Excellent boutique hotel. The bed was very comfortable, and the rooms were nicely decorated. Its location is ideal, within walking distance to interesting places or the tram, and the staff was VERY cordial and attentive.

The hotel is total improvised. It is never explained anywhere when you book your reservation that the hotel is divided in 2 buildings that are not together you have to walk 2 blocks and climb 57 stairs to have breakfast, the hotel is in a steep hill so side walks are stairs, 57 stairs to go from your room to the building that has the restaurant. We didn’t had hot water in the shower, you hat to tell them you wanted warm water in the shower so they turn on the eater heater, so two days we arrived pretty late from a tour and never had hot water in the shower, we had to shower with ice cold water, we got sick. The hotel gave silly excuses, or offered at 11 pm a room change in the second building, so that meant carry luggage 57 stairs and s steep hill, because cars cannot reach the second building. We spoke with the manager next day, “ I am sorry, we offered a room change in the middle of the night and you didn’t accept it” of course not! I was not going to make my little daughter, family, elderly mom, climb a hill with luggage in the middle of the night. Terrible!!! Yes staff are pretty nice but solve nothing.

Staff were excellent (Ece and Yasmin especially). Always polite, helpful, kind. Hotel is lovely, great location in Galata, easy walking to the tower (3 minutes), and very easy to get across to the old city via bridge, which in itself gives great views of Istanbul.

Loads of dining, bakery and coffee options nearby. Central but also manages to be quiet (I had room at back, you don't get the view but it's a sanctuary).

Can highly recommend, from here, if you don't mind a walk, theres no need for public transport, almost all the main sites are within half hour walking distance.

Nice, very clean room, great shower, very helpful and kind staff, excellent location. Just know that what they call a sofa bed is not what we consider a sofa bed in North America. It’s literally just a sofa that frankly isn’t very comfortable to sleep on.

I visited with my mom for a week back in October. The staff was amazing and accommodated us with an extra bed by the time we arrived (excellent gesture). Breakfast was in a separate building and while the walk is a bit of a trek, the views were worth it. I wished however that there was a little bit more food variety and turkish dishes as the menu was mostly \"americanized\", which left me wanting more. Other than that, the hotel was excellent. Thanks!

The hotel is good; I think I just got bad luck with them....or they really don’t care. I booked a Deluxe King bed and they gave me superior Double bed.... 3 times told them.. And they told me the same: I need to check the reservation... next day after contacted Expedia and request that I want to have a room that I booked and paid. The hotel offered me an upgrade to a suite ( we talking about changing room at 10 pm)but next day at 9:00 a construction was going on just under my room all day ... they offer me again to change for another room… changing 3 times was too much for a reservation for 3 nights. They apologize with a half bottler of wine.. That was nice but no wine opener…. Went to the reception in person to request one and at 2:15 am they call to my room to let me know that they don’t have one…..just for the record they have a full bar at the lobby just in front of the reception. If you ask to talk to a manager they tell you that they are in a meeting, come back next day at 11:00.
In case you are thinking about staying in that hotel, the location is very good and the hotel is in good condition and nice. Better to book the cheapest and smaller room or maybe think about booking the hotel just in front which is beautiful .

I’d firstly like to start off by saying the front of house staff members were brilliant… very helpful and kind.

On the down side the large tv in the bedroom only had German or Arabic speaking channels and the options to connect to Netflix and YouTube did not work… so not ideal when you want to watch a movie at night whilst in bed.

Another major issue was that the smell of sewage would arise from the shower throughout the day wether they had a plumbing issue or not I’m not aware but it was unbearable where the bathroom door would always have to be closed and when taking a shower it was very unpleasant.

If the smelly poop smell in the shower was fixed and the tv had English speaking channels or the Netflix worked I would stay here again, till then I’m afraid I would not consider coming back.

A reminder again, the front of house staff were lovely.

What convinced me to book this hotel were the natural brick walls. Unfortunately, there are two buildings, and we stayed in the one located on the lower street.

Breakfast was served in the main building, not ours, but that wasn’t an issue for us as we had no problem walking. The views from the terrace were superb.

The room was quite small and had some dust collected along the lower parts of the walls.

We wanted to cancel our last night since we had booked five nights — which is a bit much for Istanbul; three nights would have been enough. The hotel did not accept the refund request, which was understandable as we had chosen the non-refundable option.

The best part of this hotel was the staff. Can Ozdn ordered dinner for us twice through his app, and I can’t speak highly enough about how great he was to us.

Overall, this was a 9/10 stay, and if it weren’t for Can, it probably would’ve been a 7/10.

Property was good - great for a stay in Galata right next to the bridge. Would come back just for staff because they were really attentive. Near a train station as well about 5 min walk to metro and 10 min to the water taxi. It’s a bit hard for taxi to drive up and pick up or uber because there is a lot of traffic at night beware of that, and other marriot facilities are about 10 min walk away as well.

Our stay at the Decamondo house hotel was an absolute delight ! It was the best way to be introduced to Istanbul which is such a magical city, and to come back each day to a beautiful hotel with such an illustrious history really made the trip all the better. Every day the hallways smell amazing, and the location is unbeatable. The front desk staff is so friendly and helpful, I had some nice conversations about perfume and waterparks with Ece, who was also kind enough to help me call a laundry service so our clothes could be washed.

Now our room was absolutely gorgeous and very comfortable. The bathroom was wonderful as well and the room was very clean thanks to Gǔlay and Yeliz who were fabulous and made sure that we felt very comfortable in our room.

Also would like to mention that all of the staff at the hotel who I didn’t mention by name are also fabulous and create a truly magical environment right by the Galata tower of Istanbul.

The hotel is nice, our king size bedroom was very spacious And Bathroom was large. The only problem was the breakfast in a different hotel. We had to walk to it on a steep hill. It was OK for some of us, but we had two seniors that was super hard on them and end up, not joining us for breakfast the whole trip. I do not recommend this place for people who cannot walk or seniors that need assistant.

First impressions weren’t great…I didn’t get the room I reserved, which was pictured with a balcony. Instead, they upgraded me to a suite without asking, but I didn’t care for the extra space; I really just wanted the view I’d booked. On top of that, the AC barely worked and it was quite hot.

That said, the manager, Yeasmin was very kind and personally made sure my issues were resolved. She moved me to the room I wanted the next day and did her best to make up for the inconvenience.

The hotel itself is very charming, with stylish decor and a warm, chic atmosphere that really adds to the Istanbul experience. The views from the rooftop are wonderful, and the location is perfect for exploring the Galata area on foot.

Overall, despite a rough start, I appreciated the hotel’s character and views, and Yeasmin’s responsiveness made a big difference.

TL;DR: Nice premises, but hardly restful

First, the Pros:
- the staff were polite, and helpful. Housekeeping was on point
- The hotel premises were clean, and the interior design was chic
- It's a hotel with a long and rich history, and staying there gives that special vibe of immersing oneself in the past

Now, the Cons
- The hotel itself is divided into 2 locations about 6-8min apart (if you walk slowly), and are separated by a very steep and uneven climb (think that slope was about 45 degrees). The height of the 3rd/4th floor of the main building is at the height 1st floor of the accessory building. If you have knee/hip problems, heart problems, or have poor physical conditioning, you will definitely find this a challenge.
- Because it's an older building, noises transmit across it incessantly (despite the rooms listed as \"soundproof\"). I stayed on the 3rd floor of the accessory building, with the bar on the 4th floor. The music, and noise (especially from dragging chairs!) didn't wane till after midnight. And my neighbours on the 2nd floor woke early. When combined, my rest at night wasn't restful at all, despite wearing earplugs.

I’m disappointed to say that we were misinformed—or not informed at all—during our stay. This is not what I expected from a Marriott.

We specifically chose this hotel for its rooftop and the advertised services, such as live music. Upon our arrival, I asked the receptionist about these features, but he avoided giving a clear explanation and simply mentioned that there were many restaurants nearby. Later, we discovered that the rooftop was under renovation.

To our surprise, breakfast was not served in our building; we had to walk to a separate building across the street. No compensation or apology was offered for this inconvenience.

Overall, the experience did not meet the standard I expect from Marriott. What a shame.

Be careful, this is a Franchise Hotel from Marriott. I encountered a deeply disappointing and stressful experience that fell far below Marriott’s usual standards.

Despite arriving early and waiting patiently until the official check-in time, I was met with confusion at reception and was given a room that was already occupied. The worst was that the staff didn't really cared that made me feel more uncomfortable.

It took 30 minutes to escalate the issue, and the alternate room provided was of a lower category, poorly insulated, and difficult for me to access due to a disability, also because it wasn't in the hotel official main building. It was by walking distance around 200m away, where I had a terrible night, because the windows weren't isolated at all and it was noisy from the floor above, possibly night work from the kitchen and in addition from outside. I only could sleep around 4am!

Only after a second complaint I moved to a more appropriate room, though still not the one originally booked.

The service personal proofed a poor customer experience and professional attitude.

Sending a complaint to the Hotel, they still polished their answer to their advantage. I needed to send a complaint to the official Marriott Internation Support team that could help my request, on refunding the full cost of the first night.

The hotel owner of the franchise wasn't supportive at all. If you want to ensure a relaxed holiday, this is definitely not the place you want to be in.

It's fine for the area. They have three buildings and we were not told which one we'd be in until we arrived. So we were then moved a few blocks away to their other location, which was a bit of a pain, especially with luggage and steep hills. They also wanted 140 Euros for an airport shuttle!
The building facilities are fine and on par with other hotels.

The property has character and charm along with a roof terrace restaurant that looks out on the Bosphorus. However, it is split on two sites and access involves walking up quite steep steps or negotiating a steep slope. As long as you are reasonably fit, I woould recommend it for your stay in Istanbul.

The stay started off not the best. We booked a room and part of the package was an upgrade although on arrival the upgraded room was in another building and we wanted to stay in the main building really. Was given the original room we booked and asked the staff to notify us of when a room becomes available in the main building we'd like to move there. They assured they would although no one got back to us even though there was availability. Maybe some miscommunication there. Emrah however in guest relations was excellent and sorted out our issue straight away which I was grateful for. The hotel is beautiful and within walking distance to Galata and close to the old city. Breakfast was decent and the views from breakfast were great.
