Our room had a great view of the beach right from our door. The room was clean and we had clean towels every day. Pool was well maintained and clean. Had a great stay! Walk to Surfin Spoon, Lucky 12, and Tortugas. Right next to Nags Head Pier. Great location.

This hotel is severely outdated, nowhere near handicap, accessible rooms were dirty, covered in sand whenever we walked in the first day the first night the TV didn’t work in our bedroom come to find out there’s also no air conditioners in the bedrooms. We left early from our stay and the hotel refused to refund us The rooms were terribly hot at night and then the hotel told me that TV is complementary so they had no reason to fix our TV first night. We were there also when the TV didn’t work the lady at the desk said that she would try to switch our rooms in the morning went to go try to do it in the morning. The owner told me that there was nothing we could do. Owner was also very rude. Whenever I was saying, I was not happy and very uncomfortable with our stay.

We like the location, and the fact that there are a few local places within walking distance. The room was nice, although a bit outdated. Parking is a major struggle as the parking area is small and narrow. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was very clean and well maintained. Overall a good experience and we would stay again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The woman at the front desk is such a sweetheart!! She made sure we were all set for our stay, and we even got to check in a little bit earlier than scheduled. The rooms are a bit old, but they have character! The room we were in looked like there may have been some previous water damage in one of the walls but there was no presence of any mold or allergens, I'm super sensitive to that, and had zero breathing issues or allergy issues. The room was clean, we had all the towels and linens we needed, and an adorable little towel animal on the bed. It felt like being on a cruise almost lol. Being able to walk a few yards to the ocean right off our room was beyond amazing! The pool was crystal clear, but a little chilly to get in and enjoy. We had a great stay here 😊

We were there for one night. Our room had direct access to the beach which was nice.
We didn't use the fire pit or pool
Staff was pleasant. No issues with parking.
We were able to walk to some restaurants.
Only issue was the bathroom. It was clean but had issues with shower curtain rod staying up and slow sink drain. Just as we were leaving a staff member was going to room to fix issues.

The property could use some refurbishing, but its location was too notch! Some rooms you could see the waves crashing on the shore. A short walk over the dunes and you’re on the beach. It is also pet friendly. If you’re looking for luxury find a big name. This was fine for what it is. A reasonably priced room on the ocean front-I’d stay again.

What we did like was the pool and the staff brought us towels every am! No vending machines. and what I didn't like was it was not a beach front - view! If you step outside of your room and look over the dune you could get a peek! It is very close to the beach. We arrived on a Thursday and \"beach renourishment\" was happening and there was an \"orange construction fence\" up so we couldn't walk on beach, until they finally took it down Saturday. It would have been nice to have been told but guess that was my fault.

The staff friendly a good service. The location is not nearby the center it’s about 2 1/2 miles away the first day I arrived., there were construction work on the beach, after 3 o’clock they stopped. So the next night I could sleep very good. The hotel is clean and for the price good.

The hotel wasn't bad overall. It's definitely an older property and had a bit of a musty smell, but the location makes up for a lot. It's right on the beach with easy beach access, convenient parking, and it's pet-friendly, which was a big plus for us. The pool was nice and clean, and we enjoyed spending time there. If you're looking for a beachfront stay and don't mind an older hotel, this is a decent option.

The parking lot is definitely tight and requires you to turn around in a tight space. I don’t recommend bringing big cars. Most of the rooms overlook parking lots on both sides so we had to keep the shades closed most of the time. That being said it was super clean. They provide a great number of towels which was appreciated - and they were super soft. The property was old but that allows you to be right on the beach with beach access so it’s a great trade up. Rooms are small but functional. We went in May and were able to check in early. Staff was super helpful, pool was refreshing, it was perfect for our 2 night stay. Sheets are scratchy though so I recommend bringing your own pillow. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat!

Check in was a breeze, upon arrive they were painting the outside woodwork. This is an old motel, so I did not expect it to be so good but to my surprise it was it was very good. We got an ocean view room, and it was clean had comfortable bed. The shower is small enough for one person, the coffee pot is small makes one cup but there is a 7/11 a short distance down the road. The ocean view rooms all have chair just outside the rooms and the beach is right at your room. The Nags Head fishing pier is right next door and is currently being remodeled but it like it would be open very soon. I would not hesitate to stay there again. I can't say much about the other rooms, but the beach side rooms are nice and clean and no odors. Thanks for the great stay.

Location was terrific. Perfect beach access. Easy parking. Accommodating us when we arrived late for check in. Pool clean and accessible. Easy check out. A little run down. Needs to have staff on site for emergencies. Our king size bed filled the room so the mini fridge, microwave and single cup coffee maker with expired coffee bags in the \"closet\". Made the room small.The key pad needs upgrades if it's facing the ocean. The shower also needs upgrades as well. The placement of the soap and shampoo dispenser was so low you bump into it. And the shower head was loose. The TV placement was we since it's too big for the room. Covered half the mirror and the \"closet\" that has the \"kitchen\". But We had an amazing view and was able to hangout at the table overlooking beach.

Colonial Inn is always a launching point for our OBX trip. They are affordable and convenient for a Friday night stay on the way further south for a following week. We appreciate that they don’t require a 2 night stay and use them regularly as a result.

Absolutely enjoyed the access to the beach and the staff were very attentive.
There were a few large issues though. The tub would not drain leaving mid shin deep water while trying to shower. There were two large stinging caterpillars one in the towels the other on the wall. The AC window unit would not stay running keeping the room temperature very hot. After calling twice to verify they had a coffee pot that took pods upon arrival it was filter and grounds however the staff was able to find one in storage. The parking lot was very small and congested. Other tenants had barking dogs all throughout the night and blaring tvs until early morning hours.

Walked up a few stairs for a very nice view of the beach! For an overnight stay it was cheap and the king size bed was comfortable! It was a perfect stop for the night since it was quiet!

No ocean view but quick beach access wirh minimal steps. Room 117 SHOWER WAS ADVENTURE OF SURVIVAL, nozel was like garden hose mist but little stronger, 5 minutes to figure out how to regulate temp then quick shower before it went cold, turning it off was like breaking into an old timey safe in a movie. Mattress really soft you'd sink between the edge and hump in middle. No coffee pot only Kcup with broken latch you have to hold down to brew one. No hair dryer. No fan in bathroom. Small refrigerater, gas stove is manual light ouch. Very poor lighting. A/C worked great. Parking with an ext cab 6ft bed truck extremely tight must back out all the way to street and cars cant even turn around in there. For a cheap place to sleep its ok it is clean!

I truly wanted to love this place.Where to begin? First, I paid for one king bed WITH an ocean view- I got two beds a view of the building behind us and a view of the people smoking and drinking at the pool. The more comfortable bed was in the room where the t.v. placement made sense but, with no a.c. I was too tired to attempt getting the room I paid for, i was just going to suck it up because the beach wasnt all that far away....beach access was blocked by larger pickups and broken pavement. This place wasnt actually clean, its not the Ramada or Travelodge or Holiday Inn so you do lower your expectations a little buuuttt...the noise, the cigarette, pot and whatever else they were smoking smell crept into the room. You do have to wash your dishes before you leave or you are charged 15.00- they do supply the soap, but its not Dawn or Palmolive or anyhting that actually cuts grease and cleans. We emptied the dehumidifier 5 times in the two days we were there. You can feel a hole under the flooring near the bathroom. The absolute worst part was the roaches, I cried. The shower was nice though.

The staff is very friendly, you get clean towels delivered to your room each morning. Private entrance for everyone, the pool was a nice size with plenty of seating, clean and well maintained. The rooms are clean, laid out well and spacious. No real complaints! The property could use an updating paint wise outside and the bathroom could use a remodel but all in all we enjoyed our stay!

This is a very old hotel right next to the beach, our room was clean and comfortable however if you are barefoot you will feel sand on the floor. Parking was difficult when you leave because of the way it was done. Easy drive to the outer banks to see the Wright Brothers area. Good restaurants in the area.

The only good part about our stay was the room was very clean, the pine-sol was a bit over powering. Beds are NOT large, they are normal size and the shower was way too small. If you have a big vehicle the parking lot is not for you. And there was a language barrier when asking staff for help.

It looks old given the name \"colonial\" Inn. Easy access from roads. Free parking right next to your room. Atlantic Ocean is right behind the property. So it was easier to walk to the beach. Person incharge checking in was polite and friendly. Summer here is very crowded but it was a peaceful room to rest and sleep. Price was much reasonable than other fancy options in the area.
