This was one of the most beautiful places I have stayed at. Grounds were well maintained and very lush. Staff was very helpful and always willing to go out of their way to make sure you had what you needed. Amazing place and we cannot wait to return. We happened to be there at the same time one of the owners was also there.... Incredible man and you can tell he was a true businessman who cared about his staff, business, very personable and also wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. Greeted every guest and made the time to make you feel comfortable and special. I am so glad we found this hotel on Hotels.com.

My stay at Namu Garden & Spa in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica was absolutely exceptional. The hotel is perfectly located in Puerto Viejo, surrounded by lush tropical nature and just minutes from the vibrant town and the beautiful Caribbean beaches. It offers the perfect mix of tranquility and convenience, making it an ideal place to relax while still being close to everything that makes Puerto Viejo such a special destination.
From the very beginning, the hospitality stood out. A special thank you to the reception team, Alexis and Engel, who were always welcoming, professional, and incredibly helpful. Alexis in particular greeted guests with warmth and positive energy every day, and both he and Engel were always ready to assist with anything needed, making the entire stay smooth and enjoyable.
The restaurant service was another highlight of the experience. Miguel, Anastasia, Daniel, and Jaymark provided outstanding service throughout my stay. They were attentive, friendly, and consistently went above and beyond to make every meal enjoyable. Their great attitudes and attention to detail made dining at the restaurant something I looked forward to every day.
A big part of what makes this hotel so special is the leadership of Douglas, the manager. His dedication to guest satisfaction is evident in every aspect of the property, and it’s clear he has built a fantastic team that truly cares about the experience they provide. Thank you to everyone at Namu for making this experience great!

Namú Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful property perfectly located just a five-minute walk from Black Beach and close to the downtown Puerto Viejo shopping area. It’s also conveniently near several charming coastal towns. The grounds are exactly as pictured on the website….lush, tropical, and very well maintained.
The food was very good, and overall the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. The staff was mostly helpful and friendly, special thanks to Sophia and Pamela for their kindness and assistance throughout our stay. They also helped us easily book all of our excursions. However, one staff member, Jordy, did seem a bit aggravated and dismissive at times, which was disappointing compared to the otherwise warm hospitality.
If I could offer a few suggestions for improvement, it would be to add air conditioning units to the living areas in the villas or Nimu House, as only the bedrooms have them. The bedroom pillows were very firm, so if you have neck issues, you might want to bring your own. The living room furniture only seats two and isn’t very comfortable, which makes watching TV (there isn’t one in the bedrooms) a bit difficult. The patio furniture, while stylish, could also be more comfortable. Additionally, the hotel does not offer assistance with luggage to or from the units, which can
be challenging depending on where your room is located.
All in all, Namú Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, with a great location and plenty of charm

This property is gorgeous, and the staff is fantastic. The free breakfast (which you can also do as room service) was such a nice perk - I will miss the daily fresh-squeezed starfruit juice. We had a fantastic couples massage. I loved that there were several little spaces on the property where you could hang out away from your room. It is a little off the beaten path, but walkable to all of the restaurants and shops. We had a great stay.

I had my very own swim pool. The pool for everybody was absolutely beautiful! This is a 10 out of 10 property and stay. I highly recommend and definitely will be back!

Check in was delayed because they couldn’t find our Expedia reservation. Never really got a nice and hot shower, which was odd for a luxury hotel. Now the good… everything else was simply divine and we’d return in a heartbeat 💗 Thank you Namu and shout out to restaurant staff. Delightful!

I stayed at namu garden in June 2025 and had a lovely experience. My bungalow and the property were immaculately clean and well cared for. The private plunge pool was cleaned daily by the staff, removing particles from all the tropical plants and insects that might have gathered during the night. The property is conveniently located near two grocery stores and a fruit stand so you can easily grab snacks and refreshments for your room. You're a 5 minute walk away from the closest beach as well as the touristy beach shops. The staff at the hotel, we're super friendly and helpful. I was slightly disappointed as I thought the pictures indicated that the bungalows had a bathtub however, my room only had a shower. I really liked the daily WhatsApp messages from the hotel staff and chef with the daily specials. I traveled solo and felt perfectly safe the entire time.

Service was outstanding, the suite was very nice and clean. Sofia at the front desk, Karin at the bar and Maria the waitress were all so very accommodating and just so friendly. I developed the stomach ache on the second day and everybody in the hotel seemed to know about it, asking me how I was feeling & wishing me well. The chef even made a chicken soup for me (no soups on menu) which was very tasty and super helpful for me to feel better. Definitely would return.

Namu Garden, Hotel and Spa is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

Great location in Limon. Close to the ocean, shopping and dinning and any excursion you want to do.

The staff at the Namu are incredibly great, Sofia who works at the front desk is a super star. She helped with any questions we had about anything. Super friendly and really cares about making people feel welcome at the hotel.

Jessica and Chef Esteban were always suggesting great food to eat at the restaurant.
The free breakfast isn’t like any free breakfast I’ve had. It’s gourmet. Made with local ingredients and every morning was delicious.

The grounds are lush and beautiful with wildlife running around. Incredible to see. The rooms are out of this world. We stayed in a suite which made he stay even better. Huge room with a pool and a place to lounge all from just outside of your room.

All the amazing people who work here make you feel like you’re on the show white lotus. They know your name and room number so if you have any questions they call you by your first name. They make the time to have conversations with you and are outstanding doing what they each do.

Namu’s app is a great resource, it works great and is informative about everything the hotel has to offer. It’s in a very walkable, safe area where we walked late at night and felt very secure. Book this hotel and you won’t regret it.

We had such a wonderful stay at Namu Garden & Spa! The location is beautiful—just a short walk to the beach and right in the heart of town, but it still feels peaceful and tucked away. The food was absolutely delicious, and everything about the space felt thoughtful and well cared for.

What really made the experience special, though, was the staff. They were incredibly kind and helpful every step of the way—super responsive on WhatsApp and always willing to go the extra mile. The property was very quiet and calming. It rained the entire duration I was there so that made it even more pristine. Everything is walkable outside of the property. It’s not far from convenience stores, scooter rentals, night life & a small beach. The property itself is very clean. There is always someone maintaining it. The rooms are very clean as well. I love that it was adult only which made it more relaxing. The massages were very relaxing. They are done outdoors near the pool behind room divider & curtains, giving much privacy. My only issue was transportation back to the airport. My driver must have had issues, but fail notify the myself or the hotel. The manager was kind enough to find a last-minute driver so we wouldn’t miss our flight. Franchise was a great help in getting me squared away before the trip. All my questions and concerns were answered. I’d definitely visit this place again.

This is the perfect place to stay if you're looking for relaxation and nature in a gorgeous setting. It's so incredibly zen here, from the design and layout to the sounds of many local birds. The breakfast which is included is SO well prepared, it was such a beautiful way to start the day each morning! The french toast is a must have, probably the best I've ever had which was so unexpected. Their cappuccinos are delicious, and definitely order the mixed juice too! We also had a massage and it was deeply relaxing thanks to Hazel and Danni! All of the staff are genuine and hospitable. Truly such an experience. We cant wait to go back!

EXCELLENT all around. Compares VERY favorably to our favorite resort hotels in Malaysia in ambience, comfort, uniqueness and superb staff. Food was first-rate, service to match. MANY great beaches a short drive away (esp. Punta Uva), great people, TOTALLY SAFE environment . So sorry to have to leave after 5 wonderful nights! Also do NOT miss their Spa and Massage services. Much less crowded than Pacific coast beaches - a major plus if you are not keen on \"party beaches\" and elbow-to-elbow hotels. We would return whenever possible. ONE negative - the additional cost for our son to stay in our \"Family Suite\" was overly high.

Lovely and tasteful hotel. The hotel design resonates with what I am after on holiday: boutique, minimal chic. Lovely gardens and cozy pool and spa area.
The staff is really friendly. I read somewhere in the past that they did not offer water in the rooms. They now have filtered water 24/7 at the disposal of all guests. The morning breakfast is the just the right amount of food, and I appreciate having several options instead of a buffet style breakfast.
My only hiccup will be the following: I tried to book some activities and was told that they would not take place given 1-May was a public holiday.

What an absolutely amazing hotel. From the time I booked, they were always in contact with me, easy to reach at all times. They recommended 2 fabulous excursions. The hotel offers a free breakfast off the menu which is scrumptious and fresh.
The entire space is an Oasis. A 4 min walk to the beach and the main strip with all the bars and restaurants you could want.
The hotel staff were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to making our stay beautiful. On the morning of our departure, we had a 4:30am pickup and they made us coffee and sandwiches to take with us.
I highly recommend this hotel in Puerto Viejo. Gracias por tudos Namu

The staff make this boutique hotel special. Otherwise, it would be just another decent property. You are out in the country, so expect lots of animals and unpaved roads and sidewalks. The beach across the street is downright ugly, but this hotel is lovely and with decent food. Getting here is a nightmare! Do not fly into San Jose, unless you have a flight to Limon, as well.

I had a good experience at Namu. The hotel looks new and very well maintained. The service is great all over and they do make you feel special. It is probably one of the nicest hotels in Puerto Viejo.

Areas to improve: the pool needs more loungers as they get filled up very quickly; also some of the top floor master rooms are noisy, can hear everything the neighbours are doing and they need some work to seal the noise.

This is an elegantly designed brand new hotel which is well laid out and convenient to the center of Puerto Viejo. We enjoyed our stay but were shocked that the hotel did not provide drinking water to its guests. When we checked in we were told the faucet water was not drinkable so we would need to buy water bottles to fill at a water filtration center in the restaurant. I did so in town but was shocked that an expensive and stylish hotel
would not provide at least one bottle of drinking water. It was possible to pay $5 for mineral water in the rooms. But for travelers in a hot and humid country a small amount of drinking water seems a basic right. I needed to bring the water bottle to meals (where water was also not provided) since I needed to take medications. The hotel would provide refills on cappuccinos but not a glass of filtered water! I complained about this to the manager, who was friendly and waived the cost of bottled water but he would not budge on this crazy policy.

Great boutique hotel, walking distance to all the amenities Puerto Viejo has to offer. We had a bungalow with our own pool which was fabulous. Service was excellent, as was breakfast which was included. My only complaint...two cappuccinos cost $18 CAD...ridiculous...

This resort is beautiful as pictured! Let me start by saying Francesca was a 12/10! I had many questions due to the location of this hotel. There’s no easy way to get here we flew into San Jose then had to take another flight to Limón and then take a cab to the hotel! A lot of time and a lot of money however the hotel has nothing to do with that! Francesca looked up the flights to Limón also had a van waiting for us she was helpful, patient and explained everything well. We communicated through whats app and she answered me quickly and throughly. The resort is very clean, very tranquil. The food was good and there are a lot of places within walking distance if you want to try local food. The beach is walking distance and easy to navigate. All I can say is be ready to spend alot of money traveling to get to this hotel. When you arrive you will have peace and quiet, the staff is great!

Namu Garden Hotel & Spa is a beautiful hotel, the grounds are really nice. Its more like bohemian style. Our room, bungalow 5 was really nice especially if you like living out in nature with geicos. Not me. It's just not my thing!! I don't do any bugs in my living space!!! They (not one) made plenty of noises at night. The AC worked well at night but still wasn't cool during the day as i would have liked. No toiletries in the room, no pen or paper, no phone, or kleenex. Ladies! The lighting is poor so applying any makeup (if you wear it) would be like guessing what you look like. But to top it off!! If they feel they are unable to clean your linens, you will be charged. They charged me $16 US dollars for 1 pillow case because there was makeup on it from sweating in a 85 degree room after trying to nap before I wash my face. I'm sure they make alot of money from that. I was told if there are red stains, you can forget it. Those days are over for me, lol. Food was ok. Breakfast is free. Location was great. Overall not bad, just not my cup of tea.

The most beautiful hotel in a serene setting with everything you could hope for a comfortable stay. The manager and staff made us feel welcome from the moment we checked in. We were delighted to spend our honeymoon here in one of the private bungalows. The hotel arranged all our excursions with seamless communication. The hotel is perfectly located to walk to the restaurants, shops and beaches of Puerto Viejo. Oh and the food in the hotel is to die for!

The resort was very nice. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food is not what we expected, being that we were on the Caribbean side of the country. The resort food had beautiful presentation but the actual taste was very bland and not a lot of choices. They do have some cool things to see on the property from animals to fruits.

We had the best time here. The property is beautiful and modern and the plunge pool at our bungalow was great. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and made sure our trip was great.
You can walk to the town of puerto Viejo within minutes and be Oceanside in no time.

The property was beautiful and most of the staff were great however restaurant morning staff needs improvement. Took forever after being seated before you got drinks and they give very small coffee cups and literally never once refill them. I had to keep going to the bar for my wife and I to ask for refill. Server would walk right by table, should see coffee cups were empty and refill but they didn’t. Also breakfast was very light and very fufu. Maybe include heartier options for people that like a big full breakfast. Drink prices were high compared to other establishments in the area as well. Overall great spot to stay.

Namu is a small but beautiful resort just a few blocks out of Puerto Viejo. It is a perfect private stay for those who desire a romantic getaway with the opportunity to explore. They offered great day trips and strong air conditioning. Shower pressure wasn’t great.
