Great staff,any minor problems were take care of immediately. Breakfast buffet is the perfect start to get you through the better part of the day. Unfortunately the rooftop is presently closed for renos, mind you only one day out of my week it warm enough. Location couldn't be better...older part of town near the bridge and transit essy to walk anywhere...so much better than all the plastic surgery victims staggering around the 5th avenue /hugo boss area up higher.

I’ll try to be the most impartial person I can. Unfortunately I booked it for 3 nights and I could stay only one, I’d to find another place to spend the rest.

If you are traveling solo and/or really don’t mind for a nice room to accommodate you, it’s a nice place to be and close to everywhere. In my case I believe that was more into expectations I had before.

The room was super small, the mattress had a deep in one of the sides, being uncomfortable to sleep.
The bathroom wasn’t as described correctly and didn’t have enough fotos in the ad. It was literally an appendix inside the room with a glass to protect. In addition the shower cab was super tight for a 1.85m person and had no light and no window.
Breakfast, super disappointing. I paid for it and had to pay again to get a scrambled egg. On top, breads were like the leftovers from the previous day.
Lastly, the windows were not protecting at all the noise from outside, making my night worse.

I approached the reception and they offered me another room but literally with the same layout of toilet, room and breakfast. I refused and booked another hotel.

The street noise in front of the hotel is excessive; frequent cars lay on their horns all night long. The hotel windows do very little to mitigate this. Almost no sleep was had for two nights. The mini fridge would not stay on and the TV had no signal. Plus, the heavy glass shower door is stuck on the concrete sill at the bottom and makes a terrible noise if moved. No showers were taken over two days. The good things that can be said: close to metro and Galata tower, friendly staff, nice breakfast room with decent breakfast.

This place was really loud at night. Also there are no screens so there were bugs biting us that were coming in the open window that is was the only ventilation because there was no AC.
The location was very central and great for walking and wandering the tourist shops and restaurants.

I want to use all my words as efficient as I can to keep this review short for those who need. One star goes to horrible quality (wasted, broken, must refreshed) of the bed! I knew room was tight and bathroom even tighter but multiple futures of the bathroom was out of use, fully custom made (try to made) tiny bathroom was a pain but even bigger pain was the response from the receptionists. They were so unpleasant to intake the problem and absolute zero solution to change the bed. I didn’t even mention all other problems in the room that needs help but bed! I had to stay for three nights but it hurts even more to see people behind that small reception letting you know administration of the establishment do not care. I told them about the problems in the room three times and added that be ready for a very sad but true review. I do not recommend Galatahan.

Check in was easy and the location is great! Shower door in our room didn’t really close and the first night the AC went out, however; that issues was quickly resolved. The breakfast was a pretty great way to start off day, which getting anywhere from here was very easy due to the close public transportation. I’d recommend the hotel if you don’t mind some minor issues.

Would definitely recommend this hotel if staying in Istanbul
The value for money here is insane - for such an affordable hotel, the rooms were clean, modern, spacious, great mirrors & lighting, many plug sockets & storage options. Fresh water bottles are brought to your room everyday too
Breakfast is included which was great
The location was our favourite thing for sure though - just below the Galata Tower, the street has some beautiful buildings and cafes as you walk down. Just a stones throw is the beautiful main cobbled walkway down from the tower which has so many food options too
The main road could be noisy but honestly once the windows were closed we had no trouble sleeping at all, the beds were so comfy which certainly helped too!

Great hotel would 100% stay again

I was arrived at 4 PM, I took room number 12 and I immediately informed the guy that the air conditioning is not working, it took them more than 6 hours until 11:30 PM to change to room number 26 which I was extremely tired, the guy in the reception (night shift is rude) the room is very very small like 8 meter maximum. No bathroom door or ventilation, you can smell the Shi.. in the room.

Very terrible experience and doesn’t worth value of money.
- windows are not properly closed - noisy at night
- room smelling is bad
- unprofessional treatment by reception guy at night - he asked me to sleep by keeping windows open because the AC is not working with huge sounds and mouskitos

The breakfast is okay but is not no special at all.

I don’t recommend it with 50+ USD - maximum worth a 25 USD per night

I would not recommend staying at Galatahan Hotel based on our recent experience. After asking for help multiple times with our room, we were informed by the receptionist that none of the air conditioning units in the building were working, as the hotel had not switched from heating to cooling due to the weather, even though it was 75° outside. The temperature in our room reached 86°F (30° C) at night, and despite opening the windows, it was completely unbearable. We asked the front desk for assistance or a room change and were met with complete refusal. We even requested someone come to the room to help us figure out the unit, and that was also denied. At no point were we offered an alternative room or a working A/C unit.
Ultimately, we had no choice but to book another hotel — not because we “had to leave early,” as the hotel falsely claimed in response to our refund request, but because basic comfort and hospitality were not provided. The hotel later stated that the A/C was working and that we declined a room change, which is simply not true. My partner was present throughout the entire interaction, and we both stand by our account.
To make matters worse, the hotel refused to issue a refund, even though the booking was made in good faith with the expectation of standard amenities and customer service, both of which were clearly lacking.
I appreciate the travel agency’s efforts to advocate for us, but sadly, Galatahan Hotel refused to take any responsibility.

This place is in a fantastic location! You can easily walk to all the main attractions in the city centre.

There are loads of great restaurants and bars nearby, which means it can get a bit lively and hard to get a good night’s sleep (especially on a Saturday night). Nonetheless, the hotel has a lovely rooftop with stunning views of the city and the Galata Tower.

The breakfast (8:00 am to 10:30 am) changes every day, so you get to try different Turkish flavours. I wish they had some international options too, though.

The staff were super friendly and attentive, and they made us feel right at home. There’s always someone to greet you at the door and to offer you local tips.

The staff seemed friendly. The AC worked well. The internet went in and out. Even when I had it it was one bar. The room was old and dingy and I have bug bits all over my arms and legs. There was some bug (not bed bug) in the bedding and it was relentless. The bed was a lump and I felt I was sleeping on springs. My back and neck are worse for ware.

Stayed in the hotel for one week and I wish I choose a different one. It’s not the worst but it’s not the greatest either. It’s in a good location for tourism but it’s on a noisy street with a lot of construction. The room was not the best, the walls were peeling, the ac smelled bad for a couple of days, sink was loose, door for bathroom made a loud popping noise ever time you open a close. Staff for cleaning and kitchen were amazing. The staff at the front desk are not attentive, mind you I was there for 6 days 5 nights and did not help with luggage at all.

No the best Customer Service Experience.

Great Location and great breakfast. However, as soon as we put our feet into the building, we started to experience not the best customer service. The service was not as expected. I will start to mention that the from desk person at check in is not a good listener, he is rude. I decided ignored his as I don't really want to spend time arguing with an unhappy person, especially after a long fly. I let my husband to deal with him. We booked a Family suite, the room is very well designed but was not totally clean, the cover bed on the master room was not clean. Seems like they didn't change it from the last guess. and we decide not to use it. Also, during our 5 days 4-night stay, they didn't change the beds sheets. They only change the towels. I did the request to change the bed sheets to one of the housekeeping and unfortunately seems like they didn't understand due to language barrier. The lights in the main room and main bathroom never work, we asked multiples times to see if someone can come and fix it and it never happens, the excuse was the Eid Holiday and that people from maintenance was in vacation, which it was acceptable for the Eid day but not for the rest of our days. We have to use our kiddos room to shower and to do everything that needs light (make up, fix our hair, etc). I also provide the feedback to the from desk person and seems like he didn't care.

Staff was helpful and reached out ahead of my stay to help arrange transportation from airport. Everyone was kind and helpful. The hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. My room was upgraded and had a nice view. Breakfast was good. The room was small, as I expected. The neighborhood was safe with easy access to Galata Tower (currently under construction), Taksim, Sultanhamet, Galataport and Ferries. I used public transportation and had a great experience.

The worst experience I had at GALATAHAN hotel. First they refused to change dates as my flight was delayed for 1 day. Despite Expedia reminding through email. They didn’t compensate. The room toilet was open and no privacy. All night we were disturbed noise coming from street as windows were not closing properly. At 12 checkout time reception started calling to leave the room in a harsh way. I will never recommend this place to anyone to stay

Good value for Money in Galata

The hotel is conveniently located in Galata, close to both the tower and Karakoy/Galata bridge.
The room was spacious enough, however the windows are not double-glazing therefore the noise was quite pronounced especially late in the evening, since the window was over a main street with noise throughout the night.
Continental breakfast was decent, no European style coffee (only filter and Turkish coffee).
Level of cleanliness fair.
Overall good value for money at the price I paid.

Room air conditioning fan stopped working randomly every night and reception wasn't able to fix it. No spare fan provided.

I think for the price I paid it exceeded my expectations. Room is clean, comfortable and has all the amenities needed for a short stay. They bring two bottles of water every day.

Breakfast was an added bonus. Pretty good Turkish style breakfast and they change one or two options each day.

The location is really good, 5 mins walk to Galata bridge and various food places around also and a really good jazz club.

Staff were pretty friendly, especially the guy working at night time during my stay, had a few conversations with him.

Overall very impressed with my stay and highly recommend.

1- The room was not cleaned properly, there was hair in the shower and a dirty plastic glove on the floor.

2- The rooms are very small. The bathroom area was so small that it was actually hard to use!

3- The kettle in our room was also broken!

4- The receptionist told us that they do dry cleaning so my partner gave them a suit that he was supposed to wear to a wedding. They ruined the suit! They basically put it in a laundry machine!! They also took no responsibility for it and wouldn’t even give us a refund.

5- The breakfast is meh! And it gets extremely loud at night during the weekend!

The hotel rooms are comfortable and are cleaned everyday. The breakfast is excellent and changes everyday. The staff are all excellent and very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much

It’s a nice hotel conveniently located with stunning views of the Bosphorus. At a very reasonable price, very well maintained and the staff are helpful and polite. I would personally make a few changes to their breakfast which can be a bit basic, they give you boiled eggs every day but they shouldn’t mix this up by doing scrambled eggs on one day omelettes on another day and do some grilled hellim as well, these are all very cost-effective ways of adding More choice to basic breakfast.

This hotel is exactly what we needed for a week while we explored the city with my family abs held a massive family wedding dinner. The facility was conveniently located, clean and updated elements. The rooms could use an iron and ironing board. Additionally, the door to the shower, which also served as the door to the bathroom (which is totally cool, actually) made a terrible cracking sound due to a misalignment. These are small things though. I’d definitely stay here again. The breakfast is top notch every day! We accidentally left the safe open and the cleaning staff took a picture and told us right away, and left everything as is, which was totally appreciated, since it was absolutely our mistake. This was very conscientious of the hotel. Definitely a good place to stay!

This hotel had everything I needed. Exceeded my expectations actually. The only thing is they end breakfast very early so I had to walk somewhere to get food which I found with no problem. I would stay here if I visit Istanbul again.

Hiç memnun kalmadım. Yatak çift kişilik belirtildiği gibi büyük yata değildi 2 yatak birleştirilmiş, sürekli yatak yerinden kayıyordu küçücük tek yatakta iki kişi yatmak zorunda bırakıldık. Yek kişilik yorgan yerine iki adet küçük yorgan koyulmuştu. Tek iyi olan şey temizlikti başka hiç bir şekilde bu otelde konaklamam.

The breakfast is definitely not too bad, and the kitchen staff, who were constantly arguing or fighting loudly in the breakfast restaurant, was very annoying.
And of course I will come to stay again, but without stopping by the restaurant without having breakfast.
