bag lockers until 6pm. Slightly cheaper than near by hotels.

Bad experience with both hotel and hotels.com

I never post reviews, even if I've had a bad experience, but making an exception. Room seemed ok at first but the bed completely fell apart as soon as I laid down. Has wooden slats which I tried to fix but the attachments were broken so it kept falling apart. Ended up pulling the mattress off and sleeping on the floor. Everything is contactless, including check-in, so no one to contact. Ran into to the manager the next morning who was apologetic but refused to even provide a partial refund. Hotels.com was not at all helpful and simply said there's nothing they could do if the manager refused. At the least, hotels.com should be able to confirm that basic features, like safe hotel beds, are available in the hotels they have on their site.

I arrived after hours and couldn’t get into the building. There is no lobby and the room manager was not answering. I had to make a few calls to get the code into the building. Key was left in a lock box. I had booked the room specifically for the washer and dryer. The washer wasn’t working and the dryer didn’t dry the cloth. Bad experience, don’t stay there!

We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to the cultural museum - which by the way is a must see. We are an older couple and had a very difficult time
with the contactless registration and entry. It was a frustrating start but the person in charge was helpful when we finally met him. The room itself was OK and there was plenty of space. There was a balcony but it was cold we didn't use it besides there really wasn't much of a view and there was construction going on nearby. The room was fairly clean And the amenities were nice. This was the only place though on our entire trip of 40 days where we opened the refrigerator and the milk was curdled. Not a very good attention to detail by whoever worked the room. The location was excellent. I thought the bed was super comfortable but my husband had a very hard time sleeping. We will probably look at other places next time in Wellington.

I stayed on Sunday night. 28th August. I usually stay here a lot and never had any problems but had a terrible stay. 2 large parties where happening at once out of different rooms. They were loud all night and no one did anything or even ask them to turn the volume down. I didn’t sleep at all because of the noise and it was a terrible stay.

Great location near Te Papa. Spacious. Some staffs were friendly and helpful. Every time I was entering or exiting the building, there were smokers by the building entrance. Air condition unit was loud. Some amenities in the room were not very clean (badly stained cup, rusty soap dispenser in the wash basin, etc) and hot water was poor in pressure. After-hour over-the-phone check-in staff was accessible and helpful. Check-out was inconvenient. Expedia website states that the reception opens at 8am but no one was available. When called the number, I was told that the reception opens at 9am and was told that reception was on the ground floor which was not the case. The reception was at the opposite end to the entrance to the hotel part of the hallway and was not sign posted well. Staff was slightly late but was very helpful and friendly.

No WiFi available the WiFi name never appeared on WiFi network on my phone and internet only available in certain areas of the room as were dead spots in room, no Netflix available on TV as not available to connect because TV had no network to connect too even though your website say there was, no milk available for hot drinks. Tv Remote in bedroom didn't work had to turn TV on and of on the actual TV itself. The building that was been built next door had bright lights on all night but there was no one working there overnight.

This was our first time staying at the U Residence and we were there for 2 nights. Arriving out of hours, clear instructions of accessing the hotel and room were sent out prior and the key was easily retrieved from a safe and secure lock box.
The Hotel is situated in a great location, close to Te Papa, Courtenay Place and the Waterfront and is also dog friendly. The room and bathroom were both large and clean.
Nice touches were the complimentary extra towels, basic cooking seasonings, additional bathroom supplies and coffee maker with coffee refills available to all guests in the main hallway at anytime plus the two bath robes, thriving flowering plant and fresh milk in the fridge in our room.
The only niggles were the shower hose/nozzle which was splitting so the water pressure was very low plus a constant on/off noise throughout the night outside of our room. (These we addressed with the housemaid when we checked out, so hoping they are resolved before our next stay!) I would highly recommend this Hotel and we will definitely stay here again.
