Could be a great hotel.
Beach area requires some attention rumble and rubbish around. You are unable to walk along the beech due to this.
Staff helpful in general, checkin/office guy not so friendly and not helpful.
Reserved a motor bike, very poor quality looked like one of the staffs for premium rates, you’d be better to book from one of the local vendors not the hotel.

Got picked up at the pier by the hotel and thought “this is nice”. Did not tell me it was not included with the resort and actually cost 4x what the taxis were charging. Drinks were not good and were overpriced. Got a “mango colada” and they filled the glass up not even halfway (probably 8 oz) and charged 190 baht. The group of women that served me and my wife were honestly rude and I will not be back to this “resort” or Koh Yao Yai. We have been island hopping and Koh Yao Noi is just 100000x better.

A really great place to stay at a very good price. Service was incredible and the restaurant served lovely food! At low tide about 40 minute walk along the beach to Laem Had Beach as well. Would highly recommend staying here (felt very safe and the rooms were very clean with good and well functioning facilities and amenities)

Nice but run down. No swimming beach. Nice pool

Comfortable enough, however they were renovating all the time around us. The only time they stopped was when there was a power cut or at night.
In the photos it looks like there is a beach but it is actually a wall with a big step into mud, not sand. Not a swimming beach.
The pool is very nice, but most of the deck and outdoor durniture is in bad condition and dangerous in some areas.

A simple, quiet place, with great pool overlooking the beach and wonderful ocean views. Restaurant was OK ... convenient and friendly service, food was average. A wonderful, tranquil alternative to the much noisier and crowded Phuket scene. Very reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful staff. Mostly European guests.

Extremely nice and welcoming staff. Hotel remained open even though there were no other guests. A very delicious and generous breakfast was also included. Room was very clean and spacious. All of the amenities, ambiance, staff, and beach were outstanding. Located in a safe and quiet neighborhood on the main road.

A quiet place to stay.

It is a quiet place to stay. Overall, it was a good stay but the resort should pay more attention to details such as cleaning and tyding up the chairs on the beach. We stayed in 3 different rooms duirng our stay and the beds were not the same. One of them was very soft that your body sank and it was not comfortable at all. The breakfast should be better and the food at the restaurant is a bit expensive. Not all customers go there for dinner.

Hmm...

The views and quiet lifestyle of Ko Yao Yai are surely something to see. (Although the world is full of quiet beaches and you can get the same experience for less)
The accommodations and service,however, were unbelievable. As in, I can’t believe this is happening. For the sake of brevity I’ll leave a list of complaints:
- not a resort; more a campground; open ceilings and poor insulation
- Animals free to enter the room; bats, rats, lizards and insects were a regular issue
- When I told the front desk my wife and I couldn’t stay in a room with bats they laughed replied “they are in every room. Not dangerous.”
- After insisting and getting our new room, we found no bats but rats watching us from the restroom roof (again no ceilings)
- Our last dinner was a burger and salad and it took 40 minutes to arrive soggy and cold. Meals are slightly overpriced
- We were quoted 1400 baht for a boat out and taxi and were charged 1750.
-all/ most fire extinguishers out of date / expired
-witnessed an electrical explosion and short power outage overnight.
-got shorted 10+ minutes on my massage.

This location might be the spot for you. I did see people seemingly enjoying themselves. But just be aware; you get what you pay for and once you get here you’re pretty stranded.

Fantastic for total seclusion only

Lovely open air shower. Pool next to our villa was very salty for some reason but main pool was lovely (you have to walk down a hill and across the main road to get to the main complex). If you want total seclusion and no alternative dining or bar options then this is fine but we got a little bored of the same. The bed was very hard! But - it was a very very beautiful hotel and room.

Would only return if room 2A available as right in front with a large shady tree. The beach is not a good swimming beach. The island is extremely quiet however if you want to explore the Scooters are good. Unfortunately the air con in our room did not work well and we asked for a pedestal fan (there were several around). However the staff didn't seem to concerned with our query and after saying yes they would supply one - nothing materialized. If you are not doing lots of boat trips 4 night stay is enough. Dining staff were great.

We chose this hotel for a quiet rest in the middle of a busy holiday. It was great for that.

Bungalows were cute and well maintained. Pool was nice. We did book a long tail boat trip out to the islands and that was a wonderful day.

Note the following: beach is mediocre and double check your bill before paying. Staff tried to charge us rack rates even though we booked with Expedia (about $20 more per night). I would also hesitate to book your onward boat tickets and transfers with the hotel directly.

The resort is beautiful and the rooms are a delight. The service was ok overall. The staff weren't the friendliest but that's been my experience throughout Thailand. They were helpful though. I would highly recommend for couples seeking alone time together. This is not a party resort or island at all. I went solo looking for some peace and tranquility and that's exactly what I got.

Simply stunning. The staff are wonderful and the views from the pool are gorgeous. The sand opposite is no real beach, but there are so many on the island, this is hardly an issue. The sunrise is also spectacular.

Amazing stay at Koh Yao Yai

Cannot rate Thiwson resort enough! From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with drinks and quickly taken to our rooms. The restaurant was delicious and had an amzing view of the islands and same with the neighbouring pool! Our room was Seaview and with a massive bed and couch. Staff are absolutely lovely and helped book everything for us; flights to Bangkok, renting scooters and even day trips to the island! Everything was well priced and for everything purchased at the resort (restaurant food, bikes, day trips) can all be payed in bulk when checking out! The island it's self is stunning and I highly reccomend getting a scooter from the resort to travel between villages

Great place to stay, nice small and quiet resort. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Keep in mind that this is a very sleepy island and there is little to do, you can rent a scooter to explore the island if you like. You can rent a cheaper scooter from the restaurant just 200metres up the road. They also serve good food. Food on the island is mostly Thai. Our 2night stay was great, thank you!

Would recommend these bungalows .
Intended to stay for just the one night and ended up staying another with one of t he larger upgraded bungalows on the front overlooking the sea Will def consider returning
There isnt much around but thats want we wanted so happy to be isolated for a couple of days . Although there is a new building nearby which has a nice coffee shop and also convenient store and to the other side is a couple of restaurants although the food is fine in the resort.

You would need to hire a bike if you need to see more of the island if youre staying longer in this island

Stayed three nights at this hotel. The hotel is relatively close to the pier where the boat from Phuket comes in. The hotel facilities and the room were nice and clean, but there's no A/C in the standard rooms. The staffs English proficiency is not the best and at times it was a bit hard to communicate.

Very friendly family running the place and location is very relaxing and good value. Scooter hire was expensive (and charged us for a day when we didnt use due to the rain, could have let us know) Good food and Drinks available, breakfast was ok. Our last meal was overcharged which was a shame. Ferry was 300 thb not 200 as advised when dropped off, luckily we had enough to cover (in fairness I think the ferry opertor was at fault here not the manager from hotel). Dont go to the expensive resorts elsewhere as this place is far better value and cleaner. We really enjoyed our stay and the faults mentioned were not major, beach clean up would be a great idea everywhere we would happily educate locals and tourist alike. Carin and Pom were awesome and hope to go back sometime its a great place for downtime

Mixed feelings about this resort... First night I stayed in standard bungalow with a fan, I got cold in the night so no air con was ok- bed was nice however pillows were lumpy. Upgraded to superior room for the second night and got air con which was nice for the day time - bed was nice and shower was good.
Hotel- nice location however wifi was at times painfully slow or non-existent. I hired a bike which was great- it was safe and they didn't try to cheat you.
My only real annoyance is they allowed kids to scream and splash in the pool at 6.30am which woke me up!

I was a little skeptical at first as we pulled up to the hotel, wasn't quite resembling the pictures. The staff were super friendly and welcomed us with a drink.
We were taken to our room which was across the road and uphill which had me even more worried. As we got there though it was exactly what I wanted- secluded and peaceful with a pool that had no one using it.
The room was gorgeous and very traditional. Exactly what we wanted- quiet and tranquil.
Not much to do on koh Yao Yai so if you want a holiday of sun and doing nothing this is perfect. Great little hotel at an amazing price.

Don't forget AC!!!!

Resort was great for a relaxing getaway. Pool was right on the beach and right next to the bar...always a bonus. Very very quiet resort where English is truly a second or third language. This can make communication difficult. We unfortunately had a fan room with no AC and essentially ruined our stay. We ended up leaving a day early because we were so uncomfortable. Don't get a room without AC!!!

La chambre en front de plage est particulièrement agréable, elle est spacieuse, beaucoup de rangements et une superbe terrasse ombragée que nous avons vraiment adoré. Le personnel du resto est très sympathique et souriant.. Le petit dejeuner est varié et très correct. Nous avons regretté le manque de service à la réception. Pas de propositions de visites de l'île, taxi plus cher qu'à l'extérieur idem pour les réservations de ferry. Nous avons aussi déploré l'inaccessibilité à la baignade en mer. les marches plus que rudimentaires en béton beaucoup trop dangereuses.B

La chambre familiale était parfaite : spacieuse et propre. L’hôtel s’est occupé de toutes nos demandes (taxi, scooter, massage, lessive…). Le petit déjeuner est complet. La piscine est superbe et la vue est incroyable. Des transats sont installés sur la plage. Les télévisions sont connectées.
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.

Detta är ett fint hotell i ett lugnt område.
Två pooler som är inte stora men väldigt charmiga och med oslagbar utsikt.
Mat är riktigt god och frukost är fantastiskt!

Det som skulle kunna förbättras är pool däck (som känns mindre bra) och någon typ av regelbundet transfer till stranden (då det är inte möjligt att bada vid hotellet)

Wir waren mit einem Kleinkind in der Unterkunft. Die Insel ist nur was für Backpacker, da man ohne Roller komplett aufgeschmissen ist.

Was uns an der Unterkunft gestört hat. Extrem viele Ameisen im Zimmer. Das frühstücksbuffett war um Welten schlechter als in den anderen Hotels die wir besucht haben. Ameisen neben dem Toastbehälter. Der obere Pool war total trüb. Konnten nicht baden gehen.

Die Hütten sind toll man könnte soviel daraus machen. Einfach mal die Latten dicht machen, den Verschluss zur aussenduschtür abdichten. Ventilator am Balkon. Tür zum Haus verschließbar machen (Tür war durch einfaches ruckeln am Türknopf zu öffnen)

Virkelig et fint hotel, hvor du får good value for money. De er flinke til at hjælpe med transport til færgen, når man er ankommet, og dejlig nemt at leje en scooter. Fin morgenmad, der både har thailandsk og europæiske rødder, og kaffe på kaffemaskine. God udsigt. Vær obs på, at Deluxe Hill top værelset kræver, at man går op af en bakke i et stykke, så værelset ligger ikke lige ved hotellet. Der er dog 1 pool ved selve hotellet, og en oppe ved deluxe hill top hytterne. Der kan være en del larm fra dyr også - så tag eventuelt ørepropper med.

We stayed in 2 of their rooms; the first night was in first line with a view of the beach, with a big porch, jacuzzi, and lots of space. It was the most luxurious room we stayed in for whole trip, and it wasn’t too expensive. We loved the look and decoration of the place, and it was very clean and comfortable. The next night we stayed at one of the smaller rooms on the second line from the beach. This room was perfectly fine, and cost half of the first room.
For the “downside” this hotel is very family friendly, so if you are looking for a quiet place without big families and kids playing, this place might be a bit noisy, especially by the pool area. The location could also use a sandy beach, as you have to enter the ocean through stairs on a concrete wall. But a real beach is within few minutes driving. The personnel are nice but they speak very little English and seem a bit reserved at times. Overall the service was the bare minimum, no more or less.

Wir sind das 2. Jahr in Folge jeweils 16 Tage im Thiwson gewesen und wir lieben das ursprüngliche Flair, was das Hotel ausstrahlt. Die Lage ist atemberaubend, vor allem der Ausblick auf die vielen umliegenden Inseln. Beide male hatten wir einen Strandbungalow mit direktem Blick aufs Meer.
Die Freundlichkeit der Hotelmitarbeiter ist überragend und man sollte Unfreundlichkeit, wie von manch anderen hier beschrieben, übrigens nicht mit Zurückhaltung verwechseln. Die Leute auf Koh Yao Yai sind nämlich alle zuvorkommend aber eher etwas ruhig, was auch auf die Sprachbarriere zurück zu führen ist.
Die Anlage selbst ist größtenteils aus Holz errichtet und da dies ein natürlicher Rohstoff ist, ist es auch normal, dass nicht alles perfekt aussieht. Jedoch ist alles gepflegt und sauber.
Wer einen noblen Betonklotz mit Marmorwänden und Böden haben möchte, soll doch bitte in der Türkei Urlaub machen und sich von den Touristenmassen ertrampeln lassen.
Das Essen ist für Hotelverhältnisse sehr gut und dazu noch günstig.
Wer sich einfach nur nach Ruhe sehnt, kaum Menschen um sich herum haben und thailändischen Flair genießen möchte, ist hier genau richtig.

Situé en bord de mer ,mais il n est pas possible de s'installer sur la plage juste en face car lamerne le permet pas. Le personnel est au top . Gentil,serviable. Les bulgalows sont corrects , tout est fonctionnel et pratique . Ils sont auqsi tres spacieux . La literie est correcte. La piscine est sympa et la vue est magnifique . Le restaurant de l hotel est tres tres bon, mais je trouve que les quantités sont vraiment petites comparé aux autres endroits,et les prix pratiqués pour manger et boire sont vraiment plus cher qu'ailleurs. Il n y a rien de particulier à faire autour de l hôtel a part sedetendre et profiter du cadre .

Mycket trivsamt boende med fin pool och utomhusdusch. Helt okej frukost och nära till mindre matbutik. Vi bodde 4 nätter. Hyrde moped 1 dag och gjorde en longtailbåt utflykt 1 dag. Åt aldrig middag på hotellet utan vi promenerade till andra restauranger.

Friendly and helpful staff.
The room nice but very noisy during the nights because of the various insect noises.
Rent a moped to get around, the streets are not made for walking unfortunately.
The hotel restaurant is ok but you can find far more better not far from the hotel.

Skønt sted, meget autentiske omgivelser og virkeligt hyggeligt.
Personalet er virkeligt søde familiære og hjælpsomme, man føler sig virkelig velkommen.
Restautanten er udendørs under bambus tag, meget hyggelig og på stranden, fantastisk udsigt over havet, morgenmaden er rigtigt god og menukortet alsidigt med virkeligt god mad.
Hytterne er hyggelige og de er pæne og rene.
Stedet kan virkeligt anbefales.
Hvis man går efter dejlige hvide bade strande er det ikke stedet, men det er generelt for hele koh yao yai, strandene er ikke særligt gode på grund af det kraftige tidevand, men på koh yao yai og specielt thiwson resort får man så meget andet lokalt thailand, resorted har dog en fin sandstrand, men den er ikke god at bade fra.
Der er en dejlig pool med kant helt ud til stranden.

The hotel staff is very nice and helpful! The pool area is nice and the hotel is near sea. Our room was dirty and the hotel's food and breakfast is quite bad 2/5. The hotel is not four stars maybe 2.5/5. We was staying at low price cabins.

Best staff ever

I really enjoyed Thiwson, peaceful bungalow village with powerful air-con. Awesome detail was also the bungalow shower which doesn’t have a roof so it feels like tou shower in the nature. Rooms were clean and the staff was so friendly! Wifi was okay but not the fastest. They also provide scooter rent so you can easily explore the island of Koh Yao yai. Here you can forget time when you spend your holiday here.

Ein bisschen im baumhaus stil angerichtet. Holzhütten bzw. Lodges. Das gibt ein schönes dschungel Flair. Schöne Nähe zur Natur. Das Personal war teilweise etwas stoffelig. Aber was solls. Würde hier wieder buchen.

Gute Aussicht, schöne Gegend. Schlecht war das Bett, da konnte man gar nicht drin schlafen. Das Personal hätte mehr verdienen können, wenn wir Sevice am Pool bekommen hätten

Séjour détente sur une île encore préservée.

Séjour très agréable, beau bungalow récent dans un parc en hauteur. Hôtel donnant sur la mer , deux piscines à débordement. Accueil sympathique. Bon petit-déjeuner buffet avec des fruits très frais. Au restaurant bonne carte avec choix prix raisonnables. Wifi dans tout l'hôtel. Deux petites bouteilles d'eau chaque jour comme partout en Thaïlande. Très peu de chaînes de télévision aucune européenne. La grande plage en dehors de l'hôtel est souillée de plastique divers. Il serait temps de prendre conscience de la protection de l'environnement.

Wir haben 6 Nächte im Resort verbracht und uns hat es dort sehr gefallen. Das Zimmer (Beachside) ist an sich ein Bungalow direkt am Wasser mit einem traumhaften Blick. Den Sonnenaufgang konnte man direkt aus dem Bett genießen. Das Personal war sehr nett und immer hilfsbereit. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und mit allen notwendigen ausgestattet. Das regionale Essen im Restaurant war sehr lecker. Das Frühstück war übersichtlich aber definitiv ausreichend. Wir empfehlen das Resort auf jeden Fall jedem weiter.

Eigentliche Anlage ist top gelegen, das Frühstück mit Blick aufs Meer traumhaft.
Allerdings sind einige Bungalows auf der anderen Seite der Strasse, davon war in der Beschreibung keine Rede.
Motorbikes und Transfer vom Hotel sind teurer als lokale Anbieter. Schade.
