There are some pro’s and cons… the cons being that our bathroom was dirty. The corner by the tub was visibly full of dirt and I used a towel to clean it off. They didn’t even open for breakfast on one of the days staff didn’t show up till close to 10 AM. And the next day when we did get to have breakfast, it was very meager. The apples were soft and wrinkly. There really wasn’t much for breakfast besides some hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels cold instant oatmeal packages and some cereal. They also didn’t tell us to have housekeeping come that we had to put out a tag that asked for service. Which we didn’t even have a tag in our room at all when I asked about it. So our room was not serviced and we were out of towels, but staff was gone and we were unable to get more towels to shower. They don’t leave towels out for the hot tub either so staff has to be around for you to be able to ask for more towels than what’s in your room. So besides a dirty bathroom, no rooms cleaned, no towels, and no continental breakfast as advertised the con is that if you book the side with the view, it is really pretty. You are in walking distance to the Fidalgo drive-in for burgers and there is a tiny little gas station just the next street over.

The location and the view from our room was amazing. The room size was good and the decor and other room essentials were great. If you are looking to have front desk service, there was little to none but did not impact our enjoyment of our room. This establishment does not have a front desk person (s) at all times. Otherwise, we loved our stay in Anacortes!

We had a pleasant stay at Salish Inn overall. The rooms were spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and the property appears to be fairly new. Everything felt fresh and well maintained, making for a comfortable stay.

One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel has fairly strict check-in times with little flexibility. This wasn't an issue for us, but it may be something to consider if you expect to arrive early.

The one area that could use improvement is the complimentary breakfast. It's advertised as being available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., but during our three-night stay, it was never actually ready at 8:00. On the first morning, we waited until around 8:30 before food was available, and the selection was fairly limited, with some items, like the bagels, seeming stale. Because of that experience, we chose to have breakfast elsewhere the remaining two mornings.

Since the property appears to be new, I understand there may still be a few operational details to refine. I hope the breakfast service is one of them, because it's a nice amenity when it's available as advertised. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, and with a few improvements to the breakfast experience, this would be an easy five-star property.

Room was comfortable, bed was comfortable but thats where the comfortable stopped. You walk in to an empty lobby with a taped sign to call a number and someone will come to the desk. You call the number and the phone you call is left at the desk (odd) someone shows up and checks you in. You see a breakfast sign from 8-930, we were out the door before 8 every day so thay stunk. No coffee in the lobby in the morning either. Minimal hours on the gym and spa. The entire time I saw one worker and we were there for 2 nights. Then they charge you a service fee and when you call and ask for what service the staff say \"oh we charge everyone that, I dont know why or what for\" you ask well then if you cant tell me what its for can I get it refunded then get told no. Over priced, underwhelming and will not be returning.

I loved having the kitchenette. It made it feel like a small apartment.
A tiny bit noisy, but just fine with a little ear plugs in, you cannot hear a thing. The only thing that was a negative was the cleaning lady was not into details. There was an old key card left on the counter, and the dishwasher was full upon check in.

Hotel looks new. Rooms are new too, but sheets and towels were dirty. We found one towel with, literally the mark of the shoe, folded with the clean hand towels.
People were complaining about not having staff to check in, but we never had a problem with that. I called them in morning and they pick up the phone immediately. When we arrived to check in at 8pm, a nice lady was there at the front desk; right behind us, came 4 or 5 ladies clapping and being sarcastic about having staff at the front desk because they said had been waiting for ours. Same happened the next day, but seriously, we never had an issue with the front desk :) They just need to keep sheets and towels white.
The booked the water view room and it was nice, specially at the sunrise and night.

Clean, modern hotel but poorly run. Our smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling and breakfast is not open until 8:00 or whenever the staff shows up. We waited until 8:15 but the staff never showed and we had to leave to catch the ferry and get breakfast elsewhere. If you are looking for a clean self service hotel without breakfast this is it. If you expect more, like coffee in the lobby, or the included breakfast, go somewhere else.

We arrived late night (approx 9PM) and departed early morning (before breakfast hours), so we did not get to experience much of the hotel.
Overall clean and tidy.
The room was a bit small. The bed filled most of the space.
What little we saw of Anacortes and the Salish in was good. If we come back, I'd give the Salish Inn another try.

We were there 3 nights and had no housekeeping. Continent breakfast was posted for 8 am and opened after 8:30. The floors were littered with small pieces of paper down the halls and were not vacuumed in 3 days. When we arrived we were told that Expedia had over booked us. Luckily the hotel found us a room.

Check in wasn't available immediately at 4 but I came back at 5:30 and was able to check in. Check-in was reasonably quick once the front desk was open. I found some things not thoroughly cleaned (behind garbage cans and the fridge was dirty/smelled) but wasn't anything I felt the need to address immediately with staff. I don't believe breakfast was available on time either. The bed wasn't very comfy but the accommodations worked well enough for me to get some rest. My door wouldn't deadbolt was probably my biggest concern. Room 305. The ac and heat worked well, the TV was large and the shower was hot so not total bad news. I'd stay here again if I had to. I would elect to have my key made available in the lock boxes outside ahead of time most likely so I wouldn't have to worry about the check in process. I say all this in hopes that it helps someone and/or the inn to improve the space/stay for others. I never saw any other staff other than the front desk person so maybe it's a lean staff. This place could be a decent spot as the price wasn't bad but I've stayed in similar places that were indeed cleaner and cheaper the kind of economy sized inn space (not necessarily in Anacortes, WA though).

Salish Inn was a great base in terms of location for hiking Deception Pass and exploring Anacortes including good nearby restaurants a ~10-15min walk away. Had an unusual issue during this stay where staff was missing at the advertised 4pm check-in time: many guests including my group had to wait an extra 30-60min to access our rooms, but once someone arrived on site the rest of our stay was fine. One of our four pillowcases was not clean, but otherwise the room was very comfortable and had everything we needed, and the rate was great value including free parking, in-room coffee/team, a basic gym, and breakfast.

FYI the property does email a guest questionnaire after booking - check-in is a bit easier if this is pre-filled and apparently the front desk is not staffed after 9pm so important for key access logistics if arriving late.

When we initially arrived at the hotel It was 3pm. There was no one in the Lobby at all there was a sign to ring bell and another said check in at 4 and to call for help. We tried both and no one answered either. We left decided to return at 4 pm. We arrived back 4:15pm still no one working the desk. There were other people waiting to. Check in they said they had been there since 4 and no one was there. We all tried to call the number for help Still no answer. It was a personal voice mail not initiated!!! Finally 4:56 someone arrived, started checking guests in, no apologies, no offer of anything !! Unable to get cancellation we checked in. Now approx 3 hrs wasted on this. Got to our room heat was on full blast it was set to 80 degrees. Once we figured out the heat the room was ok. Beds were comfortable and it was clean. breakfast was posted 8-9:30, we went down at 8:15 the guy was just setting up and making coffee, we left came back 8:30. It was just boiled eggs, bread for toast, yogurt, and some cereal. We were very disappointed today the least. The hot tub was nice but there was no towels and it is only big enough for 3 people comfortably. Will not stay here again Would not recommend this hotel.

The rooms were great and the gentleman who checked us in although new, was very nice . The lady who setup the breakfast was cordial and efficient. The young lady who worked the front desk on Saturday morning June 13th was rude short tempered and has no place in the hospitality business. We all have bad days but she came in late (9:20) and was very unpleasant. Not at all welcoming and not at all apologetic either.

When we entered our room, a gust of extremely hot air (like opening a hot oven door) hit us. We immediately went to the office and they had us check in to another room. The hotel was clean and beds comfortable. The most negative part was that breakfast was listed as starting at 8 am. Since we had to catch a ferry, we hoped they would be there earlier - that wasn't the case. In fact, no one was there to put out breakast items at 8 am or even a little after, at which time we left.

When I arrived - a few minutes after 9 p.m. - there wasn't a human being on site. I called the hotel's phone number and reached a person - I believe she may have been the owner - who directed me to a key box. However, the hotel generates a security code for each guest based on the area code of that guest's phone number (a TERRIBLE security practice), and the person proceeded to blame me because I had made my hotel reservation through hotels.com and apparently hotels.com doesn't send my actual phone number to the hotel, so the hotel didn't have my proper area code. By this point, I had been standing outside for at least 15-20 minutes. The hotel representative told me to \"be patient\".

People in the hospitality business who completely lack hospitality skills should find a different line of business.

Moreover, the hotel had all sorts of rather rude messaging about what guests can and can't do. If this is the future of hotels - self-serve, perhaps AI-driven - then NO THANK YOU.

I advise looking elsewhere.

It's a nice new little hotel but the owner/ manager doed not understand hospitality. The continental breakfast is served when it's convenient for her, not for the guests; 9-10am. One hour. The desk is only staffed during banking hours. I ne w would be arriving very late so I sent a message through Expedia. No response. I called a few days before arrival and was told the key box code was related to some of my personal information. Ok, great. Arrived 12:30am. The personal info code did not work. It seemed so clear and easy, we tried it over and over again. Eventually, we had the night phone number and she took a few minutes to start up her computer and gave me the code. I said that's not related to my personal info as I was told. She replied we don't get that info from Expedia. We'll then why was I told that works be the code? Why didn't you reply to my Expedia message?? Frustrating.

Last time I stayed here my TV lost connectivity so I called the night number and was told there's nothing they can do it about it until daytime. Thanks for nothing.

My room was right overture front door. I could hear and see someone out there trying to get in. I had just talked to the owner/manager on the phone, so I called her back to let her know that I could hear the intercom phone thing outside the door trying to phone someone and that someone was out there trying to get it. I was told to mind my own business!!!! I went down and let the guest in, out of the weather.

The staff was very helpful on my first night checking in, it was close to midnight after driving up from Oregon and I did not know how to get into the lobby/hotel so I called the number and they told me how to get into the lockbox to get my key out! The room was spectacular, it was set up like a studio apartment, had a full bathroom, a king-size bed and a kitchen with a full-size fridge and silverware and dishes, and a stove and a dishwasher. Everything was clean the soap that they use is amazing, I'm going to try and find it so that I can start using it at home.

On my return to Anacortes from Orcas Island, I stayed a final night before going back to Oregon. The staff was very friendly and very welcoming, and I had a different room style the second time around, but it was still very lovely. The bed was really comfortable, the pillows were nice and the sheets were very soft. It was nice to have a smaller refrigerator in the room as well as a coffee maker.

I will be a return customer to this hotel. It was perfect.

The property was new and everything was clean. Our room had a kitchen with a full sized refrigerator. It’s in the center of Anacortes, a cute port town. Food and stores within walking distance. We came during the Tulip Festival but we’ll be back for whale watching this summer. They don’t have 24 hr staff on site so if you arrive late they’ll arrange for you to use a key box or use your phone with a code. Breakfast was available from 9-10am which seemed late. We didn’t eat there because our day started earlier.

There’s no hotel staff present at the front desk after 7pm-9:00am. Hotel Website says breakfast between 7am- 9am, no staff were available and the breakfast area was completely closed at 8am, we had to make a McDonald’s run and staff arrived at 9am.

Continental Breakfast was included but not available until 830 even though it was advertised as 730 and even then there was not coffee available until 930. Our room wouldn't lock and when we requested someone to help they said no one was available until 4 days later. We had to request to move rooms as a solution. Staff was not very helpful. Rooms were clean but not properly equipped. We were in a kitchenette and had no silverware or the basic toiletries for the bathroom.

This is new, small, modern hotel. They only staff the Front Desk between 9am and 6pm. Otherwise, you have to trust they will answer the phone after hours. I heard a person standing outside the front door trying to check in, at about 8pm, for more than 5 minutes trying to reach them with their wall-mounted telephone/intercom system. I had a problem with my TV and I was told it could not be addressed until the next day. I stayed two nights (same rate each night) and did not receive ANY housekeeping after the first night, not even to replace the coffee pods I used the first morning. It's nice, but one has to understand their limitations of trying to control costs -- at the dismay of guests.

I booked a San Juan suite and instead got a Rosario suite. The Rasario is handicap accessible which I did not need and felt bad about occupying. The desk said they could not switch me rooms because I booked third party. I would have booked direct but their markup was over 50% than through a third party. The room was clean and there is plenty of parking. The staff is helpful and friendly. We had a late check in and they were very supportive. Front desk coverage is spotty. There is a nice espresso machine there, but almost no one is ever there to provide service, or the person there doesn’t know how to use the machine. The sheets on the bed were super sloppy. Had to request the room be re-serviced as the bottom sheet perpetually moves and falls off. This was the most upsetting part of the stay. They also need an alternative milk for breakfast. A lot of people cannot or no longer can have dairy products.

The building is new and in good condition. The room was not as clean as I had hoped. There were potato chips on the carpet and a stain on the sheet next to the pillow (luckily there were two beds so I didn't have to sleep in that one). The room was quiet. I didn't eat the breakfast but I did want hot water for my tea and I could not find a hot water thermos, or a staff person, anywhere. The breakfast appeared to be bagels, cereal, and yogurt.

Overall, I would say that this was a pretty nice place, clean and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. We did have problems getting the Roku TV to work, but the staff provided a suitable remote that did the job. One nightstand had a drawer that would not stay shut, and the water pressure in the toilet was insufficient to clear anything more solid than toilet paper.

The shower floor we had to put a towel down to step in there. It was dirty black. Deck had bird droppings all over it we had to ask to clean it. The dishwasher had not been run when we checked in and there was no soap to run it. Stingy with towels. 2 of us and 2 towels. Breakfast very limited hours, during weekday 9-10am, and little to no food options. One gal at front desk not helpful at all. Santos was helpful.

We picked this property because it seemed clean and modern and it was exactly that. It's not fancy but it's not low rent either. The staff is fine, but it's not a 24/7 desk, so if you come in after hours, you will have to pick up your key outside in a drop box designated specifically for you and you'll get an email telling you how to get your keycard. The continental breakfast is severely disappointing (ie: you main entree options are boiled eggs or a packaged madeleine cookie, lol) that has the typical yogurt, toast, cereal, and coffee options. It's very sparing so if that's important to you, get breakfast somewhere else. Other than that, this is a clean, safe place to stay and if you have a whaling excursion, you're either 5 minutes away or 15 mins away, so it's easy enough to get around.

Choose a different hotel

I did not like that the front desk only had somebody there on certain hours. Anytime we had to go to the front desk nobody was available to assist. When we got into the room, there were still wet towels from the previous people. The bed was very uncomfortable and the sheets kept coming off. The breakfast was sad and could barely be called breakfast. The price was right but I will not be staying here again.

The only complaint was that the water pressure in the bathroom sink was terrible (none). Otherwise it was a great room - new, exceptionally clean, comfortable bed. Just a good value.

Nice hotel with no hotel staff

It was a strange experience! We arrived just after 9:00pm and had to get our room key from a lock box because the front desk was closed. The hot tub closed at 9:00pm and there was no one around but other guests wondering the same thing as us! The room was nice but very small and the bed was comfortable although too soft for my liking. The sheets wouldn’t stay on which was frustrating. We went to get breakfast at 9:00am and there still was no one around. I gave it 3 stars because the lack of any staff of any kind was strange.
