This place was terrible and I would not ever return! The outside doors did not lock. The building inside was in disrepair. The pool was closed for maintenance. The first room we were given smelled like wet dog (carpeting). The second room smelled better but was older and had blood stains outside the bathroom door. There were no screens on our second floor windows - really not safe when traveling with children. The exercise area had broken equipment. Breakfast was cold options. The front desk was rarely staffed as they were cleaning rooms due to three housekeepers recently quitting. This hotel appeared to have guests who worked in the area and due to its extended stay option, may have been their home base. Definitely do not stay their with a family!

The lady at the desk when we arrived late was amazing. Had some issues with housekeeping that day not cleaning rooms starting they were clean. We went to our room was not clean. Went back to the desk she apologized profusely. Than we got upgraded for the inconvenience. She was so nice and very helpful.

Do not let the photos deceive you. This place is dirty, quite run down and unpleasant overall. Our blankets had holes, the shower temperature was varied and never a consistent temperature. There were some safety concerns due to a couple of people continually roaming the halls. You can hear every noise within a 4 room radius through your walls clear as day. The pool does not work, per other reviews it seemingly has never worked?? Not to mention the sorry excuse for the offered breakfast. I had planned a weekend there and left after the first night to go directly next door. That was the best decision I made all weekend. This place is not worth $20/night, and damn sure not worth whatever they decide to charge. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Pet friendly yes. I was sad because I have to assume they are renovating as it used to be a nice place but rundown. I guess I hope they are revamping because it was kind of dumpy. Things that can be fixed and I do hope that is what they are doing. I had to sanitize the entire room before I even opened my suitcase. Glad there was no emergency because there was no phones. Just little stuff but it adds up. Oh and breakfast...never saw any.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!
1. They moved someone else into my room after I checked in.
2. They charged me AGAIN for the room I already paid for through Expedia when I CHECKED-IN. And refuse to refund it.
3. Pool was under maintenance.
4. The room they originally put me in matches the pictures, when I had to be moved, we were put in a room where the toilet didn’t flush, junk in the shower drain, tiles coming off wall, hole behind toilet, and other issues.
5. When I asked for refund and cancel second night, Ronelle was understanding and nice. Stating she understood and would have Brittany issue refund. Expedia refunded me based on this conversation. But The Dakota is refusing to refund the charge they put on my card for the room when I checked in because they are saying it was for the NIGHT BEFORE I GOT THERE.

Horrible Experience!

First, the pool was closed for maintenance, but I did not see anyone working on the pool for the entire 3 days that we were there.
There was construction happening in the hallway/lobby area big holes in the wall, pipes laying in the hallway. Dirty hallways.
The Continental breakfast consisted of Cereal, Yogurt, Bagels, and Toast. No eggs, or protein of any sort.
I booked for two nights from Friday - Sunday. On Saturday my key card stopped working. Came to find out that they had me checking out on Saturday so they stopped my card access. When I got back into my room housekeeping had been there and made one bed, threw away a bag of our clothes (was later pulled from trash and given back) and moved all of our personal items around in the bathroom. The only lighting was two lamps and both of them kept coming unplugged and falling out of the loose outlets.
The carpets were sticky and dirty.
Homeless were lingering and using drugs both in the front and behind the hotel. (I have small children, so this was disturbing)

**Long review ahead**
We went to check in at our check in time (3:00), and could not check in due to them cleaning our room. We were told to come back in 30 minutes and it would be ready to go (completely understandable). We came back in 30 minutes checked in, went up to our room and see it not cleaned and the housekeeping was JUST STARTING TO CLEAN OUR ROOM. When I went to go down for a different room, they told me to wait since they would be done soon. we waited 45 EXTRA MINUTES upon already being told to come back. The manager Brittany was very understanding and easy to work with, however the other staff needs to be accountable. THIS WAS/IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AT ALL!

Upon getting to our room and getting ready for the night, we walked into the bathroom to find the toilet was leaking and flooding the bathroom. Maintenance was quick to come fix it.

This place offered a 3 nightsSpecial BUT does NOT specify dates. We stayed for 3 nightsFalse Advertisement since I was charged double. Their “breakfast” is lacking and offers only bagels and yogurt. The pool is out of order and the whole reason We booked with them was for the pool. Musty smelling with floor boards missing. Water temperature changes to scolding when toilet flushes and takes a while to get warm water. If you like a place for the tv, expect to only get 50 channels with mostly the news. Key card only worked on on door I and room key was disconnected on 2nd day. Entrance B room keys did not work to open, reader possibly broke. Lots of pot holes in parking lot.

The breakfast was lacking breakfast. Thought coming down a few minutes before it was to \"open\" at least the coffee would be ready but the person who works at the front desk was doing something else and had nothing started. Was not going to wait for coffee or any other maybe type of food to be ready in 20 minute after the time it was supposed to be ready. Left and went to a restruant along our journey. Money we did not plan.

When I got into my room and I stripped my bed there were bed bugs, and blood stains on the mattress cover, they switched mattress but didn't accommodate me with nothing else.

The whole reason I chose this place was because of the pool and my kids and us staying there for a week. It was down. However, for maintenance the shower was terrible, there was hot water when you wanted cold cold water. When you wanted hot, it would randomly change, scald you 1 minute be freezing, the next, we couldn't get clean towels without attitude. From the front desk person housekeeping never once knocked and asked if we wanted our room cleaned, we were there for a week. So, it would have been nice to have the floor vacuumed and fresh sheets. We ended up washing our own towels and sheets, so we did not have to interact with the staff. Breakfast was sad. The only hot food offered was a toast or a bagel.
Yogurt gallons of milk in the fridge and cereal. Not pleased. I will not be saying here again.

I was very disappointed when I got to the Dakota. There were no signs on there website stating the pool was closed or when I called I didn’t get a heads up. They do offer a 10% discount for the pool being closed but you have to call a completely different number and get “approved” for your discount. We got our room number and as we were walking the hall ways were ice cold to the point it was uncomfortable. The hallway smelt like alcohol and cigarettes (someone was smoking in there room) and reaked of water damage and mold (mind you I am 6 months pregnant) We got into our room and it looked like the only thing that was cleaned was the bedding. The floors had white stuff on the carpet, dirt and crumbs on the counters. The ceiling had dust hanging off of it and the sink and bath tub had hairs all over it. I had tried to take a shower anyways because my body was in pain from being pregnant, I couldn’t even do that the water pressure was so low, and they had no bathtub stopper. The curtain had looked yellow the towels had brown stuff on it like it was not washed. The air fan for the bathroom was stacked with dust and the ceiling looked like it was falling apart. I am highly allergic to mold and felt like I couldn’t breath the whole night. I woke up coughing up blood in my mucus. I had looked on there site of how to get my money back because I had paid for two nights and highly regretted it but they don’t do refunds unless 24 hours in advance. I still would like my refund.

Building in complete disarray, doors to the hotel look like anyone can break in. holes cut into walls, looked like for maintenance, then holes other places. Even a small hole in the toilet bowl. No hot water for my showers. TV lost service because of wind. Housekeeping/front desk was knocking on all the doors around me and letting them self in to all these rooms. Not sure what was going on but it was frightening. I locked my door and pulled that extra lock on my door as I didn’t know wha was going on. I didn’t feel safe. Pool and that area was closed, it looked like that it had been closed for quite some time.
My room was good. Big. Clean. It served its purpose but I would not stay here again.

The building smelt like cigarette smoke the minute we entered the lobby. The employee at the front desk seemed unbothered by making an effort to make us feel welcomed let alone put a smile on her face. The building is under construction, pool was closed, and the parking had 3 cars on jacks like it was also being used as a mechanic shop. We never even carried our bags in after looking at the room. We left and stayed elsewhere. Really unfortunate as I remember it being a decent place from a previous stay.

Pool closed for the weekend, no prior notice of this. Booked through hotels.com so had to go through them to try cancel. I was on hold for about 30 minutes to discuss with them to cancel last minute. We were traveling with a 6 year old for state wrestling. We chose this hotel because of the pool and slide. Nice location by the Sanford center. Hotel staff very nice, understanding and accommodating and gave me the number to call. Did not make it to a room but lobby appeared run down not clean and dated with half full baby bottle in the corner and a nipple to another baby bottle on the floor. An old sectional couch is the lobby furniture but it is disassembled for 2 couches and the middle piece off to the side- looked tacky. Law enforcement was there dealing with a domestic issue when we arrived and another guest came down with issues of backed up toilet.

The pool was closed for maintenance, the front desk clerk wasn’t even in a uniform or staff shirt, she looked like she rolled out of bed with a zip up smiley hoodie, when asked for a receipt she said she couldn’t print one. She cussed and slammed the computer key board the whole time. She dropped the f-bomb numerous times while at the desk. My fiancé went to his room (there was no remote for the tv and it stunk of cigarette smoke). While in there the desk person came into his room with her own key card Without permission! My fiancé asked for a refund and left. Worst customer service and experience ever!

The entire hotel was being dehumidified with industrial fans and the noise was intolerable. The system for checking in was down and I needed to move to a private office and help the clerk with her iPad to help myself get checked in. The room was absolutely freezing cold, the pillows were tiny and you couldn't lay on your back and rest your entire head on them, and the showers were deficient and did not have consistent water pressure or temperature.

The hotel reminded me of a trap house motel from back home. There were broke down cars on jacks in the parking lot. The pool has been down for months. With no indication on the website that it was down. Would have never booked it if I would have know that. Over all it was quiet through the night. One of the outlets look sketchy to use. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. No vent fan. The sink didn’t have a drain plug. And when we ran the water in the sink. The smell that came out of it was horrible. The vent that was in the wall at the top of the ceiling had gum in it. How does that even happen. Housekeeping never came for the second day to give us clean towels. But I guess you get what you pay for. If it would have been just myself and my spouse I wouldn’t have cared. But it was my daughter and I. I really didn’t feel safe. Since the outside lock didn’t work. Anyone had free access to just walk in the hotel from the backside. If you have kids. Stay somewhere else.

Walk into hotel and see that pool and hot tub are a messy construction zone. They said they would issue a 10% refund for mess and inconvenience of no hot tub and pool. Never did reimbuse me the 10%. Walk in room- kid you not - Absolutely no heat! They knew heater was broken in that room. Didn't do anything about it other than write an email to the manager and say sorry. So I get my emergency heater from work trailer to heat room myself. Okay - hot shower time- No Hot Water!!! Slept and left asap.

The staff was not very friendly and I talked to the same front desk worker multiple times and every time was the same. Our room was in the back hallway and there are not signs showing there is more rooms at the end of either hallway. The pool was closed which was a bummer but not a deal breaker. And there was an altercation where multiple cops showed up. I have stayed many times but this one was the worst of my experiences here.

Pool is closed, breakfast bar was hardly edible. And the room looked nothing like its picture. Was very dark and gloomy. My kitchenette consisted of a kureg on top of a microwave on top of a mini fridge. The electrical outlet by the bed had an electrical adapter on it, and the outlet itself wasnt even attached to the wall. I think the person before me spilt something on the floor cause there was a wet spot. The hotel needs a complete renovation is the best I can say.and sound dampening. I heard every noise my neighbors made.

The staff were the 1 good part of this stay. They were very friendly.

I would not recommend staying here. The room we were given was dirty and clearly not cleaned properly before our arrival. The sink would back flow overtime you ran the water. We had to brush our teeth with a water bottle. To make matters worse, there was obvious drug dealing and shady activity going on outside at night, which made us feel unsafe. People were leaving the back door of the hotel propped open. We had the room at the very end next to the door as could here all this activity go on ALL NIGHT LONG. We ended up leaving the room at 1am and driving to a safe place to sleep in our car. The pool was also closed and under construction—a major amenity we expected to use and that was never disclosed at booking. Check-in was also unpleasant; the staff seemed disorganized. Overall, a very disappointing experience and not worth the money.

After check-in, which took a long time, we found out the pool was closed. That was disappointing. The room was okay, beds are comfy. The walls need touch-ups and the toilet ran at night. We slept ok and the breakfast was nice, lots of options. The room was pretty quiet. There were stains on the carpet and some carpet torn in one spot. It looks like they're doing some renovations, but no signs are up informing customers. As we did a final sweep to check for forgotten items, I noticed the mattress protector on one bed had gotten pulled out and had dried feces on it. Or what looked like feces. It was totally disgusting and we were grossed out. There was nobody at the front desk so we didn’t tell the staff. We should have taken the refund when she offered at check out and stayed somewhere else. Only reason I gave some stars was the bed were comfortable and the free breakfast was decent. Had we seen the feces on the mattress protector prior to check-out we would not have stayed.

Super gross room. Was told we were being moved rooms. Had concert tickets so just dropped our bags after we checked in and headed out the door. When we came back at midnight we discovered this is what the room looked like and there was no one at the front desk. Super disappointed. Have emailed the hotel with no response back

Upon arrival the front desk attendants were courteous and friendly. They had a fan on the countertop blowing on them to stay cool. The air conditioning was not working. The first room they sent us to was so wet from inadequate ventilation flow. The floor looked as though it was just mopped and moisture was dripping off the refrigerator and bathroom toilet and shower walls. The bedding was damp. They moved us quickly into another room which was better. However, the lights didn’t work. There were ceiling tiles removed in the hallway.

When I arrived, I was check into a room that really did not meet my standards. I went back to the front desk, told her my concerns and she spoke to the manager. the manager showed me a different room and then went above and beyond to make sure all of my needs were meant. I would not have stayed had it not been for her! She was fantastic! It just goes to show that if you take a positive approach with management and give them a chance to resolve the issues you have, you just might be surprised at how well they do. I would give the staff, especially the Manager at this hotel an A++

Took over 1 hr to check in, we reserved 2 rooms, first try she put all of us in same room, then 2 different rooms, keys didn't work. Had to go back get keys to work, hall was full of rocks, dirt, the room smelled horrendous and was dirty. We went back asked for refund told had to send us check? Then found out charged wrong card, couldn't fix or give receipt. I expect a full refund.

Staff did what they could but they booked us in an occupied room. Second room was full of tools and apparently being remodeled, third room the TV didn't work. Promised a rebate, but they were gone by morning and that never happened. That aside, it was remarkably clean for a budget hotel. Once they get management figured out it'll be a good place to catch some zzz's

No one was at the front desk and there wasn't any breakfast our first morning. There were broken bottles in the parking lot. The pool and hot tub were out of order as well as the soft drink vending machine. We will not stay here again.

Got checked in and went to room and our key cards did not work.
Got them re-done and was able to get into the room.
Left and came back around 2am to go to bed and once again our key cards would not work.
Went to the front desk and had to call the Clerk to come in from outside to assist me.
The then states that my reservation/check in did not save from earlier in the afternoon. So I had to check in all over again in the middle of the night and get my key cards redone.
When we got back into our room we found Dirty Towels behind the door in the bathroom. On the counter there was a mystery liquid that was sticky.
I would recommend looking for other options if possible.

The photos on the website must have been taken years ago. The outside around the building and the courtyard were full of weeds and garbage. The pool is still not working. The downstairs rooms smelled awful and our room was not clean so we switched to an upstairs room when we arrived which was a little better. The rooms were okay but the sink had cigarette burns and parts of the carpet were crunchy. But there was hot water and the air conditioner worked. The lady that checked us in was very nice and I didn't get her name but the rest of the staff were marginal. We asked for new towels and they were given to us a few hours later unfolded since she didn't have time to fold them. Not a big deal but odd. All the linens had a funky smell. It appeared there were people living there that were a little sketchy. The chairs in the courtyard should have been replaced years ago. We would have switched hotels but went for a concert so everywhere close was booked. For the price it was tolerable but I wouldn't stay there again.
