Bare bones

The location is great and the place is affordable. Aside from those two things, it is really a bare bones place. There wasn't much service. Aside from check-in (which has very limited hours), we never saw an employee. Our towels (which were thread bare) were never replaced, shampoo and soap are not supplied, and the shower is extremely small, like difficult to turn around in small. The room smelled slightly of cat urine. The bed felt like a camping bed. There's no TV in the room to watch after a long day.

Only a few minutes walk to the main tourist attractions of Rome.
Plenty of places to eat and drink.
Room was clean and tidy.

Street is quite noisy.
Cons:
Not much hot water storage so it runs out relatively quickly.
No fan in bathroom so it gets quite stuffy.
Room wasn't ready until ~1.5 hours after they said it would be, and communication to check in was effectively non existent. We had to wait until someone came out, then struggle to find it, then the cleaners had to call the owner. 'it will be ready in 10 minutes' was an hour and a half.

Stay if you are desperate for cheap accommodation

Cheap accommodation with bathrooms.
5 mins to coliseum. Plenty of buses to everywhere. Good and cheap food just across the street. Good water pressure in the bathroom.

Check in is easy. The crew was waiting for us to ring the bell at the main door. Room was big.

Soft bed. Not to our liking. Noisy and busy surrounding. Lousy sound proofing. Couldn’t sleep at night/keep waking up intermittently. Terrible toilet spaces. I’m not sure if Italian are this small. I will upload a pic for this Smurf shower.

We stayed on level 2 ,we had to drag our 25kg bags to level 2 as the lift wasn’t working.We stayed 4 days and our bed linen or towels were not changed once.
The manager we saw once when we arrived by sheer luck so we couldn’t confront him about the issues. Our room also smelled of cat piss .Terrible room , service and conditions,hardly suitable for hire.

Convenient location but worth a second thought

Parking was a mess in Rome. I would not stay downtown again if I had a chance to do it again. Plus, the thieves stole our backpack the first night. Stay outside of downtown and taxi to where you want to visit. It's not worth staying close to the tourist attractions.

The location is amazing, very short walk to the Colosseum, we could actually see it if we poked our head out our room window! Safe area with heaps of food options day and night. Wifi was an extra 3 Euro for our stay however was very strong which meant we could videocall family and upload all our photos with no hassle. Really cannot fault the property. It was perfect for a 3 night stay for us.

I wouldnt call it a hotel, the receptionist was really angry about me arriving after the reception open hours even tough I had emailed them earlier about it. No wifi included. Tried to get in touch with them about a problem I had but they dont even respond. Not a friendly atmosphere.

We had a great trip, the lady who welcomed us to the hotel was very friendly and helpful with how to get to the rugby match, and recommendations of the local area. Beyond that, we had no problems with the room. The shower was very powerful and hot, and location is perfect, 5 mins walk to the Colosseum.

Nice, affordable hotel in a perfect location

The room was clean (someone came in to make the bed each day), relatively basic but a really good size for the two of us. The shower cubicle is quite small but you can't expect too much for the price! The staff are extremely welcoming and are happy to answer any questions (we asked where would be good to eat in the area). What sets this hotel apart is the location - barely a 5 minute walk from the collessuem with good transport links elsewhere in Rome. Definitely recommend you stay here!

great location near the Roman Forum and Colosseum

Overall our stay at the Bundi House was great! The house is just steps away from the Roman Forum, and a short walk to the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. Diana was absolutely great with sharing all the information at check-in (note extra cost for wifi, and tourist tax). The rooms were big, our room had a double bed and a single bed, which was enough of space for 2 people. The little street our window looked out onto could get a little loud at night with all the restaurants and bars, but a pair of ear plugs work just fine.

Due to our activities sleeping on twin beds was easy. New bathroom had one towel bar but two hooks.
Small shower,no lite. Who wastes space today on a bidet? Little room on sink for \"stuff.\" Expected no wash cloths or shampoo, brought my own.. This was not the hotel I paid for in advance, St.Anna was the hotel I paid less for,Hotel.com booked me into the Bondi as they had me booked into a hotel in
France, so refund me the extra amount that I just got billed for.

One of the airlines lost my baggage during the earlier part of my Europe trip and the hotel staff (Diana) assisted to receive it on our behalf (rather than us waiting in the hotel room for it). Diana also patiently explained and guided us throughout the check in and recommended sites for us to visit. They also helped us print boarding passes and booked transport to the airport.

Great stay at San Daniele Bundi - perfect location

The San Daniele Bundi is in a great location, close to the Colosseum of course but also some great places to eat, bars, all the sight-seeing bus stops and other attractions. We were greeted on arrival by Mikayla who was really helpful, and had fantastic local knowledge. Check-in was really straight-forward so we could start enjoying our holiday straight away.

The room was fairly small, and as two girls we had a lot of stuff! The bed was also quite hard, which I found a bit uncomfortable at times. However, the room has air-con, a lovely clean bathroom, wardrobe, desk, mirror, tv, and a fridge so we were perfectly comfortable. In the communal area you can help yourself to toiletries, hairdryer, umbrellas and mugs/cups - a really nice touch.

The shower was temperamental, often running cold without warning, but other than that we had a really pleasant stay. San Daniele was one of the cheapest places in Rome to stay when we booked, and it is really good value for money.

The location of the hotel was fantastic. Walking out the door and looking to the west was the Curia of the ancient Forum of Rome only a block away. How good is that? However, the hotel itself would have been hard to find without a knowledgable taxi driver. There was a very small house sign on the side of the building which was not discernible from across the street. The cabbie had to phone someone to let us in as we arrived after the normal business day. The elevator was a bit challenging as two sets of doors needed to be closed before it would respond to a call. The room itself was small with a shower that challenged one's ability to manouver and the noise from the street below was rather disturbing. Essentially, this is simply a modest pensione that has shaving soap and hair driers in the hall with a very small fridge in the room but a larger fridge in a common space in the hall as well. In short, the price was right given the location, but probably wouldn't stay there again.

the receptionist was very friendly - i only ever saw her as luckily i didn't need anything!

the rooms in this guesthouse are a little basic and could do with some upgrading - the bed wasn't the most comfortable (although i find a lot of mattresses uncomfortable so it could just be me!) and my room was very, very small. but it has a bed and a decent bathroom so if you're only using it as a base it is perfect!

and what a base! this guesthouse is literally around the corner from the colosseum and the roman forum. it's not too far to walk to all the other main sites in rome such as the pantheon, trevi fountain, the shopping districts, etc. it's fairly close to termini and also around the corner from two metro stops. it only takes about 45 minutes to an hour to walk to the vatican too and the weather was perfect when i was there so it was so nice to be within walking distance of it all. there's a few good restaurants and street food places close by too. so the location of this place was simply perfect.

i had so much fun in rome and would definitely recommend this guesthouse for someone looking for a simple room in a perfect location.

my only gripe is that i only had one pillow!

Pros: great location! We were able to walk everywhere. The 2 gals that run the \"hotel\" are very kind and helpful. WiFi worked great (it costs €1 each day).
Cons: this not a hotel. This is a hostel with a bathroom. The staff is there for 8 hours during the day. There is no reception desk.
So somehow I missed what this place really is, I like to stay in hotels. But, if all you need is a place to drop your head at night, it would be fine.

Staff went out of their way to assist and the location absolutely fabulous.

Not a high-end hotel in terms of amenities, but clean and safe. However, it certainly is a 5 star location for sightseers.

Located within 5 a minute walk are the Colloseum, Roman Forum and metro station. Trevi Fountain is a 15 minute casual stroll. However, you can take 1 - 2 hours getting there if you stop at all the points of interest along the way. An awesome walk by any standard. If you are in Rome to see the best sights easily and efficiently, just stay here.

On the same block as the hotel, there is a gelato shop, 2 delis that also sell pizza, 4 very good and affordable restaurants, etc.

The hotel is located near to the Roma Termini train station, we walk from the station to the hotel. The hotel its located in a 2nd floor of a traditional building. The elevator works well. The staff is friendly and they clean the room every day. In the hotel you can also find a kitchen where you can cook. its close to the Coliseum, Foro, and other important historical places, we enjoy our stay.

Great 10 day Rome vacation

My wife and I (both Senior Citizens) stayed for 11 days and our purpose was to exclusively fan out and walk from a central spot and see and feel ancient and medieval Rome, the Vatican, etc. (First trip to Italy following a 10 day Portugal tour.)

San Daniele Bundi House is ideally suited for this thanks to it's location (2 minutes to the Roman Forum, 5 minutes to Coliseum, 30 to 45 minutes walk to other farther sights with lots to see in between.). It is actually a group of rooms within an apartment building sort of like a Bed & Breakfast without the Breakfast part. The room is small but adequate for sleeping after walking upwards of 5 miles everyday. The bed was OK and the view from the room looked out into a typical Italian court yard... it was incredibly peaceful, quiet, and we felt safe. The room and bathroom were cleaned daily and towels changed every 3 days. There was also a small refrigerator in the room for keeping beverages cold. The manager/staff were very courteous and helpful.

Overall, San Daniele Bundi House was a good value relative to its prime location (in the evening we could just have dinner on the same block and walk or sit around and enjoy the sights and sounds of Ancient Rome at night). We enjoyed our stay tremendously.

We suggest the Gelateria several doors to the left for great Home Made Ice cream and the \"Pizza & Mortadella\" store/eatery further down for great Pizza and beer .

Great location!!!!

Great location!!!! It's on a main street surrounded by ancient ruins and restaurants, but the hotels are located in the back that it's quiet at night.
3 euros for WiFi for the whole stay.
The hotel office is only open from 9:00am-3:00pm :( When we looked for them at 2:45pm, they were already gone for the day. When we looked for them at 9:00am, they still hadn't come in. Maybe they were culturally lazy, I am not sure. Whatever you need to ask or resolve, ask when they showed you the room on the first day.
The hotel was supposed to change towels every 3 days, but they never changed any towels for 5 entire days we stayed. Could have requested them to change towels but we were out sightseeing when the office was open.

Perfect location for discovering ancient Rome

Located 5 minutes walk from the all the main attractions of the ancient Rome part of the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful and accommodated our late arrival at the hotel for only a small charge. We were also able to leave our luggage at the premises on our last day for no extra charge.

The room was basic but pleasant, with it's own toilet and shower. You also have use of a communal kitchen area.

Overall a perfect place to stay in Rome and somewhere we would happily stay again.

Super convenient location by the Roman Forum area. Staff was very nice and friendly. Room was very small but clean. Private bathroom included a tiny shower with limited hot water, sink, toilet, and bidet (haha, I thought it was a baby's tub). They combined two twin beds so my boyfriend and I could sleep together. My bed was super mushy, but my boyfriend's was comfortable. I paid for wifi, but it only worked sporadically. It's a little tricky to find. Shares the same entrance as the Hotel Rosetta, but you have buzz to get in, and someone will come get you. The reception is up 3 flights on the left, and it's not marked. We happened to get inside without buzzing because someone left as we arrived. We found the other hotel, which gave us faulty directions to the reception area, so we were wandering around looking for a back entrance. Once we called and got settled in, it was not a problem. Basically, it's a clean, convenient budget hotel for travelers who won't spend much time in their rooms :)

Great location. Makes it feel like a home. This is not a hotel but similar . The reception closes around 4pm. Staff is very friendly and speaks English well. The room is spacious compared to most moderate hotels in rome. If I stay in Rome again I will come here. Will likely post pics on trip advisor.

Diana was really nice but they dont have reception after 3pm so if there is a problem, there is noone to talk to. In our case, the toilet flush takes more than an hr to refil after one use, we thought there was some problem with the flush till the end so that really ruined our visit. Room was also very cramped, barely any place to move and the street its on and is super loud so it was really hard to catch any sleep

Andre was a big help. He picked us up from the airport (fee was a high) but it was very convenient. He explained the city well, provided a map and was friendly. I was hit with a lot of fees including tax, late check-in fee etc. It was unexpected fees but I guess I understand. The room was very small. Literally just the bed and restroom. The hot water is not consistent in the shower. The location is AMAZING though. Literally 5 min walk to the colosseum so it was great. Minus the hidden fees, I would go back if it is only me +1

A dissapointing stay, but great location

Tiny room. Poor service. Left us waiting outside the hotel for ages late at night when we arrived, even though we informed them of our arrival time. Tiny beds. Didnt resemble pcitures. Room smaller than quoted. Very basic, 3* is probably a bit of an exaggeration.

That said, location is great and good access to train station etc.

I, however, will avoid this place next time I'm in Rome.

No sitting in the bathroom.

A clean but basic hotel room. Though I really disliked the bathroom. I am 6' 3\" and it was so small I had to walk sideways in it. My knees would hit the opposite wall if I sat on the toilet which I also had to squeeze by for a shower. There is not free Wifi, there is a nominal fee. On the plus side. The staff was very good. They were very helpful with my questions and talking about the surrounding area. The location was excellent, just a brief walk to the Colosseum.

A Personal Touch in Rome

This place had a great location on a street with shops and restaurants, near the Colosseum and the metro station. It had good air conditioning and wifi service. The room was small, had no dressers for storage and seemed kind of shabby. There was no view and the alley was noisy at times. The bathroom was small especially the shower and had some issues with the shower drain. The toilet handle broke the first day we were there and we were told every day that it would be fixed the next day, but it never was. The tv was ancient and didn't have any English speaking channels. The staff was nice, but they weren't too helpful and the towels weren't changed when they were supposed to be. The price was low, but no breakfast was included and I would have paid more for a nicer place.

The rooms are very small. The elevator was old and you are encouraged to walk to the second floor. Very close to all transportation and many sites. Overall was happy. Andrea was very accommodating.s

Do not stay here

This \"hotel\" does not live up to it's ratings, we had been staying in small European accommodations for over a month with no complaints until we encountered this one, the room was a mix of old discarded furniture, a bed that made loud noises and sagged so badly that 2 people could not sleep in it, wardrobe was something from the rubbish pile and the extra bedding was laying in the dirt on the bottom, the response from the attendant the next day was that they had all these wonderful reviews and did not understand why we didn't love it, nothing they were willing to do oTher than maybe put something under the bed to support it and even that was not for sure. The place is not worth the money, we had booked 6 nights, stayed for one and could not get any refund, stay away from this....

Great location

This hotel was in a great location, very close to the Colosseum. We walked with our bags from the train station and it wasn't too bad. Lots of restaurants nearby too. The only negative is that it was on a busy street and with the windows open it was noisy. Staff was nice and helpful.

Not a hotel just a small room

This is not a hotel of any rating and should not be allowed to be advertised as such. It was merely a tiny very outdated uncomfortable room. Zero facilities. Could not get passed bed. Couldn't get in the bathroom and use door. Bed and decor as old as many of the Rome sights!! Only plus was good location.

Great Location and Good Staff

I arrived at 20.30 and it was good that Andrea picked me up as this was my first time in Rome. It would have been difficult too find the place if i was alone.
Taxi is 48 Euro so his charge of 40 Euro was not bad. He was allegedly not available to take me back to airport and i paid 46 Euro to his friend. I felt this was not good as he had already committed to me and should not have taken the other fare. But i made the choice to still go with his friend as it was safer than taxi >> they add on the kilometers and start to charge for each bag you take.
He provided me with a map and marked out the various sights withing walking distance of the apartment.before arriving he took me on a quick tour of the neighbourhood so i had a good sense of direction of where things are.
If all you need is a clean comfortable bed and clean toilet then this is fine.
Located on 3rd floor with no elevator so not suitable for the old or infirm.

Location is great but don't expect much else

Location is perfect for exploring Rome. You are within easy walking distance of the Forum and the city centre. The hotel, or rooms within a housing complex are basic. Our room was frankly, dangerous - we had an exposed electrical light switch (coming away from the wall) right next to the sink in the bathroom - with an attached extension lead. It was clean, the TV didn't work. We were only in Rome for 3 nights and spent most of the time away from the room - this is definitely on the basic side.

Nice place

We had a great stay at San Danielle. Very friendly folks who run it. The room is a pretty tight squeeze, but had enough space for what we needed. There is no lift and a lot of stairs, so be ready for that. The beds are the only weak point for us- kind of like dorm beds or cots- very springy, with a fairly hard pillow. Shower had nice hot water and closed well! Bathroom seemed to be pretty new and very clean. Location is great. 10 minute walk to the Coliseum! Good restaurants all around. Don't think you need to eat on the busy street. Also, easy to get to the metro to get anywhere you want. Watch for pickpockets!

Amazing location, friendly staff

The location of this hotel was perfect, you could see the Colosseum just by walking down the street. Most other attractions were also very close, and the train station was just a 10 minute walk. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the room as well as the bathroom were in good condition and very cute. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Great location and service

The woman (I forgot her name) was very sweet and welcoming. I didn't know there was a wifi fee of 3 euros but whatever. Our room was comfortable and clean. Not very decorated but it met our needs. No breakfast included. The location was very good - right next to the colosseum and roman forums. Overall great hotel for the price!

After a difficult voyage, the people working at the Bundi house made our stay an amazing one! They were all very helpful going the extra mile to ensure we were settled and happy with our stay in Rome. The location is amazing, close to big sites, especially the Colosseum. The rooms were clean and comfortable, in a quiet little space which made our stay very restful as well.

Good location

The location is perfect, room was clean and tidy. A little bit of downside that the street behind was very noisy if you leave the window open and there was no volume on the tv.

Great location in Monti (restaurants, shops, bars) near the Ancient Roman Ruins and not too far from the Metro, tram, and Termini train station. The room itself was small and in need of substantial cosmetic repairs. Very small bathroom with insufficient towels. Most rooms are not accessibile by elevator, which could raise accessibility issues for elderly and disabled travellers. High price for no-frills accomodation.

This is not a 4 star Hotel and certainly doesn't pretend to be, however its location is as good as it gets.
You are extremely close to the Colloseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
All other attractions are within 15 mins walk apart from the Vatican.
For that you are relatively near Termini Train/Bus station.
The couple running this guesthouse are extremely courteous and helpful.There is also a pick up service on offer which we took as we had a later flight in to Rome and didn't fancy trying to find premises in the dark,taxi's from airport tend to overcharge!
Room's are small and simple with A/C and a safe, we didn't go to Rome to sit in a fancy hotel all day so this suited our needs perfectly.
If you cannot manage 3 flights of stairs this maybe isn't for you and bare in mind you are paying for location location location DO NOT EXPECT a 4 star hotel!!
We would Recommend it purely for location
Only if anything else.
Lots of restaurants on street and would strongly recommmend Chinese Restaurant 5 doors up,great meal and felt the only place which did not fleece us!!

Simple cheap room in great location

The room is small but clean. Someone is only at the desk from 9-2:30 so if you need help you're on your own. I'd stay there again. I saved a lot of money staying there and I was very close to the Colosseum. When someone was at the desk they were always helpful. I'd recommend this place to someone on a budget.

Great location, value and service

Absolutely brilliant. They were very friendly and service minded. They also speak good English. Room was secure, clean and I had lots of light. Also got Rome's best location. Will stay again when going back later on :)

It's a easy living area, and just a 5 min walk to the Colosseum and Piazza Venezia. 10 min to Circus Maximus. Also close to Vatican and the Spanish Steps. There is 2 ATMs next to the hotel, which is per my experience not easy to find.

I spent my evenings at Gran Caffe Cavou restaurant. Just opposite the hotel. Good food, outstanding, and I want to point out again outstanding service, and awesome entertainers. They will go to great length making your stay as positive as possible. You will indeed know something will happen when you hear: \"OMG..\". Don't be shy, TIP well.

A real gem.

This family run mini hotel has 10 rooms total, and I think this is why I said it is a gem because they really are locals of the area who will give you all the pointers and local knowledge, not just to save money but information on all the hidden spots Rome has to offer, and the hotel is literally smack in the middle of all the great attractions. The hotel is closest to the colosseum which is one of our main places we wanted to see. To sum it all up quick, It is: Close to everything, It's cheap, local insights, and it's a homey feeling, like you're staying and visiting your grandma for the weekend in Rome!

Hotel Information is a bit deceiving

Information is a bit deceiving. Stayed there May 2014 (could not get a refund, and I was not going to waste $1161). Management was not interested in client satisfaction, probably because the hotel location is very good so the attitude was of if you don’t like it, I really don’t care. The hotel is an apartment located on a third floor without elevator that has been modified, divided into rooms. There is no front desk. Entrance to the \"hotel\" building is uninviting. Someone is in the \"hotel\" office located in another tower in the same complex from 9 am to 2pm. POSITIVE: excellent location, room was simple but clean, bathroom had a foul smell on arrival that resolved by letting water run, has a safe, and WiFi. NEGATIVE: apartment where the hotel rooms are located is a bit old and has a central common area where items that can be used by guest are located including a phone that has no signal- rooms don’t have phone. Towels changed every 3 days. Soap is a diluted liquid in a container (we bought soap). On arrival air condition control and safety box key were missing. Only way to communicate with administration was via email or to come back to the hotel between 9am and 2 pm. On arrival they told us (no matter the hour) and we saw posted in the wall that airport transportation was 46E, but latter they stated it was 60E because we were leaving 5:40am, and if we didn’t like it we could just find our own transportation. To enter shower you only have 30cm width. There is no breakfast.

Fantastic Location

I would recommend San Daniele to guests who are looking for a room in the centre of Rome. From the booking to the departing everything was great. Very close to the Rail termini, only pay about maximum 20 Euros for a taxi, we naively paid more. The hotel is the second floor, it has a lift which we didn't use but is there for those that need it, people were using it when we were there so serviceable. The hotel is small, more of a flat converted into rooms, all rooms were clean and ours had a shower which was hot and powerful. There is a small kitchen which we used glasses from. Now for the best bit the location. you literally step out of the hotel to the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. We walked everywhere, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican City, Pantheon. It was a lot of walking however there is transport available, The hotel sorted out our taxi transfer to the airport, we left at 6 am however the driver was there waiting for us, easy transfer. Brilliant friendly staff, who spoke English. the place was great. There is only one small downside and this is not the hotels fault but it can be noisy but that is more to do with Rome and the volume of people visiting it. I would recommend this hotel for long weekenders, stop overs or longer, definitely value for money.

Walking distance to metro and historic center

Great location. I was able to walk to coliseum (2 min) and to historic center (10 min). Also 2 blocks away from two metro stations (Cavour and Coliseum). My room faced internal courtyard so it was quiet even though building is on busy street.

Fine for Young People

I was disappointed after reading several positive reviews about this hotel. It feels more like a hostel due to a common area which is shared by several rooms, but this area had a kettle (very dirty), books about Rome, utensils, cups, and other items that might be needed. There were 5 flights of stairs to the room, and as I was traveling with my grandmother, this proved to be a big difficulty. The staff was very friendly and carried bags to our room. The room was very small - the smallest I have ever stayed in and I have been all around Italy and Europe. Noise could be heard from the hallway. There was no heat. There was a small step leading to the bathroom which we kept walking into and hurt our feet. The shower did not drain well and for the three days we were there, there was no hot water. The shower leaves a huge puddle on the floor and towels are not replaced for 3 days. Since staff are only on premises at 9am-2pm, it limits the ability to call them to help with anything. Beds were soft and comfortable, though pillows were like flat sandbags. No curtains. Three keys are needed to enter the hotel and room but they stuck in the door and needed a lot of jiggling. Location was close to Colosseum and I was able to walk to all major sites; it's 7 minute walk to the Colosseum and a one hour walk to the Vatican. Overall, mainly because of the lack of hot water, I would not stay here again.
