WARNING: DO NOT STAY AT THIS hotel !!
This hotel is by far the worst hotel I have been to in six continents and over 70 countries. The level of incompetence and deception is mine boggling.

From the beginning of the booking process which was a nightmare . From the website stating that there may be a transfer or surcharge fee to get from the airport to the island. That surcharge fee$100 US exceed the room price of $75 a night.

From booking the hotel through Hotels.com and paying in full , when I called the hotel they had no record of my booking even though I gave them my name & hotels.com and booking number.

I spent over three hours trying to make the arrangements to get the pick up from the airport to taking the boat to the island. Which they also do not tell you that you're on a boat ride for over one hour& taxi ride on the island.

The hotel will not allow cancellation or changes in your reservation if you can get through to them . They don't pick up their phones or answer their emails from hotels.com or for over 3 days , I tried repeatedly for three days also for them to call back or respond to their emails which they didn't.

Don't just take my word for it , look at every bad review posted at hotels.com on how poor this hotel is . This is not a vacation location you want to go to! Unless maybe you want a vacation in hell !

A vacation is supposed to be happy and positive experience this hotel is 180° opposite to that in every way .

I thought this resort was a bit overpriced for Thailand. It was sold as a resort and it is definitely more of a Hotel. We paid just over £90 per night for the Honeymoon View villa, which was a very basic villa. Double bed with old mosquito net, basic shower, cheap/basic mini bar, not very good TV - the sound was so quiet we couldn't even use it. It wasn't very Honeymoon like at all. It wasn't very private as it was right next to the hotel restaurant and bar, so we could hear everything. It was sold as having great views however all we could see was the restaurant and the canvas cocktail bar. Which was a shame as we had a \"private\" astroturf balcony. The room came with breakfast which wasn't very clear to us. It was also a very basic breakfast.

The staff were very helpful with sorting out issues, serving food & drinks, and organising travel back to the airport on the mainland.

It had two pools, we didn't use the pools as they were smaller than we thought and busy during the days we were there.

The beach was great for walking and watching the sea rise. However, it wasn't really a swimming or sunbathing beach. It is very easy to get private boat trips from the beach which were a great price. Perfect for seeing all the island and surrounding beaches.

Greeted very well with a drink and flannel to cool down, Our room was good with an enormous bed. Could well sleep x4 if needed. Breakfast ended up well but should have been told how to order the breakfast in the first place. Staff didn’t mention it to us and we had to ask about it. We just thought it was a buffet style breakfast at first glance and that was it. Had to order the main breakfast after the buffet first. Just would have been good to know that to start. Overall had a good nights sleep and enjoyed it there.

Right on the eastern side of the island with a sandy beach within minutes of the room. The hotel staff rent motorbikes, help book trips, and have us two bottles of water everyday. There is a pier right in front of the hotel with instant access to long boats for sea travel. There were a few ants that invaded the bathroom but they wash away easily. The only real drawback was that the room got a little hot during the day. But, a pool is on site to cool down if needed. A good place to relax and experience a quiet tropical island.

This place is too expensive for what you get. The hotel has great potential but doesn't live up to the expectations. Some of the staff is friendly, others not so. The swimming pool is great and clean and the nearby beach doesn't have too many visitors (This may change as two resorts are being built on the beach).

The room we had was a \"superior room\". There was a horrible smell of humidity in the bathroom and the toilet kept making a lot of noise. After asking to fix this they smile and say yes but they don't do anything about it.

The hotel has too high prices for extra services. It's better to rent a scooter at the tourist office right next to the hotel. Laundry is paid per piece, while you can find a shop that does your laundry for 50 baht per kilo down the road.

Almost nobody from the staff speaks or understands English. Proactivity is not something in their book either. At breakfast for example the bowl of fruit was empty and the staff was just staring at it. If you don't ask for more they would just stand there all day.

Long story short, too expensive for what you get, won't be back.

If you want to have a nice meal try restaurant at end of road or Jikgoa bar about 1km away. Do not buy tours from hotel, they use the man who has a stall at side of hotel and he charges about 500B less, he also hires scooters.

When tide is out walk out on beach to see the thousands of crabs

Great hotel for the money, overlooking the water

The hotel is nice and clean and the staff is friendly always greeting you as you walk past. The view of the beach is nice from the room we had. The pool is nice and always kept clean. The restaurant is good and the view of the water while eating is great. For the money the hotel is awesome. We didn't end up swimming at the hotels beach with the tide being out when we were around except at night when the water was high but rough, it was nice to walk out on the pier though and enjoy the view. The location of any hotel on this island can be hard if you don't have a moped to get around and see different things, we rented a moped at the pier and drove to the hotel but the hotel had mopeds to rent as well. One of our favorite hotels on our trip as we usually don't spend this much being a budget traveler but it was worth it.

Dont let the bad reviews scare you!

We initially only booked one night because we were unsure due to some of the bad reviews. But we ended up staying for 4 days because the place was so beautiful and calm. The accomodations and pool were both pleasently clean, the food was good, and the staff was very keen to help. This was a really nice change from the busy city pace.

Not what it looks like

The description online looks like a beach paradise resort. In person, it’s run down, not very clean. The beach is not something you’d ever want to swim at. We booked this place wanting to kayak and snorkel but when we saw the beach and the dirty water, we ended up leaving early. Very disappointing. It also didn’t seem to be in a very safe area. The only good part was the girl at the front desk. She was very sweet.

Lovely quiet resort on lovely Island

We loved this place, 4 days to chill out in beautiful surroundings. Our villa was clean and comfortable and very thai styled and catered for all our needs, loved the little deck on our balcony to chill out on. Swimming pool is small but clean and tidy. Food is great, the Thai dinner dishes are amazing especially the chicken satay.
Good value prices and get a moped for the day and explore the island, some areas which reception will circle on your map are absolute gems to visit. Moped hire 300bht.
We would definitely come back to Ko Yao Yai it's a beautiful place.

Not only is this hotel AMAZING, the entire island is amazing! The staff are so friendly (over and above), everyone has a smile on their face, their food is wonderful (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and they offer so many daily adventures for guests to pick from - everything is very convenient.

They have a pier but ONLY for private boats. The room was underwhelming, I would not call it a \"honeymoon villa\". You can't simply put roses on a bed and call it that, sorry. Wouldn't stay on the island again, as it did not have much going on at all. In the morning, be prepared to arrive early or wait a while for your breakfast. It is cooked-to-order which is nice, but they are very s l o w. Some other guests who chose their meals had to leave without getting it since they had an excursion and couldn't wait for the food anymore. One major caveat was that housekeeping left my room UNLOCKED after service. You could imagine my shock and anger that this happened but they did not seem to be alarmed by it. At most, we initially received a simple \"sorry\". Finally we were comped a scooter rental at least after continued complaining. Many times no one was available at the front desk and we almost missed one of our tours because of this! Also, they have a vehicle for the hotel but we were told they do not offer transportation which was surprising since some guests that were part of our hotel were riding on that same truck and taken to the pier whereas we had to pay a taxi! Something just wasn't right.

Beautiful property, great room.

I had a great stay here. My room was very nice... not that big, but certainly big enough for me as a single traveler. It had a big sliding glass door which let a lot of light in from the garden, very nice. The property is beautiful with palm trees, grass, and well kept bungalows/units. There is a nice restaurant that is half indoors/half outdoors. And when I was there, they were building a beach bar. There is a pier just a few steps away where I booked a boat tour. They also have motorbikes for rent, which is a great way to see the island. WIFI was a bit spotty at times, but that's island life.

The employees here could not be more happy to help and always have the biggest smiles on their faces. Any opportunity to help they do. When the ATM nearby the hotel wasn't working, they drove us to an ATM for free. they also let us take money out by charging our cards and giving us cash. They booked all of tours and ferries for us. I highly suggest renting a motorbike and touring the island, it's a breath of fresh air from all the crazy tourist islands around. The food here is also great. Only complaint is the size of the room we had, the honeymoon suite (very small) and quite a few mosquitoes in the room, but our bed had a pretty mosquito net around it!! For the price of this hotel it was well worth it.

Beautiful resort with an excellent view!

Going anywhere new, one never know what they are going to get, but Baan Taranya exceeded my expectations by far. We arrived from Phuket on a longtail boat that took us right to the hotel's own pier (very convenient). From there we were greeted by the lovely staff, and while we signed in they even brought us some refreshing juice!

The room was lovely. It had relaxing chairs on the front porch, with an amazing view of a limestone cliff island in the near distance. The mini bar is a plus! Bed mattresses are a bit firm, but I hear that is good for your back :)

I can't say enough about the staff. They were all very helpful and kind to us, and booked our taxi and speed boat off the island to our next destination. Kayaks can be borrowed for free, and scooters (aka motorbikes) can be rented for a small fee of 300 baht ($9 USD) for the whole day!

The food at the restaurant was also very good. They offer a nice variety of traditional Thai dishes, with a selection of Western ones as well.

Highly recommended.

In general it’s a nice resort, with friendly staff and a good breakfast, close to the beach.
The room on the other hand was disappointing, it’s a nice modern, spacious room on itself, but the airco is making SO much noise that you can’t put it on during the night, which makes the room too hot to sleep. The room smells like mould. When we arrived there was still a dirty towel from the previous guest in a drawer which gives not so much confidence about cleanliness …

Das Hotel liegt direkt am Strand und eigentlich ist es eine schöne Anlage. Allerdings lässt der Service zu wünschen übrig. Zuerst wurden wir in das falsche Zimmer zugeteilt und mussten abends noch einmal umziehen. Das Bettlaken war nicht wirklich sauber und der Safe ging nicht. Das Schlimmste aber war, dass wir für einen halben Tag kein Wasser hatten und als es dann wieder ging leider eine braune Brühe kam, uns aber auch keine Alternativen angeboten wurden. Beim Frühstück gab es leider nur Instantkaffee.

- strand 20 min bilresa bort var fin
- restaurang 15 min promenad bort hade god mat

- skitiga, steniga, grumliga, grunda stränder närmast, utan solnedgång
- hotellets restaurang hade dyr mat som serverades långsamt, i omgångar och kall
- poolen var liten, varm och i ett ocharmigt hörn.
- utflykter med båt kördes av en familj med ensamrätt och priser därefter
- elen var borta från 9-16 första dagen
- vatten var borta timtals i flera dagar i rad

Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal

Wir hatten eine Honeymoon Suite gebucht.Es gab im Zimmer leider keine Möglichkeit den Koffer auszuräumen,da kein Stauplatz.Die Bäder sollten erneuert werden,aber ansonsten war alles ausreichend.Frühstück war ok.
Sehr hervorzuheben ist das unglaublich nette Team.Alle waren ungewöhnlich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Insgesamt sind die Einwohner von Koh Yao Yai unheimlich freundlich.
Der Strand am Hotel ist leider nicht so schön.Sehr starke Gezeiten lassen das Wasser sehr weit zurückgehen.Dazu legen viele Longtailboote an dem Steg an,was uns vom Baden dort abgehalten hat.Aber darüber wussten wir Bescheid und waren vorbereitet.Man sollte sich auf jeden Fall im Hotel einen Roller mieten und die Insel selbst erkunden.

Tolle kleine Hotelanlage

Das Hotel liegt an einem sehr schönen Standabschnitt. Hinter dem Hotel befindet sich ein kleines Dorf, wo man einkaufen kann, essen gehen kann und auch Massage angeboten wird.
Der Strand läd leider, aufgrund der Gezeiten, nicht allzu sehr zum Schwimmen ein. Direkt am Hotel befindet sich ein kleiner Pier, daher liegen auch viele Longtailboote im Wasser. Das gut daran ist jedoch, dass man die Bootsbesitzer dort findet und man für kleines Geld Ausflüge per Boot buchen kann.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und das Restaurant zu empfehlen. Leider war das Frühstück nicht gerade die Wucht und leider auch recht eintönig.
Wir waren am Abreisetag sehr überrascht, dass uns die Extrakosten für ein Zustellbett für unseren Sohn und auch dessen Frühstückskosten erlassen wurden.
Am Abend ist es zauberhaft, wie das Hotel beleuchtet ist und es kamen auch von den Nachbarhotels viele Gäste in das nette, kleine Restaurant.

Wspaniały ośrodek, w średniej okolicy. Czyste przestronne pokoje, mały ale czysty basen, blisko plaży (brudnej). Droga i przeciętna restauracja hotelowa, ale w zasięgu krótkiego spaceru są świetne alternatywy. Dla amatorów plażowania lepsze inne opcje, natomiast na Yao Yai jest jeszcze szansa zobaczenia jak wygląda autentyczne życie Tajów nie nastawione jedynie na turystykę

Pas d'eau dans la chambre à notre arrivée pendant 4 heures le lendemain odeur de brûlé dans la salle de bain qui a été annoncé tout de suite à la réception, ils ont juste dit qu'il fallait laisser couler l'eau une vingtaine de minutes car ça venait des réparations qu'il faisait dans la chambre d'à côté...??? ça n'a rien changé. Résultat le lendemain le chauffe eau ne fonctionnait plus ils ont dû le changer.
Le déjeuner est servi de 7h30 à 10h mieux vaut arriver de bonne heure car ils ne chauffent pas les plats, ça devient vite froid. Le jour de notre départ à 6h 45 annoncé la veille, personne à la réception.

Hotellet var godt, men vi boede i superior double room (der findes ikke andre/lavere dobbeltværelse kategorier) og der var ikke rigtigt nogen terrasse el. lign. man kunne sidde på om aftenen. En anden gang ville jeg vælge en suite eller bungalow.

Überteuert und nicht mehr im guten Zustand

Preis Leistung nicht gut. Das Personal ist zwar freundlich und bemüht, aber vieles klappt nicht so recht. Restaurant braucht abends sehr lange, obwohl nicht viele Gäste dort essen. Das Frühstück war in Relation zum Zimmerpreis sehr enttäuschend. Viele Funktionen im Zimmer defekt, die Dusche konnte zum Beispiel gar nicht benutzt werden. Wir sollten in der Badewanne duschen. Das war kein wirkliches Problem, aber wie gesagt für ein vermeintlich gutes und zum teures Hotel nicht angemessen. Tapete kam auch schon von der Wand, wäre einfach zu reparieren, interessiert das Hotel aber offenbar nicht. Der einzige wirklich positive Aspekt war der Blick vom Zimmer und Balkon auf das Meer. Dafür empfehle ich Bungalow A1, in dem wir gewohnt haben.

Sehr schöne, liebevoll gestaltete Anlage

Die Zimmer sind geräumig und sauber, und sind, genau wie die gesamte Anlage mit Liebe zum Detail gestaltet.
Das Personal ist super freundlich und versucht einem bei allen Belangen zu helfen. Wir reisen mit kleinem Kind und auch darauf ist das Hotel eingestellt: Hochstühle, Schwimmreifen und -Bretter im Pool und Babybetten, die man dazubuchen kann.
Wir können das Hotel wirklich jedem empfehlen, es hat auch eine super Ausgangslage, um die Insel zu erkunden. Die Roller oder das Taxi bekommt man auch gleich im Hotel.

Mysig bungalow på mycket trivsam ö

Bungalows med hög standard, mycket trevlig personal som lagade bra mat på resortrestaurangen! Ett måste är att hyra moppe då de bästa stränderna ligger utspridda över ön, mycket lugn trafik på ön så det var inga problem.
