The hotel was modern, clean and conveniently located to major sites. The staff; mainly the sweet patient young lady at the front desk. She was very helpful, knowledgeable and thorough with assisting a couple ahead of me with scheduling and purchasing tours and activities. I was impressed as she was able to help me without batting an eye when it was my turn. Breakfast buffet was generous and delicious. I would absolutely recommend Casa Santa Sofia

Casa Santa Sofia is very close to the Coliseum, about an 8-minute walk away. It has restaurants nearby, but I think the hotel is overpriced because it doesn't have a TV, and the bathroom, especially the shower, is extremely small, so you bump into everything with your arms. They don't warn you that the hotel is under construction, and you can hear the noise early in the morning. For $210 a night, you could find better options. Think twice before booking, as you won't get your money back.

The location is absolutely perfect turn the corner and you’re greeted with a view of the Colosseum just a stone’s throw away. The Trevi Fountain and Pantheon are within a 15-minute walk, while the Vatican is about 25 minutes by car and Trastevere just 15 minutes. There are plenty of great little restaurants right out the front and all around the hotel.

As a solo female traveller, I did notice some seedy people hanging out at the front on occasion, but they were largely harmless. The staff were very friendly and responsive, which made the stay more comfortable.

If you’re looking for a hotel mainly as a place to sleep while exploring Rome, I highly recommend it. But if you want luxury or extra amenities, you may prefer elsewhere.

The hotel was booked last minute because of an Airbnb that wasn’t quite right. The staff were very helpful and let us keep our luggage there until check-in. The lobby is comfortable and nice to relax in while we waited. The water cooler was a very nice and welcome addition in the lobby. The rooms are basic yet clean and comfortable with a pretty spacious bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and enjoyable with a nice selection. My one small note for improvement is that the lamps in the room have cool lightbulbs instead of warm and so the light reminded me more of a hospital than a hotel. No other issues beyond that and I’d definitely stay again.

The hotel has a lot going for it. It’s in a great location, just a short walk from the Colosseum and surrounded by tons of food and shopping options. The staff were really nice and the room was clean and comfortable. Having breakfast included in the package was also a nice touch and made mornings much easier.

That said, a few things took away from the overall experience. There was no TV or fridge in the room, and the rooftop bar which was one of the features that drew me in was closed during my stay with no notice. Even the TV in the common area didn’t work, so there weren’t many options for relaxing onsite.

If you’re mainly looking for a convenient, clean place to sleep in a central location, it does the job. But if amenities and advertised features are important to you, it may fall short.

Overall a really nice stay. My only complaints all be it very minor but valuable is that the rooms did lack some key facilities such as a television, kettle tea & coffee facilities and the bathroom was very dated and small. It Needed refubished. The shower was tiny I could only just fit in. The double bed was very small it was more like a large single than a double .

Apart from the above everything else was great. Staff were friendly and lovely . Couldn’t do more for you if they tried they were amazing . Location was amazing . Colloseum on your doorstep and the metro 2 minutes walk away. They could have been more hot food options at breakfast for the price they charge but overall it was okay.

Would I come back again? If the price was really cheap then yes due to what it lacks otherwise for the price I paid I would choose to find a hotel with better facilities .

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Rome

Hotel Casa Santa Sofia is perfectly located in the center of Rome. We took a taxi from the airport, and what a pleasant surprise it was to see the Roman Colosseum just around the corner from the hotel. A truly magical welcome!

The hotel is spotless and smells fresh the moment you walk in. Everything is well maintained and thoughtfully designed, creating an immediate sense of calm and comfort.

We were traveling as a family and booked two rooms. While they weren’t very large — something quite typical in Europe — they were well lit, the towels were high quality, and you could tell attention was paid to the details.

The staff was very kind and helpful. Upon our arrival, the receptionist helped us plan our afternoon and even booked the hop-on hop-off bus tour directly from the hotel — super convenient.

The area around the hotel is lively and full of restaurants, gelaterias, and local energy no matter the time of day.

I would absolutely stay at this hotel again on our next trip to Rome. Highly recommended!

Well I asked Hotel.com to help me because there was jackhammers on the first morning of our stay at 8am in the morning and every day since and the last day they added hammering and did not tell us untill we left that the bathroom next door was broken. But the jackhammer never quit until 4:30/5 that day, so I am not sure that was the entire truth. It was extremely hot in Rome, so my daughter and I would try to avoid the hottest part of the day, but how do you relax with jackhammers above your head? Hotels.com said they would get back to me within 24 hours regarding a partial reimbursement, and it has been 5-6 days, but I have not heard about my partial refund. It was horrible, and the woman in the morning shift was not nice at all. When we checked out, she did not charge me for the morning breakfast, and then emailed me later to explain that it was to compensate for the noise from the hammering next door due to the broken toilet. I never heard back from the Hotel or Hotels.com about the noise we had to endure during our stay, and honestly, I am not very happy and extremely disappointed.

Great hotel in Monti neighborhood, close by few of the main attractions in Rome, you can walk everywhere from the hotel and full restaurants around for dinning choices as well. The hotel is clean , basic and safe, the staff are very friendly and accommodating as well, great experience overall.

Really excellent! The staff on reception were super friendly and took the time to remember ur name and room number during ur stay. The rooms were really good, above a 3 star, the bathroom was spotless but very 3 star. Only thing missing was no coffee machine in the room. There’s no TV also but you are in Rome so not needed! The location is really excellent, in an amazing square with loads of food options. Short walk from everything you would want to see, pretty much perfect.

Great stay in Central Rome!

Absolutely amazing experience. Property is very well located, right in the center of Rome, the colosseum is visible down the street! Desk staff were very friendly and helpful, excellent service. Room was spacious, modern, and clean. Optional included breakfast is worth it in my opinion, very good and not pricy at all.

I have no complaints with this hotel, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great location in Rome!

It was okay… I wouldn’t say it was amazing, but it served its purpose for two days, sleep & shower.
The property is located in a tiny piazza with cafes, pastry shops and restaurants at just footsteps away. The colosseum can be seen from
The sidewalk and you can walk to it in about 4 minutes. Most of the sites can be reached by foot and are no more than a 20 minute walk.

There was some construction work going on in the hotel building, our room overlooked what I assume was a courtyard and we constantly heard the doorbell downstairs ringing. The room itself was very small and the shower was tiny.
Look, it’s not terrible but I kind of expected something nicer.

The staff was friendly, and held our bags before and after our check-in/out times so we could explore the area.
The court yard right outside the hotel had several really cute restaurants and cafes.
Location is perfect. We walked from the Roma Termini to the hotel with our roller carry-on luggage in 15-20mins, but took a taxi to the station when leaving for approx 10€.
Super walkable area to many other eating/ shopping/ attractions. The Coliseum is right down the street!
The star of the show was the water pressure in the shower! Shower itself was pretty tight, but water pressure was excellent!
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

On check in I was asked for £100 euros holding funds for which nowhere had this been stated.

We stayed for 4 days at the end of March 2025, whilst work was being carried out, but we hardly noticed any disruption. We were a bit sad the rooftop terrace wasn’t open until April, but that was our bad luck.
Staff are excellent and service was top notch. They are friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful. (We forgot our European plug, but they sorted us a fix for our stay.)
The hotel is just minutes away from the Coliseum and a short walk from other amazing sites, we felt very safe walking around at night and found some lovely places to eat close by.
Our standard double room and bathroom were clean and functional, but small. Breakfast was standard but the coffee is very good. I would definitely recommend for short stays.

Walking distance to everything (except Collosseum and Vatican but uber is super easy) without being too hectic, had to leave your key at reception everytime you left but just meant it was one less thing to worry about when exploring, was never an issue getting the key back as the staff are located right by the elevator. Staff were super friendly and helpful, I was a last minute booking as I changed my accommodation and so grateful I did.

The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant. However there was a real issue with noise and sound carrying from room to room. More so than just loud noises, there was constant noises of plumbing too. You could hear everything, including if someone had a shower or walked along the corridor. This made for a particularly disturbed night of sleep. When combined with an extremely hard mattress, and curtains that didn’t block out the light, it resulted in a terrible stay. The hotel was pleasant and a good location, but if you are a light sleeper in any way, the rooms are simply unsuitable for sleeping in

This particular location shared my FAVORITE QUALITY of spending time in a \"Neighborhood\". The Quality of the residence, and AS Importantly, or MORE... the Staff, front of house, management, finances, info, booking..even Fabulous breakfast chef and attendents, avaiability for ANY help, amenities, data for seeking Attractions for art or Food.. Is the BEST...I have ever experienced in 50 years of travel. Rome can be \"Tough\" for visitors..even without my Art/culture/food experience.. I speak some Italian, much Spanish, French, but primarily English... EVERY employee went beyond Normal duties to be kind and communicative...right down to the maintenance and room supervision. I simply Cannot say How WONDERFUL..all the Staff at this Location...SOooo convenient, have been. I was even able to speak to one Manager..to Express my thanks for such a wonderful experience.. DO...yourself a favor..and Stay at \"Casa Santa Sofia\" if you want to experience the Best of Rome. It is mere blocks from The Collosium..and I was able today to even take a lovely stroll to the Borghese Gallery to see, again, my favorite artist's work.. Berninini.. I even stopped to get a new suit..tailored..just for Me.!! I can pick i up tommorrow by noon. Fantastic.!

We like that the property is located in the metro area, walking distance from the coliseum, restos around the hotel. It has clean room, has the basic necessities,
breakfast has good choices.. The best is that the front desk are very helpful booking our taxi everytime upon needed. They even book and suggest a bigger car going to the cruise port, but i wish they connect with a cleaner/newer van. The travel was good, except the driver is always on the phone and I was concerned on his driving concentration.

Not a deal breaker but I wish there is a life size mirror in the room. There is no towel rack to hang wet towels

Their breakfast was good. It was close to stores and restaurants.
Our room was clean but unfortunately the smell from the sewer was very strong. I told the admin and they sent someone to fix it. It did not help. I had to place a cardboard on the shower drain and placed duct tape around it. I also blocked the basin drain at night and run the shower fan all day. It helped to reduce the smell so I could sleep.
