Behavior of the Front Desk staff. We were there on a special occasion. A request for a free drop to Airport was denied as well as the discount they offered was not honored at the Spa stating it’s not part of the hotel - the one inside the hotel. Language was another huge barrier.

This hotel is definitely not 5 star! Run down, cockroaches in the lobby and in the bedroom. Breakfast was terrible, had rancid butter, decided not to eat there the next 2 mornings although included. Went to eat at the restaurant on the first night but changed our minds when we were ignored and saw the bugs. We asked to check out early, but because we booked non refundable they said nothing could be done. The view to the beach is obscured by hawker stands and a large branch fell off the tree and nearly hit us Our son who lives in Thailand was shocked how bad it was , especially when he found out what we paid. At checkout no one even asked if we had enjoyed our stay, not the usual Thai hospitality

The hotel has a great location, pool area and beach.
However, the morning buffet breakfast, Included in room rate, does not meet up to other 5 star hotels where I have stayed.
Also, I believe the hotel is about 20 years old and is showing its age. Some of the landscaping needs work, the walls on the many walkways need to be maintained and small things in the rooms. In my room the bathroom sink faucet would rotate a bit when turning it on or off and the bathroom exhaust did not work. Mainly just a lot of small things that detract from a 5 star rating. Therefore I have to give the hotel 4 stars for now, but it could become a 5 star hotel again.

Dusi a beautiful beachfront location, but it falls short of 5-star expectations. The standout feature is the amazing staff, who are always helpful, smiling, and attentive, greatly enhancing the overall experience. The Club Rooms are nice, comfortable, and well-serviced, though they need some renovation soon. However, the absence of a coffee machine in the Club Rooms seems strange by today's standards, especially with only instant coffee and a thermos(!) provided. (Comical update: After this review was published, and just two days before our departure, the coffee machine was finally delivered to our room—but without a single coffee pod, either paid or complimentary.)

The Club benefits are significantly below standard compared to other clubs I've experienced, and the breakfast, while nice, is limited. The Club lounge has no air-conditioned space, making it questionable to enjoy drinking alcohol in tropical 35°C temperatures. Additionally, the smoking policy is outdated, allowing people to smoke everywhere outside, which often results in needing to sit near smokers in the pool area or on the Club balcony. The Club experience is so much below other hotels and resorts that it is not worth paying extra for it here.

Poolside service strangely is not available at all, but you can visit the cafe near the pool or purchase beverages from the local vendor operating on the beach outside the resort's boundaries. Please note that the poolside towels are extremely old and have numerous ho

In the lap of luxury in a dream paradise

Dusit Thani is definitely above the market standards for Phuket, yet quite reasonably priced (we came off season).

Our net-based hotel booking service made a significant error but, despite understandably sticking to its advertised no-refund policy, the hotel came up with a solution that was very acceptable to us and gave us a better holiday than we could have hoped for.

The included breakfast was world class and exceptional variety.

It is the staff that make or break a resort, and the staff here are well selected and well trained.

The resort opens into a 6km beach, with other resorts in both directions. But ours was cleanest, no rubbish in the sand even after a storm.

Dusit Thani is some distance from the major tourist attractions, but that makes the area safer to walk. And taxis are a small cost to pay for staying in a quiet safe area.

Probably the best and most reasonable overall hotel on beautiful Bang Tao beach. Sprawling building in a park-like setting. Most rooms shady with a distant view of the water (ocean or laguna). Nice swimming pool and four restaurants to choose from. Never a shortage of beach loungers. Friendly staff at all levels. Special thanks to Ms. Waraporn at Laguna Cafe for being attentive, friendly and professional in meeting all our daily needs there. The property is somewhat isolated and a trip to stores and restaurants in the nearby community requires a taxi or a hotel-provided shuttle plus a healthy walk.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at a hotel, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory due to the dampness and unpleasant odor in the room.

After I woke up, the dampness seemed to linger in the air and on the floor. The walls and furniture felt moist to the touch. The bedding and linens also seemed affected by the humidity, as they felt damp and clammy. This excessive moisture not only affected the room's ambiance but also posed potential health concerns. Moreover, there was the persistent bad smell that permeated the room.

That morning, I notified the hotel staff about the problems I encountered. They seemed aware of the issue and told me that it was due to my adjustment of the air con temperature.

Sprawling old-style, grand hotel located roughly in the middle of beautiful Bang Tao beach. Surrounded by numerous palm and Casuarina trees hotel provides lots of shaded areas for loungers both around the pool and near the beach. Nice Thai-inspired design , clean, comfortable rooms, several good restaurants. Wonderful staff at all levels. Because of numerous trees rooms are a bit dark, but this may be a plus during hot, sunny days. Hotel is very busy with young, European families with small children. While they are generally well behaved, this is not a perfect place for older clientele seeking peace, personal space and silence.

There was a little shopping area in walking distance which was very convenient.

More attention required on the finer details in the bathroom (grout, bathtub etc) but overall the room was very spacious, had everything required and the bed was extremely comfy.

You’re also in walking distance to the town so would recommend doing that. Also eat locally!! Better price than the hotel and amazing food

It’s difficult reviewing a property during challenging times. Children were left unsupervised, and double-handling food, in the buffet area. Who should be responsible - parents, staff or both? Some aspects of the property looked a little tired, but it’s been tough times everywhere. We enjoyed a relaxing time and the staff were helpful and friendly. The pool villas are spacious, quiet and you are not disturbed by anything.

The common areas of this property are stunning. The glass and wood structure is amazing, particularly when viewed at night from the pool area. My room, facing the lagoon, was nice albeit a bit dated. The staff is excellent as is expected at Dusit properties. Note that you will not get as much room for your money as, for example, the Cassia which is the next hotel over on the lagoon. But the Dusit is on the beach and the Cassia is not. Also Cassia has a less formal atmosphere. If you want classic old school Thai charm then Dusit is a wonderful place.

This is listed as a VIP hotel and we have gold status. They said no upgrades were available even though there were plenty of rooms available - we left it as they obviously seemed not too happy that we asked (this is a stark contrast to the other hotels we've stayed at that noted our status from our booking form). Upon arrival the electricity was out for our room. It took about an hour after check in as no one came the first time we called for assistance/ maintenance. Kind of felt like we were made to feel bad about asking about VIP benefits as we had mostly bad/ average service for the rest of our stay (we were there for 5 nights). We spent most of our time out or at the beach so had a great time anyway. The location is amazing and the water beautiful. The staff member by the banana beds was a total legend and very helpful as was another man at reception!

First you need to know there is 1 pool not 2 as the description it’s split slightly but in essence 1 pool.
The hotel is not 5 star in anyway at all, whilst we visited post covid the service that you expect from 5 star is not available at Dusit Thani.
The rooms are very tired - we got upgraded due to a few issues but even the suite was extremely tired.

Service in the restaurants - very very slow and even after asking numerous times for coffee at breakfast failed to arrive on occasions
Beach is stunning! This is the only hotel in this area with direct beach access I think! Shame they do not offer drink service or indeed any service on the beach.
Lots of local stall sellers (Anna is amazing and made our holiday with her friendliness and drinks)
Much nicer hotels that offer all the 5 star extras you expect in Thailand- no cold towel on arrival no welcome drink just evident they have not prepared for full capacity and 5 star service

The hotel is exceptional. The staff can not do more for you. I continually extended my stay due to how lovely the hotel and location was. If you wanted you could easily spend the entire holiday at the hotel as there is so much to do. If not the town is a short walk away.

A local told us that this property is 30 years old and it definitely shows. The location and grounds are lovely. The staff are excellent. But the rooms and building are falling apart. We had to move rooms after the first night due to an excessively loud air conditioning unit.

We stayed 2 weeks here as part of the Phuket Sandbox program, when in Thailand we live in our apartment 6 km away. Being a business traveler I usually stay in 50 hotels per year yet none of them match the service I found at Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket. When entering our Premier Beachfront room we find a beautiful floral decoration on the bed, “ Welcome Mr Barrett”, this meant a great deal to me and made me feel very special. I have never seen staff and managers so well trained and so eager to assist in any way possible. The girl in the restaurant bar greeted us with her name, ‘I am Number 2” which then led to us finding a way to remember other staff members by number. Two concierge’s have been here most of their working life, we have ‘Number 34” and “Number 24” with 34/24 being the amount of years they have served this resort being a reflection of how well Dusit Thani must care for their staff. At dinner on day 3 a lady approached us asking if we would give feedback on our stay and do we have any issues with the resort, she was the “customer service manager”. I have never seen this in any other hotel. The main restaurant manager and staff were lovely and the food was excellent. Many thanks from us both to everyone involved, keep up the good work and brilliant 5 star service.

Here's what I liked and disliked about my stay at the Dusit Thani Hotel:

1. The pool is rather small as compared to those of other hotels in the area. As there is no designated adult pool, it was also loud when kids are playing in it.

2. The beach is mediocre and dirty. Not as well maintained as it should be. The waves were too strong, so not swimmable when we were there.

3. The rooms were spacious and modern. But we didn't get a free upgrade as we should have as Expedia VIPs, so I was rather disappointed.

4. Breakfast buffet is absolutely horrible for a Dusit Thani branded hotel. Small selection and low quality. There should really be a much more generous selection of everything, starting with the fruit, juice, cold cuts and bread selection.

5. The location of the hotel - the Laguna area - is great, however. You are only ~ 2 km away from the Boat Avenue, which is the main strip with all nice restaurants, bars, spas and shops in the area. So an easy 100 THB (= $3) taxi ride. We spent most of our evenings in that area and had dinner and drinks at the many good restaurants there.

We visited Phuket as the first \"sandbox\" tourists, so figured we should share a few tips:

Don't book anything before you get your Certificate of Entry pre-approval. For that, you need only the health insurance and vaccination certificates. Once you have it, you need to get SHABA certificates from the hotel, pre-pay 3 COVID-19 tests (= $300), flights, etc. So not an easy process.

It was a wonderful stay. The hotel graciously upgraded my room to the ocean front view (I didn’t request) during this quiet week. Staff members throughout the hotel are genuinely friendly and helpful. The hotel may not be the newest but the service and ground are impeccable. The pool is really nice, and there is a kid section.

My room had ocean view. The staff was extremely welcoming, kind and polite. There is a spa which i highly recommend for their massaged but also the body conditioners specially after tanning. The place is cery clean and i felt safe at all times. Their shuttle services are quick. Being by the beach its awesome and they have a great bar and restaurants walking distance. I hope to be able to return soon.

We were staying at the connectiong rooms, one of the room (room no. 152) the walk-in shower is leaking seriously, the other room (room no. 153) the door of the walk-in shower can't close we need to use the rubbish bin and laundry basket to fix the door while we took shower and the saftey box can't lock, we asked the staff to find the technician to fix it but nobody come. The second night when my girl using the hair dryer and I boil the water by the electric kettle at the same time suddenly the TV, electric kettle and hair dryer all off can't use, the receptionist asked the technician to come and fix it but not work, the reception said we can't use the electric kettle and the hair dryer at the same time what answer is it and what resort is it??? Next day, the hotel change and other rooms to us, just better than before but all the phones in 2 rooms is not work, we need to asked the technician to come again. Also, the receptionist which on duty the morning shift on Dec 18 are very unhelpful. The staff at the poolside bar and restaurant are very good and helpful. I am the loyalty
Dusit fans, the Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket is the worst resort I never met in the DUSIT Group.

Our room was had a great sea view and we were just a few meters away from the beach. They had a lake on one side with free jetty and a sea on the other side. Awesome experience for us as a couple.

I really love this hotel. I have been to Phuket a few times and stayed at different resorts but so far, my experience with Dusit Thani was the best. The place is really beautiful. I loved it that our Club Room is really just near the beach. The complimentary services bundled with our room were very satisfactory! The resort is huge that you still can have some privacy even there are other guests. My experience was so great that I will stay at Dusit again when I go back to Phuket.

Great property, but careful with events happening

This is without doubt a top property in every sense in the Laguna area. Beautiful, nice care and great facilities. And I would have given them a fully 5 star rating if they would have not messed with us on our departure.
Long story short, make sure to query them if there is any event going to happen during your stay that will affect the road access to the Laguna area. This could be critical issue and could lead you to miss your flight.
On our departure day, there was a marathon in the entire Laguna and they closed every access outside towards the main roads in the island. There was absolutely zero notice whatsoever in the property, no one mentioned anything to us, and no one of the guests knew this was going to happen on that date. Our driver could not get in to pick us and drive us to the airport, and we lost almost an hour until we managed to get to our driver, walking for several kilometres with the only help of the police and the staff of the Hilton hotel! Yeah incredible, because Dusit Thani offered us zero help and did not care about us.

Great location for seclusion. Beachfront property. The beach is not crowded, of which I preferred. Friendly and attentive staff. Unless you plan to join tour programs that include hotel pick up, and they typically come with, renting/ hiring a car is a more independent alternative.

This was our perfect romantic vacation; the room was wonderful and clean, breakfast was great, plus afternoon tea and before dinner cocktail (included). very quiet and peaceful hotel and beach. one downside was that we paid for a club room; ground floor, and direct beach access, but got a room with more restaurant view than the beach, we asked to change, and after two nights they found us a much better view room. this ended up to be the best 7 nights vacation ever. would love to go back.
